Tribespeople in Sarawak, in the Malaysian part of Borneo, say the 30-year rule of Chief Minister Taib Mahmud has 'raped' their land, destroyed their rainforests and brought 'hardship and suffering'.

This Saturday, March 26, will mark Taib Mahmud's 30th anniversary as head of the rainforest state. Malaysia's longest-serving Chief Minister, he has faced widespread and persistent allegations of corruption.

Taib Mahmud will face hotly contested elections on April 16. He has announced that he will retire after the polls, but observers are skeptical as no date has been given.

The Penan tribe have seen logging companies, licensed by Taib Mahmud's government, devastate huge tracts of the forests they rely on.

One Penan woman told Survival, 'Our land and our river have been destroyed by the logging company, by the oil palm plantation. Everything has been destroyed – our sago, our fish, our river – all the jungle's produce that we depend on has been destroyed. It brings hardship and suffering to our land.'

Sarawak's tribespeople have condemned Taib Mahmud for razing their forests. A member of the Tring and Berawan tribes told Survival, 'Taib has been in power for 30 years, and most of our forests, maybe 80%, have gone. They have been chopped down by Taib and his cronies. He is just raping the whole thing, and now indigenous people in Sarawak are really poor.'

Indigenous leader Jok Jau Evong said, 'Taib thinks that Sarawak is his own property. The longer he stays on as Chief Minister, the more he thinks the state is his own to take.'

Taib Mahmud's government does not respect the Penan's hunter-gatherer lifestyle. He once said, 'How can we have an equal society when you allow a small group of people to behave like animals in the jungle…. I owe it to the Penans to get them gradually into the mainstream so that they can be like any other Sarawakian.'

Many Penan have faced imprisonment for their opposition to the bulldozers.

Survival's director Stephen Corry said today, 'Taib has sold the Penan's future to the highest bidder. When he took power, their rainforest was largely intact. Now, they're fighting to protect the last patches of forest.'

The world right now is in a complete spin. We are facing mounting problems and chaos in our own country as no one feels that they have enough: the rich want more power while everyone else just wants to survive. At the same time we have no idea what will happen next in the Middle East. All this upheaval is based on massive lies, deception, fear and greed. This Badeaux is a confirmed mercenary with the written word. Heck he has not even been to this part of the world and can't place where Malaysia is on the world map.
Just another APCO's attempt to earn their keeps.

Has Christopher Badeaux conveniently forgotten about Najib and his wife Rosmah's probable roles in the grisly murder of Altantuya, roles that were never satisfactorily absolved? That crime may have been swept under the carpet, but is a far more serious crime than what's purported of Anwar, and yet Najib remains Prime Minister of Malaysia. What say you, Christopher? By the way, Christopher, are you involved with APCO in any way?

Christopher, do you even know the legalities of the accusations against Anwar? If this happened in the US, can consensual sex lead to the conviction of one and not the other partner? If a US court knew of the presence of multiple partners' DNA in the anus of someone who claims that he was only sodomized by one person, would that US court even entertain such an accusation or would that accusation be dismissed immediately and the case thrown out of court? Sometimes, common sense is not a common thing, and some people like Christopher apparently does not have it.

His portrayal of the events suggests that he is either an idiot who just consume whatever he is told to believe in or he is just another who rabble on uninterested in the truth of the matter.

Assumptions are broadly made and insinuations are abound without solid authority. Does he really knows what happened and how the current event is unfolding? I guess not. so, its safe to say that this idiot likes to rabble on without any interest in the facts or truth of what he tries to write about.

Just another idiot…….only time will reveal just how big an idiot he is!

GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT FIRST before trying to indulge in the topic, arsehole!

It's always a treat when memes collide. In the video below, one of 2009′sbeloved memes

When Hernan Cortes and his Spanish armada arrived in Tenochtitlan (present day Mexico City), the Aztec natives thought he was their God, Quetzalcoatl. They worshipped the Spaniards but the Spaniards oppressed and subjugated them. Their worship of Cortes in the end destroyed them when their Aztec leader Montezuma and his people were wiped out by the Spaniards.

