Prof Dato Dr Harun Din Al Haj ~ Calon Mursyidul Am PAS yang lebih tepat!

Posted: 15 May 2011 10:32 AM PDT

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Salam tahniah Prof! You are the best! A true gem amongst us!

Karang jadi macam kes 'Menang sorak ..kampong tergadai!'

Mudah2an Tuan Guru Dato Dr Harun Din di iktiraf dan dilantik sebagai Mursyidul Am PAS sementara beliau masih berupaya lagi.

Amin.

BN Credibility

Posted: 15 May 2011 07:55 AM PDT

This has got to be the best joke I've heard all day.

So it's merely about the negative perception of the public, but not negative actions and decisions of the politicians and their running dogs?

Really, what are these people smoking?

IMF AND THE SUITE ROOM 2286 STORY IS IMF GUILTY FOR EMPLOYING TAINTED WITH SEXTUAL HARASSMENT AND ABUSE OF POWER

Posted: 15 May 2011 02:20 AM PDT

PAST CONTROVERSY  STRAUSS-KAHN HAS FACED CONTROVERSY BEFORE. IN OCTOBER 2008, HE APOLOGIZED FOR "AN ERROR OF JUDGMENT" FOR AN AFFAIR WITH A FEMALE IMF ECONOMIST WHO WAS HIS SUBORDINATE. AN INQUIRY CLEARED HIM OF HARASSMENT AND ABUSE OF POWER, ALTHOUGH HE WAS WARNED BY THE FUND'S BOARD OF MEMBER COUNTRIES AGAINST FURTHER IMPROPER CONDUCT.

Strauss-Kahn apologized to the woman, Piroska Nagy, and his wife, French television personality Anne Sinclair, as well as to IMF employees for the trouble he had caused.Since taking over the IMF, he has won plaudits for putting the fund, the world's main overseer of the global economic system, at the center of global efforts to cope with the financial meltdown of 2007-09.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a possible Socialist candidate in next April's French presidential election [AFP]

The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been charged with sexual assault and attempted rape in New York following a complaint by a hotel chambermaid.

A police deputy spokesman, Ryan Sesa, told reporters on Sunday that the charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn included "criminal sexual act, unlawful emprisonment, attempted rape" and "assaulting a 32-year-old girl in a hotel room".

Strauss-Kahn, widely expected to run for the French presidency in 2012, was taken off the Air France flight at John F Kennedy International Airport by police officers on Saturday after the maid reported the case.

The maid told authorities that she entered Strauss-Kahn's room at the Sofitel near Manhattan's Times Square at about 1pm local time (1600 GMT) on Saturday.

According to the maid's account, the IMF chief emerged from the bedroom naked, threw her down and tried to sexually assault her, Paul J Browne, a New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesman, said.
Al Baker, a reporter for The New York Times, which broke the story, told Al Jazeera that more details about the alleged attack had emerged.

"The police investigators found his cell phone in the [hotel] room," he said.

"There're some more details coming out according to the chambermaid's account, which is that she entered what she believed was his empty suite – Room 2286 – at the Sofitel Hotel, and he basically came out of the bathroom and grabbed her, locked the door and put her to the bed.

"She broke free – this is according to her account. She fought him off; then he dragged her again down the hallway to the bathroom where another, second, alleged sex assault occurred."
'Left in a hurry'
Police said Strauss-Kahn, who is married, apparently left the hotel in a hurry. They then discovered he was at the airport, and contacted the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which pulled him off the flight.

It was not immediately clear if the 62-year-old Strauss-Kahn had been planning to leave New York for France on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The maid was taken by police to an area hospital.

John Sheehan, a spokesman for the hotel, said its staff was co-operating with the authorities in the investigation.
William Murray, a spokesman for the IMF in Washington, said the IMF had no immediate comment on the reports of Strauss-Kahn's arrest.

