Keep struggling until the house of card falls

Sometimes, I wish we had more stories of firemen saving cats stuck in trees. Flip through any local daily in Sarawak and you are bombarded with news reports that are politically slanted.

It is tiring to wade through stories upon stories of the grandiose achievements of the government and the misdeeds of the opposition.

The focus of the news reports is more on the survival of the political entity than on the everyday lay person. A foreigner can be forgiven if he/she exclaims, "Everything here is only about politics."

Which brings me to a question I am asked often: How can Pakatan Rakyat succeed in Sarawak?

It is an interesting question, as it highlights Pakatan's struggle to gain a foothold and eventually to capture the state in order to have a stake in the governance of Malaysia.

In fact, I think the question is wrong. Instead, a better question is, how can Pakatan continue to strive in Sarawak? Losing the battle does not mean one has lost the war. Pakatan can still carry on the struggle, given the weaknesses of the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Sarawak has become the house of cards in the formation of a government and it would serve that role predominantly in the next general election. And it could very well be the Achilles' heel of the BN political dream.

Here are BN's weaknesses.

Firstly, BN is over-dependent on Sarawak for its political survival.

What can be deemed as a stronghold can also be deemed as its weakest link. And if Pakatan knows its war strategy well, it can well learn and capitalise from this weak spot.

Arrogant and pompous

Secondly, BN has grown arrogant and pompous as evident from the various speeches made during the recent Umno gathering. It believes that the world revolves around it, that life itself would be destroyed without the glue of Umno and BN to hold it together, and that we need the very air only BN can afford to give us.

Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan), in his typical vocal fashion, slammed the Pakatan representatives for opposing the RM5 billion "Warisan Merdeka" project, dishing out the ever popular, "you are not grateful for development" line that has become the BN mantra of choice.

It seems that when Malaysians are quiet and "supportive", we are grateful for development, but when they oppose, Malaysians are "not grateful".

It must be noted that it is not only the Pakatan representatives who are crying foul over this project but everyday Malaysians, too. And this too is BN's Achilles' heel.

BN may have all the resources to overwhelm Pakatan in Sarawak but resources alone cannot win over the hearts and minds of the common people.

BN has become deaf to the voices of the people of Sarawak over abuses perpetrated by the current establishment. It has shut its eyes and sanctioned the systematic exploitation of Sarawak's resources.

And arrogantly, BN thinks it can justify this approach by pumping more money into development projects for Sarawak, using the stale reason of "you are not grateful for development" as a means to silence its critics, and "you cannot survive without BN" to shackle the public.

Pakatan can erode BN's influence, guerilla style. Firstly, it should not take on BN pound for pound but instead aim small; don't play the English chess but instead the Chinese game of Go.

Secondly, Pakatan should play the role of a comforting companion and confidante to the Sarawak public. It needs to assure the people that it can survive without the shadow of BN. It is a tall task but one that is not impossible.

Guerrilla warfare

Sun Tzu in "The Art of War" advocates a form of guerrilla warfare in the face of overwhelming forces, where the smaller army aims to take over small pockets of land in indirect excursions aimed at weakening the larger occupying force.

It was a lesson the Americans learnt the hard way when they fought in the Vietnam War. A superior army with state-of-art weaponry can be defeated by a smaller force.

The American force was not defeated in one outright move, but it slowly imploded under the strain of attacks from insurgents who came from all corners of the country. In short, the Americans were defeated because they could not fight anymore.

Pakatan needs to take Sarawak, community by community, city by city, town by town and eventually when the tipping point is reached, BN will shatter and the house of cards will come tumbling down. Pakatan should aim to strive and not give up under BN's seemingly indestructible rule and tire BN out.

I am also receiving messages from various people who grumble about the symptoms of the disease (such as corruption). I have replied to these messages to tell them that a doctor can't cure the symptoms of the disease (such as corruption). The doctor needs to cure the cause of the disease (the bad system). The symptoms (corruption) will automatically disappear once the disease is cured (change the system).
Some of you need to bring your level of discussion up a peg or two and be able to differentiate between cause and affect. Affect is the result (akibat). Cause is the source (punca). I have received comments that MT readers are not thinkers and comment for the sake of commenting without even understanding what they are reading.

