The Archbishop of Canterbury has been saying some interesting things about forgiveness this week. He told the Radio Times: "I think the 20th century saw such a level of atrocity that it has focused our minds very, very hard on the dangers of forgiving too easily… because if forgiveness is easy it is as if the suffering doesn't really matter". In this Easter message, he states that it's not fair to expect victims of abuse, rape or torture to turn the other cheek with ease.

I totally agree. All too often we sanitize and simplify forgiveness, when in fact it's an arduous, exhausting task — messy, risky and unpredictable.

As a result of Dr. Rowan Williams putting forgiveness back on the agenda this week, I have given six interviews for six different UK radio stations. On two occasions I was pitted against victims of an appalling crime, both of whom hardly surprisingly struggle with the very notion of forgiveness. The first was Colin Knox, whose son Rob Knox was stabbed to death in London in 2008. At the trial, the convicted man, Karl Bishop, refused to hear impact statements from Rob Knox's parents and, as reported in the Times, "swaggered into court smiling at three friends in the public gallery… and smirked as he was sentenced."

The second victim was Carol Quinn, whose daughter and two grandchildren were murdered in 2000 by Phillip Austin — her daughter's husband and the father of the children. Carol Quinn had the horrifying task of walking into the house and discovering the bodies. The pain is as raw as the day it happened and indeed amplified by the fact that Phillip Austin, who received three life sentences, has never shown remorse.

In both radio shows the presenter suggested that forgiveness might be good for these two, still very traumatized parents, and then handed over to me. Of course, I didn't go there. I hate the notion that anyone should be coerced into forgiving. Forgiveness should never be an obligation. It is a personal choice and not necessarily right for everyone. Indeed, to expect victims to forgive simply re-victimizes and heaps yet more guilt on them. Also, forgiveness is not black and white — to say you can't forgive doesn't necessarily mean you are eaten up by bitterness and rage. Colin Knox didn't sound in the least bit bitter — just desperately sad.

When Colin Knox and Carol Quinn describe the lack of remorse and acute disrespect demonstrated by these two offenders, it's easy to see why both parents feel that forgiveness is undeserved. Certainly no one deserves forgiveness — it is a gift from one person to another and only the sufferer is qualified to make that decision.
This time Shu Qi co-star with Andy Lau(劉徳華)of the movie"PC927" about romantic love story denied the delay in the filming was due to sex photos scandal.

If police find out for sure that Edison is directly responsible for leaking the naughty pictures to boost his career, he is sure to be in bigger trouble than first thought. But he might have a great future career in Hollywood as a result of the international publicity this scandal as generated.

DAP’s Kok Says Najib Must Condemn 1Melayu, 1Bumi - By Boo Su-Lyn.

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 06:53 AM PDT

Datuk Seri Najib Razak's refusal to condemn Utusan Malaysia's call for a '1Melayu, 1Bumi' movement has reduced his 1Malaysia brainchild into a joke, Teresa Kok said today.

"If Najib were truly a prime minister for all Malaysians, he would have condemned Utusan Malaysia outright without hesitation and ordered the suspension of the writer with immediate effect," said Kok, a Selangor DAP chairman.

"After all, he has all the power and authority to do so being the president of Umno which owns Utusan Malaysia. Najib has instead brushed off Utusan's vilification of Malaysians of Chinese descent with the feeble excuse that it was merely the personal opinion of the writer," she added.

Earlier today, the prime minister distanced his administration from Utusan's '1Melayu, 1Bumi' proposal, saying it was the personal opinion of the writer in the Umno-owned daily.

"That is the personal opinion of the writer. In terms of the government, we already have a concept that is very clear and we will continue our efforts," Najib had said.

He also said the Malay-language newspaper will not hinder the government's commitment to the 1 Malaysia concept.

But Kok said Najib's "inaction" proved his indifference should Malaysia be further divided along racial lines, or if the Chinese community were to be harmed following the formation of the '1Melayu,
1Bumi' movement.

"Najib's 1 Malaysia concept is really 1Joke with no substance, no credibility whatsoever," blasted the Seputeh MP.

