Does this mean that we Malaysians are so incapable that we need Stupid Idiots ! who the fuck are this guys haris ibrahim, bernad khoo and raja petra select to tell us how to live our lives?
Are we so dependent that all aspects of our lives need to be controlled?
Are we so handicapped that we need these political dynasties to teach how to interact with each other?

Muhyiddin: Unforgivable for Zaid to be at PKR meet

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's presence at the PKR congress on Saturday in Shah Alam is unforgivable, says an Umno vice-president.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it did not make sense for the former minister in the Prime Minister's Department to attend an opposition gathering.

"It appears he is lending his moral support to them. To me, this is showing disloyalty to Umno. This is unforgivable," he said.

The International Trade and Industry Minister said this yesterday after a dialogue with members of the Sabah media here yesterday.

Muhyiddin noted that it was not the first time Zaid was perceived as acting against Umno, adding that the controversial politician was issued a show-cause letter last month for his open letter to the Prime Minister and for meeting with MPs on repealing the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Asked whether Zaid's latest move was an attempt to provoke Umno, Muhyiddin said: "He's a small guy … he is just wasting our time."

So many of you have expressed concerns that the third force that I and others speak of will work in BN's favour.

The thirdforce cartel think tanks have gone bonkers.masterwordsmith-unplugged's paranoid threat preception So
Sometimes alliance parties find it convenient to simulate conflict, but this is public posturing to satisfy populist opinion before an election. Raja Petra and Harris Ibrahim are the new templates of posture-politics.

A third force will cause three-corner contests in the next GE, delivering the seat to BN, some of you fear.

A third force will dilute the strength of Pakatan, one or two have suggested.

I have tried to allay those concerns in an earlier post, 'Do we go with a third force? Let me walk you through this', but I appear to have failed.

Maybe RPK can put your fears to rest.

Umno is beginning to look better than PKR

Why is RPK acting so out of character?

Thursday, 14 October 2010

YL Chong, Malaysia Chronicle

Prominent blogger now in exile in the United Kingdom Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) caught this writer by surprise with an overly critical reaction to Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah's failure to obtain at least two nominations to contest the party's deputy presidency. My commentary here is not to go into the "technicalities" involved in the nominations process, but to focus on RPK's uncharacteristic reactions for someone sympathetic to the only viable alternative coalition led by PKR to replace the BN government.

chua-pkr-4.png

Feeling jubilant at Chua's decision to join the party, he quoted philosopher Edmund Berg as saying that "it is the triumph of evil when good men and women do nothing."

Anwar told Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that "enough is enough."

"No more mysterious and dubious deaths. No more taking money from the people and enriching the few".

Some PKR leaders appear to behave more like ex-Umno/MCA/MIC politicians. But then again, that's not surprising because many of them ARE former Umno/MCA/MIC politicians! In fact, PKR is in danger of becoming BN Lite — athough there are a fair number of politicians who remain idealistic and committed to the cause. But will they be able to stand up to the culture of realpolitik now spreading across the party?

To Rais and Rocky: Shake hands!

Posted: 13 Oct 2010 12:31 PM PDT

After considering its adverse implication on those involved - Rais, Rocky and the government - let me suggest a simple solution: shake hands and get back to work. I also realise that my previous posting which called for pro-govt bloggers to stay away from Galas and Batu Sapi by-elections (here) was a bit overboard and made things worse.

If both parties agree, they should meet up soon. After all, Rocky is the adviser of Bernama TV which comes under Rais ministry.

We can understand why the minister lost his balance after reading Rocky's Bru posting about the possibility of Rais son being awarded a telco contract recently. Well, Rais got every reason to be furious while as a blogger, Rocky was just putting up the questions without accusing the minister of anything.

Rais could have made the police report against Rocky out of his anger but as the repercussion turned unpleasant, I think the minister is a bit sober by now to notice the ugly side of such an action.

So, I think Bukit Aman should return Rocky's notebook and modem. Similarly, the MCMC should cease its investigation before things get uglier as it would be bad not only for both parties but also for the government.

