Disclose Tanjong Bin power plant deal, says DAP

Posted: 14 Jun 2011 05:00 AM PDT

The DAP is increasing pressure on the government to disclose full details of the Energy Commission's (EC) awarding of the concession to build a 1000MW coal-fired power plant in Tanjong Bin, Johor. The concession was given to independent power producer (IPP) Malakoff Bhd, after the EC had reportedly considered another proposal from Jimah Energy Ventures Sdn Bhd. Malakoff, a subsidiary of tycoon Syed Mokhtar Albukhary's MMC Corp Bhd, also operates Southeast Asia's biggest coal-fired plant plant, a 700MW facility, in Tanjong Bin. Its happening today at the PWTC @ Putra World Trade Centre. Bloggers Pow Wow with the Chief Honcho being our former 4th Premier, Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad being the Keynote Special Speaker.

Also lined up to say his piece is none other than our Malaysian Minister of Information, Communications and Culture, Dato Seri Dr. Rais Yatim. He was conspicuously missing from the Asian Bloggers Conference held recently.

I don't know why Dato Seri Rais was not there? Could be due to the presence of one Dato Rocky Bru? Wallahu'alam. Anyway, its all history now. Looking forward to chatting with Dato Seri Rais tomorrow. He's quite an articulate man. Speaks excellent Malay and is definitely a proud product of the old school. Good for him.

Then there's gonna be Dato Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Minister for Higher Education. Hope to see him too.

Besides the government superstars, there's a whole lot of other speakers in que. You can check them out here.

I for one am looking forward to meeting an acquaintance of mine all these while online ~ Tuan Haji Maarof Kassim. An MBA member himself but one whom I have yet to meet in person, face to face.

I am also looking forward to meeting another MBA member there too, Dr.Norshinah Kamarudin who just joined us officially last night.

Hope all goes well and we get to meet other bloggers from all over the world. Network and exchange news and views :)

Insya Allah.

functional Fame Whores : Debra Chong the prostute with big pussy & Malaysian Insider Dysfunctional Fame Whores House The Kill Team GETTING READY TO TO SELL HER PUSSY
The sensationally titled "Urban renewal a time bomb for Selangor government" article by Debra Chong, The Malaysian Insider is littered with factual errors and allegations.
As coordinators of the Maju Jaya Pilot Urban Regeneration Project, Petaling Jaya, we are dismayed that Debra Chong, despite being given generous amount of information and time by the residents, architects and coordinators, chose to ignore almost everything discussed from the three hours of conversation in total spent with her during and after the launch of the project.
After reading her article, we requested for a meeting with Debra Chong, the writer. Below are our responses as well as questions to her and The Malaysian Insider.
#1. When asked where she got the information of this "RM10 billion plan" by the Selangor Government "for vote-buying", she could not answer with certainty. Did The Malaysian Insider conjure it up or pluck this astronomical figure from thin air? Unless factual information can be provided this allegation is slanderous.
#2. Time bomb? If there were indeed a RM10 billion, or even just a RM10 million allocation to rehabilitate low-cost housing and communities, would this not be a good policy for the Selangor Government to have? To "bail out" the poor and needy rather than the rich? Shouldpublic money not be used for the benefit of the people who need it most? In what way is it a "time bomb"?
#3. The truth is that this urban regeneration pilot project does not even amount to RM500,000. It is a public-private initiative between MBPJ (local government) and Veritas Architects and Sususan Baru Sdn Bhd. MBPJ is only allocating a small amount whereas the private sectors are coming out with about three quarters of the total expenses through their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) allocations.
#4. This pilot project was initiated by as far back as July-August 2010. This can be verified by checking the minutes of MBPJ meetings. It has nothing to do with "vote-buying". It was only launched in May 2011 because many legal and logistical issues had to be ironed out among all the stakeholders as well sourcing for more sponsorship.
#5. Debra Chong also claimed "physical work has yet to start". During the launch of the project which she attended, she could see with her own eyes that the roads were newly paved and the broken public lights repaired. She was also briefed that seven loads of waste from the septic tank was pumped out. Why deny what is out there for all see?
#6. After the meeting with her, she sent an SMS asking: "Why pick a private housing development for the pilot project instead of public housing project?" in what she claims to be a "massive rejuvenation exercise".
Again, the truth is often more prosaic. Block C Maju Jaya Flats was listed as one of 10 low-cost flats among the 300 plus – both private and public (i.e. PKNS) — in Petaling Jaya which needed urgent attention. It was also selected because it involved only a five–storey low-rise with 60 flats. As a pilot project with no precedent in Malaysia, we had wanted to start small and not make it a "massive exercise" as the writer claims.
Many private low-cost housing have been left in disrepair by developers. Some developers have gone bust, especially in the late 1990s. Others have sold off their companies. In the case of Block C Maju Jaya, the former developer is involved in this rehabilitation initiative and will be contributing both labour as well a new community hall. For all these reasons, Block C Maju Jaya flats was selected by MBPJ to begin a pilot private-public engagement.
It is indeed sad to see a journalist who chose to ignore practically all the information and facts provided to her. We hope that Debra Chong and The Malaysian Insider will print this response in full so the public can judge for themselves; right what is wrong and retract the unfounded allegations and factual errors. And instead, engage and challenge all local governments, architects and developers in Malaysia to develop better social housing policies and developments for the future

