Berkorban atau dikorbankan - pilih salah satu

MCA menekan kita lagi.

'There must be a cause for a cause'.

Melainkan PM Dato Seri Mohd Najib.  Si Bibir Merah itu pasti bukan seorang perokok. Namun saya tahu ramai menteri yang merokok. Mereka merokok kerana 'tension'.

Sel sel otak mati satu persatu.

Posted: 05 Dec 2010 04:52 AM PST

S'gor appeals to king on regaining water control

Posted: 05 Dec 2010 01:21 AM PST

The Pakatan Rakyat-led Selangor government is seeking to rally support around its efforts to regain control and management over water in the state. Up against them are water concessionaire Syabas and the BN-led federal government, which signed contracts with Syabas and the previous Selangor government for the distribution of water in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. After a long and protracted tussle between the two sides, the Selangor government has taken recourse to seek the intervention of the country's ruler, the Yang DiPertuan Agong Mizan Zainal Abidin. A rally has been organised today wherehy participants will march from the National Mosque to Istana Negara, where they hope to submit the document to the Yang diPertuan Agong. www.malaysiakini.com

Trials of an estranged father ~ aches and pains of the dad's heart.

Posted: 05 Dec 2010 03:46 AM PST

Myself sharing my love with one of our nieces, Baby.

I seldom speak about my personal life. You know..about those who do mean a lot to me. Besides my wife, I do care a lot for my kids.

Stayed patiently being married for 14 long years before just for the sake of my son and  daughter. When things got too complicated between myself and their mom, I had no choice but to call it a day.

I gave up my rights to our home so that my children will not be of want. I gave up practically everything I ever had so that they will get to live. I did all that because I loved my kids more than anything else at that time in my life!

It's been almost 10 years now since I divorced their  mom. Remarried in 2002 and living a blissful life now with my darling wife. We may not be living a life filled with luxury but one thing for sure is that we live a blissful life filled with love. Free from angst and heartaches due to distrust and suspicions or abuse, either physically or those of the mental type. Alhamdulillah.

I have had contact with my son when he studied here in Selangor a couple of years back. Supported him with finances whenever he needed them. Only with my daughter have I not been able to reestablish contact since I last saw her in 2002.

Now, since she's studying in a local university, I do get messages from her every now and then but the rapport and love is just not there. The many years of living apart from each other has taken a toll on our relationship. She has been raised to hate her dad and I don't totally blame her.

How would she know how much this old man loves her and her brother? One doesn't expect a 9 year old child back then to be able to gauge as to the various reasons her father was forced to leave her and her brother in order to carry on living?

How would she know that she was being held ransom in order to force me to live a life devoid of love just for the sake of putting up a false front of an unhappy marriage with her mom?

I do not need to go into detail as to how miserable my life back then had been in trying to cope with an overly suspicious, constantly quarrelsome deranged spouse and yet remain there for the sake of my kids who meant the world to me?

Yet I do believe that those who were and are in the same circumstances that I found myself to be in back then can actually relate to what I am sharing aloud here in this never before outpouring of an estranged father who misses his beloved child very much to this day and yet can't get to be with her due to the daughter's vendetta against her dad!

Love can't be forced. This I know from my years of living my life and dealing with so many people and their own stories of living life, loved and unforeseen tragedies that whacked each and everyone of them to the core of their existence.

Many sought my counsel and advice not knowing that I too have my own fair share of heartaches and despair of losing contact with my son and daughter. I don't usually unload my miseries unto others save for a select few who have come to know and befriend me for who I really am and not for the larger than life kick ass blogger many perceive me to be?

I'm just as human as any other person out there but I have my own way of looking at things and how to deal with them? Yet when it comes to receiving some snide remarks from your own flesh and blood because you left her when she was just a little girl who needed her father so much then, you don't feel good in your heart.