In Sarawak, the natives worship Chief Minister Taib Mahmud so much so that even if they have been oppressed and subjugated, they know it not. The native people of Sarawak treat Taib as some sort of benevolent deity who can do no wrong. As for their abject poverty, they have come to accept it as a way of life, something that is normal and natural. Therefore, they never question or grumble about their lot in life.

It is in the interests of Barisan Nasional to keep the natives uninformed, misinformed and badly informed. These simple folk know not of Taib's immeasurable wealth and riches and the empire he has built.

Due to their ignorance, they continue to vote Taib and BN election after election after election as they are dutifully grateful for the little cash and food hampers that are given to them nearing election time and during the election period.

The only silver lining is that education and awareness campaigns have been making an impact, cutting back at Taib's influence slowly but surely. The ball is round and just as no one can predict the outcome of a football match, success is likely but no longer a given for the 74-year old.

Villians? To the tribal folk, Taib and team are like 'deities'

Nevertheless Dr Hiew King Cheu who campaigned in the Sibu by-election last year, admits it is very difficult to change the mindset of the natives.

"Sad to say, many of the natives go for short-term instant-noodles gratification – RM500 and a food hamper, perhaps even a television set. They do not understand that for the long-term and for a better future it is imperative to change the government," Hiew, the DAP MP for Kota Kinabalu, told Malaysia Chronicle.

In the natives' simplistic view, when BN leaders visit them, it is as if they have been graced by the visitation of the gods who will render showers of blessing upon them. In the natives' psyche, BN has taken on the role of a deity or a god and these BN leaders should therefore be accorded undivided loyalty.

That's why the BN leaders receive the adoration of the masses amounting to worship. There seems to be an aura of invincibility surrounding Taib and the BN leaders who manipulate the mind of the Sarawakian natives through showmanship speeches.

These natives, through government propaganda and control of the mainstream media, have created for themselves a visible 'godhead' in Taib Mahmud. But sad to say, it is through this tangible 'deity' which they themselves created that they are oppressed, suppressed and repressed.

Thus, Taib – despite the mountain of corruption allegations dogging him, his family and many members of his BN team – are expected to survive. They may retain the upperhand although the upcoming state election will be their most bitter and the toughest yet.

"BN uses the taxpayers' money to give short-term benefits to the natives and by doing that, they have secured the natives' votes. Thus, the natives will forever be enslaved in poverty because their mind has been enslaved," said Hiew.

"They will forever remain in BN's grip as they are unable to wean themselves away from the instant gratification culture. Good governance, transparency and accountability in government administration are alien to them. It is very difficult to explain these concepts to them and therefore, Sabah and Sarawak will continue to be BN's fixed deposit."

The truth will set you free

In the Bible, there is a verse which says, 'the truth will set you free.' How true! If the natives know the truth about Taib, they will not vote him anymore. But as long as the truth is hidden from them, they will continue to be enslaved and will not know that their idol has got clay feet.

Sarawak is indeed a very sad story of downtrodden peoples who continue to perpetuate their own situation due to being kept in ignorance and due to being gullible.

The Penan women have been raped and victimised. Though this horror continue to exist, little is being done to assist them.

For this sin, surely not just the state BN but also the federal government must be responsible. A National Task Force report itself depicts the abuses, yet Prime Minister Najib Razak continues to praise Taib to the skies for in Taib's hands lies his own fate.

Najib needs Taib to survive and not vice versa. So don't expect any help from Kuala Lumpur.

"When general election comes, BN will pile the natives with gifts and continue to get their votes. Even now, promises are being made by BN to obtain their support. But after BN wins, the BN MP or state assemblyman will say to the natives, 'I have already raised the issue of your grouses to the higher-ups and they are looking into it' or 'I have asked the government to build the roads, streelights, toilets but they have told us to wait as the allocation is going to be approved," Hiew continued to recount.

