Mahathir's pathetic attempt to warp Malaysian history
It would appear that Dr.Mahathir's memoirs have been published with two main objectives in mind: (i) To try to clean up the blemishes on his record, for example, unleashing Operation Lalang in 1987 and the assault on the judiciary in 1988; (ii) To try to stop at all costs, his nemesis, Anwar Ibrahim's attempt to become the next Prime Minister.
His memoirs reveal that he is not one who respects the truthfulness of historical accounts. Wasn't it Oscar Wilde who said "Any fool can make history, but it takes a genius to write it"?
"History consists of a series of accumulated imaginative inventions." (Voltaire)
SUARAM/K.Das' "The White Paper on the October Affair and the Why? Papers" (1989) and my own "445 Days under the ISA" (1989) have set the record straight regarding Operation Lalang. Mahathir's silly effort to pin the blame on the police and the former IGP's gauche efforts to take credit for it belong to Malaysia's growing stock of political fairy tales.
Remember "May day for Justice"?
Regarding Dr Mahathir's assault on the Malaysian judiciary in 1988 when the Lord President was sacked and several Supreme Court judges suspended, he makes the vacuous claim it was all because the King had been annoyed at Tun Salleh Abas' complaints about noisy building works near his house…
Only fools and buffoons would fall for such a caricature of history. The Malaysian judiciary has still not recovered from that rude assault by Dr Mahathir in 1988 which affronted judicial circles all over the world. Writing the Foreword to Tun Salleh Abas & K.Das' "May Day for Justice" (1989), the Hon Justice Michael Kirby, CMG Commissioner of the International Commission of Jurists said of the incident:
"Singled out for particular mention was the concern of the International Commission of Jurists about the campaign of attacks on the judiciary by the Prime Minister of Malaysia; the inducement made to the Lord President to resign his office quietly; the apparently biased constitution of the tribunal set up to enquire into his removal; the inclusion in the tribunal, as its chairman, of a judge who succeeded to the Lord President's office; the unprecedented action of that judge in securing the removal and suspension of Supreme Court judges who provided a stay to allow the constitutionality of the tribunal to be tested in the Malaysian Supreme Court, and the 'unpersuasive' report of the tribunal following which the Lord President was removed."
The assault on the Malaysian judiciary in 1988 was one of Dr Mahathir's crudest attempts to cling to power when he was challenged by Tengku Razaleigh and showed that he does not respect, or does not understand the meaning of 'the rule of law'. And he cannot run away from that responsibility nor can he erase that history. This dark episode in Malaysian modern history has been meticulously recorded by Tun Salleh Abas and K. Das in "May Day for Justice" published in 1989 by Magnus Books. The Tunku wrote in the Preface to "May Day for Justice":
"Episode after episode in the book shows the spiritual corruption, the cynicism, the moral turpitude, the viciousness and the horrible ruthlessness which attended the exercise of falsely accusing him, hastily putting him before a Tribunal of questionable character and quickly removing him from office.
"I do not know how any honourable government can stay in office after this book has been published. It constitutes a denunciation which cannot be answered without confessing to the most dishonourable conduct in public life."
All of this happened under Mahathir's watch and the system of justice in this country has still not fully recovered from the crude assault. If not for that, he would not be so smug about casting libellous claims about his political opponent's moral character. Sure, he need not tremble in fear of defamation suits by Anwar in the present system, but in the event of a new just government in Putrajaya and the rug is lifted from the dirt in his term in office, we will put right our history…
Coffee Table Amusement
It is a sign of the times that Mahathir's memoirs should be released at a time when the government is making history compulsory for all Malaysian students:
"History is now strictly organized, powerfully disciplined, but it possesses only a modest educational value and even less conscious social purpose." (J. H. Plumb)
In an age when information is so abundant and accessible, I have often said that history text books should not be prescribed for secondary school kids. They should be encouraged to read widely in order to encourage critical thinking. That being the case,  Mahathir's memoirs can best be relegated to the function of coffee table amusement. As the visionary William Blake has put it:
"A truth that's told with bad intent,
Beats all the lies you can invent."

Mahathir 'paranoid' dengan Anwar

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:58 AM PST

S. Augustine Paul a/l Sinnappen, currently Federal Court judge, subjected himself to be a political whore in 1998. While a Kuala Lumpur high court judge, he participated in the political conspiracy orchestrated by the then prime minister Mahathir Mohamad to bring down the then deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim. He put through a show trial of Anwar and subsequently convicted the latter of sodomy and corruption.
The conviction was clearly riddled with holes. Augustine Paul allowed the prosecution had to change the date of the alleged offence several times after Anwar's lawyers demonstrated conclusively that he could not have been at the place at the date nominated. So crude was the frame-up that in one case the building in which the offence was alleged to have occurred, had not even been constructed.
In the end, Augustine Paul took the extraordinary step of allowing the prosecution to nominate 7.45 p.m. somewhere between January and March 1993. Even though the defence produced documents to account for Anwar's movements for every day over that period, Augustine Paul ignored the evidence and found Anwar guilty.
By convicting Anwar, Augustine Paul solely relied on the framed up allegations of the witness, Azizan Abu Bakar, who was shown by the defence team to beunreliable.
Augustine Paul was infamously called the "irrelevant judge" for repeatedly refusing submissions of evidence by Anwar's defence team and ruled them 'irrelevant'.
Obviously a judicial officer without anyproper talent noteworthy, he had been a sessions court judge, until one week before Anwar's sodomy trial. He was promoted promptly to be a high court judge and took on the case. After serving his part in the political conspiracy, he was summarily promoted to be a judge of Court of Appeal on 1 August 2003, and then on to be a judge of Federal Court, the apex court in Malaysia, on 17 June 2005.
poor Anwar , he had some real scumbags as 'friends' – Ezam & Anuar Shaari.
Disgusting opportunists as well as traitors.
Ezam & Anuar Shari conspired with Rosmah mansor NAJIB TUN Razak
THE EPISODE SODOMY 11 During the course of Anwar's impending trial, Malaysians will be told of the link Saiful has with Mumtaz Jaafar. Malaysians will also be told who Mumtaz Jaafar is and what her 'special' links with Rosmah are.
Further to that, Malaysians will be told about the relationship between Najib's Special Officer, Khairul Anas, and Saiful —