As the saying goes, it takes a father to know how much it hurts when your beloved offspring shoots off her mouth like that where it is only you and her who know what's really going on?

I can choose to just put up a false front and emotional facade and pretend that she doesn't matter and just go on living my own life but the truth of the matter is that deep down inside of my heart, she's right there skewering me with the dagger of emotional guilt and making me suffer from missing her so much!

All I have of my recollection of her is her being the sweet little daughter of mine who meant the whole world to me but now, she's hitting out to me with words that cut away at my heart and seems to revel doing so.

Well, in case she's reading this, I just want her to know that I love her with all my heart and no matter what, she's my child, forever and ever.

She might think that it's cool for her to hurt her father with her words as she has been prone to doing lately but I just want her to know that her dad's a tough old dude and he's been through worse.

All I wish for her is to be safe and successful in all that she does and that she will be blessed in her life.

Ameen.

Brief Note on Water Rally

Posted: 05 Dec 2010 02:06 AM PST

Hardly able to write long blogposts nowadays :(

But I wanted to say perhaps just two main things about today.

Firstly, I must say that despite a hopeful start, I was very disappointed – if not particularly surprised – with the cops.

I can't say for sure if they did indeed promise us safe passage, but if they did, they certainly reneged.

The very worst was when we were at one point about to disperse.

Just after the speaker said we can now all disperse peacefully, the cops charged the crowd, and started firing the water cannons into the mosque compound.

WTF? are they so hungry for blood that they were like "Eh, they are trying to disperse, let's show power and crack some skulls before they leave peacefully"

>:(

As @youtiup put it: "In advanced countries, police help to make sure your demo is orderly, safe. Over here, well, we aren't 3rd world for no reason."

Haihz.

Anyway, the other thing:

Seeing the range of Malaysians gathered today to protest cronyism and corruption of the highest order was really heartening.

I saw old people, young people, Malays, Chinese, Indians and who knows what else – a true cross section of society that has had enough of Syabas, piratisation and the rot of corruption.

Seeing them together, united to try and give back to the people what is rightfully theirs truly gives me hope for Malaysia.

For them and for our children, kita teruskan perjuangan!

Anwar’s one-man show didn’t consult Pakatan partners

Do please remember that the Malay heartland is only largely exposed to the Malay media, and the English media is alien to many, if not the English language itself. What impression will Pak Su and Cik Som get from the recent political goings-on?

One, that first the wifey, then the hubby syok sendiri.

We know how that panned out when adoring wife Wan Azizah told Malaysians that Anwar was "God's gift" to the country.

At the same time, Anwar told the Chinese electorate that he would appoint Kit Siang as DPM when Pakatan gets to Putrajaya. Anwar revealed his master plan to Sin Chew Daily on Nov 26. It was his interview with the paper in conjunction with PKR's annual national congress and the Sin Chew headline read, 'Kit Siang will be deputy if I become PM' [says Anwar].

So ironic that the Anwaristas mocked Zaid as a "loose cannon". Look at at the mayhem that Anwar's loose mouth let loose …Read more http://hartalmsm.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/anwars-one-man-show-didnt-consult-pakatan-partners/

Encounter with an illegitimate UMNO President not elected by the umno at Barisan convention of POLITICAL PROSTITUTES , bastardised mainstream media

IS NAJIB A BASTARD NOT TUN RAZAK SON

I have a short wishlist of stuff I would like you to find us answers for – stuff I don't think we'll ever get to know about any other way. Here it goes:1921 was, however, a time for reflection. From his rural arcadia, Rabindranath Tagore detected "a spirit of persecution, which is not that of British or Malay Sultans but something still more alarming because it is invisible… The sight that met my eye was, on the one hand, people immensely busy; on the other intensely afraid."

"RESPECT CONSTITUTION" screamed the New Sunday Times front page. There is really no need for the "Malay rulers" to have undue misgivings about their humble subjects occasionally dipping into the Constitution and questioning some aspect or other they do not fully understand.

