UMNO/Zainal Sakom Jual Tanah Surau pada Taukeh Cina

UMNO/Zainal Sakom Jual Tanah Surau pada Taukeh Cina

Dulu Tulang Besi pernah dedah Majlis Agama Islam Melaka pernah menjual bangunan ada "tauke cina". .

Chew Ting Teck, Hung Te Hsin @ Ang Teck Thieng, Siaw Kwee Mow @ Sia Hock Chai, Sip Kew Yin, Tan Kok Yee, Tan Pang Kuan, Chow Soon Tat @ Chew Soon Tat, Chew Teng Meng @ Francis Chew, Chew Siew Ying and Dhew Teng Fook @ Chow Teng Fook.

HIDUP MELAYU!!!! HIDUP UMNO!!!!!

S'gor BN 'sold out' villagers

Dec 21, 10 10:35am

Land on which the Kampung Melayu Pekan Rawang surau is located was sold to private hands by the Selangor government in 2002, then controlled by BN.

The surau is now slated for demolition, triggering protests.

Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim's political secretary Faekah Husin (left) said the plot was held by SAP Holdings Sdn Bhd, then held by state investment arm Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd (KDEB).

In 2002, KDEB released its shares in SAP Holdings Bhd to private ownership. The same year, the state government approved a joint-venture project on the land between SAP Holdings and another company Mahamus Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, Faekah said the facts run contrary to claims by Umno leaders who are championing the residents' cause to campaign for the surau to be preserved.

She singled out Zainal Abidin Sakom as among the Umno leaders involved.

"Zainal Abidin has no moral or legal right to accuse the current state government for this mess because he was part of the state administration which not only released rights in SAP Holdings but also approved the project," she said.

'Umno and MCA responsible'

She also revealed that the current board of directors of SAP Holdings are Abu Bakar Mohd Amin, Norihan Mohd Bakri, Tan Kok Yee, Chong Fook Sin, Chew Siew Ying and Chew Ting Teck.

The company's shareholders are Chew Ting Teck, Hung Te Hsin @ Ang Teck Thieng, Siaw Kwee Mow @ Sia Hock Chai, Sip Kew Yin, Tan Kok Yee, Tan Pang Kuan, Chow Soon Tat @ Chew Soon Tat, Chew Teng Meng @ Francis Chew, Chew Siew Ying and Dhew Teng Fook @ Chow Teng Fook.

Commenting on demonstrations against the state government by Kampung Melayu Pekan Rawang residents, Faekah said they are targeting the wrong party.

"The facts clearly show who had forsaken the rights of the people. Instead of demonstrating against the state, it may be more appropriate for the demonstrators to take their complaint to the offices of Umno and MCA," she said.

However, she gave an assurance that the state government will work with the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department to find a solution to ensure that Muslims in the village can continue their religious activities.

Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) almost enslaved Malaysia to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)!

Posted: 21 Dec 2010 09:43 AM PST

  1. I know them both: Not just saying this. Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak (left) has more mettle and substance as a leader, whileBrother Anwar bin Ibrahim is like a fake Rolex, also pretender the throne who will do anything, including selling the country to the highest bidder, to be the prime minister, no chance in hell mate!

The whole country owes Tun Mahathir a lot. He is a national hero, according to my book, for averting the 1997 Asian Financial crisis to our advantage and that saved Malaysia from being enslaved by IMF!

IMF, one of the nasty tools of neo-Imperialism, to be avoided at all cost, unless if you are Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia or many more failed states of the world!

Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak said it would be easy to make political promises but reiterated the Malaysian government is a responsible government, and that any decision made under his leadership will be made solely based on realities.

Speaking after officiating Cuepac's 25th convention, he also said on bonus for civil servants, any bonus payments made would depend on the country's economic situation, and that the government must be realistic and not spend more than it earns.

"We cannot borrow to pay civil servant salaries or else we will end up being ruled by the IMF (International Monetary Fund). "What is the use of being independent when our sovereignty is ruled by an international body like IMF?" he said.

Ah yes! The proverbial IMF!