Strauss-Kahn's offices in Paris could not be reached when the news broke overnight in France, nor could French Socialist Party officials. The IMF chief belongs to the party and has been leading opinion polls for next year's elections.
Before taking the top post at the IMF, Strauss-Kahn was a member of the French National Assembly and a professor of economics at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.
He had also served as France's minister of economy, finance and industry from June 1997 to November 1999.
Strauss-Kahn, popularly known as "DSK" in France, was seen as the strongest possible challenger to French president Nicolas Sarkozy, though he had yet to declare his candidacy, remaining vague in interviews while feeding speculation that he wanted France's top job.
He took over as head of the IMF in November 2007. The 187-nation lending agency, headquartered in Washington, provides help in the form of emergency loans for countries facing severe financial problems.
Strauss-Kahn won praise for his leadership at the IMF during the financial crisis of 2008 and the severe global recession that followed.
More recently, he has directed the IMF's participation in bailout efforts to keep a European debt crisis which began in Greece from destabilising the global economy.
But his tenure at the IMF has also brought controversy, In October 2008, he apologised for "an error of judgment" over an affair with a junior colleague. Although cleared by an inquiry of harassment and abuse of power, he was warned by the fund's board of member countries against further improper conduct.

Under Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the IMF is looking to assist countries in stimulating their economies through long-term investments, boosting wages and strengthening collective bargaining [GALLO/GETTY]

The annual spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund was notable in marking the Fund's effort to distance itself from its own long-standing tenets on capital controls and labour-market flexibility. It appears that a new IMF has gradually, and cautiously, emerged under the leadership of Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
Slightly more than 13 years earlier, at the IMF's Hong Kong meeting in 1997, the fund had attempted to amend its charter in order to gain more leeway to push countries towards capital-market liberalisation. The timing could not have been worse: the East Asia crisis was just brewing - a crisis that was largely the result of capital-market liberalisation in a region that, given its high savings rate, had no need for it.
That push had been advocated by Western financial markets - and the Western finance ministries that serve them so loyally. Financial deregulation in the United States was a prime cause of the global crisis that erupted in 2008, and financial and capital-market liberalisation elsewhere helped spread that "made in the USA" trauma around the world.
The crisis showed that free and unfettered markets are neither efficient nor stable. They also did not necessarily do a good job at setting prices (witness the real-estate bubble), including exchange rates (which are merely the price of one currency in terms of another).
Emerging markets, concerned countries
Iceland showed that responding to the crisis by imposing capital controls could help small countries manage its impact. And the US Federal Reserve's "quantitative easing" (QEII) made the demise of the ideology of unfettered markets inevitable: money goes to where markets think returns are highest. With emerging markets booming, and the US and Europe in the doldrums, it was clear that much of the new liquidity being created would find its way to emerging markets. This was especially true given that America's credit pipeline remained clogged, with many community and regional banks still in a precarious position.
The resulting surge of money into emerging markets has meant that even finance ministers and central bank governors – who are ideologically opposed to intervening – believe that they have no choice but to do so. Indeed, country after country has now chosen to intervene one way or another to prevent their currencies from skyrocketing in value.
Now the IMF has blessed such interventions - but, as a sop to those who are still not convinced, it suggests that they should be used only as a last resort. On the contrary, we should have learned from the crisis that financial markets need regulation, and that cross-border capital flows are particularly dangerous. Such regulations should be a key part of any system to ensure financial stability; resorting to them only as a last resort is a recipe for continued instability.
There is a wide range of available capital-account management tools, and it is best if countries use a portfolio of them. Even if they are not fully effective, they are typically far better than nothing.
But an even more important change is the link that the IMF has finally drawn between inequality and instability. This crisis was largely a result of the efforts of the US to bolster an economy weakened by vastly increased inequality, through low interest rates and lax regulation – both of which resulted in many people borrowing far beyond their means. The consequences of this excessive indebtedness will take years to undo. But, as another IMF study reminds us, this is not a new pattern.
Unemployment, rising class-divide
The crisis has also put to the test long-standing dogmas that blame labour-market rigidity for unemployment, because countries with more flexible wages, such as the US, have fared worse than northern European economies, including Germany. Indeed, as wages weaken, workers will find it even more difficult to pay back what they owe, and problems in the housing market will become worse. Consumption will remain restrained, while strong and sustainable recovery cannot be based on another debt-fuelled bubble.
As unequal as the US was before the Great Recession, the crisis, and the way it has been managed, has led to even greater income inequality, making recovery all the more difficult. The US is setting itself up for its own version of a Japanese-style malaise.
But there are ways out of this dilemma: strengthening collective bargaining, restructuring mortgages, using carrots and sticks to get banks to resume lending, restructuring tax and spending policies to stimulate the economy now through long-term investments, and implementing social policies that ensure opportunity for all. As it is, with almost one-quarter of all income and 40 per cent of US wealth going to the top one per cent of income earners, the US is now less a "land of opportunity" than even "old" Europe.
For progressives, these abysmal facts are part of the standard litany of frustration and justified outrage. What is new is that the IMF has joined the chorus. As Strauss-Kahn concluded in his speech to the Brookings Institution shortly before the Fund's recent meeting: "Ultimately, employment and equity are building blocks of economic stability and prosperity, of political stability and peace. This goes to the heart of the IMF's mandate. It must be placed at the heart of the policy agenda."
Strauss-Kahn is proving himself a sagacious leader of the IMF. We can only hope that governments and financial markets heed his words.

Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali Dares Malaysian Christians to Launch a ‘Crusade’, Threatens Jihad War

Posted: 15 May 2011 03:00 AM PDT

Waiting for what? ISA this guy already!

Oh wait, I forgot… UMNOpocrites constantly threaten repeats of May 13, spread unfounded rumours that incite social tensions, and utter racist threats, but the ones who gets ISAed are those who report on their bilious spew.

As the Malaysian Insider report correctly puts it ('recover the Holy Lands'), the Crusades were merely a retaliation against 461 years of unprovoked Muslim invasions and attacks.

Think of that context – of who started the provocation – as you read Ibrahim Ali's threat to give Christians a crusade if they want.

And that other word he uses, translated 'holy war' – the term he used is 'perang jihad', which is the same concept extremist Islamic terrorists use to justify their murderous attacks on innocents. The 'perang' (war) stuck to his remark excludes any possibility of 'peaceful jihad' (e.g. against poverty).

Really, Ibrahim Ali? Dare Christians to launch a crusade and threaten jihad in retaliation?

And the best part???????

Just like all true hypocrites, Ibrahim Ali cannot see his own massive flaws, yet projects them onto his targets!

Look at how he accuses nonMuslims of becoming unafraid to stir up trouble because Muslims take their provocations peacefully and some groups support their antics.

Whereas outside of his BIZARRO WORLD, the reality is that certain Muslims like him are fearless to blatantly stir up trouble despite Christians trying to quietly practise their basic rights with a low profile, because the UMNO/BN government refuses to bring extremists like him to heel!

Go ahead, UMNO/BN. Let this fellow go without even a hint of invoking the ISA. You'll show more clearly than ever how dedicated you really are to this '1 Malaysia' concept you so bandy about.

Speaking of May 13… I have no doubt that this is all part of a continuing ploy to get the non-UMNOputras to react – no matter in how small a way – and use that as a pretext to crack down with wide-sweeping arrests. That is when the ISA will finally be invoked.

Tell us, Ibrahim Ali, just tell us… What exactly are Christians doing that makes you think we want a religious war? The specifics, not the vague generalizations and allusions to non-existant figments of your perverted imagination.

From Malaysia Insider:

As police probe, Ibrahim Ali threatens crusade against Christians
By Clara Chooi May 15, 2011
GOMBAK, May 15 — Despite police still investigating unsubstantiated reports of a move to a Christian Malaysia, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali threatened Christians nationwide last night that he would wage a crusade or holy war should they proceed with their agenda to usurp Islam.

The pint-sized Malay rights leader thundered to a ceramah audience of some 200 at Kampung Changkat here that he was willing to take the fall for his statement for the sake of defending the dignity of Islam.

Although he complained of fatigue from his nine ceramah stops from Kelantan to here since Friday night, the Pasir Mas MP also said his blood was boiling with rage and "hairs standing on end" following recent reports of a Christian conspiracy between religious leaders and opposition party politicians.

"In Kelantan earlier, I declared before the police, I told the security forces present that if they want to send my messages to Bukit Aman (police), please go ahead.

"Please record my words — if there is any party in Penang, especially the Christian priests who are being backed by the Penang DAP, should continue with their agenda which we already know, I would like to offer that if they want to hold a crusade, we can.

"This is in the spirit of Sultan Saladin Ayubi… if they want to fight a crusade, we can," he charged.

Saladin was a Kurdish Muslim, who became the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria, and led the Muslim forces during the Crusades — a series of religiously sanctioned military campaigns taken by the Christians to recover the Holy Land from Muslims.

Ibrahim (picture) warned the non-Muslims not to take the silence of their Muslim comrades to mean complacency, saying it was because the latter community placed peace and harmony above everything.

"But we are ready. Silence does not mean fear, we have been silent because we prioritise peace and harmony.