Common, ordinary people like me are not Constitutional experts, unlike at least one of their Highnesses. Fear us not because we are not thinking even remotely of storming the Bastille. Such an unworthy thought has never crossed our minds, and certainly not mine.

Najib You amaze us by pulling off stuff that your government isn't too keen to let us, or anyone else, see. Our governments over the years have been much, much smarter at not letting us as much as get a whiff of things they'd rather lock up in that smart safe. So smart, in fact, that we sooner or later forget what we were fighting to get info about in the first place.

IBRAHIM ALI KURANG AJAR

Senator Tunku A Aziz as early as 2Nov 2010 touched on this:"I can understand the rulers' unease and apprehension after what Mahathir did to denigrate and run their institution into the ground, spewing filthy lies and uncharitable innuendoes against them individually and collectively. And, generally, he succeeded in causing public disaffection. Why was he not charged?

The rulers seemed, at that time, to have accepted Mahathir's lese majeste without a murmur and UMNO, now their avowed protectors, went along with, and did nothing to restrain, Mahathir's megalomaniac excesses against their own rulers."–Tunku A. Aziz

• What was the internal communication within the British and the Sultans to gained our independence years of colonization, and a culture as old as ours, a quiet, monastic sort of state was overrun by UMNO without much noise from us, though we accepted those who fled from it. What did the Government think about it? Principles apart, did it not foresee that this redrawing of borders by the aggressive dragon would impact us for decades to come? How did we keep and selling ketuanan Melayu to the people?

But are Chin Peng and Lee Kuan Yew mentioned in this context? They were significant players in the creation of Malaya and later, Malaysia. What we read is about Umno this and Umno that. We are told that Malaya gained independence and Malaysia was later created because of Umno.We want our Rulers to identify themselves with all Malaysians and for all Malaysians to accept that our Rulers are their Rulers as well and, in this way hope that they will learn to embrace and understand the system employed in governing this, their country.

And I can go on TUN…but I think that is enough for now. This is just another way of looking at how things really were under YOUR rule. You are entitled to your opinion and so am I. The proof is in the pudding. The 13th general elections will be your final political curtain. The 12th general election was your Waterloo – it already cemented your place in Malaysian Political history – it is a lesson learned – all future political parties in Malaysia would ensure that there would NEVER be the possibility of another Mahathir!

  • A Mahathir that will stay beyond his use by date!
  • A Mahathir who believed that any means could be used in as long as it justifies the ends as he saw it – not for the good of the nation but for the purpose of keeping this Mahathir in power forever and ever!
  • A Mahathir that used any means at his disposal to divide and rule not only his own UMNO party and his Barisan Nasional partners but also his own Malay race and the people of Malaysia.
  • And a Mahathir shrewd enough to know that he would rather have Ministers who were corrupt and weak of the flesh in his cabinet because it would be so much easier for him to have them at his beck and call.

mahathir TUN, it is time YOU looked within yourself and see yourself for what YOU really are. A mean old man who thinks the whole of Malaysia owes you a living!READMORE YOU need to take responsibility for what UMNO and BN has now become – a feeble political organization riddle with money politics, greed and arrogance incapable of winning power in the 13th general election. And when the 13th general election is done…so will you be. -"steadyaku47″

The concern may well stem from a personal proximity to the epicentre of the earthquake rocking politics, business and the media — all pillars of the Malaysian establishment. For the past decade, the country has been shaken by scam fever: the outcry over the false charges against Anwar, followed in quick succession by the PKFZ scandal, the KTM land scams and the Submarime loot. Simultaneously, there were the infamous deepthrot conversations, which (to borrow a British MP`s observation on WikiLeaks) have redefined "public interest" to mean "the public is interested."