To me Najib was once again reminding level headed Malaysians that had Malaysia succumbed to borrowing from the IMF during the 1997 Asian Financial crisis, Malaysia would have been enslaved today and may be for the next 5o years. You see borrowing from IMF is worse than borrowing from your local Alongs. Malaysia will forever be paying the interest and at the same time our sovereignty and dignity lost.

Having said that and if it weren't for former prime minister, Tun Mahathir Mohamad, we, Malaysia, would have been forever enslaved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

If Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI), who was in 1997 a former deputy prime minister and finance minister, had his way and was successful in his "suggestion" that Malaysia should "seek" help from IMF to overcome the 1997 Asian Financial crisis, this country would have been forever in the control of IMF.

And BABI, would have been a powerful mandor, not a legitimate prime minister of , but a mandor or a chief slave of a country in real effect controlled by the IMF. Indeed he would have been the most powerful mandor running a country for a foreign power, where he could just roam the country looking for a good looking boys or men to be placed into his stable for his pleasure.
(For the uninitiated, mandor means a chief slave overseeing a bunch of other slaves)

If he had succeeded in enslaving Malaysia, during the 1997 Asian Financial crisis Malaysia and the whole western world would have been his "paradise" for his thirst of unnatural sex which is considered to be against the natural order.

Had not his secret be made public as a final weapon by Tun M, who had known about his sexual preference but couldn't careless as long as he kept it to himself and be a good politician, BABI would have succeeded where no bloody sodomite had ever dream of doing before - that is to be a prime minister under a false pretense!

Had BABI succeeded in overthrowing Mahathir as prime minister and Malaysia went on to seek financial from IMF, the country would have not been able to stave off any attempt by IMF asking for reform in a country which it has in control.

This was what was said about countries that fell into trap the of borrowing money from IMF: "IMF intervention has been roundly criticized. The role of the International Monetary Fund was so controversial during the crisis that many locals called the financial crisis the "IMF crisis".[18] Many commentators in retrospect criticized the IMF for encouraging the developing economies of Asia down the path of "fast track capitalism", meaning liberalization of the financial sector (elimination of restrictions on capital flows); maintenance of high domestic interest rates to attract portfolio investment and bank capital; and pegging of the national currency to the dollar to reassure foreign investors against currency risk.[17]

What Najib trying to say is: Beware of wolves in sheepskin! And to please use the power of our mental deduction, and to try to analyse situations, and not to fall prey for political seduction!

Merry Christmas to all

Lagi banyak kita dibohongi lagi kuat kita menyokongnya. Bak kata orang dikampung saya, 'nasib kaulah jang!!!'

Merry Christmas?

Hello everyone! My last post was on December 11 and since then I've been receiving all sorts of messages asking what's happened to me and how come the blog has not been updated.  The messages were quite amuisng.

"Oi! What happened lah, Patrick?"
"I think Patrick has lost his balls."
"Patrick deserves a good rest."
"Patrick is planning something big."
(There's always the eternal optimist lurking around.)

And there are other more colourful ones that referred to my ancestry and all.  But I think I shall spare you those.

The truth is that I have been away in LaLa Land otherwise known as Singapore. No, I am not checking out emigration possibilities although that thought had crossed my mind. Thankfully, alcohol-induced stupor  doesn't last that long. And while I was in Singapore there was just no way of getting my hands on a hard copy of any Malaysian newspaper. I am not sure why but online versions just does not give me any inspiration (if it can be called that) to blog.  Anyway, so I am back in Bolehland and been reading the newspapers that I missed.  And I still don't have anything that I want to blog about. Ya, ya, ya...there's been lots in the news lately. Ranging from Parliament suspensions to the creation of a 3rd Force in Malaysian politics to the MACC dragging out some BIG-er fish to parade ahead of elections to Chief Ministers marrying women young enough to be their granddaughters.  Yes there has been much happening. But it is all SO DEPRESSING.

But luckily in today's news there were some rather good funnies.