Utusan had called on its owners Umno to spearhead a '1Melayu, 1Bumi movement' involving all Malay parties, claiming that the DAP was intent on toppling the country's Malay leadership.

Malay rights group Perkasa announced yesterday that it would spearhead the movement, warning that the Chinese were seeking ultimate power.

Najib stressed today, however, that the '1Melayu, 1Bumi' movement was unnecessary as the Malay community can unite by supporting Umno.

Kok called the PM "two-faced" for endorsing the multi-cultural 1 Malaysia concept and yet "turning a blind eye to Utusan Malaysia's racist invective".

"Utusan's call is outrageous because it suggests extremist, far-right, Malay supremacist tendencies which are totally against the 1 Malaysia concept preached by Prime Minister Najib Razak," said Kok.

"What is most outrageous of all is Najib's tolerance of and refusal to condemn Utusan Malaysia's racist invective," added the senior Selangor state executive councillor.

In a surprising move today, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad called the '1Melayu, 1Bumi' movement disastrous.

Dr Mahathir said that such a movement would eventually result in a two-party system, which would be dominated by the Malays and the Chinese on opposing sides of the divide.

This is the first time Dr Mahathir, a fervent Malay rights proponent and Perkasa patron, has disagreed with Perkasa and Utusan's ideas.

MCA - a Chinese guard dog or lap dog?

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 05:41 AM PDT

Friday night? Wakakaka, time for another Uncles' story, though this time kaytee will have more input.

This one is about Ma Wah or the MCA, and may I qualify, on Unc's insistence, that we are referring to CSL's MCA, as different from, for example, Ong Tee Keat's MCA.

Ready? ;-) Here goes:

Right on cue, predictably 'perfect' timing, Rover has responded to the 'heel' call by its master.

The moment Najib & Dr M spoke out against Utusan Malaysia '1Melayu 1 Bumi' movement, MCA's deputy publicity chief Loh Seng Kok came out to say
'1Melayu, 1Bumi' movement will lead to apartheid.

Incidentally, has anyone heard CSL saying thus far against the Utusan racist call? Maybe he now will wakakaka.

Yet, worse than Loh Seng Kok's echoing Najib, far far worse, has been CSL's falling into line with Utusan vindictive rant against the Sarawakian Chinese following the state election. The UMNO media mouthpiece had angrily proposed that
BN ignores Chinese vote, meaning Taib's government should institute deliberate marginalisation of the Chinese Sarawakians.

Its editorial (in its Awang Selamat column) states: "The average Chinese voters have rejected BN and supported DAP. Therefore the BN state government can no longer be too generous to give place to representatives from the community. Sarawak cabinet must be reflective of the decisions and attitude of the voters. The message must be sent." […]

With virtually indecent haste, though not surprising at all, CSL called upon the
SUPP not to accept any position in the Sarawak state cabinet because he asserted the party had lost the Chinese community's support.

CSL in talking down to SUPP, conveniently forgot that his MCA had also lost the Peninsula Chinese community's support when it was trounced severely in March 2008.

Failing to first look into the mirror, he pompously explained: "If it takes part in the Cabinet, I feel the Chinese of Sarawak would think it (SUPP) is there only for the seats and not to serve the community. Besides, SUPP's role in the Cabinet would be limited to only helping to resolve problems within the Chinese community. Even if its leaders are in the cabinet, I can foresee that they can't solve the community's problems."

The sweet irony of CSL's presumptuous advice to SUPP is that it applies perfectly to his own MCA. When he was reminded of this by Lim Guan Eng, on his hypocrisy in having a MCA ADUN in the Perak DUN where there was no significant support for the MCA, he blamed that aberration on Ong Tee Keat …

… which naturally brought the pugnacious Ong out to describe CSL as a contemptible liar for blaming others for his (CSL) own faults, as well as being an unmitigated hypocrite, because CSL had done what he told SUPP not to, in leapfrogging his own son, a junior to many far more deserving MCA MPs, forward for a deputy minister position.