Solicitor-General II Mohamed Yusof Zainal Abidin, who led the prosecution team, replied that it was the discretion of the Attorney-General, as the prosecutor, to charge any person under any section.

Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trialthe defence raised discrepancies over the charges framed and accuser Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan's testimony  Remember that infamous judge from Sodomy 1 ? The lawyers want the law to be applied in this trial? Don't the lawyers know what happen in sodomy 1 ? And what do you think will happen in sodomy 2 ? Correct Anwar will go to jail! All the lawyers can do is prolong the case.If that Parian Augustine Paul was still alive and the judge for the case, he would say it is irrelevant whether there is consent or not. In buggery , consent or not , it is still buggery the learned Parian judge would declare. As long as Anwar does it , it does not matter who he sticks it to whether it is Saiful or Azizan. The time or the place is all irrelevant as far as the case of sodomy is concerned. Anwar did it before. Anwar did it again. Anwar will do it again, and again and again till he can't get it up. Then the saga ends. Stupid lawyers and judges are sodomising the courts of justice in this country.

RETRACE THE STEPS THAT LED TO THIS POLICE REPORT.
AT 2.30PM ON WEDNESDAY, 25 JUNE 2008, SAIFUL MET SENIOR ASSISTANT
COMMISSIONER (SAC) II MOHD RODWAN MOHD YUSOF IN ROOM 619 OF THE CONCORDE
HOTEL IN KUALA LUMPUR. PRIOR TO THIS SECRET MEETING, RODWAN AND SAIFUL SPOKE
ON THE PHONE AT LEAST EIGHT (8) TIMES.
IN FACT, THEY CAN'T REALLY REMEMBER HOW MANY PHONE CALLS IT WAS. THEY SAY IT
WAS AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES ALTHOUGH IT COULD HAVE BEEN MAYBE TEN OR TWELVE
TIMES. BUT WHO'S COUNTING ANYWAY? EIGHT, TEN OR TWELVE DOESN'T REALLY
MATTER. THE CRUX OF THE MATTER IS: THEY SPOKE OVER THE PHONE MANY TIMES
PRIOR TO MEETING UP IN ROOM 619 OF THE CONCORDE HOTEL — A 'SECRET' MEETING
THAT CAN'T BE VERY SECRET IF MALAYSIA TODAY KNOWS ABOUT IT.
WE MUST REMEMBER ONE THING. RODWAN IS THE SAME POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS
INVOLVED IN FABRICATING THE 1998 SODOMY ALLEGATION AGAINST ANWAR. RODWAN WAS
IMPLICATED AS THE MAN WHO ILLEGALLY TOOK ANWAR'S SPECIMENS, WHICH
SUBSEQUENTLY MYSTERIOUSLY REAPPEARED AS 'STAINS' ON A MATTRESS. IT WAS SO
APPARENT THE MATTRESS WAS PLANTED AS EVIDENCE THE JUDGE SUBSEQUENTLY
REJECTED THE MATTRESS AS EVIDENCE AND ORDERED THAT ALL REFERENCES OF IT BE
EXPUNGED FROM THE COURT RECORDS.
THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK. WHEN THEY REALISED THAT THE MATTRESS WAS HURTING MORE
THAN HELPING THEIR CASE, THEY THREW THE MATTRESS OUT OF THE COURT AND
DELETED ALL RECORDS OF IT EVER APPEARING IN COURT. AND, ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE
MATTRESS NO LONGER EXISTED. IT VANISHED INTO THIN AIR. IT 'NEVER APPEARED'
IN COURT ALTHOUGH FOR WEEKS IT WAS PARADED IN AND OUT OF COURT FOR THE WHOLE
WORLD TO WITNESS.
THIS IS WHAT LAWYER AND PARLIAMENTARIAN SIVARASA RASIAH HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE
MATTER:
"IN 1998-1999 TRIALS, ANWAR EXPERIENCED THE PHENOMENON OF FABRICATION OF DNA
EVIDENCE. WE HAD SAC RODWAN ILLEGALLY REMOVING DNA SAMPLES FROM FORENSIC
CUSTODY. IN CROSS-EXAMINATION OF THE PROSECUTION'S WITNESSES IT WAS EXPOSED
THAT DNA TAKEN FROM BLOOD SAMPLES WAS PLANTED ON THE INFAMOUS MATTRESS."
"WHEN CONFRONTED WITH THIS FACT THE PROSECUTION AMENDED ITS CHARGE AND
PERSUADED THE JUDGE, AUGUSTINE PAUL, TO EXPUNGE THE ENTIRE DNA EVIDENCE FROM
THE RECORD, PREVENTING ANWAR'S LAWYERS FROM RESPONDING."
THERE WERE, IN FACT, OTHER SO-CALLED 'DAMAGING EVIDENCE' THAT THEY CREATED
AGAINST ANWAR TO CONVINCE THE PUBLIC THAT HE IS INDEED GUILTY OF SODOMY. IN
TIME, MALAYSIA TODAY WILL PARADE THESE WITNESSES AND REVEAL THIS EVIDENCE TO
DEMONSTRATE TO THE PUBLIC THAT THE SLIME-BALL IGP AND SCUMBAG AG, PLUS THEIR
SLITHERY MINION, RODWAN, FIXED ANWAR'S ASS GOOD AND PROPER (PUN INTENDED).
NOW, RODWAN MET SAIFUL THREE DAYS EARLIER AND THESE TWO EXCHANGED AT LEAST
EIGHT PHONE CALLS. NEVERTHELESS, NO POLICE REPORT WAS MADE UNTIL SAIFUL HAD
VISITED TWO HOSPITALS — THREE DAYS LATER. WHY ENGAGE IN EIGHT PHONE CALLS
AND HAVE A SECRET MEETING WITH RODWAN IN A HOTEL ROOM, AND ONLY AFTER VISITS
TO TWO HOSPITALS DOES SAIFUL MAKE HIS POLICE REPORT?
LET US LOOK AT THE TIMELINE AGAIN.

