Petronas Records 24 Per Cent Decline in PBT to RM67.3 Billion PDF Print

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 JULY, 2010: Petronas recorded a 24.5 per cent decline in pre-tax profit to RM67.3 billion for the year ended March 31, 2010, from
RM89.1 billion in 2009.

Revenue fell 18.1 per cent to RM216.4 billion from RM264.2 billion, Petronas President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Shamsul Azhar Abbas said today.

He said that the national oil corporation's net profit also dropped by 23.2 per cent to RM40.3 billion from RM52.5 billion.

He said the lower profit and revenue was due to weaker crude oil demand.

"The year in review proved to be unusually difficult and challenging for the Petronas group as the first peacetime global recession, since the Great
Depression, took its toll on the global oil and gas industry," Shamsul told a media briefing here.

As for the proposed listing of some of its petrochemical units as announced by the government, he said they would be listed by the year-end.

Yesterday's post is relevant:(

MEANW'ILE, the gomen continues to BULL_SHIT about rising petrol subsidies when the world's oil prices in recent days rose above the US100 per barrel mark. Malaysia as a NET PRODUCER AND EXPORTER OF OIL -- WHICH ALSO COMMANDS PREMIUM PRICE -- SHOULD BE CELEBRATING! Instead the Gomen intimates--yeah. you are the number one people of Najib's mind! -- that there will soon be a price increase at the pumps. Desi has gotten tired of rebutting this argument -- will try to REPRISE from an olde post, OK!

Extra RM4bil subsidy if no petrol price adjustments

KUALA LUMPUR:
The fuel subsidy is estimated to rise by an additional RM4bil this year if no adjustments are made to petrol prices, which stand at RM1.90 per litre for RON 95 and RM2.50 per litre for RON 97.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said at a press conference Wednesday, after a briefing by Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, that subsidy costs for fuel would rise by this amount if no adjustments were made in the face of higher crude oil prices.

This would mean that the allocation for fuel subsidy under Budget 2011, which was set at RM10bil based on oil prices hovering around US$85 (RM259) to US$90 (RM274) per barrel, would rise to RM14bil this year.

Besides this, the Government has also allocated RM4bil for other subsidies. For 2010, the fuel subsidy came up to RM10bil.

Economists have also estimated that should oil prices remained above US$100 (RM305), the Government might need to fork out an additional RM3.5bil to RM4bil for the fuel subsidy.

Najib added that the deficit would depend on how much revenue the Government would get against the increase in subsidy costs.

The Government has targeted a budget deficit at 5.4% of gross domestic product for this year compared with 5.6% last year while the target was to lower the deficit to 2.8% by 2015.

Last month, Najib said there could be a review of the fuel subsidy should unrest in the Middle East continued although, so far, there were no plans to do so.

The price of RON 97 petrol was last raised on Feb 1, up from an initial 10 sen hike on Jan 4. In December, RON 95 petrol and diesel rose 5 sen per litre to RM1.90 and RM1.85 per litre respectively.

DESIDERATA: Every time the national oil corporation announced profits in recent years, the NET PROFITS would be around RM50 billion to RM60 billlion.

Each time the world prices go up, Petronas gets more revenues, hence rising profits. So logically our pump prices should go down, so that the increased profits can be ploughed back to benefit the people. If prices are arised at the pump, it leads to another ROUND OF INFLATION, LIKE IN RECENT YEARS, AND THE RAKYAT SUFFER ~~ yes, you and me, on whose behalf PETRONAS IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE NATION'S RESOURCES IN TRUST.

My LAMENT each time is: Where did our -- yes, the Rakyat's! -- money go?

They are owned by powerful politicians, who come from all parties, which is why they are seldom raided.Wednesday's raid was conducted at 12.30 am at Sangeet Bar. The police had quite a task at hand. "We were confident about finding the women, since we had specific input," said DCP (zone IX) KMM Prasanna, who led the team. "We had to demolish a wall made of concrete to reach the room where the women were kept."

The police have booked the management. They arrested Ramesh Shetty, Harish Shetty and Arjun, and are looking for Anu Shetty, who manages several such bars.