Its the British who forced the people of Sabah and Sarawak to join Malaysia, isn't it? So if Yong wants to take Sabah out of Malaysia so be it – if the majority wants too. Why all the fuss ? All because of greed and lust, that the people had to suffer a civil war.? Man are still foolish and blind till today. Its so sad.

All throats – normal, deep throats or cut-throats – finally cough, or are forced to cough out. A medical student is taught that 'cough' is classified in two categories. A 'dry cough', and a productive one, also called 'cough with expectoration'. To this, our batch added a more prevalent sociocultural form, called, 'cough with expectations'. This had various applications. The soft one you let out while taking your chair in the library, to inform the spoilt girl that you had arrived. A softer, but slightly distressed one, from the one seated behind you in the exam, so that you may spread your answer sheet for him to get a glance. The cough let out by Mr Choudhury, even if he stays in an opulent farmhouse in Delhi, is generally an announcement to the womenfolk that he is passing by, and that they may take appropriate 'purdah'. The ramshackle village 'restroom', with the unreliable creaky door, is often taken care of by a saliva-settling throat sound let out by a desperate entrant, and an 'occupied' sound given out by an exerting occupant.related article
Cough spreads infection. Absolute, unguarded cough spreads infection absolutely. It is not always the mosquito, or the bird. Human beings are the best carriers and disseminators. A handkerchief or a rolled fist may appear decent, but technically guarantees no protection. A flu is not a flu, if it never flew. There is every reason to be scared if the one next to you in a bus or the Metro is incessantly coughing. You may change your seat, but if the new partner is sneezing, you probably are worse off. Sneezes are to the nose what coughs are to the throat. This one is pure germ warfare! Once you have faced a sprinkle, no amount of ducking under the seat, or swinging out of the door will help. By the time the last one is blasted, the lights are off, the chandelier is on the floor, and the party ends. It is only further south and west, that you hear what are decent ones. Occasionally, there are unique, suppressed squeaks, which make you pull out your own kerchief to muffle your laugh into a simulated sneeze. Violent sneezers are actually rather innocent. The act of nose blowing is such that the back-pressure blocks the eardrums, so the person is deaf to his own nuisance.

Penthouses are four times costlier, because they are beyond the reach of the mosquito. Prevention stagnates the economy. Disease adds to GDP. The hospital, medical, pharma and media get a boost. President Obama appoints record number of gay officials ~ Associated Press

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 03:00 PM PDT

Well, it had to finally happen! America is now fast deteriorating into a country with the highest number of lesbians and sodomites in the world.

With the growing number of people who choose to go against the order of nature and adopting the lifestyle of the accursed ones in Prophet Lut Alaihi Salam's era, the United States of America is just going to implode from within very soon from this scourge of social breakdown and moral decadence.

Allah the Almighty reveals to us about the events that took place in the times of His Prophet Lut Alaihis Salam where such abhorrable practices of sodomy and lesbianism happened:

Surah An Naml Chapter 27 Verses 54 - 55 :

Walootan ith qalaliqawmihi ata/toona alfahishata waantum tubsiroon
Sahih International
And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?
Muhsin Khan
And (remember) Lout (Lot)! When he said to his people . Do you commit Al-Fahishah (evil, great sin, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, sodomy, etc.) while you see (one another doing evil without any screen, etc.)?"

A-innakum lata/toona arrijalashahwatan min dooni annisa-i bal antum qawmuntajhaloon
Sahih International
Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly."
Muhsin Khan
"Do you approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, but you are a people who behave senselessly."

The late outstanding Caller to Islam, Allahyarham Sheikh Ahmed Deedat broached about this subject here in his video :

Watch and learn from this straight talking legend amongst the Callers to Islam about the dangers of engaging in this abhorrable choice of engaging in such foul and filthy sexual deviations that will end the lineage of one's family's generation the moment one enters this decadent lifestyle of the sodomites and lesbians!

Its disgusting to see the growing number of such sodomites and lesbians being proudly listed here serving in President Obama's administration. I can only say that this is not healthy for America. They will suffer soon the repercussions of appointing such people to run or lead their affairs.

The American society as a whole risks having such sodomites and lesbians making the wrong decisions in their terms of office by favoring their kind in national and security issues resulting in a backlash of the wrong decisions which will endanger their country. but then again this is just my personal assumption which may or not be proven to be true by the turn of events later?