Dr M’s Pathetic Attempt To Warp Malaysian History — By Kua Kia Soong.

"History consists of a series of accumulated imaginative inventions." (Voltaire)

It would appear that Dr Mahathir Mohmad's memoirs have been published with two main objectives in mind:

A Clarion Call To The Christians In Malaysia — By Thomas Lee Seng Hock.

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 07:26 AM PST

Enough is enough! The usually docile, meek and temperate Christian community in Malaysia has had enough, and has exploded in anger over what they perceive as their human, civil and constitutional rights being denied and rendered illusory, with the latest seizure of 30,000 Malay Bibles from the Kuching Port in Sarawak.

Several such incidents over the last few years are nothing less than an assault on their God-given right to worship, and to practice and propagate their faith in their own national language, without any legal restriction or political oppression.

There should no place for such evil bigotry and discrimination towards any religious belief in our country which is founded on the fundamental human right basis of freedom to worship and to practice and propagate one's faith without hindrance, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.

Article 8 of the Federal Constitution states that "All persons are equal before the law and entitled to the equal protection of the law", and "there shall be no discrimination against citizens on the ground only of religion, race, descent, place of birth or gender in any law …."

Article 11 provides for every person to have "the right to profess and practice his religion", and that every religious group has the right (a) to manage its own religious affairs, (b) to establish and maintain institutions for religious or charitable purposes, and (c) to acquire and own property and hold and administer it in accordance with the law.

The refusal to allow the Christians in the country to use certain Bahasa Malaysia words in their publications is a direct infringement of their constitutional right to freedom of religious worship and practice. As patriotic citizens of the nation, the Christians in Malaysia should automatically have total access to use the complete vocabulary of the national language. There is no such thing as the monopoly of certain words by any particular group.

The seizure of the Malay Bibles on the contention that they contain several Bahasa Malaysia words deemed incongruous for use by the Christians is an infraction of their constitutional rights as legitimate loyal citizens, and a direct transgression of the universal human right provisions of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted on December 10, 1948.

It is definitely wrong, unconstitutional, even immoral, when a certain section of the citizenry is denied and deprived of their human and constitutional rights based on the unilateral action of some bias and racist extremist civil servants.

The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM), an umbrella body that represents over 90 per cent of churches in the country, is surely justified in publicly challenging the Barisan Nasional federal government to explain the latest seizure of the Malay Bibles at the Kuching Port, and questioning its sincerity and integrity in dealing with the fiasco and other similar related issues over the last few years.

What then should the Christians in Malaysia do in the face of such an oppressive political tyranny, in which their freedom to practice their faith is being undermined?

First of all, as Christians, we believe in the power of divine intervention, so we must unite in unceasing prayer before the throne of grace to seek God's help. A nationwide non-stop prayer vigil should be organised by the various churches to pray for the nation and its leaders. Individual Christians on their own should also set aside a day each week to fast and pray.

Secondly, the Christians must be united in their stand to defend their human and constitutional rights, to curb and prevent any breach or dilution of such fundamental rights. They should give steadfast and strong support to the CFM and church leaders in their negotiation with the authorities on the matter. At the same time, the CFM and its leadership should be resolute and unwavering in their stand, without fear or favour. Those who are afraid and not willing to risk the prospect of being detained for standing up should step down from the leadership positions.

Thirdly, the churches should start holding talks and forums to inform and educate their members on the issues affecting them. Pastors should preach and teach on biblical subjects such as Christian responsibility in society. For too long, Christians, including the pastors and church leaders, have been basking in their comfort zone within the four walls of their churches, with nary a concern about their rights being eroded or tramped on. The time has come for Christians to emerge from their spiritual slumber to play a more vocal and visible role as loyal citizens of the nation. They should mobilise themselves to campaign and vote for those who are righteous, just, honest, fair, humble, competent, and incorruptible to serve as their representatives in Parliament and the various state assemblies.

Finally, Christians who are qualified and willing to serve the nation in the socio-political arena should offer themselves as candidates for election to Parliament and the various state assemblies. We need Joseph who became the prime minister of Egypt and saved the country from famine and economic disaster, Moses who fought for the liberation of those oppressed slaves of Egypt, Daniel who stood firm for his faith in the face of religious persecution, David who served as king and unified the nation, Nehemiah who served as a high government official and used his position to help rebuilt Jerusalem, John the Baptist who was beheaded for exposing and condemning the immorality of Herod, and the apostle Paul who exercised his citizenship rights to stand up for his faith. Of course, the prime example is the Lord Jesus who challenged and spoke out against the hypocritical Jewish religious leaders and the oppressive Roman political authorities, and was crucified.