This year's International Women's Day comes at a difficult time. The brutal sexual assaults and harrassments described by women at Cairo's Tahrir Square last month were a visceral reminder of the ongoing subjugation suffered by so many women and girls around the world. Abuse and humiliation of women is an outlet for rage, addiction, dominance and control and, at times, a tactic of war. As my friend and writer Nicholas Kristof recently wrote in his forward to my memoirs: "The central moral challenge of the 19th century was slavery, and in the 20th century it was totalitarianism. In this century, the equivalent moral challenge is to address the oppression that is the lot of so many women and girls around the world."
We are all guilty of discounting difficult realities. At home in the United States, we often ignore the unacceptable daily facts facing women worldwide — the thousand women who die each day in pregnancy or childbirth, the tens of millions of girls who are kept out of school, and the millions more who are regular victims of violence and abuse. A few years ago, in my role as Global Ambassador for the health organization PSI (Population Services International), I visited a Kenyan brothel — it was a scuzzy flea-bag flophouse on a teeming street in a broken-up, tough part of town. Rooms were rented in 15-minute intervals to exploit prostituted women who often fought over clients, so desperate were they to survive.
I met a woman there name Shola, who was not as hardened as many of the other women I've met in brothels in 13 countries. Shola was a teenager — six-feet tall, rail thin and heartbreakingly gorgeous. She was one of seven children. Her mother died in an accident when she was 12; when she was 15 her father died of tuberculosis. Her father's relatives took their land and she was left alone, in charge of her siblings. She dropped out of school and tried to make do. At 15, she found out she was pregnant. At 18, she was pregnant again. This time, her boyfriend left her.
Two months pregnant, hungry, with no education, no skills and her health collapsing, Shola made a poor and disempowered woman's classic "choiceless choice." Every day at 9 a.m. she would take the bus to the crowded street where Imet her, and she would sell herself to strange men for sex while a neighbor watched her child. She earned a dollar on her back, two dollars on her hands and knees. Struggling to feed her growing toddler for whom her breast milk was not enough, she worked until her eighth month of pregnancy, and was having exploited sex again a month after delivering. She was innocent and fragile. And she was so ashamed of what she was doing.
2011-03-08-ashley.jpg
It's easy to distance ourselves from Shola's agonizing lot in life and to ignore her story on a day like today. But we must remember that her life is not so different from our own. She is a woman with incredible potential, dreams and hopes. My own mother was a high school senior when she found out she was pregnant. She took money out of her piggy bank to secretly hire a cab to visit our family doctor and confirm the pregnancy. When the doctor found out she was pregnant he wept; when my grandmother found out, she screamed. Like Shola, my mother had to drop out of school and was forced to move out of her family's home.
Fortunately for my mother, she was born here in the United States, And unlike Shola, my mother had grandparents who, despite the dramas, pitched in to help, and a boyfriend — my father — who adored and helped care for his girls.
Thanks to these important blessings, in spite of her own considerable hardships, my mother was able to raise a healthy, productive family. Shola doesn't have those same opportunities, and her situation puts her life and her family's at risk. Every day, she's exposed to lethal sexually transmitted diseases like HIV and further unintended pregnancies. And when she is not healthy and strong, her children can't be either. Children who lose their mothers at a young age are 10 times more likely to die prematurely than those who have not. For Shola and millions like her, the onus lies on us to help as much as we can to create opportunities for her and her family to live healthy and happy lives. If we want peace, we must.
As a start, I encourage all of you to honor and remember Shola today by educating yourselves and those around you. I read a perplexing poll that said that the majority of Americans believe that 25 percent of our federal budget goes to foreign aid. Actually, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) receives only one half of 1 percent of the federal budget for foreign aid. I hope you'll take some time to learn where that money goes and how USAID and all Americans are improving the health of millions of people in the developing world in HIV/AIDSmalariachildmaternalreproductive health, and tuberculosis. I also hope you'll focus on what more still needs to be done to help women like Shola. Even if all you can do is spread the word, it's something. Eli Weisel said to fail to transmit an experience is to betray it. In a world of difficult problems, that is a challenge that you can meet. readmore

DNA Boleh Di Palsukan!

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 08:51 AM PST

Ong Kian Ming : Implications of the 2 recent bye-elections in Malaysia

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 08:44 AM PST

Ong Kian Ming, a reseracher, analysed the implications of the 2 recent bye-elections in Malaysia as follows :

What are the implications of these two by-elections?

Firstly, the consistent trend of the shift in the Malay vote back to the BN since March 2008 has not changed significantly. The exceptions were the by-elections in Kuala Terengganu and Permatang Pauh. A nationwide swing of approximately 5% in the Malay support for the BN would not be surprising if a general election were to be called now.

Secondly, the swing in the Indian vote back to the BN, which is a more recent phenomenon, continues to pick up steam. Depending on the magnitude of the swing from 2004 to 2008, the expected swing in the Indian support for the BN could be anywhere from 20% to 50%.

Thirdly, the Chinese vote is swinging back to the BN, albeit in small numbers, especially in the semi-rural areas in which the DAP does not have a strong presence.

All these factors lead to the inexorable conclusion that if a general election were to be called now, the BN would probably regain its two-thirds majority, assuming that the status quo remains in Sabah and Sarawak.

But Najib cannot call a snap general election just yet because of uncertainty over the outcomes in Sarawak and because he needs more time to deliver on his economic and political promises, most notably through the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) to ensure that the benefits of these programmes become more tangible on the ground across the different states in Peninsular and East Malaysia.

PAS and to a lesser extent, PKR, are currently feeling the pressure to find means to stop the bleeding among the Malay electorate. PAS will inevitably feel the pressure to use Islamic issues, and a non-inclusive manner, to achieve this goal while PKR may find it necessary to dial back some of the rhetoric on replacing the NEP with a more needs based economic policy.

This will inevitably form part of the backdrop of the PAS party elections and I would not be surprised if certain PAS leaders were to push for a more aggressive and explicit policy to promote the 'Islamic agenda' within the context of Pakatan.