I just read in The Malaysian Insider that Najib said that 1Malaysia was his own creation and not a carbon copy from another country. I supposed he was referring to allegations that he took the cue from the 1Israel campaign slogan.  Well, he's right. It is not a CARBON copy. Otherwise we'd have to change our country's name right? Like that also don't understand ah. Some more say I copy. Hummmph! The prime minister should learn to quit when he's ahead.  But he had to add, "The 1Malaysia concept was not copied from another country. It is my own creation. Other countries may have a one this and a one that but nowhere in the world is there a 1 Malaysia, People First, Performance Now".  I know he is trying to take ownership of the slogan but with that kind of argument?  Tsk...tsk...tsk...

At the same function Najib also had this great punchline..."We cannot afford to be spendthrift, we have to spend according to our capability. What is important is that the country's future is guaranteed under the present government." HUH???!!! Coming from the leader of the BN/Umno government?

In today's Star it was reported that Prime Minister Najib said that the government will strike a balance between meritocracy and social justice when rewarding students for outstanding academic achievements. I presume that he was referring to the awarding of scholarships and other financial assistance for deserving students.  He said that while rewarding students based on meritocracy was important it was also imperative not to sideline others who came from low income families and still achieved good results.  What's the big problem here?  It isn't rocket science what.  Scholarships should be based on academic achievements as well as family income levels. So if a millionaire's children achieve good academic results they should not be in line for government funds to further their education because the family can afford to fund it themselves. Simple. No?  So why is the PM making such a big deal? Dunno lah.

Our prime minister did add another great quotation to his list of hilarious utterings in today's Star. He said, "We should not be doing things to divide the nation. If we divide this nations, we will all be losers."  The question is, why is he telling this obvious fact to US? We know already lah, Yang Whatever. Tell your Umno flers lah.

In page N3 of The Star today there is a story that initially restored my faith in justice. Former senior immigration officer Yusuf Abu Bakar was sentenced to 56 years and fined RM620,000 for corruption. Wah! Finally, a BIG-er fish has been caught and charged and sentenced.  Wah! MACC means business now lah?  But when I read the story it was back to status quo.  The judge had ordered the fler's sentence to run concurrently. That meant that he serves no more than 6 years in jail. I guess he might even be out in less given good behaviour and whatever. Tell me the truth. Does that make you feel that things are finally going right? No.

But hey it's Christmas. The season to be jolly. The season to be sharing and giving. So there is a bit of good news from our Najib.  He's announced that the Federal Government is planning to make Penang the preferred economic hub of the region.  Just exactly how that translates into benefits for the rakyat he didn't say.  What? You expected him to?  Yes, there is a Santa Claus and he'll be leaving presents under your Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas.

SC scandals - Govt sleeping at the switch!

Posted: 21 Dec 2010 06:20 AM PST

We dont need Wikileaks here. The 'insiders' at the Securities Commission are doing it, and I personally think they are pro enough at getting all evidence that points to 'more and more' irregularities taking place. Awkwardly, chairwoman Zarinah Anwar seems to know all about it.

And the government, the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Bank Negara and other governing bodies are keeping mum, as if nothing happened. Even the Opposition never raised the issue, probably due to no knowledge of it or how such issues can be manipulated.

The Audit Oversight Board (AOB) involving the SC, Finance Ministry and accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) contains what is termed as 'a major fraud' due to the manner it was carried out.

Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah signed and approved the SC Audit Oversight Board (Fees) Regulations 2010 on April 13, 2010 after Zarinah signed it on April 8. The regulations were to come into force on April 15, 2010.

Despite the fact that it cannot be enforced without Ahmad Husni's approval and signature, the AOB went ahead and registed PwC on April 1st, which clearly contravenes the date of AOB enforcement.

"Not only is there evidence of the biggest regulatory scandal this country has seen this year, there is also a major accounting fraud perpetrated by PwC with regards to IM in Malaysia, which needs someone to explain," according to Zarinahtakesapaycut. (I believe a group of SC personnel are behind this site).

PwC does the audits for more than 100 public-listed companies in Bursa Malaysia, and the question is, are the taxpayers, shareholders and the Malaysian public in general are expected to accept that everything was fine despite all evidence to the contrary?