The clarion call to the Christians in Malaysia today is to join with all other Malaysians of like vision and mission to participate in an active national service to bring about the transformation of the nation to a new and better Malaysia.

Halt MRT project, say Pakatan MPs

Parliamentarians from Pakatan Rakyat, whose constituencies are situated along the proposed Mass Rapid Transit lines, have urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to issue a temporary stop work order. There was no proper consultation with residents in the vicinity of the proposed stations, the lawmakers said, apart from what they claimed were murky deals with project delivery partner (PDP), Gamuda-MMC. Bunohan: Home is where the heart breaks

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 11:11 PM PST

Taking its title rather appropriately from the rustic village of Bunohan, where it is set, maverick director Dain Said's latest offering is ready to set spines a-tingle. In this feature film, due to be released at the end of 2011, Dain explores the question of bloodlines through three estranged brothers—Adil the kickboxer, Ilham the hired assassin and Bakar the ambitious businessman, whose paths cross again in the rural Kelantan-Thai border. As their fates entangle, the film, which like Dain's previously unreleased film, Dukun (based on convicted murderer and shaman Mona Fandey) deals with issues deep and unsettling. "The film tackles subjects close to heart. Beneath its obvious plot is a commentary on our dying traditions and the damage we do to our environment in our relentless pursuit of money and power," he said at the sneak preview this week. The theme of conflict and survival sets in early in the film as it opens to protagonist Adil (Zahril Adam of Karaoke fame), or as he is known to friends Bunga Lalang, fights for his life in a kickboxing (or tomoi) fight. Pulled out by his friend, the young man makes a dash for survival away from his hometown. Unknowingly, his brother Ilham (seasoned actor Faizal Hussein) is set on his tail to redeem the debt of blood. Meanwhile, Bakar (Pekin Ibrahim of Apokalips), the only of the three who 'made it' returns form the city ostensibly to care for his ailing father. But is he the only good apple in the rotten barrel? As the three <b>...</b>

PKR Sarawak”Failed Debate…??”

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 05:56 AM PST

Politicians are all known to be very stubborn when it comes to "protecting their turf "and more so especially when they know they are challenged. PKR Sarawak knows that their dates given earlier has been rejected and they tried on March 10th again.

BN Sarawak Chairman Taib has already endorsed Adenan Satem to debate against Baru Bian but with conditions. (see video in full below)

This is the posting in the FB Stampin Keadilan which we copy and posts in full.

The much hyped gathering turned out to be anti climax.
A publicity stunt by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman Baru Bian could claimed to be the most highly secured press conference with the ratio police and organiser cum attendance stand at 20 to 1.
The event held at the old Court House saw the presence of 18 PKR leaders alig…ned to Baru Bian, over 50 press media and about 200 policemen spread over at the Waterfront and Central Police station.
In an earlier press conference this morning at PKR stampin branch, Baru Bian said he would be giving evidence of the NCR land that the Chief Minister wants to see first before debating with him on the issue.
Baru Bian told the press that he would be arriving at the old Court House at 4.30 pm as the place was formally used by the White Raja as DUN sitting. He said he would read out a speech context from Charles Brooke speech warning the natives to hold on to their lands.
As early as 12 noon, police were seen gathering at the Waterfront and around the city area. Vehicles going to the Waterfront via Kho Hun Yeang Street were stopped and checked.
The road leading to the Gambier through Kho Hun Yeang was closed. A number of police were on standby in the Central police station and around it including those at the India Street.
At about 4.15pm, three of PKR leaders arrived. There were more press members and police than PKR.
Baru Bian arrived right at the dot at 4.30 pm. He stood on the stairs leading to the old court house with PKR Sarawak secretary, Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh and PKR Sarawak Youth Chief Ahmad Nazib.
As he read a text of speech of Sir Charles Brooke in 1915, more and more PKR members joined him on the stairs. There were only 18 PKR members attending. There were no sign of the evergreen Hafsah Harun faction members.
As Baru Bian read his speech to the press and take questions, police from the Special Branch gets closer and a number were filming the scene. The uniformed police stood at the roadside and a distant away.
There was no commotion and Baru Bian finished his speech in peace.
When asked on the police's heavy presence, Baru Bian said he was surprise that there were so many police and it was good that they were there to prevent any untowards incident.
He said he hoped that the police would respond fast too in other criminal offences.
He said it was fine with him to be surrounded by police and that he felt more secure with their presence.
"Police are good people and I appreciate their presence," he added.
Kuching OCPD Mun Kock Keong who was there said police are taking the whole thing as an election exercise. Asked if he could call it a rehearsal for the police, he said, yes, you can.

According to some BN Youth members they said,"You pay the consequences for being stubborn and that is just cheap publicity. Adenan has thrown the challenge after he was endorsed and Baru if he is afraid should name someone else.Is he afraid of Adenan…??"

Adenan has already said he is also not afraid of Anwar ibrahim the de facto leader of PKR.

X-Men: An Example of Intelligent Design

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 02:24 AM PST

(This post has to do with sciencey stuff, but I'll try keep things simple and easily understandable)

 XMen

Ahh, the X-Men… Mutant superheroes who strive for peace between mutants and ordinary humans. Much emphasis is put on the 'evolution' of Homo sapiens (us) into Homo superior (them). But did you realize that the very existence of these so-called 'mutants' is a powerful argument for Intelligent Design?