Malaysia were simply experiencing a turbulent bout of ethical cleansing, excitement would have been coupled with gleeful endorsement. For some time, citizens have agonize occupying the twilight zone between a banana republic and a mafia state. To that extent, all moves to stem the decline and purify the system need strong encouragement, even if enthusiasm is couched in understandable cynicism.

Tragically, apart from hitting some targets the scam season has inflicted serious collateral damage and vitiated the atmosphere. TheLINGAMGATE tapes may have provided immense voyeuristic pleasure to those unfamiliar with and, perhaps, even envious of the cozy smugness that defines an incestuous establishment and those on its periphery. But initial inquisitiveness has quickly given way to a vengeful iconoclasm based on the facile assumption that MALAYSIA`s entire wealth-generation process is centred on cronyism and corruption. It is understandable whenTheLINGAMGATE deduces from the tapes that the "state has been corporatized" and that thanks to big money the institutions of "this so-called democracy", including the judiciary, are "being hollowed out." It is also predictable that voices of post-colonial condescension in the West should celebrate "the rotting of new ONE MALAYSIA" What isn't clear is why MALAYSIA`s middle class should throw its moral weight behind this carpet-bombing exercise.

What TheLINGAMGATE indicated was not a single-minded desire of corporates to subvert every institution but their gritty determination to overcome a difficult, if not hostile, business environment. The cronyism that underpinned the government It stemmed from the enormous discretionary powers enjoyed by a minister and a departmental autonomy that flowed out of the compulsions of coalition politics. Pelan Ekonomi Najib: “Kroni Didahulukan. Rakyat Dibebankan”

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 08:39 PM PST

Anwar: Why no subsidy cuts for corporate giants?
De facto opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has lambasted the government for the price hikes on fuel and sugar announced yesterday evening going after "small change" from the lower income group "when similar zeal is not shown vis-a-vis the rich corporate giants".

He said a similar phased removal of subsidies for "wealthy independent power producers (IPPs) owned by business elites and cronies of Barisan Nasional" was part of Pemandu's plan.

"Amazingly, the only hikes implemented so far are on those items that hit directly on the people's purse; not the cronies," said Anwar (right).

According to the opposition leader, Pemandu has estimated that RM1.12 billion could be saved in 2010 if subsidies on gas price to IPPs and non-power sectors are reduced.

This could have been achieved if gas price to IPP and the non-power sector is increased by RM4.65 per mmbtu and RM2.52 per mmbtu respectively, he explained.

He revealed that the government through Petronas currently subsidises the IPPs and industries to the tune of RM19 billion annually, as the subsidised gas price of RM10.70 per mmbtu (for IPPs) is remarkably lower than the average market price of imported gas of RM38 per mmbtu (should the country need to import the gas to meet the demand against a shortfall in production).

Anwar called for Prime Minister Najib Razakb (left) to explain why he was targetting the subsidy cuts at the rakyat rather than the industry.

"This is more so when nothing has been done so far (despite promises after promises) to reform the subsidy allocation system.

"This is pivotal to ensure that the lower income group will continue to benefit from state assistance to counter the rising cost of living.

"Pemandu seems to be extremely efficient at pushing for the subsidy removal; yet extremely slow at coming out with a solution to redistribute the subsidies that are meant for the poor," said Anwar.

"It chases the small change in the form of subsidy removal on household items most widely used by the people, yet it procrastinates on confronting the real subsidy monsters (in the form of the IPPs)."

Paying for BN's 'carefree spending'

He also blamed the BN government for it's "carefree spending in the last decade" having contributed to the necessity for subsidy cuts to ease the national deficit.

"In the end, the RM126 million saved from the 16 July's 20 sen hike on sugar is not even enough to pay for Pemandu's own exorbitant cost as reported by Malaysiakini," said Anwar.

"Where is the moral authority of a government that takes RM126 million from the poor to pay RM66 million to consultants for the set up of a government unit and another RM65 million for its whole operation in 2010?