"Is this not as important as APCO, if not more important to investors confidence, transparency and economic robustness of the country? Will this not have an impact on hundreds of billions of the rakyat's money placed in the public listed companies by the EPF?," it said.

While demanding and answer from the government, it also suggested the Opposition should look into this as well as it involves the dignity of the country's corporate governance.

Well, I also agree that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib should read the website and take necessary actions.

Malaysia tetap hormati ajaran syiah negara lain – Jamil Khir
19/12/2010 5:07pm

YAN 19 Dis.

– Bernama
==========

- Tanya lah penganut Syiah, adakah mereka buang anak tepi jalan? tapi Melayu Islam Sunnah Wal Rasuah boleh menghalalkan segala janji dibayar cash. - Tak caya tanya mufti Perak. Kah Kah Kah..

NAZRI YOU HAVE NO CLASS BUT LOWEST CASTE OF THE HUMAN RACE

Nazri is the biggest joke in Malaysia and it is spreading worldwide. Everyone is talking about him and his lust not to mention his hypocrisy.

Double Standards Hypocrisy Double Standards Hypocrisy Double Standards is great when you don't believe what you preach! Yeah, they preach it but they don't follow their own preaching. They force the people to do one thing and they do the opposite. Punishment come fast when the people get caught but nothing happen when they are caught. What give them the moral authority with theirdouble standards?

Hypocrite or Fake Muslim?
Note, The Star Online got the number of pictures wrong. You can look for yourself and see more than "A photograph" was posted. By saying it was one picture, they are trying to make it sound less serious. Damn, you see mistakes were made in the first two words of the article. What else could they have gotten wrong? Do not blame the people at The Star Online, the guy writing the article might have a gun at his head whiling he was writing it.

Nazri has lost his moral authority. At this point his is just bring more shame to his party and family. His hypocrisy and his lack of strength in the wake of these picture bring in question his manhood. Elizabeth Wong is more of a man than Nazri because at least she faced the media. Nazri is in hiding, he hide like a little girl under her sheet because of the monsters in the closet. If he is not the person in these pictures, why not just say so?

Under Sharia law unlawful sexual intercourse (outside marriage) and the drinking of alcohol is strictly prohibited. Sexual offenses can carry a penalty of stoning to death or flogging. Drinking of alcohol isdefined as criminal offenses, they are often punishable by a prison.

Wouldn't you love to hear his stand on Sharia law right about now? What do you think he would say? Now that he has lost any moral authority to preach to the people of Malaysia. BTW, Why didn't the article mention the Double Standards for the son? Just look at the son of the man preaching Islam. Hey, go preach Islam to your son before you preach it to others:

Womanizer Womanizer Womanizer Nazri Aziz, Don't Kill The Poor Woman you Hypocrite. If you are the Unidentified Woman in the pictures with Nazri, you must hide. Please, try to leave the country if you think he still remember your name. Hopefully you are one of many and he has no idea who you are or where you live. Because you are not the one that leaked the pictures because the camera phone belong to him. He is the one holding the phone, we all can see that. He was the one stupid enough to take the pictures and he is the one that lost them. The asshole was probably showing off to a poor girl his camera phone when they first arrive in Malaysia.

Pakatan/BN “Know the Truth Part 2..”

Posted: 21 Dec 2010 04:47 AM PST

This was how we ended in the first article BN/Pakatan "Know the Truth"

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF POLITICS EVERONE..YOU CHOOSE TO READ AND KNOW WHAT IS REAL

Today this is for real:-

  • 1. Count me Out- A senior editor said,"he should know very well that he has no place in SUPP still he thinks that he is WANTED. He is trying to divert from the truth and he should have just said,"he is never interested in politics thats good enough." Furthermore who is he to be approached as there are many others more than capable than him. He will be very far in the line of others in SUPP and thats why he is trying to deflect it.
  •  2. S'wak whistleblower site 'hacked' Chance meeting with  Dr. Jeniri Amir lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and telling him. "if you are being attacked, would you just hold back and get chopped and hacked..?" Would you not do something about it? The present State administration must be seen to do something to protect the Chief Minister and all Generals and soldiers in any battle  would 'humanly possible' protect their COMMANDER IN CHIEF. You must watch the present series on how the Chinese did battle in the Three Kingdoms.
  • 3.  BN/Pakatan-Knowing the Truth..??"December 9, 2010 we wrote.  Today we told an english news editor,"Do you honestly think that BN will tell the opposition how they are going to fight their cyberwar? Where did you hear bout the MS10 million fund.It must have been spread through some blogs. It is speculation and rumour but it can be real. COULD IT…??