A few quick tutorials first: Intelligent Design states that if you look at living things from a neutral, objective, unbiased point of view, you would conclude that life was DESIGNED by some sort of an INTELLIGENCE. (For monotheists, this amazing Intelligence that designed and created life would equate to God). Life, they say, is simply too complex and intricate to have occurred by Random Chance (the goddess of Darwin's Evolution).

For example, imagine if one day humanity became extinct. 10,000 years in the future, aliens explore earth and discover all sorts of things like cars, computers and ais-kacang machines. The aliens think it over, and decide that these things were created by RANDOM NATURAL EVENTS like lightning, UV-rays and meteor impacts. These natural events SOMEHOW put together the complex machinery without any guiding forces overseeing the correct installation of Windows XP.

     ComputerInsides

It seems silly that anyone could think complex inventions were assembled entirely at random, with no intelligence guiding their careful design. Yet organic life is vastly more complex and complicated than the greatest of human inventions! The brain, the cell, even DNA is so mind-bogglingly perfect in function… Yet the theory of evolution says that these were all the result of nature's dice.

One key argument in Intelligent Design is something called Irreducible Complexity. This concept states that many features of living things (such as eyes, flagella and genes) cannot function at all if even one part is missing.

For example, if the eye had no retina, it wouldn't be able to see. If it had no cornea, it wouldn't be able to see. The eye needs all its parts TOGETHER to function. I mean, just look at how many things a Medic student has to memorize!

     EyeDiagram

But the theory of evolution says that only small changes occur over a long time. So it would be impossible to evolve an entire eye suddenly – the cornea, retina, iris and etc would each evolve seperately. But since none of these things do anything useful on their own, they are useless baggage. The organism that evolved a cornea should die out, since it is less fit for survival.

Therefore, says Irreducible Complexity, the many parts of the eye must have been put together simultaneously and in the right positions – the work of an Intelligence.

Now back to the X-Men. Let's use the example of Cyclops, real name of Scott Summers.

             OpticBlast

His mutant powers are to fire 'optic blasts' of energy from his eyes. The source of this energy is ordinary sunlight, which Cylops can somehow absorb.

Now although Cyclops is an extraordinary mutant with incredible powers, his parents were ordinary humans. This means that within ONE GENERATION, 'random natural events' caused Cyclops to 'evolve' the following traits SIMULTANEOUSLY and PUT TOGETHER FLAWLESSLY:

1. A system to absorb sunlight energy;
2. A system to store this energy;
3. A system to change this energy into optic blasts;
4. Eye that can release optic blasts;
5. Eyes, eyelids and other body parts that are not destroyed by his own optic blasts.

Wow, now that is a handful of random, non-intelligently put together features! Seems more like the work of an incredibly intelligent Designer, doesn't it?

In fact, in a non-616 Marvel continuity, the X-Factor that causes superpowered mutations was implanted into humans eons ago by ultra-beings known as the Celestials! So much for the next step in 'evolution'.

So even within the X-Men's own comic-book reality, random naturalistic Darwinistic evolution has nothing to do with the miracle of life. From this day forward, let no Darwin-fanboy look up to mutants as an endorsement of evolution!

  XEvo

Lol!

The man. The ex-prime minister. The comedian.
Dr. Mahathir Mohd, Malaysia's longest-serving prime minister, is much loved and much hated  by Malaysians. Depending on who you speak to. Some say he was the great architect of Malaysia's march into global recognition. Others say he is responsible for the terminal afflictions of cronyism and corruption. But love him or hate him you must admit that Dr.Mahathir is a very funny man. Next to him Harith Iskander sounds as funny as a George W. Bush making sense.

The Star's June Wong compiled a series of excerpts from Dr. Mahathir's autobiography Doctor In The House.  In today's second and final installment there is some laugh-out-loud comedy which I would like to share with you.

Chapter 3: I Am A Malay
"......as Prime Minister, I made a mistake or an unpopular decision, people were ready with their "dim-witted Malay" slurs. But when I made good decisions, it was always because I had Indian blood. I wanted to prove otherwise: that Malays were more than capable of thinking, progressing and leading......"
Errr......"I wanted to prove......Malays were more than capable of thinking, progressing and leading?"  How did you do that?  When you made good decisions (or bad) you were still an Indian making them, right? You've said many times before that Malays are a constitutional race only.  Good or bad, your brain still Indian ma. No ah? Faarniiiie la you.

Chapter 14: The Bitter Thrill of Politics

"I listened carefully at first, but I got tired of his style of delivery. He adopted the didactic tone of a know-all schoolmaster, telling us all what we should do and pointing out all the "mistakes" we were making"......"his manner of addressing the Malaysian Parliament when he was a member, was to lecture his listeners about what was right and what was wrong"

Ya lor. Always like that what! Baarger!  Oh.....oh you were talking about Lee Kuan Yew. I thought you were talking about yourself.  Sorry ah. Faarniiiiiieeee la you.

Chapter 53: Anwar's Challenge

"Whenever my name is mentioned in a book or article, I am described as the Prime Minister who threw his deputy into jail. The fact that he was properly charged and tried in court is never mentioned."

Huh? Properly charged and tried ah? Oh...oh of course the prime minister and home minister can decide what is proper and all, right?  Correct, correct, correct.  So faaaaniiiiieee la you.

Chapter 51: Putrajaya

"Putrajaya is a beautiful, functional city. When I visited the Versailles Palace outside Paris I heard the guide proudly extol its beauty."