MCA under CSL has been attempting to 'frighten' the Chinese community that the party is vital to their interests, just like Utusan, Perkasa and some UMNO members had been doing to the Malay community. These two race-based parties still believe the winning combination of 'fear' and 'hate' will ensure the desired negative motivation to vote for them.

Kaytee offers two observations:

Firstly, I'm not surprised that both CSL and Utusan failed to mention a single word about the alleged gross corruption and rampant abuse of power, etc committed by the Sarawak State government for the last 30 years. Those were some of the real reasons for the sea change in the rakyat's political attitude towards the State BN government. 'Twas a case of Sarawakians (not just Chinese) 'ta'boleh tahan lagi'.

OK lah, with Utusan you can't really be shocked by its deliberately slanted racist message, but it's really sad to see CSL in the same mould of self-serving non-objective denial, as he bleats the danger of the Chinese community not having representatives in the cabinet. Obviously his advice to SUPP was intended to accentuate that threat, for his own interests.

What's the bloody point of voting for CSL's MCA which still refuses to acknowledge that Malaysians, not just the Chinese, are fed up with the corrupt excesses that have been going on for the last 25 years.

While on corruption, thus far has anyone seen any movement in the PKFZ case since Ong Tee Keat handed over the president's post to CSL? Yawnnnn!

One thing before I move on to the next observation – don't say nor believe that the Chinese community support CSL. They don't; those who do are only the 500+ MCA central delegates who elected him over Ong Tee Keat as the MCA's president, a mere handful of unrepresentative Chinese.

In a survey just prior to the last MCA presidential challenge the Chinese community had overwhelmingly voiced their preference for Ong Tee Keat to head MCA, but alas, it was just a survey which involve only the Chinese community, which naturally the majority of the MCA central delegates chose to ignore … at their own political peril.

Secondly, whether the MCA or for that matter Gerakan, is in the cabinet, doesn't really matter to the Chinese community. It's known PM Najib has planned to 'work' directly with the Chinese because he has long realized that they have lost respect for, and confidence and trust in CSL's MCA. So, the Chinese community will still have a voice in the PM's ear, a direct one without going through the MCA. Whether the PM chooses to listen or not, it will make no difference if that voice comes from the MCA or directly from the Chinese community.

In a way, I'm glad of the PM's unstated intention because it will start the breakdown of a long outdated political concept of ethnic representation. Many Malaysians are like me in that we want both BN and Pakatan represent Malaysians rather than Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Kadazans, etc.

Thus my advice to the MCA is that, rather than attempt to make silly threats or scare the Chinese, the party would be better off with (a) a feisty and honest leader like Ong Tee Keat, (b) an anti-corruption program and a readiness to openly support and strive for accountability and transparency, and not least, (c) a strong, firm but reasonable voice in the cabinet that's truly representative of the Malaysian community (and not that of MCA leaders' personal interests).

In other words, don't just be Rover* that runs to heel at master's command. Be the rakyat's guard dog!

* One of my elder Uncs had a tear or two in his eyes when we discussed this because he still fondly remembers a far better MCA in his days.

Kempen Pemilihan PAS 2011 Bermula????

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 02:29 AM PDT

Posted on April 20, 2011 by tukangwahyu

When DAP's 'Change' implies a much more 'deep shit' future....

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 01:48 AM PDT

That is what one might conclude after seeing the kind of 'Change' that is being presented to us, the Malaysian voting public.

After all, the media hype with regard to the so called 'Change' that DAP seems to brandish in its rhetorical election banners doesn't really give us the assurance that the young candidates it presents to us the Malaysian citizenry are reliable as the 'future' generation of leaders to run or in reality 'ruin' this country.

Incompetence 101! From what we can see above, this kind of 'Change' only deserves our sympathy and some loose change!

Penangites would say, 'Hello Ah Moi! Nah ambik dua kupang, pi main jauh jauh!' :P

I am all for fresh young blood to reform the nation's governance but looking at the immature lost for words politicians that DAP has in the example shown above doesn't really promise that things will be better for Malaysia.

In fact we might end up inviting in the burglars for fear of the so called robbers at large!