KEADILAN to launch first-ever election convention

Posted: 14 Jun 2011 09:59 AM PDT

azmin ali From Malaysiakini By Regina Lee

In an effort to prep themselves for the next general election, PKR will also be holding an election convention, the first of its kind for any political party in the country.

Announcing this, party deputy president and elections director Azmin Ali (right) said that the convention to be held this weekend will see the launch of the election campaign, logo and the theme.

Unveiling this at a press conference at the party headquarters this morning, he said that the theme for the upcoming general election will be 'Demi Rakyat' (For The People).

"This is the first by any political party in Malaysia to specifically launch a campaign and a theme," he said, adding that he expects 2,000 delegates from all over the country to converge for the convention in Shah Alam this Sunday.

With a prediction of a July snap polls, he said that it should give the delegates enough time to prepare themselves as well as the party machinery at the grassroots.

However, when asked by a reporter, Azmin said that he was not worried that launching an election campaign this early would give the opposing parties enough time to rebut their strategy.

"We don't know when is the date for the election is so we have to be prepared for any eventuality. We still believe that the Najib Abdul Razak administration will call for an election in July so we have a month to get our machinery on track," he said.

"It is in our conviction, that we strongly believe in the policies of PKR. If BN wants to usurp the policies in Buku Jingga, I don't mind, let them do it. In the interest of the people, I'm more than glad for the prime minister to use it," he said.

But hitting out at the election date that is being shrouded in secrecy, Azmin, who is also the Gombak MP, said the date appears to be in the sole possession of the prime minister.

"In South-East Asian countries like Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, people already know the election date two years beforehand. But it is so different in Malaysia. Anyway, as a political party, PKR has to be ready for the eventuality of a general election.

"PKR will go in with humility, a strong spirit and hope that we will put up a good fight for the next general election," he said.

PKR still mum on HQ status

Meanwhile, claiming ignorance, Azmin let out few details on the status of the party headquarters after they experienced a close shave to the HQ building being auctioned off.

When asked, he said: "Well you're still in the building, we're still operating in the HQ. Let the due process take place."

An eleventh-hour notice was sent to the party leadership just a day before the building where the HQ sits in the upmarket Petaling Jaya suburb of Tropicana was supposed to be auctioned off by the bank.

The owner had apparently taken out an injunction to stop the sale, where it was understood that they have defaulted on 30 months worth of loans.

"Don't put the blame on us, we're just the tenant. We're good paymasters, paying RM20,000 in rental every month," said Azmin.

No Comment From The Star's VK Chin

Posted: 14 Jun 2011 04:00 AM PDT

By Admin

After years of spinning for the BN/Umno Regime, the MCA owned The Star's former group chief editor Datuk V.K. Chin (pic above) passed away at 5.30am Sunday morning. Chin, who later became Editorial Adviser of The Star was 75. Chin was noted for his one sided comments that always painted the Opposition as Evil but was silent or in this case deaf and blind to the Evil perpetrated by the Evil BN/Umno Regime.

Strangely, Chin who used to write in The Star's 'Comment' Column where he used to dish out his spins has now found Umno's running dog Chandra Muzaffar as his replacement for the Comment Column. No need to figure out what garbage Chandra will be dishing out.

Whatever, may God have mercy on the soul of VK Chin.