"Hence, I take the recent announcement on NEM with a pinch of salt," he said, adding that the BN "will continue to hoodwink the public" on the so-called transformation of the public sector when it was really just paying the "new breed of civil servants in Pemandu top of the range salaries that will easily beat the private sector".

He also rubbished the NEM's promotion of liberalisation and deregulation as lacking in "honesty" of execution, citing how YTL was allegedly awarded the 700 MHz TV spectrum broadcasting band without an open tender.

"This is not surprising as the whole machination of this administration is based on the perpetuation of a public image crafted by firms of public relations that are paid by the taxpayers' money – with the sole intention of buying Barisan Nasional additional time before the people cast their judgement," he said.

He warned that further price hikes can be expected as "the originally proposed quantum of price hike was at 10 sen per price hike for every 6 months."

Adding that if the BN administration was not checked, "...we are definitely en route to paying a fuel price at RM2.10 litre within a year's time."

The curious case of ET contactee Billy Meier

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 10:34 AM PST

By Stanley Koh

COMMENT Those who know of Billy Eduard Albert Meier's claims of being in contact with extraterrestrial beings will either condemn him as one of history's biggest frauds or hail him as a prophet, accepting as true the volumes of information available in YouTube clips and the numerous blogs maintained by his believers.

"There is really nothing in between" the truth and the hoax, says believer Michael Horn, who maintains a blog at www.theyfly.com.

Horn claims to be Meier's authorised American media representative.

In 1978, an American team of investigators led by Colonel Wendelle Stevens took more than 10 months analysing witness accounts, photographs, video clips, sound recordings, landing tracks that Meier said were made by flying saucers and even samples of the metallic substance the crafts were allegedly made of. The photos included images of the UFOs in flight.

It was a tedious task involving many experts. They examined alleged records of hundreds of hours of conversation that Meier said he had with the Pleiadians, humanoids from a star system called Pleiades. The Pleiadians are sometimes called Plejarens.

Stevens's team took the evidence to the United States for professional scrutiny by independent experts representing various disciplines. Meier and his delegate of witnesses were even subjected to lie-detector tests.

UFO enthusiasts claim that the US government has a vast amount of information on the Meier case. Some have said that the government at one time bought a piece of property adjacent to his farmhouse in Switzerland to enable 24-hour monitoring of the Plejarens visiting him.

Meier's detractors can sometimes go to extremes. There were 21 attempted assassinations against his life between Sept 23, 1964 and June 2, 2003.

Meier maintains what he calls "contact notes" of his conversations with the aliens. These began in 1942 and continue to this day, with some long lapses in between.

Contact notes

The abundance of prophetically accurate information, independent corroboration of accuracy and absence of erroneous information pertaining to the future of mankind and Planet Earth have made the case one of the most exciting but suppressed stories in modern history.

The contact notes contain not only the Plejarens' spiritual teachings and information about the history of human civilizations, but also, according to believers, but the key to mankind's survival on Planet Earth.

Initially, Meier's revelation of his contacts with the aliens raised many pertinent questions. Why are the Plejarens so eager to help earthlings? What made them choose Meier as their contact?

According to Contact Note 340, Meier's "spirit-form" has links with the ancestors of the Plejarens. Being advanced spiritually, those ancestors had a close relationship with earthlings until more than 60,000 years ago.

According to Meier, the Plejarens and earthlings have a common ancestry and they look like us. Their forefathers—and ours—originated from the Lyra-Vega Star Systems, and these distant cousins of ours have been visiting Earth sporadically for the past 28 million years.

Those ancestors have influenced the Earth's development positively and negatively throughout the ages.

Sometimes, the negative influences brought disastrous consequences. The Plejarens now feel responsible for the actions of the ancestors and their intention is to give advice without directly interfering in human affairs. They want to help us rediscover our true spiritual path.

According to Meier's notes, the home world of his Plejaren visitors is called Erra, a planet almost as large as Earth but in a physical dimension that is shifted a fraction of a second ahead of our space-time configuration. It is about 500 light years away.