The Malays sum it up nicely with the famous parable 'Takutkan perompak ; dijemput masuk penyamun!'

Is that what we want?

No sirree!

I want neither.

I'd prefer a brand new group of able and capable fresh politicians with no unsavory baggage.

Both the BN and the Opposition Pact need to present us with a better choice of candidates and get rid of corrupt, rhetoric spewing freeloaders.

Yes. We have all been forced to accept half past six political dinosaurs in both sides of the fence.

Its getting to be a tad boring to see the same old geezers hog the limelight and keep spewing useless banter year in year out!

Let's have some real change in the coming GE minus the 60+ old geezers who have in actuality gone way past the shelf expiry date.

If we are to have opposition, let such opposition be made up of reliable trustworthy young bright and brilliant proven to deliver candidates.

Not stammering, 'clueless in KL' or whatever other locale 'dumb blur' lame sorry excuses for politicians like what we have here.

Come on lah!

Malaysians need better!

We want to be served by professional people who know what the bloody hell they are talking about.

Not amateurs slotted in there like a rush job substitute!

You want to rule the land, you better be made up of true reliable calibre.

Not some pasar malam types who don't know heck about what's going on?

I hope PM Najib can learn from all the past screw ups taking place since he took office and learn to consult the alims and ulamaks before coming to any decision with regard to national issues that affect us all, like the recent Bible in Malay fiasco, he let slip past his fingers like handing over control of the matter to Idris with a torn' Jala'. 'Pun' intended'.

Its like asking the cat to watch over the fishes. :P

See what he has done?

Back to the matter at hand.

Malaysians deserve better quality politicians from both sides of the fence.

The clueless ones as in the example above would do better to go back to political science school!

Bloody embarrassing lah!
In the meantime, go ahead and keep the bistro owners happy....:P

After all is said and done, the YB's get to fatten their wallets and move to a brand new bungalow, complete with a flashy new car and driver.

The common Malaysians still have to live life as usual.

No more YB belanja. Sendiri bayar aa..

Let's listen to what the late Cikgu Naim has to sing about the YB :

Christ Did Not Die For Us In Vain

Posted: 22 Apr 2011 12:00 AM PDT

By Admin

We call this day good but how can we? Yes, I know why we call it Good Friday, but when we call it good we ignore His suffering and His death. In our greed, selfishness, and ego we call this day good. Yet Christ died on this day not to preserve our greed, selfishness, and ego, but to save the best part of us. Christ died to save the container within us that holds His love, His grace, His mercy, and His passion. This is the day of the year that I wish would end quickly for it is a day of mourning and grief. Every minute of this day I am constantly thinking about His suffering. We call this day good only because of ourselves. We are to die with Him on this day. Yet, He has spared us from knowing fully about all that He suffered.

Are we going to go about this day as if it is like every other day? Are going to pretend that on this day darkness did not come over the world? Are we going to go about our daily routine and do our daily jobs and not remember. On this day of remembrance, mourning, and grief, are we not going to remember, mourn, and grieve? Sadly, for most people they will not remember, they will not mourn, and they will not grieve. In a few hours I will stand before homeless men who have no hope, no inspiration, no perspective, and who are totally lost in life. I will deliver a seminar to help them as I do each week. However, on this day of sadness I hope the Lord keeps me a little more subdued and a little more humble. For Christ died on this day of darkness and I am grieving a bit now. Yes, I know there is a Sunday. You know it too. However, when you truly love someone with all your heart, all your soul, and all your might and that person suffers then you suffer with them. And He suffered as no other person suffered. And I do love Him with as much of my heart, soul, and might that I have.

Maybe I should not take this all so personally. Maybe I should just occupy my mind with other things. Maybe I should be "objective", cold, heartless, and selfish about Christ death on the Cross. Then again, I do not have that kind of heart. He is my friend, my supporter, my source of new things to post here, he is my Savior. I cannot be objective, cold, heartless, and selfish for He has molded me and shaped me. He has given me a sensitive heart to pour out this kind of personal grief for the world to see and know about.