Pakatan best hope of regaining its lost political momentum lies not in Peninsular Malaysia but in Sarawak, where state elections are anticipated sometime in April or May this year. If somehow, the BN can be denied a two-thirds majority in Sarawak, some of the political pressure within Pakatan to use less inclusive means of campaigning would be lifted.

The focus of the opposition, in many ways, had already shifted to Sarawak prior to these two by-elections. BN's celebrations too were relatively short lived as the ruling coalition prepares for what will be a very intense and political significant battle in the land of the hornbill.

AXIS OF BIZARRE EVIL LIARS MAHATHIR AND THE JEWS, AN INDIAN BLOOD IS AN INDIAN BLOOD YOU CANNOT LIE ABOUT YOUR RACE YOU YOU ARE AN INDIAN MUSLIM LIKE ANY OF THE ALLAYHPICHAIS

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim was never given a chance to defend himself, contrary to what former premier Mahathir Mohamad wrote in his memoir.
"I followed Anwar to the 38th floor of Putra World Trade Centre for the Umno supreme council meet. He was never given a chance to answer the charges. Mahathir began the meeting by saying that he wanted Anwar sacked from the party," Machang MP Saifuddin Nasution told a press conference on Thursday.
Both Anwar and Saifuddin were Umno leaders at that time. Anwar was both Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, but he fell from grace after allegedly refusing to bail out one of Mahathir's sons from the Asian financial crisis.
Pundits who have followed the 1998 incident have also accused Mahathir of jealousy towards Anwar, who was proving to be more popular than him within their Umno party.
Hence, the trumped-up sodomy charges which were overthrown in 2004, just months after Mahathir finally stepped down. Even so, Anwar had to spend 6 years in jail although the sodomy 'victim' had already testified that he had not been sodomized at all and had been coerced into making the false accusations.
It was then that the Malaysian judiciary finally lost its reputation for integrity. The court assembled by Mahathir was condemned worldwide and labelled a kangaroo trial because the judge refused to accept or consider any evidence that favoured Anwar.
A legacy of spite and hate
On Thursday, Saifuddin recounted how Mahathir had brushed aside any opposition from the other Umno supreme council members. In the end, his iron will won and none of them dared to oppose him.
"In his book, Mahathir also said that former IGP Hanif Omar had warned him of Anwar's wrongdoings as far back as in the early 1990s," said Saifuddin.
"But everyone who is slated for a high government post must go through a personality clearance, administered by Bukit Aman. If Hanif had evidence against Anwar then, how could Anwar have managed to be a minister, the education minister and then the deputy prime minister?"
Mahathir launched his book "A Doctor in the House" earlier this week. He had harsh words for all of his 'enemies' including Singapore's minister mentor Lee Kuan Yew, whom he accused of wanting to become Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's much-awaited book entitled "A Doctor in the House: The Memoirs of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad" has caused a sensation since it was launched as he has openly admitted that he has Indian blood and boldly revealed the so-called "inside stories" of the sex scandal.
We can find many memoirs of politicians in bookstores but only those which have exposed secrets and caused hot debates are sold like hot cakes. Otherwise, they might end up as embellishments on the shelves.
Mahathir is a politician with a strong personality. He ruled authoritatively during his term of office and it triggered many controversies. After holding political power for a few decades, he had also made many enemies. The Operasi Lalang, judicial and constituency crises, as well as other front-page stories were related to him.
He had been struggling with Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew for a few decades and contracted enmity with a few former deputy prime ministers, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in particular. These elements are more than enough to attract the public to read his book.
The book is 809 pages long and about 20 pages of them are detailed description of the sex scandal involving his political opponent Anwar, showing us how much he hates Anwar. As some of the content might trigger a defamation controversy, it is believed that Anwar will soon make a counter attack and start another endless lawsuit. This has enhanced its readability and appeal. As for whether the readers would choose to wholly believe it, it depends on their own stand and judgment.
Objectively speaking, as the front-line participants and direct witnesses, if politicians are faithful to history, their memoirs will undoubtedly provide first-hand information to historical studies. They will have a very precious historical value. However, if their memoirs are written based on their personal opinions, then they will be inevitably subjective. As readers, if there is no related historical data for references, it is better not to wholly believe them.
A critic criticised a politician's memoirs: "His memoirs has proven two points. Firstly, he has a wealth of imagination and secondly, he has a bad memory. This has enabled him to achieve such a goal: He did all right in the past." This can actually be used to describe many memoirs in the market.
It reminded me of Wei Xiaobao, the main character of novel "The Deer and the Caldron" written by Jin Yong. One of Wei's greatest skills is to lie without flaw. It is not because he is good in lying. Instead, it is because he is so good in telling the truth. Most of the time, he first tells the truth until everyone believes him and adds only a lie to his story at the most critical moment when the listeners have lost vigilance.
Isn't detecting the lie among the truths told in the memoirs of politicians the most challenging task?
The JEWS ARE LIARS !! THE JEWS are IDIOTS !! They created a Religion which plagues the world today !! For those who cannot get a copy of the Torah, Talmud, the Mishnah or the Kaballah, then download the PDF version !!
The Jews created a Myth about Adam and Eve ! Adam and Eve is Scientifically either an Ape, or a Caveman !! Why did Abraham have to create a Monotheistic God? He was a pendatang from Iran !! Did Canaan not have enough Gods already? MY GOD IS BETTER THAN YOUR GOD? Sure !! The 6,000 GODS of all sorts of religions in the Middle East at that time was "NO MATCH" for the God of Abraham !! ABRAHAM was a HORRIBLE JEW !! He came up with Laws which had the most cruel punishments and specific instructions for the killing of their neighbours !! The famous stories taught in Jewish schools are simple ABHORRENT !!! Marching around a city, and then completely slaying their inhabitants be they Men, Women or Children is NOTHING to be proud of !! Not to mention the countless rapes, and so on !!
Where is this? The story of Joshua teaches GENOCIDE !!! The Jews should BURN !! And so should ANYONE else teaching their doctrine should also be condemned !!!
"And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword. Joshua 6:21
What child should ever be taught to hate?? What child should ever be taught to kill? What child should ever be taught to maim, or take slaves? The Horrible Jews also kept slaves. Not only was it permissable, it was enshrined in their (un) Holy Book !!