The Asajaya assemblyman and Chief Political secretary Karim Hamzah "scoffed at the notion that such information would even be leaked via the Internet. "Even though we have a strategy, we will keep it confidential. You don't reveal your trump card to your opponents," he said.

Asked how the posting could have come about, he replied cryptically: "What can we do? Now everyone can use the cyber world to dump in information."

Karim also said this which is REAL,""I have never spoken to Radio Free Sarawak before. (The radio station) is hopeless,"

So we ask you again please step one step backwards,

"ARE WE ALL FOOLS TO BELIEVE..?

This is the cardinal truth,"Everyone of us loves to be shown factual and truthful accounts. There are instances when some are put together to create a "perception"where it will captivate the audience and readers into believing what they read are nothing but the truth"

THANK YOU.

Consensual Incest – Atheists Please Tell Me Why It Is Morally Wrong

Posted: 21 Dec 2010 02:50 AM PST

WARNING: The following post contains very mature content. Parental discretion is advised (which is ironic considering what I am about to say).

Atheists, liberals, sexual progressives such as LGBT groups, and anyone else who disregards religion… Please answer the following query.

Why is incest – sexual acts between closely related family members – illegal?

Why do people recoil in disgust at the mere thought of it – even liberals and atheists?

What basis is there for moral relativists, who reject all traditional and religious taboos, to feel that incest is wrong?

You may try and quote that incest is akin to rape by one's closest, most trusted loved ones – but what about consensual sex?

You may try and quote the emotional immaturity of the participants – but what if they are both adults?

You may try and quote the imbalance of authority and influence between a parent and a child – but what if it is between two siblings of almost equal age?

You may try and quote the risk of genetic defects – but scientific research has shown that incestuous reproduction between first cousins has a genetic defect rate of around 1.7 to 2.8% extra - as low as that of an ordinary 40-year old woman having children. Are you going to ban middle-aged women from getting pregnant too?

And they could be two brothers or two sisters anyway, which precludes any incestuous pregnancy.

So I'll ask again – what basis do atheists, liberals and moral relativists have for the intolerance, bigotry and Dark Ages mentality they show when they denounce full blown, incestuous, unprotected anal intercourse between two adult brothers as 'gross'?

If you cannot give a satisfactory answer, then why is consensual incest still unlawful if acts such as homosexuality or even bestiality are now legal?

Why do you still cling to old-fashioned, outdated, archaic laws – which more progressive and tolerant groups are even now seeking to abolish?

What basis do you have for acting and thinking like such prudish, sexually intolerant fascists – like those religious bigots who think homosexuality is a sin in God's eyes?

Or do you admit that, deep down inside where you don't dare look, you are influenced by irrational and illogical religion-based taboos against incest?

After all, these upstanding progressives don't have a problem with it.

I await your answer, especially from my favourite atheist commentors. You know who you are.

M’sians have nothing to lose in Tenang

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:58 PM PST

From Jackson Ng, via e-mail

Malaysians, especially Johoreans in Tenang, have nothing to lose by giving their votes and the benefit of doubt to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the coming by-election.

For the die-hard or hardcore BN supporters or voters, I urge them to at least use the Tenang by-election to send a clear message to their leaders.

Stop the arrogance and show some sincerity in wanting a truly 1Malaysia or United Malaysia. Stop the racism.

This one seat – Tenang – will not alter the state government. It will mean nothing to the BN state government as they will continue to rule.

But a loss will wipe the cocky smiles of corrupt BN leaders, hopefully jolting them to their senses to start serving the rakyat faithfully and sincerely.