What must the Blessed Virgin Mary have felt on this day? Who could even begin to fathom the pain in her heart? What must the other Mary and John have felt on this day so long ago. None of us is capable of knowing or even speculating what was in their hearts as they watched our Savior die. What do we feel about Him? Do we die with Him? Do we take in His love and immerse ourselves in His mercy? What grips us about this day?

It is believed but not documented that Christ died about three o'clock in the afternoon. There had been an earthquake and the sun had gone dark. All day the Blessed Virgin, the other Mary, and John had been there. What devastation they must have experienced! What doubts must have filled the minds and hearts of Christ's apostles and followers! What darkness had fallen upon the world! We can look forward to Sunday. However, none of these people could look forward to anything. All they could do was weep. What devastation the power of Satan and evil had wrought! What devastation the power of Satan loves to bestow upon the world! Do we still weep or have we become hardened and uncaring?

The Lord's body would have been taken down from the Cross by this time of the day. It is the end of the workday for most people. It is time to go home, to relax, and to rest. It is time to put the day behind you. However, do you suppose the Lord wants you to put what happened to Him behind you? It has been a long day. This particular Friday is always the day of the year I dread the most. It is the day that never seems to come to an end if you spend it in remembrance, in grief, and in mourning. What do we do now? We keep remembering while the rest of the world either forgets or goes about pretending this day never happened.

Christ's Passion and Death will be meaningless if those who profess Jesus is Lord continue to support and be a part of Regime's around the World that drowns the Good News of The Lord with a perverted form of truth that runs contrary to the Will of God. Whether it is the Regime's in Latin America, Africa or even here in Malaysia, where strangely we find Christians continuing to be a part of or are supporters of the Evil BN/Umno Regime with it's subtle persecution of Christians and people of other faiths in this Malaysia.

Let it be the Christian duty for every Christian to stand up for Truth and Justice. Let's start by casting BN/Umno to the depths of Hell together with all it's lies, glamor and seduction.

The Scribe and the Blog Team of MarGeeMar wishes everyone a Blessed Good Friday.

RM50m “1Malaysia email”

Posted: 21 Apr 2011 11:55 PM PDT

From here

As you may be aware, Tricubes Bhd has been selected for the RM50m "1Malaysia email" service. But who owns Tricubes?

Let's take a look at their Annual Report for 2010:

Major shareholders of Tricubes Berhad

As you can see, apart from CEO Khairul Zainal Mokhtar's 31 per cent stake, Commerce Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (CTV) owns 16 per cent of Tricubes. Who owns CTV? According to the official portal of the Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre (Mastic), CTV is a "partnership of Bank Negara Malaysia and the Commerce Group in promoting and developing technology financing in Malaysia".

And "CTV is managed by CAV Private Equity Management Sdn Bhd, a member of the Commerce Asset-Holding Bhd group of companies."

So who actually owns CTV? CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, as can be seen below in CIMB's Annual Report for 2010.

Among the non-executive directors of Tricubes is Khairul's father-in-law, former commissioner of police Zaman Khan.

Of interest is the 'Emphasis of Matter' in the external auditor's report on Tricubes:

Without qualifying our opinion, we draw attention to Note 2 (b) of the notes to the financial statements. The Group incurred a net loss of RM3,346,752 and the Company recorded a net profit of RM653,582 for financial year ended 31 March 2010 and as of that date, the Group's and the Company's accumulated losses amounted to RM16,520,722 and RM4,938,227 respectively. These conditions indicate the existence of material uncertainties which may cast doubt on the Group and the Company's ability to continue as a going concern. The ability of the Group and of the Company to continue as going concerns depends upon the securing of viable contracts and continued support of bankers, creditors and shareholders.

Hmm, how did they select a group that is clouded with "material uncertainties" that may cast doubt on its ability "to continue as a going concern"?

It is obvious the group, which has a paid up capital of just RM13.4m, is hoping to secure more government contracts. The Tricubes Chairman's statement reads:

The Group expects to repeatedly close new orders from various banks, financial institutions and several government agencies in the next financial year for its T1030 and Sekure 3 products.