Meier says he was 10 when he had his first contact with the Plejarens. But the "official" contacts—meaning the evidence that can be made public—began in 1975, when he was a young man travelling through Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India.

His wandering gave him the opportunity to study major religions and to meet political leaders, including Indira Gandhi, King Farouk, Nasser, Nehru and Tito.

His transcription of conversations with the Plejarens, mostly done in German, runs into more than 24,000 pages. Among the information given in those pages are accounts from the history of existence in the universe, dating back tens of millions of years.

Not as intelligent enough

Perhaps the most astonishing parts of the transcriptions are predictions about world events and developments that believers say Meier published in 1958. These foretold, among other things, the US invasion of Iraq, global warming, invention of cell phones, the Internet, the rise of terrorism and the AIDs epidemic.

Some say that Meier's case increased the alertness of not only UFO enthusiasts but also mainstream scientists and world governments with regard to UFO sightings; it has finally dawned on them that humans are not the only intelligent beings in the millions of galaxies in this vast universe.

On the flip side, however, the phenomenon has encouraged charlatans to claim that they have been contacted by extraterrestrial beings and to concoct alien abductions and animal mutilations.

Horn, in his commentary on "Contact Note 441", said, "Meier's message on alleged abductions by aliens contains extremely important information for all those who are wrapped up in pointlessly chasing their tails about the 'government's cover-up', alien abductions, evil aliens, animal mutilation etc.

"The actual nature of this complex situation is rooted in power hungry, purely terrestrial groups who can profit greatly from the hysteria, confusion, fear that they foment behind the scenes, and which is, also, knowingly or not, perpetuated by overzealous, under informed UFO groups and by painfully gullible New Agers who lack discernment, critical thinking and reasoning abilities.

"The truth or real UFO cover up is on the Billy Meier case. Some of the biggest opponents to this truth are the various 'experts' within the so-called UFO community."

Meier's published notes include the claim that there exists a well thought out psychological network to generate fear, angst, terror, hatred and feelings of revenge against extraterrestrial aliens. He speaks of a vast international conspiracy to conceal the truth about these aliens with the help of terrestrial military anti-gravity vehicles.

"Wrong information and falsified pictures of alleged ET flying devices are strategically circulated worldwide, whereby 98 per cent of all false pictures, films and videos are directed at moving the Earth humans to engender hate and thoughts of revenge against all life foreign to Earth," said Meier, quoting a Plejaren by the name of Ptaah.

WHEN EXTENDING LIFE MEANS PROLONGING DEATH

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 07:33 PM PST

Death remains very much a taboo subject. Everyone faces death sooner or later, yet no one wants to broach the subject, even when death is knocking on the front door.

Blessed are those who live to a ripe old age, who quietly make their exit in their sleep with a smile on their face. As my 85-year old mother loves to put it, "they have gone on a world cruise with no return date".

But for many others dying is a long painful process where the quality of life is almost non-existent, and death offers a welcome release. I have seen family members in their final days hooked up to all kinds of machines, consumed by pain and barely conscious. It is a heart-breaking sight. And it begs the question - how far would you go to sustain the life of someone you love?

There are no easy answers.

The video posted here examines the question from various perspectives. It is taken from FRONTLINE: FACING DEATH and comes in five parts. Viewing time is 54 minutes in total. Do watch it and share it with your friends and family members. It will help us make an informed decision when the time comes.

Sleeping with your employee

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 07:22 PM PST

When one sleeps with an employee one not only breaches an important principle of ethical relationships but one becomes an interested party to the other's affairs and actions (by commission or omission) of the employee. From there, the spiral downwards grows more precipitous, more so when the employee becomes out of control.

This has been the relationship between UMNO and the Royal Malaysian Police. We have witnessed how previous IGPs could dare threaten a PM or act in recalcitrant fashion to the PM's instructions when these weren't to the Police liking.