"There is not one verse in the "Holy Scriptures" inhibiting slavery, but many regulating it. It is not then, we conclude, immoral."
Rev. Alexander Campbell

"The right of holding slaves is clearly established in the Holy Scriptures, both by precept and example."
Rev. R. Furman, D.D., Baptist, of South Carolina

Biblical passages recognized, controlled, and regulated the practice.

The Bible and Rabbinic Teachings permitted owners to beat their slaves severely, even to the point of killing them. However, as long as the slave lingered longer than 24 hours before dying of the abuse, the owner was not regarded as having committed a crime, because — after all — the slave was his property.

"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished.  If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. " (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you.  You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land.  You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance.  You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)
Paul had every opportunity to write in one of his Epistles that human slavery — the owning of one person as a piece of property by another — is profoundly evil. His letter to Philemon would have been an ideal opportunity to vilify slavery.
But Paul of Tarsus wrote not one word of criticism. Instead, he wrote the following:

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear.  Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. " (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Jesus (Yeshua Bar Yehosef), himself a Jew, could have condemned the practice. He might have done so. He could have done so.
And he had every opportunity to do so BUT, there is no record of Jesus having EVER said anything negative about the institution.
Moses himself was no Angel either !! He advocated and watched over the murderous Genocide of 4,000 fellow Jewish who were friends, brothers, sisters,  parents, and even their own children !!

Moses asked, and the Levites stood beside him. He then ordered them to "kill your brother, friend, and neighbor." (Exodus Chapter 32 verse 27)

He then announced that this was the day of the institution of the Levitical priesthood because by killing their brothers, friends, and neighbors,
"you have brought a blessing this day upon yourselves." (Exodus Chapter 32 verse 29)
"Still, the Torah calls Moses "the humblest man." Could a humble man preside over genocide? The answer is a definite YES. Moses' humility was his entire submission to divine will. A tremendous erosion of the concept took place afterward: Jewish humility came to mean submission to people, even down to enemies and oppressors. Whatever his own views, Moses entirely accepted God's definition of morality. Divine decrees set the standard of morality, and anything God told him to do was moral by definition. Even genocide was moral when perpetrated on divine orders.
Modern Jews should not shrink from the explicit commandment to cleanse the land God gave us of its hostile inhabitants."

taken from:

http://samsonblinded.org/blog/genocide-by-the-humble.htm

And then, there's the selling of their own Jewish Daughters !!

"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are.  If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again.  But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her.  " (Exodus 21:7 NLT)

Yes, UMNO is correct to believe that the Jews are indeed Barbaric !! And their Religion is even more shocking !!
I'll end this with a quote by Prof Dr. Richard Dawkins:

"The God of the Jews is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

If the Jewish God is this way, what more the mere mortals?
Shalom
UMNO, I have successfully ATTACKED THE JEWS when can I get my Tun-ship?