"But these people, if they feel the peace that they have enjoyed all these years is insufficient, or the stability and progress of this nation is not enough and they want to do something that has never once crossed our minds, go ahead… we will be ready," he said.

He claimed the reason why the non-Muslims were now fearless and brave enough to step up was because they felt secure with the backing of many Muslim liberals and other political leaders including PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat.

"This is my view… if I am incorrect, it is my right. If I am rude, I apologise. My sins I will bear.

"But why is this happening now… after 53 years? The answer you may know — the main source is because of Anwar's misdeeds.

"So to them (non-Muslims), this is their time because they are being backed by Nik Aziz, supported by Anwar and spurred by the Malay liberals," he said.

Ibrahim was referring to the recent row over a controversial newspaper report in Utusan Malaysia entitled "Kristian Agam Rasmi?" (Christianity the official religion?) where it was alleged that DAP leaders and Christian priests were conspiring to take over Putrajaya, abolish Islam as the religion of the federation and install a Christian prime minister.

Christian leaders and DAP members have denied the reports and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was even forced to host a meeting with the religious chiefs to solve the issue but Ibrahim insisted last night that the report was true.

For one, he pointed out that a Muslim DAP member had also lodged a report on Friday claiming to know the true story of what transpired during the meeting at a hotel in Penang recently.

"They have been accusing Utusan Malaysia but from the beginning, I said it is valid. It is true.

"Why? Because the MP present at the meeting was Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi. He is an MP like me and I know from his mannerisms and the language he uses," he said.

Ibrahim also reiterated his recent claim that former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) members were using local groups for an unsubstantiated plot to replace Islam as Malaysia's official religion.

He insisted that CPM supporters had infiltrated political parties, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), religious groups and business associations after the party laid down arms in 1989 in order to carry on their activities.

"I am reminding the Malays of this country… where are these CPM members? They have been absorbed into the community. I am confident they have infiltrated political parties, NGOs, and so on.

"These are the remains of PCM… that is why they are brave enough to continue with their agenda…. it is a golden opportunity for them because they now have extraordinary support from Anwar, from PAS and from the Malay liberals," he said.

Utusan Malaysia's Christian conspiracy report is presently under police investigation.

According to Ooi, a total of eight pastors and 13 DAP members and event participants have been called forth to give their statements to the police.

The Kate Middleton upskirt watch looking forward to see some images of Princess Kate in the nude but her sister Pippa will have to do now

Posted: 15 May 2011 01:21 AM PDT

Here are some of the other photos that is getting Pippa Middleton in hot water. So what if she like to hit the bottle? She would be the first boozer to visit Buckingham Palace nor the first incestor,

Philippa Charlotte "Pippa" Middleton (born 6 September 1983 in Reading, Berkshire, England) is an English party planner, socialite and sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. On 29 April 2011, she was the maid of honour at her sister's wedding to Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, second in the line of succession to Queen Elizabeth I
So the British Royal Family and the Middletons are rushing to get topless candids of the very cut and very single Pippa Middleton off the net. The Middleton family are pissed that four English papers published the old bikini pictures of Pippa Middleton from a 2006 trip to Ibiza with sister Kate and Prince William, and have recently lodged a complaint with the UK's Press Complaints Commission. The publications show the 27-year-old younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless on their covers. The complaint says the publication of private holiday photos infringed on the family's privacy.

The five years old photos, reportedly sold by her "friends," show Pippa pulling her bikini top off to the side rinsing off her body on a boat. Other pictures they are trying to get off the Internet include Pippa partying in a lavender bra while grinding up against some dude (who may or may not be her brother James, who may or mat not be gay) in only a pair of boxers. It is not incestuous if the brother might be gay right? LOL… The Royal Family just got a bit more interesting! Fox News 411 Entertainment Blog report:

That series of party photos, which were sold for "substantial" sums, were reportedly removed from the market after pressure was put on the Middleton family "friend" who took the snaps.

A second set of shots taken while the Middletons were swimming off of a yacht during a family vacation in Ibiza were obtained by The Daily are also being targeted for removal by the Middleton family. In those, Pippa is photographed rinsing out the top of her bikini. Her sister Kate and Prince William were also on the yacht.

James Middleton has not gotten off easy, either.

In one photo, the Duchess of Cambridge's near-nude brother-in-law had his hands down his boxers, in another, the cake-baker is completely naked—preserving his modesty by crossing his legs.