He has seen the same story played out over again and again. The natives continue to live without electricity and water supply while waiting for the BN's promises to be fulfilled. But nothing ever changes and the situation will always remain this way so long as the natives continue to vote BN, he warned.

"Listen to the voice of truth because only we can free ourselves. We must use the power of the ballot box to claim what is righfully due to us," Hiew urged his fellow Sarawakians.

MODERATE MUSLIM TEST

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 11:20 AM PDT

This is a test that I have devised to judge whether a Muslim is moderate or not. It isn't the most perfect test, of course, but it works. Using this test, so far, I have found many perceived moderate Muslims do be no different than terrorists. Here is how the test goes.

You have to ask the following two questions in the same order as they are presented here:

1) So, you drink alcohol, but do you also eat pork? (This question does not help in judging whether the Muslim is moderate or not. Of course if the Muslim eats pork, he might very well be a moderate but the point of this question is to ease them into thinking that the questioner is truly just asking a question and has no other agenda.)

2) What do you think about Israel? (This is the question the answer to which will help you judge whether a Muslim is truly moderate or not. It is because the issue of Israel is so hot in Muslim minds that you should always ask the first question before you get on to this one. That way, the Muslims don't just blow up and might, I repeat, might answer in a manner that humans can understand, and not just dogs.)

It takes practice, of course, to remain patient while you hear their response. Sometimes a lot of them say that they are not political but that is very rare. You have to also remember to follow up their answers with more questions. You can actually expose a whole lot of them using this technique. I have done so on many occasions—that is, exposed them left right and center.

I have used the same techniques on Arab Christians and more often than not, I have found them to be no different than Muslim terrorists in the way they think.

Penerangan Berkenaan Bukti Twitter and Facebook Anwar Dalam Isu Video Blue Rahim Tamby Chik

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 09:28 AM PDT

Video seks: Alibi Twitter Anwar terus dibahas
Mac 28, 11 4:33pm

Berikut ringkasan hujah-hujah Mohd Rafizi:

Arman said the group lacks "political will" and cannot influence government policies. "The NGO's struggles will not come to fruition because there is no political will. We can do a lot of things as a NGO but the policies are still being implemented by political parties. "Perkasa has no plan to be a political party and it never will be," he told a press conference in a Kuala Lumpur restaurant this evening. Full Story: www.malaysiakini.com

Jangan ambil alih tugas Tuhan

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 08:02 AM PDT

Jangan ambil tugas Tuhan.

Dutch rise up against bankers on ridiculous bonuses

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 07:43 AM PDT

It's people power in motion. They are so upset "their politicians have voted to implement a 100% retrospective tax on all bonuses paid to executives at institutions that received state aid as a result of the financial crisis. In other words, no banker should get a bonus until the debt is cleared, and they should return payments made since 2008." Way to go, people!

Dutch bankers' bonuses axed by people power

By
Richard Wachman in Amsterdam
The Observer, Sunday 27 March 2011

An online campaign has overturned ING's executive pay policy, and the mood in Amsterdam is getting increasingly militant about bonuses at bailed-out banks.

Customers at Dutch bank ING threatened to collectively withdraw deposits in protest against bonuses awarded to executives. Photograph Frank Rumpenhorst/EPA

Britain has a rival when it comes to bashing bankers. After a furious row over pay packages at Amsterdam-based ING in which thousands of customers threatened to make mass withdrawals, the Netherlands is now vying for the title of Europe's most bonus-hating country.

A growing Dutch political storm could end with a blanket ban on bonuses to financiers who work for institutions bailed out by the taxpayer.