Famous Quote: "I have to bring you some greetings, greetings from a man, what is his name, what is his name — just a minute it was someone with a tan — Barack Obama…."This one may well be the 'joker' in the pack and for some strange reason, the Italians can't get enough of him, voting the bumbling billionaire back into power time and again. When he is not busy rubbing the Arab world the wrong way, he seems to spend his time choosing young attractive women for his cabinet. His propensity to put his foot in his mouth is often overshadowed by media reports of his numerous affairs. As he outs it: "I am often faithful". From accusing Communists of "eating children" to complimenting US president Barack Obama on his "sun tan", Berlusconi has done it all. He was recently hit on the face with a statuette. It remains unclear if the deranged attacker also had a weird sense of humour.
Mahmoud AhmadinejadCountry: Iran
Famous Quote: "Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury."
Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, it's safe to say, is not very fond of the West or Israel. His trademark fiery speeches, usually targeted at Israel, give headline writers more masala than a Bollywood film. In fact, much to the chagrin of the West, President Ahmadinejad refuses to acknowledge the Holocaust. "They have invented a myth that Jews were massacred," he claims. Under his leadership, Iran seems to have discovered a new-found love for nuclear power. These days he's busy battling dissidents on the streets and curbing Internet freedom.
Hugo ChávezCountry: Venezuela
Famous Quote: "Capitalism leads us straight to hell."Chavez came into the spotlight after trying to grab hold of the then President during a coup attempt. That alone should make him an honorary Pakistani. But luck was on his side and he was pardoned and released after two years in jail. A flamboyant speaker, he is a severe critic of neoliberalism and globalization. Uncle Sam remains his favourite whipping boy. He once said, "I hereby accuse the North American empire of being the biggest menace to our planet." He frequently accuses the US of plotting an attack on Venezuela and once referred to President Barack Obama as an "ignoramus" and to Bush as "the devil". His national policy seems to revolve around the mantra: If it moves, nationalize it. Once, Spanish King Juan Carlos told him to "shut up". Unfortunately, he didn't.
Kim Jong-ilCountry: North Korea
Famous Quote: "Great ideology creates great times."He is the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, but there's nothing democratic about him. Said to lead a recluse's life, Kim Jong-il has to often prove (to the West) he is not ill by making public appearances wearing a dull safari suit. It seems to be the only item of clothing he has. He is reputedly deified in North Korea and a Wikipedia article claims that "many North Koreans believe he has the magical ability to control the weather" based on his mood. When Kim is not busy fighting famine, he keeps busy by bugging Uncle Sam and his friends by testing nuclear weapons.

DBKL - where thieves and cheats dwell!

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 08:39 AM PST

A few days ago, I found a parking lot about 40 meters from Maybank Desa Pandan. I walked to the parking meter for a ticket but 3 peoples were ahead of me. I waited for about a minute before getting mine.

While walking back to the car, a DBKL enforcement officer has already placed a summon ticket on the windscreen. He was still there. I tried to argue but he said: "Dah lama dah kereta ni kat sini!"

So, that is how DBKL makes easy money. In less than 2 minutes, I was made to pay RM100. I have heard of similar cases before where DBKL enforcement officers prey on 'just-parked' vehicles to issue summon.

Where is their discretion? Did DBKL train them to be such nuisance? No wonder some of our rakyat hate DBKL and other local councils. Their enforcement personnel are more like a bunch of robots that enjoy issuing summon tickets. I think they are into a competition - whoever issues most tickets will get rewarded!

Arrghhhh!!! Its ok, I will pay mine. However, I am thinking of making a report to the MACC about some thieves and cheats at DBKL, some officers who are on the take and preying on customers lacking in adequate knowledge about local councils.

I am calling on readers who got evidence about DBKL officers' wrongdoings to e-mail me at jailani_arena@yahoo.com

In The Eyes Of The World

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 07:44 AM PST

There is a very fine line between staying credible and becoming ridiculous. But our favourite news agency has tottered over the edge after spinning itself dizzy.

It began with reporting Mahathir's "woes" as described in his delusional autobiography.

Apparently, Mahathir finds himself nursing a grudge against Anwar for making him look bad with his internationally publicised sodomy charges.

Now, this is rich, considering Anwar got himself imprisoned for a few years, had his reputation smeared, his eye bruised and bloodied, and his career in tatters.

The charges? The act of sodomy between two consenting adult males? How could that be anything but a personal matter??

Is it not convenient that those charges came at a critical moment when Mahathir found himself potentially ousted from office by a then strong contender?

With these charges being of such a private nature, could there really be impartial, unbiased rulings with untampered evidence?

The very act of imprisoning Anwar is criminal. And yet, they talk about joining the International Criminal Court.

Mongolian models have been blown up with C4 explosives and no one charged for the crime but two commandos with no clear motives - how could it even begin to be credible?

We have a monstrous record for deaths in custody. Citizens are dying in the brutal hands of the police, the very people supposed to be protecting them. It is truly shocking.

With our human rights record: abusing participants of street protests, tear-gassing them, spraying them with chemical laced water and beating them among other things, how could we as a nation be seen by the world as anything but overrun by despots?

This news agency either has a grim sense of humour or a severe lack of comprehension.

Christians Say Fed Up With Najib Administration - By Debra Chong.

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 04:57 AM PST

Christians in Malaysia say they are angry and fed up with the Najib government for what they see as a systematic move to deny their religious rights enshrined in the country's highest law.

Spurred by the Home Ministry's latest seizure of 30,000 Malay Bibles that cost US$26,000 (RM78,000) from Kuching port, the churches rallied together and issued a stinging rebuke today against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

They demanded he "prove their (the government) sincerity and integrity in dealing with the Malaysian Christian community on this and all other issues which we have been raising with them since the formation of the Christian Federation of Malaysia in 1985".

"The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) is greatly disillusioned, fed-up and angered by the repeated detention of Bibles written in our national language, Bahasa Malaysia. It is an affront to them that they are being deprived of their sacred scriptures. Many are wondering why their scriptures are considered a threat to national security. All these actions in relation to the detention of the Bibles continue to hurt the Malaysian Christian community," it said in a statement today signed by its chairman, Bishop Ng Moon Hing.

They demanded the government immediately release all Bibles detained.

The CFM is the umbrella body that represents over 90 per cent of churches in the country.