"James and Pippa are really embarrassed," a friend told the paper. "How were they supposed to know when these pictures were taken that they would be put under such scrutiny?"

I am was looking forward to see some images of Princess Kate in the nude but her sister Pippa will have to do now

The Kate Middleton upskirt watch is about to go critical. Princess Diana denied the paparazzi the upskirt shots but Kate Middleton as so far been generous. Here is a scandalous recap of the Kate Middleton upskirt watch so far. Lets hope Princess Kate continue the generous panty show.

It's A Good Question

Posted: 15 May 2011 12:28 AM PDT

Who, really, is the alpha male in UMNO?

Here are some excerpts taken from Wikipedia regarding alpha males among mammals. I found it interesting because it is relevant even among humans.

In social animals, the alpha is the individual in the community with the highest rank. Where one male and one female fulfill this role, they are referred to as the alpha pair (the term varies when several females fulfill this role – it is extremely rare among mammals for several males to fulfill this role with one female). Other animals in the same social group may exhibit deference or other symbolic signs of respect particular to their species towards the alpha.

The status of the alpha is often achieved by means of superior physical prowess. The individual in the alpha position usually changes when another challenges it to a fight, in some species to the death, and wins. Consequently, alphas may have to fight individuals in their own group several times to maintain their position throughout their lifetimes. In species where the fight is to the death, alphas rarely reach old age.

In some species, a nomadic individual may approach the alpha, successfully beat him, and thus become the new alpha. When this occurs in the lion community, the new alpha usually kills the previous alpha's cubs. In addition, several lions may share alpha privileges in what is usually called a coalition. The social group usually follows the alpha to the hunt and to new breeding or resting grounds. The alpha is thus sometimes seen as deciding the fate of the group. If two groups of the same species find themselves competing for the same ground, they may let the alphas fight, letting the outcome decide which group stays.

I didn't post this topic because I had an overdose of National Geographic. I had UMNO in mind.

I was thinking about the supposed "leader" of the pack and how he is constantly being challenged by his own community. How his people do NOT exhibit deference or respect towards him.

How his 1Malaysia concept is perpetually being trashed. Especially in the light of the recent Utusan fiasco, I wondered if this was a tag team being played out between Najib and his cousin Hishamuddin, or if the President of UMNO had lost respect among his own.

So I was pleasantly surprised to note that someone shared my opinion as well. Go and read this piece by KTemoc:

Who is Alpha of the pack of rabid dogs?

See if you have any ideas who the alpha male might be.

THE MAN WHO BURNED MUSLIMS GUJARAT CHIEF MINISTER NARENDRA MODI IS THE SPEACIAL GUEST OF JAYALALITHAA WHO READIES TEAM OF MINISTERS