I leave it to them to decide as to whom they choose to lead them into the uncertain future?

Let's now watch another splendid answer by Almarhum Sheikh Deedat to a woman asking about sexual matters posed to him in an event attended by thousands of people in Australia:

Even here in Malaysia, there are a growing number of such sodomites turning up in our society. The authorities here must be ever vigilant as not to allow what's happening in Washington to take place in Putrajaya.

May Allah Forbid!

Najib Akan Bina Lebih Banyak Kelab Malam????

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 01:06 PM PDT

Pentadbiran Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak mahu menjadikan Malaysia sebuah hub pusat hiburan malam bagi memacu industri pelancongan mengikut Program Transformasi Ekonomi (ETP).

•Penarafan kelas A berasaskan pada kedudukan 100 teratas carta Billboard sejak lima tahun yang lalu;

Pertamanya pemimpin sendiri mesti bersikap seperti pemimpin negara maju. Pemimpin negara maju selalunya bersifat 'gentlman'.

Margerat Thatcher meletakkan jawatan walaupun beliau menang pemilihan parti apabila Hesseltine menandingi beliau.

Although on hi-atus, I can steal cut&pastry yeh!

Enter 'i' - a new newspaper that 'combines intelligence with brevity'

Tuesday, 26 October 2010 18:28
LONDON - A new newspaper claiming to "combine intelligence with brevity" hit the news stands in Britain Tuesday, the brainchild of Russian tycoon Alexander Lebedev who owns the liberal Independent daily and its Sunday sister paper.

The tabloid-format new paper, a mini-Independent called called "i", costs a mere 20 pence (30 US cents) and is aimed at offering concise and well-analysed information on major topics to the "time-poor" newspaper reader.

With 56 pages, it pledges to "combine intelligence with brevity and depth with speed of reading."

"Time-poor newspaper readers, and especially commuters, have been telling us for years that they are inundated with information and just don't have the time to read a quality newspaper on a regular basis," said Andrew Mullins, managing director of the Independent.

The new paper uses the same editorial staff as the Independent, which was bought by Lebedev earlier this year for one pound - the cost of one daily editionIndy_i_paper of the Independent.

In 2009, the Russian billionaire bought the Evening Standard, London's only evening newspaper, which he has made available free of charge.

According to Mullins, the long-term goal of the launch of a concise, distilled and cheap daily newspaper is to "bring people back to the quality newspaper market."

"i" will have to compete with Metro, the free morning newspaper published by rivals Associated Newspapers.

Sales of the Independent have fallen to around 183,000 a day from about 250,000 three years ago. The title was founded in 1986. - DPA/Bernama

World Cup Soccer’s Psychic Octopus Dies In Germany.

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 07:54 AM PDT

Paul, the oracle octopus who shot to fame in the World Cup this summer for his uncanny ability to predict the results of Germany's soccer matches, has died at his home in Oberhausen at the age of two.

English-born Paul made headlines across the globe after he correctly forecast how Germany would fare in seven matches, before his psychic powers were tested again for the final.

After Germany's semi-final defeat, Paul tipped Spain to beat the Netherlands in the final, which prompted one news agency to report he had spurred a jump in demand for Spanish government bonds. Paul's prediction duly came to pass: Spain won.

Staff at the Oberhausen Sea Life Centre in western Germany said in a statement they were "devastated" to learn of Paul's death when they returned to work today.

"He appears to have passed away peacefully during the night, of natural causes, and we are consoled by the knowledge that he enjoyed a good life," said the centre's manager Stefan Porwoll.

Before matches, two containers of food were placed in the eight-legged creature's tank, each one bearing the flag of one of the teams about to compete for their chance to become world champions. The container Paul picked first was seen as his pick.

Following the World Cup, a Spanish zoo made a transfer bid for Paul but his German keepers refused to sell.

Paul will be kept in cold storage until the centre decides how to mark the mollusc's extraordinary life, Porwoll added.

"We may decide to give Paul his own small burial plot within our grounds and erect a modest permanent shrine," he said.

Paul, who was hatched in Weymouth, England, may yet continue to dazzle the world with predictions from beyond the grave.

A Russian newspaper said in July it had got Paul to predict who would be Russia's next president – but that the results would be kept secret until the election year of 2012.