Malaysian Christians make up close to 10 per cent of the 28 million population; with the biggest numbers based in Sarawak and Sabah, where the main language used by the Bumiputeras in churches is Bahasa Malaysia.

The CFM noted that the federal government has been thwarting all attempts to import Malay Bibles from outside Malaysia since March 2009, "despite repeated appeals which resulted in the prime minister making a decision to release the Alkitab held in Port Klang in December 2009 which was reported to CFM leaders by several Cabinet ministers and their aides. This is notwithstanding that the government in its attempt to justify its position against the use of the word 'Allah' in the Alkitab, the government had given the assurance that the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia will be freely available, at least in Sabah and Sarawak," it said.

The Catholic Church had won a landmark judgment on December 31, 2009 that gives it the right to publish the word, but has effectively been barred from doing so pending the government's appeal.

The group pointed to two separate shipments totalling 15,000 copies that had been seized by Home Ministry officials and left to languish for over a year at Kuching port and Port Klang in Selangor.

CFM said officials at Port Klang have steadfastly refused to release the 5,000 copies imported by the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM).

"In absolute disregard of this decision, the 5,000 copies of the Alkitab remain detained," CFM said.

It added that there were other shipments of Bibles and other Christian material before March 2009 that were confiscated by ministry officials that have yet to be returned to their owners.

One such case involves Sarawakian Christian Jill Ireland Lawrence Bill, whose personal collection of Christian CDs — bought on a trip to Indonesia — were seized by Malaysian Customs officials at the airport here in May 2008 allegedly for being a threat to national security.

Jill filed to sue the Home Ministry at the High Court here but her case has also been languishing in the courts.

Her lawyer, Annou Xavier, told reporters in Putrajaya that the case was fixed to be mentioned today, but no hearing date was given.

CFM questioned if the government was powerless to act against these "little Napoleons" who substitute their own interests and agenda in place of the prime minister's directives.

"We would ask how the government's transformation programme can be successfully implemented if civil servants can blatantly refuse to obey the prime minister's order?"

Ng told The Malaysian Insider today that he had personally raised the hold-up of the Bibles with the prime minister during a Christmas open house last year.

"He said he was surprised and told me 'I need to go back and check but I'll look into it'," Ng said, relating his conversation with Najib.

He added that the PM was likely told that the Kuching shipment has been released without knowing anything about the Port Klang shipment.

The Malaysian Insider understands that the first consignment of 10,000 copies seized at Kuching port was released on Christmas last year after the prime minister stepped in.

Ng said the churches would continue to apply pressure on the Najib administration.

"We will not stop appealing. If we give up, it means the end of our religion," the head of Malaysia's Anglican church said.

Celebrating women Russian-style —”Putin Party,” honors International Women’s Day with strippers

Celebrating women Russian-style — with strippers
"Putin Party," honors International Women's Day with strippers.
MOSCOW, Russia — What do you get when you mix a dozen strippers, a soundtrack of throbbing house music and chants of "only Putin, only sex!"? The ultimate celebration of International Women's Day, Russian-style.
The March 8 holiday is one of Russia's most celebrated. Yet nearly 100 years after it was first marked in Russia, it now works best to illustrate the sorry state of women's rights in a country where chauvinism is largely admired, sexual harassment widely tolerated and domestic violence a subject that is all but taboo.
On Sunday night, hundreds of Muscovites packed a club called Rai (Paradise), to attend an International Women's Day event called Putin Party. The honoree was in theory selected by a poll of female club employees asked to choose the sexiest man from a list of international celebrities. The idea was intended to provoke scandal: The use of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's name made the night the talk of the town. His spokesman came out to meekly denounce the event when it was first announced last week.
That the party went on anyway led many to think Putin wasn't all that upset (what Putin wants, Putin gets). The stunt worked, and the club — it's faux stone walls and gaudy trellises embellished with posters praising Putin — was packed to the brim until the wee hours of Monday morning.
"[Putin] is favoring when his name is used for the promotion of a healthy way of living, for the promotion of aid to children, for promoting whatever is useful," Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesman, told Russia Today ahead of the event. "But certainly using his name for promoting a party in a private club, in my opinion, is improper."
Improper was one word for the party. Scantily clad and topless women danced upon desks mimicking the prime minister's. Red speech bubbles reading "I want the prime minister" and "Vova, I'm with you!" were passed around — one stripper held one up to her crotch before continuing to sway and thrust. Giggling young women took turns sticking their heads into a cardboard cutout of a woman in a red dress riding backseat to manly Putin on a motorbike.
At two in the morning, the lasers cut out and the overhead lights dimmed. The droning beat of soulless house music suddenly went quiet and a male voice boomed over the stereo system: "Only Rai, only Putin, only sex!" Cue the floor show: five pants-less women standing in front of a sign reading "Putin Party: Without Putin, We're F–ked," waving huge red flags as the club's DJ debuted a new song that sampled Putin's infamous singing of Blueberry Hill last year.
Rai is not a strip club. Rather, it's an average Moscow disco whose star peaked a couple of years ago, replaced by swankier sites with less gaudy design. Yet those, too, almost invariably feature half-naked dancers galore (sometimes caged, sometimes dangling from ceilings), despite the fact that half the clientele is women.
"What are the women supposed to do here?" one of my Western companions asked me. Judging by the crowd, the answer would seem to be: stare at the strippers and the pout your lips.
The Soviet Union and its subsequent fall have had a twisted effect on gender roles in Russia. During communist times, men and women were declared equal — according to socialist ideology, both were expected to contribute in the workplace and at home. In reality, Soviet women carried what has been dubbed a "double burden" — required to work and manage the home, while men were never really expected to live up to both sides of the bargain.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, many women embraced an uber-femininity, be it in style of dress or in their expectations of relations between the sexes (man buys things; woman consumes things)
Rarely is that more clear than in the lead-up to International Women's Day. A host of polls are always released. This year, the Levada Center asked 1,600 men what they valued most in women. The overwhelming winner was thrift (56 percent), followed by good looks (39 percent), thoughtfulness (38 percent) and fidelity (37 percent). At the bottom of the list were: independence (6 percent), temperament (7 percent) and the ability to deal with misfortune (9 percent). For the record, only 31 percent thought a woman's intellect was important.
The poll also asked what characteristics most women exhibited: beauty and thoughtfulness (both 47 percent) led the pack; logic (7 percent) and a creative mind (8 percent) trailed near the bottom.