Posted: 14 May 2011 11:51 PM PDT

Jayalalithaa
The AIADMK government is likely to be sworn in on Monday at the Centenary hall in Madras University in Chennai.
CHENNAI: The AIADMK government is likely to be sworn in on Monday at the Centenary hall in Madras University in Chennai.According to sources in the party, AIADMK chiefJayalalithaa has invited Gujarat chief ministerNarendra Modi, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu and a national representative of the CPI to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Former chief minister and senior party leader O Panneerselvam, Natham Viswanathan, C Ve Shanmugam, K A Sengottiyan, Gokula Indira, R Rajalakshmi, D Jayakumar, S Karuppasamy, Pollachi Jayaraman, V Senthil Balaji, Sellur K Raju, Nainar Nagendran, Essaki Subbiyah and A Patchimal are likely to be inducted into the new ministry.
Pazha Karuppiah, who was elected from Harbour constituency, is likely to be the speaker of the 14th assembly. The newly elected MLAs are likely to meet at the party headquarters on Sunday where Jayalalithaa will be formally elected leader of the legislature party.
AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, who will be sworn in as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu on Monday, has decided to shift the seat of governance and the assembly back into the colonial building at Fort St George in Chennai, said officials. The old secretariat was being spruced up on Saturday to welcome the new chief minister. Firemen were deployed to give the building a wash and painters were at work on a fresh coat.
AIADMK had said in February 2011 that if elected, it would move the government back to the historical structure, which was the seat of power in the state until 2010. The move puts a question mark over the fate of the new secretariat constructed at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore under the DMK regime.
However, historians, conservationists and former bureaucrats welcomed the proposal, saying Fort St George provided a historical setting suitable for governance. "It carries a legacy and has been the place from where legislatures have functioned since India attained Independence," said a historian.
Fort St George was the gateway to the subcontinent for the British in India. The East India Company founded a trading settlement at the site in the 17th century before consolidating its rule over the region.
The administration under M Karunanidhi's rule had shifted from the building to the new secretariat citing space constraints. However, the new facility on Anna Salai is far from ready and has been a subject of controversy for its architectural style and scope.
PWD secretary K Dhanavel and other senior officials have already begun to speed up repair works at the Fort. The chief minister's office, which was in disuse for months, is being restored to have it ready before May 16. Workers were busy fixing the room's false ceiling when a TOI team visited the building.
The AIADMK chief will call on the Governor on Sunday morning to stake her claim to form the government. She is likely to be sworn in on Monday along with a 30-member cabinet. Party veterans who have served in previous AIADMK regimes would get ministerial posts, officials said. Their offices would be renovated as well.
Among senior bureaucrats, chief secretary S Malathi has already shifted back to the old secretariat. Similarly, other departments including public, PWD, rural development and municipal administration are also being relocated to the old premises.
Senior police officials visited Fort St George on Saturday to review security arrangements. It was on the last day of the interim budget session of the 13th assembly in February this year that then deputy opposition leader O Paneerselvam said that Jayalalithaa would function out of Fort St George as chief minister.
A library for classical Tamil, instituted inside the assembly hall in the Fort, will also move now. Library coordinator K Sivamani told TOI, "Senior officials came to the library on Saturday morning and promised to provide us alternative space for the library. It will be shifted soon."
Former telecom minister A Raja and chief minister M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhicould well pay for DMK's debacle in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.A day after the results, the mood in the DMK camp got grimmer and the few successful party candidates and some senior leaders on Saturday met Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence for an informal stock taking session. Most said the 2G spectrum scam had crushed DMK's fortunes.
"Thalaivar (leader) is very upset over the results. He didn't expect this kind of a defeat. He sought reasons for the massive defeat," a DMK MLA from southern Tamil Nadu told TOI. DMK won a mere 22 of the 119 seats it contested and 17 of its 28 ministers lost.
As murmurs blaming Raja and Kanimozhi for the debacle get louder, many of these defeated ministers say they paid for the 2G effect.
While Raja's future in the party appears hazy, Kanimozhi's political career graph appears to have plummeted. When her Rajya Sabha term ends in two years, the DMK might not have the numbers to re-nominate her. And given the family dynamics, there could be a clamour among family members to keep her out.
Close family, including Karunanidhi's older son and Union minister M K Alagiri as well as younger son and state deputy chief minister M K Stalin, had advised their father to distance himself from the issue. They had pointed out the scam could erode the goodwill painstakingly built over five years of welfare measures and freebies for the poor. But Karunanidhi opted to stand by his daughter and erstwhile confidant Raja. Besides adopting a party resolution backing Raja, Karunanidhi deputed senior leaders to travel across the state on a 'defend Raja' campaign.
"We worked hard for our victory. Arithmetically and politically our alliance was stronger than theAIADMK alliance. But we could retain only two seats in the northern belt. The reason has to be the 2G spectrum scam. It has been in the limelight for more than a year and is bound to have influenced voters," said a minister who was defeated in northern Tamil Nadu.
When the opposition's campaign focussed on the 2G spectrum scam and corruption there was little resistance from Karunanidhi. The leader, who is normally quick to issue statements, also retreated into a shell soon after the first trends indicated sure defeat for his party. Except for a feeble, one-line reaction that people of Tamil Nadu had decided to give him rest, the DMK supremo, who had been the most vociferous supporter of Raja and his daughter all through the spectrum development, is yet to issue his usual epistle to cadres or a lengthy media statement on his party's poor showing.
"The reasons for our party's big defeat were discussed even in the counting centres by DMK agents. Many blamed the spectrum issue and dynastic politics," said an advocate who worked as an agent for a DMK candidate in Chennai.
"Our people have started talking about the 2G corruption case. The issue is now an open topic for debate even among partymen."

IMF CHIEF TO BE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED RAPE:BUT MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT GIVE REWARD TO UMNO RAPIST

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahnwill be charged with a "criminal sexual act, unlawful imprisonment and attempted rape," a police official told reporters late Saturday.

He was expected to be arraigned overnight before a Manhattan judge.