After a discussion with pro-govt bloggers a few hours ago, and after Big Dog related what Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said earlier in the day, I hereby declare my full support towards Rais-Rocky 'reconciliation'.

We got more important things to attend to as a team. To err is human. So, let us put the ugly episode behind.

I hope Rais and Rocky agree... and I also believe my fellow-bloggers would like to see it settled.

Rocky! saudara tidak kesaorangan bro!

Posted: 13 Oct 2010 03:36 PM PDT

Rais ialah seorang 'very good servant but a bad master'.

Rocky, sadara bukan kesaorangan. Ramai yang akan bersama saudara menghadapi isu yang saudara alami sekarang.

Do you truly know Zaid Ibrahim?

Posted: 13 Oct 2010 05:37 AM PDT

Malaysiakini - No 2 race: Zaid outlines seven requests.

Zaid Ibrahim's requests to the PKR election committee chief, Dr Molly Cheah, were directly related to the party's election procedures such as:

- transparent ballot boxes
- ballot slips with serial numbers
- candidates may appoint their own polling and counting agents
- agents are required to sign voting result slips
- proper electoral roll be prepared to ensure that the electoral list held by the candidates tallied with those of the election committee.
- voting time strictly adhered to - election officers cannot shorten or extend voting time
- new members who renewed their membership during voting day should be allowed into the electoral roll

Can anyone see anything sinister in his requests? Au contraire, they appear to be all for greater transparency, accountability and integrity of an election process.

Presumably if the PKR election committee refuses his reasonable and excellent requests, and questions will certainly be raised as to why they would deny these transparent and accountable procedures, Zaid Ibrahim will withdraw from the contest.

He would then be on high moral grounds to claim that the committee does not intend to be fair, transparent or accountable, as was raised in accusations against the recent party division elections where some candidates were denied access to the counting process, which if true, would be a damning indictment on the integrity of the PKR divisional polls.

At this stage I am not sure whether Zaid is manoeuvring for a face saving exit from the contest for No 2, or he really wants to be treated fairly in the party polls as he reckons he has a chance.

If the party election committee fails to accept Zaid's reasonable requests, then even for non PKR observers it will be clear there is indeed mischief afoot.

I have also not been impressed by Azmin Ali's advice to Nurul that 'people' would question her participation in the contest for the party's deputy presidency, nor his exclaimed surprise and whining at Khalid Ibrahim's entry into the tussle for the party's No 2 post. Didn't he undermine Khalid's position as the Selangor MB?

Does Azmin believe his candidature should not be challenged as he is the anointed heir to the PKR throne, bestowed by his godfather?

It doesn't help when there had been badmouthing conducted (by whom???) against Zaid Ibrahim in the notorious mode of "20 dalils kenapa Zaid tidak boleh menjadi ..." in the early stages of the campaign.

There are currently accusations against Zaid that he's from UMNO and probably a mole out for mischief and disruption, but have these accusers forgotten that Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin too were from UMNO? But OK, yes, there are differences between them.

The differences are that Anwar was expelled and Azmin followed suit, while Zaid was a senator and full minister who resigned on his own dignified terms.

Zaid had on assuming his ministerial post bravely called for the government to extend a public apology for its shameful handling of the 1988 Judicial Crisis, which ended up in the sacking of the then Lord President of the Supreme Court, Tun Salleh Abas.

From Wikipedia, Zaid stated: "In the eyes of the world, the judicial crisis has weakened our judiciary system." However, he rejected the idea of reviewing the decision: "I am not suggesting that we re-open the case. I am saying that it's clear to everyone, to the world, that serious transgressions had been committed by the previous administration. And I believe that the prime minister is big enough and man enough to say that we had done wrong to these people and we are sorry." […]

Just in case you guys have forgotten, Wikipedia said Zaid is known for his criticism of the government's handling of legal issues such as the judiciary, human rights and Islamic law. He supported the establishment of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Lingam Video Clip, criticising the government's initial response to the clip, which allegedly revealed fixing of judicial decisions and graft in the judiciary. [...]