Postal Vote Engineering In Progress. It's Time To Do Another Bersih Walk...

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 03:58 AM PST

Now!! Before It Is Too Late

Wow! BN retained Moneymau and Kerdau seats with bigger majority. It doesn't matter how they won it. They started with that strategy during Manek Urai by-election. Being the first, there was a miscalculation and they lost by a mere 65 votes. After that, it has been BN all the way except for Sibu.
Now the score stands at 8 a piece. That is exactly what Umno wants people to perceive. The ministers and their mainstream media start blaring away telling the people that people are abandoning Pakatan for BN hoping that this message would help rope in more fence-sitters across this land.
They may succeed in some way as they are still many gullible idiots or fortune seeking bastards around waiting for durian to drop so that they prostitute away their vote for some crumbs to be thrown at them.
Never mind if this regime is corrupted. Never mind if this regime imposed all kind of extra taxes, tolls, gst, duties or levies on top of the income tax that we are duty-bounded to pay.
But this is not the reason I am doing this blog post today.
I know I have been complacent. But that doesn't means that I haven't been following what that has been transpiring in the political arena. And be rest assured, this blog is not going to be complacent anymore especially with the 13th general election looming near.
There are many signs indicating that the next general election is going to happen sometime this year. Forget about the PM's and DPM's roadshow timetable which one of them mentioned that they hope to complete it by September. Sarawak's state election cannot wait till September. Given the vast advantage of their strength in machinery over Pakatan's, it is only logical for them to time the general election to coincide with Sarawak's state election.
One of the most worrying sign that caught my attention is the engineering of postal votes. There have been recent reports on the sudden surge in postal votes in Perak, Kedah and Kelantan. Why the sudden big surge? Can Election Commission comes clean on this? Wives and children of army and police personnel included as postal voters and they are carrying normal identity card?

First, they engineered the constituencies to their master's advantage. Then they engineered the population. And now, they engineered the postal votes so that it is enough to go around this time unlike Tsunami 2008.
Poor Shahrizat!
Poor Samy!

Dr M Double Standard in Practically the Same Breath

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 01:43 AM PST

Now I know that racism and hypocrisy run in UMNOputras' blood, and this fellow is a king of sandiwara, but come on – this is just blatant.

On a tip from wits0, via Malaysia Chronicle, first he says:

I talked about this in response to certain people who claim that the Malays are as much immigrants as the Chinese and Indians.

And straight away after he says:

Some Malays are obviously descended from people who came to the Malay Peninsular from the Indonesian islands, India and the Arabian Peninsular.

Having come here they were assimilated after they identified themselves completely with the Malays by adopting the Malay language, their customs and traditions and by being Muslims.

This is a common phenomenon. In America, Australia, Latin America, the later immigrants accepted the languages of their adopted country as their mother tongue as well as the culture.

After doing this they no longer think of themselves as being of their original country. They are Americans, Australians and Argentinians period. We don't hear them claiming to be German Americans, Portuguese Australians or Italian Argentinians, even though they or their ancestors came from these countries.

Malays are Malays and it is mischievous to suggest that when asked about their race they would say they are Bugis or Javanese. It is only if they are asked where their ancestors came from that they would say Celebes or Java. Otherwise they are just Malays.

If you ask me I would reply that I am a Malay. I would not say I am a Malay or Malaysian of ethnic Indian origin. My mother tongue and home language is Malay, my culture and tradition is Malay and I am a Muslim. The constitution defines a Malay as a person who habitually speaks Malay, practices Malay custom and tradition and is a Muslim.

Hello? Then why are not the Chinese and Indians who have been here for generations, born and bred, learning and speaking Malay from Primary school or even earlier. Why are they not similarly considered local Malaysians – bumiputera even?