ING customers mobilised on Twitter and other social networks to protest at bonuses paid to bosses at the bank, one of the biggest in the country. The threat of direct action raised the spectre of a partial run on ING, terrifying the Dutch establishment. Fred Polhout, union organiser at the bank, says: "People were outraged. We heard about the bloated sums being paid again in the City and in New York; but suddenly the issue exploded on our own front door."

Compared with the packages awarded to bankers in the US and UK, the Dutch bonuses were small potatoes. Jan Hommen, ING's chief executive, was due to receive a £1m bonus – a pittance when you consider that Stephen Hester, head of state-controlled RBS in the UK, is in line for up to £7.7m, Bob Diamond of Barclays is to collect as much as £6.5m, and some senior bankers at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan are looking at windfalls of about £40m each.

"Perhaps we are so upset because we are a small country that prefers to set an example, rather than follow others," suggests Polhout.

So severe was the public reaction to Hommen's bonus that within days he had agreed to waive the award and told other ING directors to do the same.

Now the Netherlands is going through a painful period of introspection and soul-searching. Politicians have voted to implement a 100% retrospective tax on all bonuses paid to executives at institutions that received state aid as a result of the financial crisis. In other words, no banker should get a bonus until the debt is cleared, and they should return payments made since 2008.

ING was thrown a €10bn (£8.7bn) lifeline to stop it going under, while ABN Amro was nationalised. Numerous other Dutch financial firms received capital support, including Aegon, SNS Reaal and ASR Nederland.

On the streets of Amsterdam, there is little sympathy for the bankers. Emma Rohl, who works at an English bookshop in the city centre, says: "They shouldn't get bonuses at all. Why should people be paid vast sums for going into work and doing their jobs? It's utterly ridiculous."

Erick Koenig at a nearby restaurant says: "We rescued the banks from their own follies, and now they expect to be paid extra. I think they should work for free for at least five years."

At a dusty office in a northern suburb of Amsterdam, Henk van der Kolk, head of the country's biggest trade union, FNV Bondgenoten, does nothing to conceal his frustration: "Everybody is angry about what happened at ING. The board isn't in tune with public opinion. What were they thinking of? ING pensioners have seen their payouts frozen, while many employees were awarded a pay increase of just 1%."

Van der Kolk's union is pushing for a law that would ensure that executive pay should never amount to more than 20 times the wage paid to the lowest-salaried employee. As for bonuses, the union feels payouts should not exceed 50% of a director's salary. Hommen's bonus was worth 92% of his €1.35m package.

"Remuneration for bankers was linked to financial machismo, which encouraged irresponsible lending. We want to get away from the bonus culture," says van der Kolk.

But given the payouts to ING directors were relatively small, some Dutch bankers are shocked they have received another public mauling.

One ING insider suggests the country was in the grip of a "typically Dutch Lutheran and Calvinist backlash" which cultivates the view that excessive wealth is somehow morally reprehensible and in contravention of traditional Dutch, Christian values. The source says: "We went through this during the boom when ministers railed against stock options and bankers were accused of exhibitionism, and enriching themselves to the detriment of the nation."

The bankers' response that high remuneration is vital to retain talent and prevent Dutch financiers from defecting to overseas banks is given short shrift by Polhout. He says: "Let them go abroad if they don't like it here, there are plenty of clever people who will take their place and work for less. Good riddance, as far as I am concerned."

Moderate opinion in Holland seems united in its belief that banks which received state aid should not be shelling out bonuses. And Dutch parliamentarians are saying the same thing, demanding the government take immediate action. ING may have made a net profit last year of more than €3bn, but it still owes the taxpayer €5bn.

The uproar against Hommen's bonuses and those earmarked for the bank's senior executives have forced ING to rethink its position. Hommen promises no more bonuses till 2012/13 when the bank expects to have repaid all state aid. In a letter to Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant, he said: "We have underestimated the signal we sent to society. [We] have [risked] renewed damage to the recovering trust of our customers."

Few doubt a critical factor behind ING's volte face was the boycott threatened by consumers.