Zaid Ibrahim urged the Yang di-Pertuan Agong not to appoint Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Prime Minister of Malaysia, and instead appoint someone else from UMNO. He pointed out Najib has been linked on the internet and by political rivals to the brutal murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu. Zaid also cited the RM400 million in commissions reportedly paid by the Defence Ministry while Najib was minister for the procurement of submarines, and pointed out that Abdul Razak Baginda, Najib's friend, was an agent in the deal. […]

One of the anti-Zaid sneering complaints has been his loose cannon behaviour, and as the above paragraphs evidently demonstrated his loose cannon stand as an UMNO minister against the UMNO-led government, then quite frankly I am all for more of his loose cannon-ness.

Then, he showed his moral superiority and statesmanship over Anwar and Azmin when he voluntarily resigned from his ministerial position over the questionable ISA detention of DAP's Teresa Kok, Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK), and journalist Tan Hoon Cheng.

OTOH, Anwar as an UMNO minister (in various ministries) had never stood up for anything on moralistic or principled grounds of the magnitude exhibited by Zaid. Anwar miraculously became a reformer overnight ONLY AFTER he was booted out from his once formidable position in the establishment.

I have never disguised my lack of respect for or belief in his so-called reformasi, and I was proven right when he reverted to his UMNO frog hunting days in the sordid scandalous shameful 916 episode.

OK, so Anwar has changed as many would vow, but then why is Zaid with far greater (and demonstrated) moral principles is considered as dodgy and untrustworthy?

And let's not even bring chico Azmin Ali into comparison because he has owed his entire limited reputation as PKR leader on only one reason, his closeness to the 'Great One'.

The campaign against Zaid has been dirty and typical of those seen during UMNO internal party election campaigns. At the risk of overusing a cliché there's truth that one can take some people out of UMNO but one can't take UMNO out of them.

As someone who has worked closely with Rockybru in organising bloggers events like BUM2010 (REF: bum4msia.wordpress.com), I find this fellow newshound pleasant company though often we sit on opposite sides of the political divide. Well grounded on the ethos of "We learn to be agreeable in our disagreement" of that famous maxim by Voltaire (You recite eh!:), there is soem misperception of Datuk Ahirudin Attan the journalist. Having served at msm owned by UMNO, it's no surprise then that Rocky is beholden to UMNO political masters. But give him credit that he also tries hard to practise journalism (investigative included), amidst an environment not too friendly to writers who ask too many "hard" questions. Citizen Nades Ahirudin is not, but sometimes he does give us news breaks that show up the warts and canvcers within the Establishment.

I urge fellow Bloggers to stand in solidarity with fellow Bloggers at times like now being faced by rockybru -- who by the way, is Interim President of National Allaince of Bloggers -- so here's Desi's shout: Brudder Rocky, Stay the course. Keep the faith! --YL

Rais Yatim lodges police report against this blog

Wassup, Minister? The Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim this morning lodged a police report against me for my posting Who gets Santa Rais' RM1 billion handout?

I'm not really certain what inspired Rais to go to the police. As far as I remember, no Cabinet minister has lodged a report against a blogger.

The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC ) has summoned me to its office in Cyberjaya to assist them with an investigation they have been ordered yesterday to conduct into my blog. I've agreed to meet them at noon tomorrow (Wednesday).

The cops have not contacted me but they will have to. I guess it's back to Bukit Aman's cyber unit for me, again.

SALAM! Wah, tindakan DSU Rais Yatim terhadap blogger Rockybru mendapat tindakan cepat dari pihak PDRM. Saya dapat tahu Rockybru Datuk Ahirudin Attan dipanggil mengadap pegawai penyiasat SKMM. Beliau diminta membuat kenyataan.

Masing pulling wool over people's eyes

10.10.10 has passed and new days are ahead! As you may have observed time and time again, James Masing is very good at play-acting, so I wouldn't be surprised if the issue is swept under the red carpet come next week.