Strauss-Kahn, one of the world's top international diplomats responsible for handling financial crises, was taken into custody at John F Kennedy International airport after boarding an Air France plane bound for ParisNew York police spokesman Paul Browne said.

A 32-year-old maid filed a sexual assault complaint after fleeing a hotel room at the upscale Sofitel in Times Square where the alleged incident occurred, Browne said.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, who has been considered a possible Socialist Party candidate in the French presidential election next April, left the hotel after the incident, the police spokesman said.

Browne gave Reuters an account of events which led to the state charges against Strauss-Kahn. "She told detectives he came out of the bathroom naked, ran down a hallway to the foyer where she was, pulled her into a bedroom and began to sexually assault her, according to her account.

"She pulled away from him and he dragged her down a hallway into the bathroom where he engaged in a criminal sexual act, according to her account to detectives. He tried to lock her into the hotel room," Browne added.  RELATED ARTICLE

FORMER MALACCA CHIEF MINISTER TAN SRI ABDUL RAHIM TAMBY CHIK STRESSED THAT HE HAD  "NATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY" TO REVEAL WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THE SEX ACT.LIKE

BACK IN 1994, THE THEN CHIEF MINISTER OF MALACCA, ABDUL RAHIM THAMBY CHIK, WAS REPORTED TO HAVE RAPED A 15-YEAR-OLD SCHOOLGIRL (UNDER MALAYSIAN LAW, SEX WITH A MINOR CONSTITUTES STATUTORY RAPE). LIM GUAN ENG, CURRENTLY THE CHIEF MINISTER OF PENANG AND THE THEN MP FOR KOTA MELAKA, SPOKE OUT AGAINST THE RAPE OF A MINOR AFTER THE GIRL'S GRANDMOTHER-CUM-GUARDIAN, WHO WAS ALSO LIM'S CONSTITUENT, TURNED TO HIM FOR HELP.

HOWEVER, FAR FROM DESERVING JUSTICE, BOTH LIM AND THE SCHOOLGIRL RECEIVED THEIR "DUES". LIM WAS JAILED FOR THREE YEARS FOR SPEAKING UP AGAINST THE RAPE WHILE THE GIRL WAS GIVEN THREE YEARS "PROTECTIVE CUSTODY". AS FOR RAHIM, BECAUSE OF THE RAPE AND PENDING CORRUPTION CHARGES, HE WAS FORCED TO RESIGN, AFTER A 12-YEAR STINT AS MALACCA'S CHIEF MINISTER.
BUT THE JUDICIARY SAW RAHIM ESCAPE PUNISHMENT FOR A CRIME COMMITTED; THIS CAME ABOUT AFTER THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR WITHDREW THE CHARGE CITING LACK OF EVIDENCE. THE CORRUPTION CHARGES AGAINST RAHIM WERE ALSO DROPPEDREADMORE http://suarakeadilanmalaysia.wordpress.com/2011/04/24/tan-sri-abdul-rahim-tamby-chik-stressed-that-he-had-raped-a-15-year-old-schoolgirl-national-responsibility-in-the-sex-act/

Browne said he does not have diplomatic immunity. He is expected to be brought to court on Sunday.

According to New York state law, a criminal sexual act includes engaging in oral sexual conduct.

The allegation will be a major worldwide embarrassment to the IMF, which has authorized billions of dollars in lending programs to troubled countries and has played a major role in the euro zone debt crisis.

Strauss-Kahn was on his way to Europe for a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday.

It follows the announcement on Thursday the IMF's No. 2 official, John Lipsky, plans to step down in August when his term ends.

The IMF managing director has yet to say whether he will run for president, although French opinion polls put him as a clear winner over conservative incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy if the two faced off in an election.

"The NYPD realized he had fled, he had left his cell phone behind," Browne said. "We learned he was on an Air France plane. They held the plane and he was taken off and is now being held in police custody for questioning."

The maid "was brought by EMS (emergency medical services) to the Roosevelt Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries," Browne said.

The woman has not been named. Strauss-Kahn took over the International Monetary Fund in November 2007 for a five-year term scheduled to end next year.

Before that, he was a French finance minister, member of the French National Assembly and a professor of economics at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.

The IMF declined to comment and IMF board officials told Reuters they had not been informed officially of the incident.

Past controversy

Strauss-Kahn has faced controversy before. In October 2008, he apologized for "an error of judgment" for an affair with a female IMF economist who was his subordinate. An inquiry cleared him of harassment and abuse of power, although he was warned by the fund's board of member countries against further improper conduct.