Hopefully, they will also see the folly of disrespecting the laws of the country, manipulating the administration with the powers bestowed on them by the rakyat.

Most of all, the rakyat must send a clear message to the BN that Malaysians don't want the country to be turned into another Myanmar-like authoritarian administration.

The voters in Tenang have the opportunity to tell BN to stop the rot or else. What have you got to lose?

To continue supporting two-faced BN leaders who preach 1Malaysia but sleep with Perkasa is nothing short of making fools out of discerning Malaysians.

Such leaders will continue their ways if Malaysians don't start sending the correct message. There are too many examples of how insincere the BN government is in serving the interests of the rakyat.

The best example that directly affects all Malaysians is the unabated price hikes. Why the need to hike prices of necessities while continuing to give billions-of-ringgit in subsidies to the Independent Power Producers (IPP) and toll concessionaires.

The IPPs and toll collectors are just filthy rich and the operators are BN cronies benefiting shamelessly from law-abiding taxpayers without losing a drop of sweat.

Malay rights group Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali has announced that the political pressure group will stay out of campaigning in the Tenang by-election in what is seen as an attempt not to jeopardise BN's chances among the Chinese voters there who form 38% of the electorate.

Ibrahim was quoted as saying: "Perkasa wants to remain neutral as an organisation. We have many Umno members. It is good for Perkasa to stay neutral."

If I believe what Ibrahim says, I also believe humans have evolved to grow wings to fly.

Perkasa has been vociferous about the need to keep Malay rights, upsetting Umno's allies in the BN and stoking fear that it could affect rather than improve their chances at the ballot box.

Asked how the Malay right-wing group could maintain its neutrality in the Tenang campaign, Ibrahim stressed that Perkasa members could only join the campaign trail in their capacity as Umno members or individuals.

Tell me about two-face politicians and double-headed snakes and their unreliability. Isn't this clear enough that a sizeable percentage of Malaysians are allowing themselves to be fooled at the expense of their democratic rights?

The PR convention in Penang unveiled a 10-point resolution which the BN will surely dismiss as rubbish or nonsense, just because it looks too good to be true for the rakyat.

But what have you got to lose, anyway, by giving the PR the benefit of doubt to rule at federal level and the chance to deliver its promises.

After all, if PR does not keep its promises, the rakyat can still give them the boot, and perhaps a viable Third Force may emerge.

If not, the rakyat can return the BN to power, and hopefully this time it will be sincere and consistent in both word and deed. That is what democracy is about. What have you got to lose?

One is known and the other, still unknown

From Marion Tharsis, via e-mail

I refer to an online news report recently entitled, 'Who is dangerous, Umno or PKR?' This is the same question, I have also asked myself while closely following the progress of the PKR's recent party elections.

The PKR party elections sprang a few surprises that has given me a completely new perspective of a party, growing in popularity at the expense of Umno but internally doing some of the same kind of 'cleansing', a common hallmark of Malaysian political scene.

It may seem to be a sort of mobilisation and consolidation to make the party stronger and better united to face the mounting pressures and insinuations thrown at them by the other side.

However, the perception it gives some people is that there exists a tight and formidable control against anyone who questions any discrepancy or wrong doing by the main office bearers.

Democracy is religiously preached by a politician at every given opportunity but what is actually put into practise in their own environment is total control and monopoly.

This is very reason why a party leadership remains in his or her secured position for as long as he or she sees fit and it is not necessarily the decision of the majority in the party.

PKR wants to portray itself as a multiracial party but fails miserably in its attempts to build a solid base to show its sincerity and concern for all Malaysians.

It is not so much of reflecting a racial composition in its leadership but one that truly works for the interests and well being of all Malaysians that betters most.

Umno is seen to rule with an iron fist both within its party and also the way it dictates and controls the other component parties that make up the BN.

Umno expects everyone to follow what it says without question or even a slightest murmur. Any constructive criticism or suggestion is viewed as either as a violation of one's racial or religious right and prerogative

PKR works hard to find its own identity that represents fairness and justice but it has to resolve its own internal crisis which became even more apparent with the recent party elections.