Sea Life said Paul would live on as the object of a host of commercial enterprises ranging from special clothing lines to mobile phone applications inspired by his fame in Oberhausen, one of Germany's most cash-strapped cities.

Meanwhile, donations made in honour of Paul's achievements would help to fund a planned permanent rescue centre for sea turtles on the Greek island of Zakynthos, Sea Life said.

Malaysiakini - Help Indians, Human Rights Party pleads to Manmohan

I used to support Hindraf so much that I once disliked Haris Ibrahim for it, well, admittedly for a very wrong reason. I thought Haris was unkind to Hindraf. My blogger matey Lucia Lai chided me for being unaware of what a great bloke Haris was (still is).

Then one day I read one of Haris's posts in Malaysiakini, called Jambuism which touched me enormously. I realized then I was wrong about Haris and my matey Lucia was right.

If you wish to know why I was moved by Haris' article, feel free to read my Omnia Vincit Jambuism posted on 22 June 2008.

So for Hindraf I had incorrectly disliked Haris (for a while). Then around the same Jambuism time, much to my great disappointment I saw Uthayakumar for the person he really was/is – an arrogant bully-boy making threats to Lim Guan Eng to get what he wanted (or so he had hoped), and being inexcusably biadap to Dr Rama, the DCM of Penang. Chinese would describe him as 'peh boe boe kar see' (his parents failed to teach him manners or civilities).

Let me make one distinction here before I continue – it's not Hindraf I was disappointed in but Uthayakumar himself.

After Uthayakumar's no doubt very trying spell under the draconian ISA, during which time DAP had made several appeals on his behalf, he emerged to bizarrely attack DAP with such ferocity, arrogance and offensive insolent incivility, all because he had, very hubristically, DEMANDED that Lim Guan Eng must save Kampung Buah Pala at any cost, regardless.

With equal insolence, impudence and unmitigated effrontery he also abused Dr Rama of being a mandore. Such a boorish oaf cannot be unforgiven without proper apologies.

That's the unreasonableness of Uthayakumar. That's the biadap-ness of Uthayakumar. That's the arrogance of a man who had thought all should kowtow immediately to his royal dictates.

Next to his insolent arrogance I dislike him for referring the problems of Indian Malaysians to foreign leaders, with his latest nonsense being to get, of all people, the PM of India, Manmohan Singh to INTERVENE in a Malaysian domestic issue regarding Indian Malaysians - how f* insensitive, how most un-Malaysian.

While there's no doubt a need to uplift the lot of Indian Malaysians, should Uthayakumar coopt the PM of India to intervene with the PM of Malaysia? How would India like it if foreigners interfere in its internal affairs?

And using his logic (or lack of), should Chinese Malaysians also appeal to Chinese President Hu Jintou to intervene and force the Malaysian PM to introduce asset-testing in the NEP programs? Sheeesh! I cringe at the very thought of inviting foreign intrusions into our domestic affairs!

For a start he will only succeed in riling PM Najib and most Malaysians. So how would that really help Indian Malaysians? It's not as if he isn't aware of this likely outcome, so we really need to ask what his grandstanding agenda really is?

I don't believe the Indian Malaysians have been, are or will be well served by this person.

Middlemen making fast buck on Brickfields traders

FRI, 22 OCT 2010 11:34

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar is urging Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to deal directly with traders in Brickfields.

She said middlemen had become an incessant problem for traders who do business in the area during Deepavali festival season as they block space and re-rent the lots for a higher rate.

Speaking to reporters after a routine visit to traders in and around Brickfield yesterday, Nurul said every year the traders complained about doing business in the area during the festive season because of the high rents.

"Our study has shown that the rents for each lot (with a tent) goes up to RM2,400. This is too high for traders around here. This problem is often repeated because DBKL appoints Kuala Lumpur Indian United Traders Association (Brickfield) as the middleman in the business of renting", she said.

She added that the original rate for each lot was from RM700 to RM800.

But the association charges RM2,400 per tent and locates three tenants within this space.

Several tenants have complained about the squeeze.

"I feel this is a problem that can be avoided. The traders who come in during the festivities are not big-timers. These are temporary business or starter-ups. The high rents put unnecessary financial pressure on them," she said.

Easy and transparent

DBKL has provided 100 lots for temporary business, but the association with an eye on profits has tripled the lots available.