A spokesman for the bank admitted the payment of bonuses "prompted a reaction from our customers via emails and telephone messages to our call centres." But he said only a few hundred people had actually closed their accounts.

Now the ball is in the court of finance minister Jan Kees de Jager, who must decide how to respond to a proposal by parliament calling for the return of bonuses by all executives at state-supported banks. On a recent television show, he said such a law would be difficult to implement and would hit bankers on average salaries who receive bonuses of just a few thousand euros. But in today's highly charged political atmosphere, de Jager knows that doing nothing is probably not an option.

PKR Stampin Chief See Chee How gives way…”

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 07:30 AM PDT

Party lines and discipline remains very much in PKR See Chee Hows vocalbury and he believes in the politics of agreement instead of the confrontational stance. In a telephone interview he told audie61 that he is giving way to DAP to keep the spirit of the opposition alive and if DAP feels that they can topple and win the seat he will abide by the Central and State leadership election committee.

If everyone squabbles and are unreasonable it will be "free for all" against the BN coalition. Of course he says keeping his next move very much guarded meaning that he will be offered another seat but just saying," When one door closes the other will open."

We will still see Chee How the PKR Sarawak Information Chief contesting in this 10th state elections. See Chee how said," its another lady taking on the might of SUPP in Batu Kawah" She might also do what Violet Yong did in 2006 that is being a giant killer when she beat Sim Kheng Hui, who was the state assemblyman for Pending since the state election in 1991 and was the Assistant Minister of Culture and Urbanisation, with a majority of 4,372 votes.

This time its Christina Chiew a 26 year old and an engineer who works for an industrial company at Muara Tabuan and is also a Special Assistant to State Assemblywoman for Pending, Violet Yong.

She will be taking on an Assistant Minister in the Chief Ministers office Tan Joo Pooi 59 year old who holds a diploma in management from the university of technology Australia. In 2006 Tan a newcomer then locked horns with PKR Wong Huan Yu and comfortably defeated his opponent in this semi urban constituency of nearly 16327 voters.

Christina will be eyeing to follow the footsteps of her master in Violet and she will certainly be given some lessons on how "to win over the voters" Will she be allowed to do that? Its up to Tan Joo Pooi to stop her from making any headway. The BN team in Batu Kawah will have their hands full and it will be up to the coalition to assist Tan.

If there are any cracks within the BN coalition Christina will set her sights on capitalising on the weaknesses. Its up to Tan and his team to safeguard this safe BN bastion. We will know by 16th of april whether Christina will be victorious or crushed.

Tan must work hard as Chee How has already been shown the door by DAP Christina…

WOW! Only 108 left?

By Jayanath Appudurai

ACCORDING to the Government Transformation Programme [GTP] Annual Report released on 27 March 2011, there are only "108 extreme poor households" left. The GTP within a span of 12 months transformed the lives of 44,535 extreme poor households. {See Chart}

To say the least, this is a stupendous achievement! An intractable problem that the nation has been grappling with for more than 40 years has ostensibly been solved in 1 year!
Should not the Government be lauded for this?

Guess, it all depends on how 'extreme poor' is defined?

ASWARA ooooh ASMARA!!!

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 06:52 AM PDT

It has been over a decade since the establishment of the National Arts Culture and Heritage Academy (Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan or ASWARA) near Padang Merbok, KL. It objective is to produce creative performers, to nurture artistic talent and develop leaders in local arts.

In fact, ASWARA is the only institute of higher learning in Malaysia that provides formal training courses in the arts, culture and heritage to Malaysians.

It plays a sentimental role in giving birthto future scholars, thinkers, writers, motivators and artists who are knowledgeable, professional, resilient and highly capable. The government's effort, especially the Ministry of Information, Communication and Heritage is already paying off.

In tandem with our vision to emerge as a developed nation by the year 2020, education in the arts, culture and heritage is also an important part of the agenda to develop the country. Its is our diversified culture that mends our 'bangsa Malaysia' together.