As even he himself states:

The constitution defines a Malay as a person who habitually speaks Malay, practices Malay custom and tradition and is a Muslim.

Being Malay has nothing to do with genetics!

So it doesn't matter who one's forefathers were.

And to close with his own words one more time:

We have read the fable of the thief who shouted "thief"! The racists are the same. They shout racist at others to distract from their own racism.

Physician, self, medicate.

You know where the Chinese are already considered 'bumiputera'?

African Bumiputra

Uh huh, that's right. Apartheid, where for art thou? (Rhetorical question, we all know exactly where.)

Memoir Dr Mahathir tidak lengkap

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 03:40 AM PST

MP KEADILAN Keluar Parti Untuk Bayar Hutang RM1.4 Juta

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 02:32 AM PST

"Selepas membuat kajian, ia memang sah.

A writer's woes...

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 05:54 AM PST

And this is often the case when he's not even born on wedNURSEdae!:(

Some employers think since writers are generally gifted by God anyway with their flair for writing, they need not be paid a decent sum for their work."It's fun for them anyway, so a token will do!"

I was once asked to edit a technology magazine, with NO allowance even for the hard work. He could go canvass for advertisements as revenue source. I guess the idiots offering me the employment think writers live on air, sunshine and rainwater alone. These self same idiots would happily splash a labourer's monthly wage of RM1,500 on a single night's outing at the bar or karaoke joint.Yes, the GRO's needs and the a-raba-raba are worth more than the blighter-writer's words.

An established publisher said he would be paying the princely sum of RM200 for some five articles he laboured and gave birth to. Between the promise to pay and the sunrising from the west, I guess the chances and probability of the publisher's keeping his word and the sun rising from the direction are about even. So four months had passed. Miracles sometimes steal can happen. So the blardy writer waits:(
A freelance writer suffers a worse fate.
The capitalistic employers literally think "fre" in freelancemeans they need NOT be paid. And that "alnce" is short for "lan si" (action!)assuming the writer often naturally holds this train of being showy and arrogant since he has a command of words beyond the ordinary man, including the fat-cat boss.

Ah, the above is writ knottily out of personal experience.
You wanna names? Bye Desi lah tehtarik and kambing at Lingam's. Kambing?

PAS Sudah Hilang Sokongan Melayu Semenjak Sebelum 2008 lagi

Posted: 09 Mar 2011 08:57 PM PST

Sekurang-kurangnya:

Husam - Isu Royalti

Mahfuz - Saman Ekor

Syed Azman - Hal Ehwal Antarabangsa

Mujahid - Dewan Penyokong PAS

1.0 BLoggers

2.0 DAP

3.0 Pakatan Rakyat (siap nak keluarkan Garispanduan Tahaluf Siyasi lagi)

WHOSE CREDIBILITY IS AT STAKE? SHANNON TEOH AND CLARA CHOOI THE PROSTITUTES WORKING FOR MASTER PIMP MAHATIR

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's latest claims of sexual misconduct by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his memoirs has forced Pakatan Rakyat (PR) into a "perception war" over the latter's credibility as prime minister-in-waiting
PR leaders said they have their work cut out to negate the former prime minister's accusations in his autobiography that hit bookshelves this week

Still licking its wounds from the twin defeats in Merlimau and Kerdau on Sunday by increased majorities, PR now has to reckon with the influential former prime minister's efforts to "hammer in another nail in the coffin" of the opposition pact.

"That's the reason he is doing this, just to add to all the other accusations against Anwar, trying to hammer another nail in the coffin," said PAS political bureau member Khalid Samad.

"Dr Mahathir knows that Anwar is the glue in PR. By attacking Anwar and destroying him, it is as good as destroying PR," DAP Youth chief Anthony Loke said.
Anwar is deep in the middle of a second sodomy trial while the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) has dismissed the PKR de facto leader as irrelevant after PR's dismal performance in the twin by-elections.
"Dr Mahathir is very influential and what he says is very influential. We have witnessed how he attacked his predecessor, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and the kind of repercussions it had for Barisan Nasional .
"His stories today will create confusion among the people and paint a negative image of Anwar so soon, we are in for a perception war," said Rasah MP Loke.related article  Sexual fantasia Mahatir's Unfinished Business What Ummi want from Mahatir Casual sex between casual friends

"He is trying to damage Anwar's credibility as an Islamic leader with charges of sexual misconduct. It is quite obvious that these are sensitive issues for Malays," Khalid added.
Both Loke and Shah Alam MP Khalid said that despite the lack of proof, many will still swallow Dr Mahathir's words whole.
"As it is coming from him, it will definitely create a perception, whether it is true or not. Perception matters very much in politics," Loke said.
"Some will think, because Dr M said it, it must be true," Khalid said of the allegations made in the book entitled, "A Doctor in the House: The Memoirs of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad."
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said the claims by Dr Mahathir, PM from 1981 to 2003, would have an effect on fence sitters who were still undecided on whether Anwar had committed such acts.
Loke said PR would now have to go all-out to clear Anwar's name, particularly with urbanites who were likely to read Dr Mahathir's memoirs.
"We must go on the offensive. We need to explain. We need to engage more with the public," he said.related article