Stop! Stop! Stop! Please doctor. Please stop. You're making me laugh so hard I might get a coronary.  You so FAAAAAAAAAAAARNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE la you!

And finally, for all you baargers who have been saying that the doc has been and still is a corrupt mofo just read this next bit and then shaddap. Okay?

Chapter 28: Bersih, Cekap, Amanah

"I practised the values we promoted

and resisted any attempts to corrupt me. It involved controlling greed. As Prime Minister I was already receiving an adequate salary but the Government also provided me with comfortable accommodation, paid my electricity and water bills, gave me cars and aircraft for my trips and allowances for my travels.
I had everything and I did not need anything more.

But of course my detractors still considered me corrupt. However, my conscience is clear."

Jewish Nobel Laureates: 11590% More Than Population Statistics Might Expect

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 01:52 AM PST

Since its inception in 1895 till the last presentations in 2007, there have been 155 Nobel Prize laureates who are of Jewish lineage.

Out of the total 684 Nobel laureates for the above categories, a full 22.66% of them have been of Jewish lineage.

An amazing list of achievements for a people who comprise just 0.1955% of the world population!

That, as the title of my post states, is a statistical over-representation of Jewish people among Nobel Prize laureates to the value of 11590.793% (i.e there are 115.9 times as many Jewish Nobel laureates as there would be if every race had equal representation among the Nobel Prize winners).

And many of their contributions to science and society are practical and beneficial to our everyday lives (e.g. anesthesia, penicillin, blood groups, relativity which enables GPS).

And they're making new breakthroughs all the time, not just once-upon-a-time during some wistfully recalled Golden Age in the long gone past.

This in spite of thousands of years of persecution, climaxing at in the Holocaust murder of 6 million, and institutionalized throughout the world  even today.

Therefore even I, of the great Chinese race that is more than a billion strong, must admit the superiority of God's chosen people. (Yes Dr. M, they do rule at least the intellectual world.)

Something the Death-to-Jews/Israel/Zionists crowd should think about before their next loud protest against the insinuated 'global parasites'. And just who is busy shouting slogans, rioting and burning cars instead of working hard to better mankind?

Indeed YHWH's unbreakable promise to Abraham (patriarch of the Jewish people through Isaac through Jacob aka Israel) has been fulfilled, and will continue to be fulfilled:

  • "I will make you into a great nation
           and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
  •  I will bless those who bless you,
           and whoever curses you I will curse;
           and all peoples on earth
           will be blessed through you
    ." – Genesis 12:2-3

All the peoples on earth (no matter how ungrateful) have been blessed through Abraham's descendants, the Jewish race…

Through the contributions to human civilization by individuals, and ultimately through the salvation and redemption that is offered to us through the greatest Jewish-born person of all history – Jesus the Messiah.

PS. The Nobel Peace Prize is not included even though Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Rabin won it, because frankly, it is determined by just five people based on their political bias (not scientific review nor neutral objectivity).

Which is why such obvious embarassments and failures as Jimmy Carter, Yasser Arafat and Al 'Haven't Achieved Anything Yet' Gore could win it.

PPS. Meanwhile, the rest of the Middle East populace is 2350% over-represented in terrorist incidents. Go figure.

END CREDITS: Meryl Yourish where I found the link to how many Jewish Nobel laureates there have been.

PPPS. The Jawa Report does a similar type of calculation, only regarding terrorists incidents on US soil by a certain segment of the population… 45 out of 125 is 36%, but the segment is 0.08% of the total population, so they are over-represented by 45,000% (i.e. 450 times as many terrorists from this segment as there ought to be if everything else were equal).

Brian De Palma’s Redacted Rejected by Audiences

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 01:03 AM PST

UPDATE: Great work De Palma, you've achieved your goal: Arid Uka shoots and kills two American servicemen at Frankfurt Airport after mistaking the film's rape scene for reality.

RedactedRejectedPoster

Brian De Palma's Redacted is touted as the 'true face of the US armed forces in Iraq', and focuses on the horrific Mahmudiyah killings where five US soldiers raped a 14-year old Iraqi girl and killed her and her family.

Director De Palma makes no secret about the reason he made such a movie: "The movie is an attempt to bring the reality of what is happening in Iraq to the American people. The pictures are what will stop the war. One only hopes that these images will get the public incensed enough to motivate their Congressmen to vote against this war."

Unfortunately for him and producer Mark Cuban, hardly anyone went to see the smearfest that passes for a Hollywood documentary drama – let alone any members of Congress.

The New York Post reports that the vomit-inducing snuff porn film took in a pathetic USD 25,628 in its opening weekend in the only 15 theaters insane enough to carry it.

That's an average of USD 1708 per theatre. That also means that roughly only 3,000 people were tricked into seeing it in the entire country.

Or to put it another way, it earned 1,000 times less than Beowulf did. De Palma chickened out of buying the rights to the film back from Mark Cuban.

The proof to me that De Palma made the film solely as an anti-military piece, and NOT an accurate docu-drama, is that he didn't even include the usual 'epilogue text' that tells what happened to the characters after the film plot finishes.

By the time De Palma made Redacted, all five of the soldiers involved in the case had already been arrested and charged.

Three have been tried and sentenced to 90, 100 and 110 years in prison. The alleged ringleader, is being tried in a federal court and is reportedly facing the death penalty.

But instead of portraying the American military's zero tolerance policy and harsh punishment of war crimes, the director intentionally leaves the plot unresolved.

He chooses instead to show photos of Iraqis who died – likely due to terrorist attacks – to further stir up terrorist sentiment.