I have been to ASWARA many times, especially to watch their shows and performances. The students got superb talent. I remember PM Najib was there to watch a show about Tun Razak while former PM Tun Dr Mahathir was there for another show.

Undoubtedly ASWARA has made many great advancements but the government, notably the ministry seem to be neglecting it in some aspects.

ASWARA makes us proud because it is another 'Berkeley' in the country. However, it is sad to note that the academy is being mistreated. I dont know what Datuk Rais Yatim or Sec-Gen Datuk Kamaruddin got to say about this. ASWARA is being treated as a third-class academy despite offering diplomas in about 15 disciplines.

There are about 800 students, only a few of whom stay in the hostel. The rest has to find houses or rooms elsewhere.

About 70 per cent of its students came from Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan and other States. They are 'kampung' boys and girls who are willing to go against all odds to attain their dream of becoming professional musicians, singers, orchestra conductors, film producers, choreographers, dancers, etc.

But their welfare is not being taken care off. They are not eligible for a single sen of our PTPTN study loan. Why? Are ASWARA certs and diplomas not recognised by the government and its agencies? Why didnt the ministry do anything about it?

The fees are not cheap either. Most students from the rural areas are poor, so poor that they sometimes have to share or skip meals! Of course, they dont expect much from their parents. They are like beggars when it come to utility and daily needs.

Sorry to say, this 'poor' condition has led to an alarming social problem among some of them, especially those without a place in the hostel. They are forced to to 'anything' for survival, to pay rentals, transportation, meals, mobile phones and others.

Some parents say ASWARA is turning into an ASMARA. I agree!

I hope Rais and his officials take a deeper look into this problem. It belongs to the government. If we cant take care of it, especially the students' welfare, better close it for good. Do not turn the students into destitute and prostitutes.

Unless we want to see sex videos being produced by some of them!

Forging a political alliance is probably one of the most difficult things that humans can do because we are talking about politicians here and politicians are not known for giving up their territory without a fight or at least very lucrative compensation.

Therefore the two elements that can guarantee the success and continuity of any political alliance is a coherent and compelling argument for getting together and giving up individual party aspirations for a greater good or a truck load of money every Wednesday, in that order.

Money doesn't work on everyone but an intelligent and airtight argument usually does the trick for the thinking person

but the only problem is that every party may have slightly different objective compared to the next party

and they see a particular view from a different vantage point so an argument that seems airtight from one angle may leave huge gaping holes from another.

The so-called Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement thinks that just because they have a good objective that everyone should follow them.

Well, the thing is every political party is set up with good objectives as seen from their point of view.

If you don't believe me just read their articles of association and it would probably say what the objectives of the party is and you wouldn't find enough dirt there to make a dot mucky.

The MLCM were quite perplexed as to why PKR, PAS and KITA did not join the roundtable themed Coming together to forge a pro-rakyat 13th Federal Government.

Firstly, the theme is preachy, its as if no one has thought of it before but you would expect that from a bunch of sanctimonius so and sos who think that whoever do not subscribe to their narrow political views are stupid.

The strange thing is, these people usually call themselves liberals...how funny is that, how does one evaluate oneself to be liberal? just by opposing everything that the Government of the day does? just by pushing the boundary of normalcy?  or just by breaking conventions?

So what about people who like what the Government is doing, who thinks it is peachy to stay normal and find peace in adhering to conventions, are they stupid? are they just idiots?

And what makes the MCLM think that PAS, PKR and KITA  and every party within Barisan Nasional were not set up to champion those very ideas of pro-rakyat Government? doesn't every political party want to form a pro-rakyat Government?

A political party wouldn't stay in power for long if it didn't form a pro-rakyat Government and it is important to remember that a pro-rakyat Government is one that does its best to take care of the needs and demands of as many people as possible, the majority even.