Henry Butcher Malaysia director Long Tian Chek testified at Dr Khir's corruption trial today that the plots of land in Section 7 here were valued at RM2.35 million and the bungalow was valued at RM3.2 million in 2007.

Court Says Hee Attacked Yew With Pepper Spray - By Debra Chong & Clara Chooi.

Posted: 14 Jun 2011 03:40 AM PDT

Aulong assemblyman Yew Tian Hoe won today a court ruling against his state lawmaker colleague Datuk Hee Yit Foong for attacking him with a pepper spray in the infamous May 7, 2009 Perak legislative assembly.

He also won a restraining order preventing her from future assaults against him.

Jelapang assemblyman Hee gained infamy after she quit the DAP and pledged loyalty to the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition leading to the fall of the then ruling Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state government.

She had been recorded attacking Yew in the lawmaking hall.

In his ruling, judicial commissioner Tarmizi Ab Rahman said Yew had successfully proven his case in the Ipoh High Court and awarded him the injunction, Yew's lawyer Leong Cheok Keng told The Malaysian Insider.

"With this injunction, if Hee attacks Yew, then Yew can initiate contempt [of court] proceedings against Hee, apart from criminal proceedings," the lawyer explained.

Tarmizi also ordered Hee, a Perak assembly deputy speaker, to pay court costs but said there was not enough evidence for him to evaluate the claims for damages.

"I welcome the ruling. Benar punya benar. Dia tak boleh tipu lagi. [The truth will prevail. She can't lie anymore]," said Yew who filed the suit against Hee in June 2009.

Despite the obvious evidence of a photo and video recordings, Hee denied she had sprayed Yew and insisted she was only holding up a pen drive that resembled the spray canister.

In his statement of claim, Yew said he suffered pain and injury, mental shock and trauma, loss of dignity, and consequently public shame, humiliation and mental distress as a result of the attack.

Both Hee and Yew suffer from polio.

The Malaysian Insider understands that Hee fled the court complex in Ipoh this morning when approached by reporters for comments.

Her counsel Nor Emilia Iszehan told the press that she would first speak to her client before discussing any further action.

When contacted, Taiping MP and former state executive councillor Nga Kor Ming said today's decision was a historic matter that proved PR's claims to be true.

"This is the first time there is such a case where a deputy speaker of a House is being barred from attacking a person," Nga said.

Anwar Ups The Ante On Bersih 2.0

By Anwar Ibrahim 5 Comments
Categories: Agenda Baru, Aktiviti, Anwar, Demokrasi, Isu Semasa, KeADILan, Malaysia, Pakatan Rakyat, Parlimen, Pilihanraya, Politik and Program

From Malaysiakini

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, whose travel and speaking engagements these days remind observers of the self-punishing regimen of marathon runners, will take part in the Bersih 2.0 rally scheduled for July 9.

Speaking to about 1,200 people who had gathered at the Girl Guides' Hall in Brickfields to hear a briefing on the Bersih march by its chairperson, Ambiga Seenivasan, Anwar, who was the final speaker at the gathering, disclosed that he would be present at the rally, called to push the cause of electoral reform.

NONEThe crowd cheered and although Anwar had taken part in the first Bersih rally in November 2007, these days his crisscrossing the country and frequent court appearances in connection with Sodomy II seem to preclude a repeat participation in Bersih's second edition.

The first Bersih rally, which drew a crowd that was estimated at 40,000, was held on Nov 10, 2007. It was a gathering whose size foreshadowed the sizeable turnout for the Hindraf rally held 15 days later.

Together, the rallies in late 2007 heralded the electoral swing that saw the opposition coalition of PKR, DAP and PAS deny BN a two-thirds majority in the general election of March 2008.

The way the government-controlled mainstream media is fulminating against Bersih 2.0 betrays anxiety that it would turn out to be as ominous for BN's electoral fortunes as its predecessor was.

Thus Anwar's intended participation will be interpreted by the opposition Pakatan Rakyat's supporters as an encouragement to turn out in numbers for event.

If Turkey can do it, why not us?

Anwar let drop the news of his participation after giving the crowd an inkling of his punishing schedule these days.

"Four days ago, I was in Kuwait just for a day to deliver a speech at a seminar on finance," he said in his speech.

"In the course of the day, I was contacted by the representative of the prime minister of Turkey who extended an invitation for PKR officials to observe the elections in that country scheduled for today," continued Anwar.