Rather than focus on the newly restored of hope and peace in Iraq, or the stunning defeats of the terrorists, or even common Iraqis turning against the forces of chaos

Mark Cuban and Brian De Palma choose to focus on one ugly incident out of the four years of exemplary peacebringing efforts.

On five depraved beasts-in-men's-guises out of the more than 400,000 troops who have protected Iraqi civilians from Al-Qaeda thugs.

And they call it a 'realistic portrayal of U.S. troops'. Utter bullcrap. It is not even a complete account of five petty rapists and murderers, let alone the overwhelmingly positive presence of the U.S. troops in now-stabilized Iraq.

As Bill O'Reilly says, Cuban and De Palma don't give a damn whether such a biased and narrow-viewed portrayal of the situation in Iraq will be used to rile up more terrorist sentiment against the West.

As Debbie Schlussel says, there ain't no stretch of the truth that can makes Redacted a 'patriotic' movie the way Mark Cuban LSD-trips it is.

As Michael Fumento says, Hollywood routinely replaces reality with politically-skewed hallucinations which serve to dull audiences to the truth of who the real villians and evil men are.

As JD Johannes says, anti-warm films are a pathetic attempt by cowardly men to convince the rest of the populace to be just as cowardly – assuaging the fragile self-worth of the Hollywood invertebrates.

But terrorist-sympathetic directors and producers like them will be forced to give a damn sooner or later, because anti-war, anti-American films produced by Americans are being rejected wholesale by American audiences.

The Kingdom? Money-loser. Lions For Lambs? Flop. In the Valley of Elah? Flop. No End in Sight? Flop. Rendition? 400% flop. Flop flop flop.

And of course… Redacted???

MEGA FLOP.

After all, do anti-war directors really expect American audiences to throw hard-earned money into some rich hypocrite's pocket so they can be told how evil and horrible Americans are for two hours?

Update 6 May 2008: Compare with Iron Man, a superhero film about Americans killing terrorists, takes in 100 million in one weekend.

Mahathir’s Memoir - Being A Haunting of Old Buddies, Jekyll and Hyde

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 12:58 AM PST

Mahathir opened Pandora's Box upon himself. Seeking to have his last say no matter what, the ex-premier, riding on a wave of a popularity-comeback, the man, in his 800-pages plus memoir, is shown in the early reactions to the book as nasty.

It's only been three days since he launched the great book and 5,000 copies had flown off the shelves.

Early reactions are making the monumental work like it's entitled, A Doctor in a Haunted House - Memoirs of a Jekyll seeking for a place to Hyde.

He asked for it. From the reactions, Mahathir Mohamed, the doctor and long time premier (he stayed all of 22 years at the helm), apparently wants to be best remembered as a pugilist, squeezing into history a wondrous storm to batter him so the adrenaline will keep flowing in his twilight days. He is 86.

He wrote into his memoirs a series of nasty remarks and accounts of persons he had undone and those he crossed swords with to provide for him a clean bill of health.

Hundreds have not agreed with the one-eyed. The numbers will pile into the thousands within a month.

It's the view of the personality from his lofty perch, his nest, that's now being bombarded, the bombardment stretching into a force of willful destruction of Mahathir's version by a popular force that wants history to reflect the people's perceptions.

While Mahathir spent 20 pages of his book on his decision to sack and clobber Anwar Ibrahim on the basis of the dubious allegations of Umi Hafilda, most of the people simply saw Anwar as one of his rivals he clobbered to stay on as premier.

Anwar, he had written in his memoir, had asked four women for sex, two of whom said 'no' while the other two undressed.

That was according to Umi Hafilda, the sister of Anwar's former confidential secretary who is now number two in the wracked Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Umi Hafilda was featured in the recent twin by-elections, in Merlimau and Kerdau.

She was reported to have attracted large crowds, which she can, dragging sibling-rivalry sensationally through the mud and revealing succulent sexual stories about Anwar Ibrahim.

But that's where Umi comes and goes, herself not a likely candidate for any virtue.

Anwar fumed. Still in court in a second leg of the sodomy charges, he combusted in Banting last night (10 March) and reached for Mahathir's throat in an exchange of libelous and sub-judicial remarks for a slanderous tirade, like Alladin's bargain of the old lamp for new.

The storm has begun. The opposition pact requires unification, uniformity and unity. Now it can embark on a recall of the Free Anwar Campaign.

In court the last prosecution witness, a senior police officer, divulged the surprising detail that Saiful Bukhari, who is the man Anwar was alleged to have sodomized, had run to Najib's wife first, and not directly to the Prime Minister as we have been made to believe before.

It's a very small detail for the pact to ride on.

Saiful, it appeared, had had the DNA of several men in his anus. A scientist had speculated in court that it could have happened when the man sat on a toilet bowl. Take care!

Reactions to the earth-shaking memoir and the trial in court are happening as the world is going upside down, making Malaysia politically dicey.

China suddenly sprung a USD 7.3 billion trade deficit in February, said to be caused by the volatile prices of oil because of the "democratic revolts" in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena).

That revolt has become a civil war in Libya and in Bahrain Sunnis battle Shiahs on the streets.

The regional revolution is scheduled to happen in Saudi Arabia today (11 March). It's the largest oil producer.

In Egypt the revolution has wound its way into Muslim-Christian unrest. Some 2.4 million barrels of oil run through the Suez-Mediterranean pipeline per day.

If China can fall into a trade deficit following a simmering oil threat, what will happen should oil prices surge to frightening heights will certainly be the Chinese economic crisis that's predicted to happen in four years time.