The PM and and especially the Home Minister, both through complicit unethical relationships with the Police, have efffectively lost their powers to question, reprimand or sack the IGPs. They were instead forced to protect the IGPs.

This has also been the principal reason why the Police have never been properly investigated for unexplained deaths in police custody. In 2007 I posted the
Most Dangerous Place in Malaysia when I mentioned:

Tan Sri Siti Norma Yaakob, the Chief Judge of Malaya, has expressed her deep concerns that 80 deaths in police custody occurred between January 2000 and December 2004 – that's an average of 20 people dying per annum while in police custody, or almost a frightening 2 per month for 4 continuous years - but only 6 inquests, less than 10% of the deaths, were even held.

The Chief Judge has been troubled that in some instances, deaths occurred hours after detention. As an example, mechanic Alias Othman was detained at 10 pm on March 22 allegedly for causing a disturbance at a mosque in Bachok, Kelantan, but just a mere 5 hours later, he was very very dead. Siti Norma wants answers why so many people had died under such circumstances.

She demanded to know why police had seen it fit to decide that inquests were unnecessary in 22 cases of such deaths. ... In fact, the Criminal Procedure Code specifically makes it mandatory to have inquests into deaths under police custody.

Yet the IGP has not addressed this unacceptable omission, a violation of the Criminal Procedure Code. The IGP must be held responsible and accountable for his failure.

The IGP never was. See what I meant about sleeping with an employee?

Continuing with my previous post - Two years later we have a similar tragedy, the murder of A Kugan while in police custody.

In the midst of alleged police criminal act, with no less than the Attorney-General, Gani Patail classifying Kugan's death as murder, Malaysiakini reported in its
Syed Hamid: Don't see criminals as heroes, cops as demons that the Home Minister had alluded to Kugan as a criminal.

Yes, Syed Hamid had the brazen cheek to contrast the late (murdered) Kugan as a criminal against the police (accused of causing his death) as heroes.

And trust the Home Minister not to understand that a man is innocent until proven guilty.

Wasn't his automatic defence of the police not unlike that of Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, the current Home Minister? It has been a very noticeable but unjustified trend by Police Ministers.

Continuing - De facto Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang was humongously incensed (and we share with him his outrage) at the shameless mindless insensible police minister in attempting to ameliorate the terrible circumstances leading to a death in police custody, which the normally recalcitrant AG had even been moved to officially classify as a murder.

In Malaysiakini
Something wrong about Syed Hamid Lim blasted the Minister: "Malaysians, like people all over the world, do not regard criminals as heroes and the police as demons."

"But when a minister responsible for the police makes a shocking statement of this nature, it reflects that something has gone very wrong both with the police force and the home minister with regard to the most basic of government duties – to keep the people safe and to uphold law and order."

Then Lim said what I told a sweetie last night: "Even if Kugan was guilty of the crimes alleged, the police cannot take the law into its own hands and continue to pile up the shocking statistics of deaths in police custody."

Remember poor Francis Udayappan whom I blogged in
Was Udayappan Beheaded After His Death? some two years ago?

He too died in police custody (notwithstanding police excuse that he had died while escaping).

On April 2008 I also blogged on
Secret executions in Malaysia? where I commented:

… though I agree with the deputy IGP that technically there had been no secret executions, there were nonetheless killings in police custody.

What had occurred with some very very unfortunate people, particularly Indians, had been the suspected (maybe unintended but nonetheless terrible) manslaughter or even murder of several whilst they were brutalized in police custody.

And these horrendous alleged police killings are publicly known to be a frightening 80 people in a period of just over four years.

The RMP interrogators have a notoriety of beating up suspects severely and brutally, leading to a couple of deaths. That's police draconian f*ups which would then be allegedly covered up by the police and their professional associates.