It has the makings of a new force to change the Malaysian political landscape and do away with the colonial flawed legacy, inherited by the founding fathers.

But it cannot work as a well-oiled machinery if the internal squabbles and complaints are not resolved or pushed under the carpet.

While Umno is not expected to shed its skin and will continue to play a game to appease and satisfy the majority race even though it is now becoming more difficult to preach the same old story or keep on playing the same old tune.

Umno must realise a change can be imminent and thus, need to approach the pressing issues in a more pragmatic manner rather than by show of force.

Umno's political style creates much more suspicion and ulterior intentions than before. Some view it as fighting for its survival due the  embarrassing show in the last general election.

But it could be an exertion of control and authority over everyone in light of increasing opposition to its dominant rule.

PKR knows very well what is expected of them and should work very hard to correct whatever damage it has done to its image. It is more a do or die situation for them with all the odds piled against them.

Umno tries to use fear and intimidation to win support while PKR uses a gentler approach to handle issues of national importance. In comparison, PKR looks to be more tolerant and understanding of the sentiments and needs of all Malaysians.

Umno has projected itself to be dangerous and inconsiderate in quite a number of ways with little regard to promote a Malaysian mentality.

However, it is quite early to judge PKR or what course it will pursue if given the mandate. Once in power, situations change and promises can be broken.

History: Are we condemned to repeat it?

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:56 PM PST

From Damian Denis, via e-mail

During school days my favourite lesson used to be History. I loved history because it was something you could imbibe as a story - a tale of how a Hindu prince from Indonesia sought refuge and founded Malacca.

A story on how Malaya gained independence without much bloodshed and how Sabah and Sarawak were coerced, cajoled and 'cheated' ino joining the Federation of Malaysia.

Today we are at a crossroad.

The debate is on Malaysian history for our school syllabus and it is not getting any better. In fact, there has been a lot of distrust in our Education Ministry on this issue.

Well, what can you say when the person in-charge of the said ministry is a racist bum who openly supports Perkasa.

Frankly, if we cannot decide what our history is even after 53 years journeying as a nation, then we have failed miserably to live as a nation which our forefathers has envisioned.

I believe history is about truth and sometimes telling the truth can be cruel especially to the powers that be. Can our politicians live up to scrutiny, especially for the sake of our young ones in school?

I doubt it. Simply because they have not been able to accommodate alternative views  which is contrary to their own skewed world view.

For example, take Mahathir. He was a person who could not tolerate any dissent during his administration.

So any view that is contrary his or his political party is considered seditious or dangerous and they are labeled as traitors, un-patriotic or whatever.

George Santayana once said: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

For the past 53 years this country has been repeating the sins of the same government without fail. From 1969 we have never truly learned from our tainted past. Why?

We have been conditioned to look at the dark side of our history. Till today our politicians have never failed to raise the specter of May 13 as a reminder to the non-Malays.

Sad to say after May 13, there were other racial riots e.g. in Kampung Medan in Selangor and in Kampung Rawa in Penang. Did we learn anything people?

We are people preferring to live in the past, hoping that the past could come and rescue us (read: Umno/BN).

We must go back to basics on what constitutes our nation's history and also not forget our colourful past during the time of Tunku till Hussein Onn.

Those were the good old days of national unity before Mahathir came into the picture.

As a country we need to reclaim our history from the hands of these BN politicians tainted by numerous scandals.

Should we entrust our national treasure to this bunch of goons? I fear that these daylight robbers are already getting an upper hand.

Let's wake up and make BN history once and for all!

Pembangkang Sarawak Melancarkan Video Menentang Abdul Taib Mahmud (ATM)

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 11:23 PM PST

The Sarawak opposition has launched a video on youtube attacking the Sarawak Chief Minister, Abdul Taib Mahmud. The video, entitled "harta berdarah" ("bloody wealth"), alleges that Taib has plundered the East Malaysian state's natural resources during his 30 years in power and calls for a radical change ("berubalah!") of government in the upcoming state election...