Muslims violence against minorities has spread from Nigeria, Somalia and Egypt to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and to Indonesia.

The environment could not have been more exciting for Mahathir to launch his exorcism.

People are waiting for the reactions of Razaleigh and Musa, the duo that teamed to challenge Mahathir for the leadership of Umno in 1987 and lost by 43 votes.

Of Razaleigh, the affable prince from Kelantan, Mahathir had said he sploshed more than Ringgit 20 million of his own money into the 1987 contest, an allegation most people in Umno can hardly believe.

In fact, about a couple of weeks before the contest, Marina Yusof and the writer together told Razaleigh to quit, seeing he would lose by a count of 26 votes at that point of time.

Votes are countables and we can know from the bundle of reports that had come in. Ibrahim Ali was the director of Razaleigh's campaign for the 1987 contest. He too said Razaleigh would lose by such a slim margin.

Later some Umno members suggested to Razaleigh to purchase the required votes and he flatly refused.

Razaleigh and Musa are not the end of the complainants. Mahathir has asked for a tsunami to engulf him. The raving reviews are merely a preface.

In the given circumstances people he rubbed would throttle the godfather for a joyride that can be politically profitable.

If the forces are strong enough, the guards will change and heads may be made to roll at high speed, like in pinball. Najib, as premier, will have to keep himself at a safe distance. --- a. ghani ismail, 11 March 2011

Palanivel and why BN prefers you stay poor

Posted: 10 Mar 2011 10:20 PM PST

Just posting up my most recent TMI column.. :)

Palanivel and why BN prefers you stay poor

"If you're troubled by poverty in the city, move back to the estates." That's MIC president G. Palanivel's advice to the Indians.

It's been a while since we've had such a clear reminder of how Barisan Nasional's (BN) plan seems to very simply be: Keep Malaysians poor and ignorant, thus making them easy to rule and keep pliant.

For example, it is almost funny how Umno speaks of the need for special privileges to uplift the Malays, given that the self-proclaimed lack of significant mass social mobility among the Malays is itself a damning indictment of Umno's utter failure to eradicate poverty amongst Malays — or amongst any Malaysians for that matter.

I am disinclined to believe that even Umno politicians can be so incompetent, and can thus only conclude that the reason for this sad state of affairs is simply that if there were no more poor Malays, Umno's raison d'etre would cease to exist.

How tragic it is, that it is in the interests of Malaysia's current dominant political party to keep Malays poor and disenfranchised.

A return to ignorance?

Even more tragic is the manner in which BN component parties seem to be taking a page out of Umno's book.

Palanivel seems nostalgic for the "good old days" where all it took was a bit of election bribery and perhaps some estates-based intimidation to keep the Indian vote in line.

Perhaps the most recent protest against racism in KL rattled their already-rattling bones, and Palanivel just wishes that these pesky Indians who go on about their "rights" should literally just skip town and slink back to the estates.

Why else would he demonstrate such an incredibly inane mindset by suggesting that the best thing for poor Indians to do is return to their even poorer economic backgrounds?

Are there even any sound economic reasons for this?

I am no blind advocate of urbanisation. People should live wherever they are most comfortable, and one would have to be a fool not to acknowledge the severe problems of urban poverty.

Nonetheless, we should examine the obvious reason urban migration occurs in the first place. People very seldom make a drastic change in their environment without important reason — which in this case usually consists of the search for brighter futures.

Estates: A black hole of social mobility

Palanivel seems extremely proud of this alleged RM700 minimum wage. The question he fails to address however is: Regardless of the wage, what kind of economic mobility does a job tapping rubber afford?

Is it an industry in which after X number of years, an estate worker might hope to purchase a small plot of land to work for himself? Do a great number of estate workers get promoted to management positions in Sime Darby?

Palanivel also says that it is better Malaysian Indians take these unskilled labour jobs instead of Indonesians and Bangladeshis. I found this incredibly insulting.

We can only be considered to be progressing as a nation if Malaysians are moving out of unskilled labour and into higher paying jobs which offer real opportunities for genuine social advancement.

We should in fact be hoping for more unskilled jobs to be taken over by foreign labour (the many refugees in Malaysia could contribute significantly), because this could indicate that Malaysians are moving on to better jobs.

Learning from the Middle East

In the absence of sound economic reasoning, one would be forced to conclude that Palanivel's backward suggestion is informed by a subversive desire to keep Malaysian voters as pliant, obedient peons — as this, of course, keeps them subservient to the ruling powers that be.

While support for those that protested in KL the weekend before seems almost eclipsed by support for uprisings in the Middle East (uprisings that rightfully deserve to be supported), they still seemed to have shaken up a few of our own ruling elite, and rightfully so.

In places like Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya, heads of state learnt the hard way that you cannot keep a people down, and you cannot expect them to live in poverty and like it. Palanivel would do well to take heed of these lessons learnt.

A side effect of urbanisation is that ideas, information and movements tend to spread faster. If Palanivel thinks he can turn back the clock and undo the collective awareness that Indians have achieved in these last few years, he has another thing coming.

There are indeed a myriad of difficult problems facing the Indian community — amongst them severe poverty, discrimination, and being the group that seems to suffer the worst from abuse and deaths in detention (as I write, Selvach remains detained indefinitely and possibly subject to torture, all because he testified that he saw policemen beat Gunasegaran to death).

It is nothing short of foolish to suggest that the answers to these problems are to "balik estet." The solution to these problems are to stop our ruling elite from stealing what belongs to the people, to enshrine a real and enduring respect for human rights and to start treating all Malaysians as human beings — not cows to be milked and slaughtered at will.