However these deaths in police custody are openly known and have been alleged by many as acts of police murders, which are yet to be satisfactorily resolved.

We most certainly need the IPCMC, but please, not a watered down version. Malaysiakini has reported on this issue several times over.

Well, Malaysia Insider reported in
A mother shares Kugan family grief that Francis Udayappan's mum, Sara Lily George attended Kugan's funeral.

Francis Udayappan was only 23 when he died in police custody, whilst Ananthan Kugan was just a mere 22.

For Sara, it has been the most painful déjà vu to see yet another young man needlessly and criminally murdered in the
Most Dangerous Place in Malaysia.

Thus it's hardly surprising that Hishamuddin (and indeed, previous Home Ministers) would leap to the defence of the Police when reports critical of police conduct were raised, like the 17-fold increase in fatal police shooting since 2001.

Several other factors have contributed to this state of unhealthy relationship between UMNO Police Ministers and the Police, namely, the Asian attitude of 'not breaking the rice bowls of orang kita', and the increasing crime rates due to increasing police incompetence and unprofessionalism with a propensity to shoot recklessly (recent fatal examples: 14-year old Aminulrasyid and the Chinese noodles seller) and/or a casual callous and criminal attitude towards anyone considered a 'suspect'.

Removing the last IGP, though far too long overdue, was nonetheless a reasonable start, but it's not good enough. Firstly, no not the IPCMC yet, we need to purge the top echelon of the Police Force. Get rid of at least two top layers, with a promise or threat of more to go if the situation doesn't improve. Then and only then, establish the IPCMC. Also establish an office of Police Ombudsmen in every state to allow for complaints against police to be heard at a venue independent of the authority.

However, I do not support the decentralization of the police force to state control. Haven't we witnessed what have happened in Perak? If we have, how could we further enhance such questionable state misuse of the police? Places which have police under state control as in Australia and the USA have not seen the state police forces behave any better. In some cases, they're likely to be more corrupt. In Australia, it's known that the federal police force is the least corrupt and the most professional.

What we need are a strong PM and a strong Home Minister to tame the ferocious beast in blue that has been allowed to escape the oversight of and control by the political masters, the people's representative. We cannot condone, let alone promote, a pagar makan padi situation. That brilliant Malay saying in itself provides a picture of a very clear and present danger, a succinct and ominous warning, one which has already come true more than once.

Ironically, PMs Tunku and Razak's strategy to prevent Malaysia from becoming a country ruled by a military junta, like most of its SE Asian neighbours, was by neutralising (or keeping in check) the power and threat of the Malaysian Armed Forces with a near equivalent power in the Police, in the formidable paramilitary Police Field Force and the once-inimitable Special Branch.

It's ironical because today, for the PM and Home Minister to regain their control of what is basically a runaway police force, it may be necessary for the cabinet to use the armed forces, or threat of its use, to neutralize any recalcitrant or mutinous police reaction to the political attempt to regain rightful control and oversight.

Don't imagine for one second that the police aren't capable of mutinous intent because we had witnessed a previous IGP (not the last one) threatening the AAB-UMNO government that the police might not support the BN in the 12th election if the IPCMC was established, and even briefly flirted with PAS to intimidate UMNO.

The Police supporting UMNO in an election was outright and arrogant political declaration and a brazen violation of the police code of conduct (not that the IGP cared anyway), while flirting with another political party showed the IGP's recalcitrance and continued defiance.

At a lower level, we have also witnessed the last IGP threatening to let crime rates soar, and then at a subsequent occasion, to pull his men off the streets, when the police was criticised.

Alas, both IGPs were not sacked right there and then with the full force of the cabinet as they deserved. But then, how to when UMNO leaders were in bed with the police leaders?

Harap Najib tidak menjadi pembawa dalil hari kiamat.

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 05:32 PM PST

Biar kita berkelahi dahulu. Jangan pula 'rumah siap pahat berbunyi'.