Strauss-Kahn apologized to the woman, Piroska Nagy, and his wife, French television personality Anne Sinclair, as well as to IMF employees for the trouble he had caused.

Since taking over the IMF, he has won plaudits for putting the fund, the world's main overseer of the global economic system, at the center of global efforts to cope with the financial meltdown of 2007-09.

Strauss-Kahn introduced sweeping changes at the global institution to ensure that countries swamped by the financial collapse had access to emergency loans. He was pivotal in brokering a bailout program for IcelandHungaryGreeceIreland, and recently Portugal.

He has also overseen internal changes that have given emerging market countries, such as China,India and Brazil, greater voting power in the institution, and weighed into thornier issues by urgingChina to allow its currency to rise in value in a dispute with the United States.

Based in Washington at the IMF's headquarters, Strauss-Kahn has continued to spend a lot of time in France, fanning speculation he was considering re-entering politics as a presidential candidate.

Lipsky's planned departure and now Strauss-Kahn's detention raises questions about a possible leadership vacuum should the IMF chief be charged by U.S. authorities or face possible discipline by the IMF board.

Malaysia is becoming a madhouse...

Posted: 14 May 2011 09:20 PM PDT

For no gOod reason at all -- in Desi's eyes, I qualify -- two bloggers NOT present at a recent gathering of Christian pastors, leaders and several Penang Pakatan Rakyat leaders, spun a tale of the plot by Christians to replace Islam as the official religion. On such sensitive and important matters, if one was not a participant or present at such a gathering, WHY for heaven's sake, build a hornets' nest story?

Then the obliging Utusan Malaysia picked up the bloggers' tale and spun the highly unbelievable story on its front page! YES, front page for a sensitive piece of sensatonal news just so that its own AGENDA is served. The NgaraKu be damned! as long as UM political masters' interests are served!

As the angel after the devils have wrought their craft, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak came in as a "fireman" to douse the flames -- by inviting the clergymen involved for a luncheon meeting at Putrajaya. And the police had in preceding days spent long manhours taking "statements" from variuos participants involved. MEANWHLE, THE IGP HAS STILL NO TAKEN ACTION AGAINST THE DATUK T THREE STOOGES FOR OBVIOUS "PORNOGRAPHY" OFFENCES RELATED TO THE SEX VIDEO!

Malaysia is becoming a laughing stock around the world -- Sodomy 1, and Sodomy 2 still in progress, Utusan Malayisa's "presumptious of the truth" reporting of a gathering where its own reporters were not present.

Is Malaysia becoming the madhouse of Asia?

Let it brun,let it burn...

Emperor Nero of the olde madhouse of a crumbling empire fiddled
while Rome burnt...

Is Najib playing Fire/Bomba Chief while the Rakyat are trying their best with prising food and common utilities prices...

Desi's rumination this Sunday after a night out at the Temiang Corner sipping tehtarik with no kambing, and kepalan "pening" lah penning this could-be-prevented piece so soon after the 42nd anniversary of that infamous day of May 13, 1969.

ARE CERTAIN PARTIES WANTING TO CREATE A REPRISE/REPRISAL OF MAY 13 NEARING THE SO-CALLED impending 13th general elections?

As the days roll by, I am getting less proud flagging myself off as a Malaysian.

I wanna a cowboy be so I can sing my wandering heART/hard's content, yes! IF THERE IS A SEXT LIFE!:(

"My Elusive Dreams"

You followed me to Texas, you followed me to Utah,
We didn't find it there so we moved on.
Then you went with me to A-la-bam',
Things looked good in Birmingham,
We didn't find it there so we moved on.
I know you're tired of fol-low-ing
My elusive dreams and schemes
For they're only fleeting things,
My elusive dreams.

You had my child in Memphis then I heard of work in Nashville,
But we didn't find it there so we moved on.
To a small farm in Nebraska, to a gold mine in Alaska,
We didn't find it there so we moved on.
I know you're tired of fol-low-ing
My elusive dreams and schemes
For they're only fleeting things,
My elusive dreams.

Now we've left A-las-ka because thewas no gold mine,
But this time only two of us moved on.
And now all we have is each other and a little memory
To cling to and still you won't let me go on alone.
I know you're tired of following
My elusive dreams and schemes
For they're only fleeting things,
My elusive dreams.