Sarawakian voters are a peculiar lots, extremely weird. When it comes to gossip and back-stabbing, they are a loud bunch, talking non-stop about nonsense at their favourite coffee stalls.

When it comes to issues that directly concerns and affects their well-being, they prefer to 'Keep their eyes blind, keep their ears deaf, their mouths mute and their minds shut'.

Election is coming, old stories will be heard again of YBs and Datuks paying out RM50 for a vote. Imagine! RM50 for a 5-year term, RM10 per year and less than RM1 per month! HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET!

In Lubok Antu, gravel and stones will be dump at the side of the road complete with tractors and heavy machineries on 'stand-by'...then when election is over, the heavy machinery will disappear as if by magic...BN leaders are very good illusionists.

The same thing will happen in Bukit Begunan, Rimbas, Bekenu, Taie, Tebakang, Opar, Bakun...and where the Longs are many.

Well, at least the gravel and stones have its uses for cementing the ancestor's graves and house beautification.

Dirty wine in a new bottle

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 10:26 PM PDT

RPK must be so disappointed with PKR that his latest post is titled:  UMNO is beginning to look better than PKR.

Looking at how the bickering inside the party,  how recent PKR  elections were run, and how Zaid,  Nurul and others were being treated , I tend to agree with him that more and more people are disgusted with the politics that are being played in PKR.

It is just like a bottle of dirty and unpalatable wine stored in a new bottle. The bottle may be new, the wine is as lousy as before, and maybe getting even worse, since the new bottle may have something that make the wine even dirtier and more unpalatable than when it was in the old bottle.

That is the scenerio today, just 2 years and a half after 308. At the time of the tsunami,  the new bottle was so so shining and the label so attractive that everyone wanted to taste it.  People did not have to think twice to cast votes for the new bottle. Moreover, the old bottle was so full of  'sh*t'  on its surface that it made the choice easy for the rakyat.

The warloads within PR have failed to realise  that they have not won the Federal government yet; but the way many of their members act, it is as if they are already enjoying the spoils of war and everyone is trying to fight to get a share of these.

I have written after 308, even though i am a member of Gerakan, I was glad that a 2 party sytem, however imperfect, was taking shape. I thought Malaysia would be a better place if BN loses one term. I have also advised PR parties that the main priorities for them is to rule the  states under them well, so that to win over the trust of the people, and  show that they are indeed ready to take on bigger things such as ruling Putrajaya. They have to show the people that they are not just a new bottle; the wine inside is of good grade, too.

But even before the dust has settled, internal squabblings have started and the quarrels even went public. Yes, even BN parties are not immune to internal fights and EGMs and so on, but as a party that is is projecting itself as the hope for change, PR should project a better image than BN, if it wants to not just retain its support level, but to improve on it .

But as things as going, it will not only fail to improve on its support level, but also runs the real risk of losing those who are not die-hard supporters of PR.

I have compared this to the Tai Ping Rebellion of China during the Qing dynasty (refer to my article in July 2009 here) . A rebellion full of potential to overthrow the Manchus failed because its leaders were engaged in infighting, backstabbing, and fighting for the spoils of war even before they have reached the half way mark. The bickering and plundering sealed their fate and the Manchu army was able to defeat them, even though the people of China then had no affinity at all for the Manchus.

PR must realise that out of the 82 seats it won, over 30  were won on wafer thin margin. Just a swing of a few hundreds votes would mean the end of their dreams.

It would be a real pity if Malayisa, after coming so close to a 2 party system, falters again because the party crying for change cannot deliver change.

As for gerakan, this is what RPK wrote: I think I will go join Gerakan if they promise to revamp the party and change its leaders and leave Barisan Nasional to start life anew as a Third Force for all Malaysians fed up of both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat.

In fact, after 308, I have known and spoken out often  that the only chance for Gerakan to survive is to change and come out of BN, and pick up the baton of nonraicsm  that was dropped when it accepted Tun Razak's invitation to join BN as one of its founding members. Once it is out, i am sure tons of good people would join, and Gerakan could have become a real people's movement.