"PKR sent a few of its MPs, including Nurul Izzah, who was invited to monitor the elections in a part of the country where the contest would be intense," Anwar elaborated. Nurul is MP for Lembah Pantai which counts Brickfields as one of its wards.

"If Turkey can invite representatives from something like 16 countries, I don't see why the authorities here cannot allow the Bersih rally to take place peacefully because it a demonstration of the right of our people to clean and fair elections," Anwar asserted.

Anwar claimed Umno-BN these days were motivated by "the fear of losing" besides displaying sundry symptoms of "the arrogance of power" towards the opposition.

Earlier, Anwar, as explanation of his seeming indefatigability in the teeth of a punishing schedule of travel and speaking engagements, said he took heart from the rousing crowds that regularly turn up at his functions.

"I have a wonderful wife, good children and a circle of loyal friends who give me the strength to carry on," he said to cheers from the crowd, which besieged him when he ended his speech and made his way to his car.

Tulukachi Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil says is okay for UMNO as a first class prostitute not for Obedient Wives Club

Threesomes are one of those sexual fantasies that men can't seem to shake — no matter how hard their wives and girlfriends shake them.

The appeal is probably mathematical. One = good. Ergo, two = twice as good. (Three = three times as good but clearly impossible.)
A woman calls up Loveline looking for advice: Her boyfriend wants to have a threesome. And good news! He's found a woman willing to be the third!

Soalan yang Wajib Dijawab UMNO Sekiranya Mereka Benar2 Pembela Melayu

NOTA EDITOR: Ada pembaca memberikan artikel di bawah kepada Tulang Besi
From: Mohd Faidzal

Ambiga Sreenevasan is a colossus of intellect and integrity in the Malaysian legal fraternity. Ask any lawyer and they will tell you. Here is what Wikipedia has to say:

Dato' Ambiga Sreenevasan (born 1956) is a Malaysian lawyer who served as the Malaysian Bar chairlady from 2007 to 2009.

In March 2009, she became one of the eight recipients for the 2009 Secretary of State's Award for International Women of Courage Awards. In the ceremony, the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton commented, "… Ambiga Sreenevasan, has a remarkable record of accomplishment in Malaysia. She has pursued judicial reform and good governance, she has stood up for religious tolerance, and she has been a resolute advocate of women's equality and their full political participation. She is someone who is not only working in her own country, but whose influence is felt beyond the borders of Malaysia. And it is a great honor to recognize her and invite her to the podium."

Bersih 2.0 chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan and PAS leaders have dismissed opposition towards next month's Bersih rally and maintained plans to proceed with it.
Umno daily Utusan Malaysia today urged Malaysians to boycott the protest and quoted Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein's warning that "it will be chaotic when those for and against the street demonstration clash."
"Opposition is normal. It is a democratic country," Ambiga (picture) told The Malaysian Insider today.
"My own reading is that a lot of people are very supportive of the demands we are making. There's unhappiness…like example in the Sarawak (election), unhappiness about corruption, (and) unhappiness about the independence of our institutions," added the election watchdog chief.
Ambiga, a former Bar Council president, called the protest a "peaceful citizens' rally".
When asked how Bersih 2.0 will face a possible police crackdown on the rally, she said: "Our plan is not final yet…we want to urge the authorities to change the way they see rallies."

Assessing the regional security implications of events in Syria is as difficult as understanding how its internal dynamics will resolve themselves. The revolutionary wave sweeping the Middle East has torn apart the old political order. Consequently, the strategic plans of the main parties are in disarray. That is certainly true of the United States. Washington is evidently unable to think beyond the reconstitution of some semblance of its pre-reform diplomatic assemblage.
In this intellectual vacuum, it is inescapable that the United States' attitude toward Syria should be inchoate. The administration from President Obama on down are at sea. They have experienced all the change that they can handle — or, more accurately, mishandle. Syria may not be the last straw, but it is adding to the unbearable overload of Washington's intellectual and diplomatic systems. Every party in the region is on the horns of a dilemma. Continuation of the discredited Assad regime in place is intolerable and probably impossible. Its disintegration, though, promises sectarian repercussions that likely will ripple beyond its borders with unpredictable effects.readmore http://themalay-chronicle.blogspot.com/2011/06/kriss-of-perkasa-no-fear-says-ambiga.html