UM survey: Hard to swallow the results

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:55 PM PST

From Melton Kais, via facebook

Statistics do not lie if it is valid and reliable, but statistics from UM on PKR? Very doubtful, e.g. if you ask the Americans themselves whether Iran should be bombed, of course you will most probably get 90% them agreeing to it.

But if you do it here, do you think the result would be the same? Don't accept figures just because it is statistics.

House of shame

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 01:29 PM PST

'We all know what Parliament is, and we are all ashamed of it' - Robert Louis Stevenson

NEW The Dewan Rakyat is an august House where elected representatives debate and make laws for the good of the country. This is serious business: by their votes, the course of the nation's history can be altered for better or worse. By a single act of Parliament, a reprehensible bill can become the law of the land with dire consequences for the peace of the land. Conversely, the passage of a crucial bill can be lauded as a legislative milestone. But in parliamentary affairs, the one person who plays a decisive role is the Speaker. The Speaker must ensure the orderly flow of business with a sense of total impartiality. In recent times, the Dewan Rakyat Speaker was not a man of exemplary character when he oversaw the month-long proceedings. He has turned the citadel of democracy into a pantomime, with his bias and unprofessional conduct.

Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia is not an elected lawmaker nor is he a member of the ruling party. Logically, he should stay above the fray and allow the tide of the debate to ebb and flow. At the same time, he must keep watch on the Yang Berhormats to make certain they abide by the "parliamentary rules and traditions". It is Pandikar Amin's responsibility to shed light on all these rules with a sense of fair play. If a fracas breaks out, it is his duty to calm the storm and maintain order without fear or favour. More importantly, he must protect the rights of all members – Barisan Nasional as well as opposition – "including the right to freedom of speech". But on most counts, he has failed and failed miserably.

At every turn, Pandikar Amin was there to thwart the every move of the opposition to seek a just hearing. He was prompt to throw out those sitting on the other side without reason or rhyme. He acted as if he is lord and master of all he surveys and Parliament is just a plaything. When coming down hard on the opposition, he gave the impression that opposition lawmakers are an unruly bunch of hotheads who do not deserve to sit in the chamber. They should be ejected. He portrayed the other side as gentlemen of high honour and decorum. Pandikar Amin may be the big boss in the Dewan Raykat but he cut a sorry figure in the court of public opinion.

In the eyes of the people, the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat is seen as nothing more than mere clay in the hands of the government. He is pliable and can easily be moulded in every which way his paymaster chooses. He can be likened to a puppet dancing to the tune of the piper. Every step he makes is strictly in accordance with the wishes of the ruling political masters. His vow is not to protect the sanctity of parliamentary democracy, but that of the interests of the ruling elite. He acts with false bravado in every showdown with the opposition. Pandikar Amin may be a champion and a hero to the BN crowd, but to the people, he is a fraidy-cat who dares not beat an independent path.

Pandikar Amin presided over the suspension of four opposition MPs, sparking a placard protest in the House itself. There are two ways of looking at this episode. If you peer at it through a BN telescope, the big picture you get is one of ignominy: the opposition members were a disgraceful lot; they brought disgrace to the House and the country with their unruly behaviour. But if you put the affair under the public miscroscope, you get a detailed result: the Speaker himself had acted in a manner that made a mockery of the principles and practices of parliamentary democracy. Pandikar Amin was clearly acting in concert with the BN mob.

It is now left to the voters to decide how they want the Dewan Rakyat to look like in the next round. In 2008, they voted in a sizeable chunk of the opposition members and expect them to champion their cause. But the "sheriff" wearing the BN batch had frustrated their moves. The legitimate voice of the people is hardly heard simply because it comes from the other camp. It is always gagged and only the sound of the BN people and the "frogs" are given ample talk time. This has been the consistent disturbing trend in the Dewan Rakyat. The Speaker must take all the blame for conduct most inappropriate. The only way to restore dignity, honour and justice to the tarnished House and make the Speaker's chair an object of respect is through the ballot box. Parliamentary democracy can only thrive when the Speaker works for and not against the people's representatives.