Maybe MLCM thinks that Malaysians no longer have any need for Development Politics and this assessment may be correct in some urban areas

Maybe MLCM thinks that Malaysians do not appreciate the peace and progress that we have enjoyed the last 50 years - sure changing the Government is a radical idea and we may or may not have have riots on the streets but most people work on the balance of probability and they weigh the pros and cons before deciding, who knows which way the scale will tip in their heads

Maybe MLCM thinks everything that the BN Government has done so far is anti-rakyat, ideas like EPF, ideas like ASB, ideas like REIT, ideas like national schools, Felda, Risda, Tabung Haji, rural air service, affirmative action are all anti-rakyat

Or maybe they think that because  LRT systems, highway networks, airports, and other infrastructure projects are evil and anti-rakyat because they may require land acquisition.

Well, go ask the people of Kampung Buah Pala why Guan Eng signed the development order for their village even though it was his election promise to protect them and not give in to the developers?

and that was a private development project and not some far reaching infra building programme.

The fact is, the job of Government is hard enough without some holier-than-thou prig telling you that you are stupid.

I can't tell you why PAS, PKR and KITA did not join Haris Ibrahim in his mutual admiration club but I suspect it has something to do with the mindset and attitude of those championing it.

from the last few months it is quite clear that MCLM doesn't hold high regard for PKR, thanks in no small part to the hilariously inadequate participation of members in its party elections and the apparent nepotism and cronyism that orbits the party's core Anwar Ibrahim.

It should come to no surprise that anyone who considers himself liberal because they drink beer and eat Bak Kut Teh would look down on the conservative views of PAS.

In fact PAS is viewed with much disdain by both DAP and PKR and we know this because the Chinese-dominated party never tires of telling PAS that they got their extra seats because of DAP and the Chinese support that they bring.

They are also quick to remind that PAS' performance in the 12th general election is the poorest among the three biggest Pakatan Rakyat party and therefore they are the weakest.

Never once did they consider that the reason PAS got the smallest number of increase in Parliamentary seats is because the level of Chinese support that the DAP brought to Pakatan Rakyat and PAS in their mostly Malay-majority constituencies are the least impressive.

Never once did DAP consider that they managed to get so many new seats in their mixed and Malay-majority seats is thanks to very strong PAS image and branding among Malays.

Never one did they consider that PAS is the real backbone of Pakatan Rakyat - or maybe they do know it but they need to keep PAS submissive so they bear down on the party's self image with relentless talking-down.

Anyway, just take another look at the dog picture at the beginning of the post and see where they put DAP, PKR and PAS.

DAP is smack on top of the dog's head while PKR and PAS is way back on the shoulder...a slip perhaps? or just a display of their mental image of the two Malay-dominated party?

Politics is a game of perception and sentiments and if you leave behind two of the three key components of Pakatan Rakyat, they are going to notice it, even if you don't say it out loud.

By this time it is quite clear to many Malaysians that DAP is in the driver seat of Pakatan Rakyat while Anwar Ibrahim is a wooden marionette at best, taken out to amuse the crowd and gather attention and this is causing great discomfort deep in the heart of every Malay - Oh you can go ahead and accuse me of being a racist but I am only stating the truth here.

MCLM is not a genuine civil liberties movement it is merely an organ of the opposition and worse than that, the MCLM is nothing more than a mouthpiece for people who think that the most important thing in life is to keep left.

In anything that we do, if we keep going in one direction we will soon end up where we started from, we would go no further than the circles we describe around our prejudices,

if MCLM wants to be a genuine civil liberties movement it would do well to embrace the right as well as the left

a true liberal is one who can accept and understand every hue of persuasion from East to West and sadly the people helming the MCLM are not they

and that is why the MCLM will never find a cogent enough argument to hold the various political ideals that are carried by the various parties is desires to bind as one

and I for one am the happier for it because I would never want a sanctimonious prig to lead the way.