In addition, with the 10th Malaysia Plan coming into the picture, the Group is expected to enjoy a boost from greater government spending in the ICT sector. The Group's prospective opportunities will remain generated from government agencies such as the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara, Road Transport Department and Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), and the Group is targeting to penetrate other agencies such as the Immigration Department of Malaysia and the Ministry of Education.

The biggest question many are asking is, why do Malaysians need a new email address when most who have internet access already have one or more email addresses? And especially when you consider that many in the rural areas don't even have internet access and in some places, not even electricity supply, let alone computers…

It look as if the email service will be "powered by" Tricubes and Windows Live. See the myemail website.

Who will benefit most from this RM50m project? If it is privately funded, where will its revenue come from?

Ketua2 Kampung di Selangor Dapat Caruman Takaful Bernilai RM30k

Skim Perlindungan Takaful : Keprihatinan Kerajaan Selangor Dihargai
Thursday, 21 April 2011 Ruangan: Berita

Yet Some More Earthquakes In Japan

Japan seems to be on a roll when it comes to seismic activity.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 rocked eastern and
northeastern Japan on Thursday night, registering lower 5 on the
Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Chiba Prefecture, the Japan
Meteorological Agency said. There were no immediate reports of
casualties or damage from the quake that struck the region around 10:37
p.m., the agency said. No tsunami warning was issued.

The quake, focused in the Pacific off Chiba Prefecture, registered lower
5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in Asahi, Chiba Prefecture,
and 4 in many cities and towns in Chiba and neighboring Ibaraki
Prefecture, according to the agency. The earthquake also shook Miyagi,
Fukushima, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Kanagawa and Yamanashi prefectures
as well as Tokyo.

Here's why Japan's earthquakes were so strong.

The first two hours of Japan's massive magnitude-9.0 earthquake has
revealed surprising information about how such huge earthquakes rupture.

Jam "OMEGA" Anwar itu Sebenarnya Dari Taiwan – POLIS

Posted: 21 Apr 2011 08:15 PM PDT

Malaysiakini melaporkan:

Though it was previously widely reported in the pro-Umno blogs that the watch was a gift from the Saudi Arabian royal household, Berita Harian reported that the police have traced the watch to Taiwan, where it was bought in 2004.

"The issue of the watch is not so important. However, based on checks with the dealer in Taiwan, it only started recording the owners' particulars from 2008 onwards.

"So if it was bought in 2004, it would be very hard for the police to identify who owns it, unless the owner were to register the watch voluntarily," said the source.

Sarbani: Kastam Kecewa Dengan Siasatan Polis

Posted: 21 Apr 2011 07:40 PM PDT

Nota Editor: Kalau kematian Teoh Beng Hock kelmarin mereka kata bunuh diri.
Kecewa Jika Kematian Sarbani Dianggap SDRApril 21, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR – Presiden Kesatuan Pegawai-pegawai Kastam Semenanjung, Ibrahim Ahmad kecewa jika siasatan polis masih mengaitkan kematian Allahyarham Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamed, penolong pengarah Kastam Diraja Malaysia dengan kematian mengejut (SDR).

Baru Bian Sudah Berfikir Seperti PAS

Posted: 21 Apr 2011 07:37 PM PDT

Baru revealed that in some constituencies, PKR had only a handful or no branches. He also disclosed that PKR had only five women's wing branches at the division level.

"I have been emphasising this over and over, yet a lot of our local leaders think that popularity alone is enough. I told them to set up ranting (branches) in all longhouses.

"In my area, I have more than 30 branches, which includes some women's and youth wing branches. The women's wing was particularly effective," said Baru.

Perkataan "AlQuran: Tiada Dalam Perlembagaan UMNO

Posted: 21 Apr 2011 07:16 PM PDT

MCA, selesaikan masalah sendiri dulu - Jangan masuk campur hal Sarawak

Posted: 21 Apr 2011 11:40 PM PDT

MCA sepatutnya membersihkan rumahnya sendiri dahulu.

Now it's better than Gerakkan time. One can say anything to the contrary,I am extremely fascinated by the way the state is managed" kata seorang Melayu yang saya kenali begitu lama.