Nurul said she had sent a letter to DBKL on the matter and had urged the council to investigate the matter.

"There is no reason for a middleman in this case. DBKL should rent the lots directly to the traders as practised by the Klang Municipal Council.

"In Klang, all lots are chosen by the traders themselves by drawing lots. In this way, the process becomes easy and transparent," she said.

Meanwhile, Federal Territories and Urban Well-Being Deputy Minister M Saravanan, who coincidentally was also on visit to Brickfields, assured Nurul that the matter would be looked into.

FMT contacted the Kuala Lumpur Indian United Traders Association over Nurul's statement but it denied any malpractice.

Its chairman Gobal Rajee said DBKL only provided tents at RM400 each. He said the association charged RM400 for electricity, garbage collection and administration fee for 30 days.

Gobal, however, did not elaborate on why the lots were tripled in the first place.

Why kitsiang is afraid of history........

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 03:13 AM PDT

When Lim Kit Siang spewed vitriol over the Education Ministry's decision to make History a must-pass SPM subject one can only assume that this old dog is petrified that the young should learn their history. How else can the hatred for history be explained.

There have always been whispers about Lim Kit Siang's involvement in sparking the racial riot of May 13, 1969 so maybe the dictatorial leader of the DAP doesn't want Malaysians to know just exactly where he was and what he was doing in the days leading to the riots.

I have heard stories of urinating in front of Malay leader's home, taunting Malays and such....just how much of this was at the instigation or condoned by the PAP-trained opposition leader has yet to be fully understood.

Lim Kit Siang's fear of history is certainly peculiar and perhaps very telling of his state of mind and recollection of the past.

A people who do not know their history are fated to repeat mistakes of the past and this is often repeated warning is part of the basic package of modern common sense.

DAP has always liked to use May 13 as the ghost of Umno past, painting the picture of an episode of Malay violence against the Chinese when the reality is very different, it is a period of Chinese arrogance and goading of Malay sensitivities.

By the way, stories of May 13 is peppered with tales of Chinese families finding refuge in Malay homes but the weeks of darkness under Chinese-controlled MPAJA rule has dug up no similar stories of the Chinese protecting Malays from the untold extreme barbarianism of the Communists who are mostly Chinese....I wonder why?

The more DAP wants to use May 13 as the  ghost of the past to incite the people against the Barisan Nasional Government, the more people will realise that it was BN leaders who took the brave step to stop the rioting.

Tun Abdul Razak took the risk of suspending democracy to give the Government time to formulate a workable plan for the future...

Again...one wonders why Kit Siang is so afraid of history???

Tsen a good bet among squabbling men

By Pushparani Thilaganathan

COMMENT Linda Tsen may turn out to be Chief Minister Musa Aman's unlikely saviour in the upcoming Batu Sapi parliamentary seat by-election, given the marked dissent among male members of the Sabah Barisan Nasional coalition and the Opposition.

Fielding Tsen, widow of incumbent Edmund Chong Ket Wah, may have initially been aimed at winning sympathy votes, as in the case of Anwar Ibrahim's wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (who went on to win Permatang Pauh in the 2008 general election) but it's now turning out to be a "good decision".

However, what is obvious among the contending parties – Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), PKR and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) – is that discord is running through their camps over their respective choice of candidates.

The Batu Sapi parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Chong in an accident on Oct 9.

Yesterday, when PBS announced that Tsen is the BN candidate for Batu Sapi, it was greeted with busloads of protesters from the Sekong division, who wanted a Muslim Bumiputera fielded instead.

They claimed that Chong had not been looking after the welfare of the Muslim Bumiputeras who comprised 59% of the constituency since he was first elected in 2004.

One protesters even said: "How can a woman go into Muslim areas and find out about us; we live in the water villages… no outsider, especially a woman, would dare go there!"

The same evening Pakatan Rakyat candidate Ansari Abdullah, a lawyer-politician, also suffered the same fate.

The moment PKR de factor leader Anwar Ibrahim ended his speech and Ansari took to the podium, hundreds of PKR members, believed to be supporters of Sabah PKR liaison chief Ahmad Thamrin Zaini, reportedly left the hall. They expected Ahmad Thamrin to be the candidate.

And standing between PKR and BN is SAPP president Yong Teck Lee, who himself has come under scathing attack from several of his past allies.

Former deputy chief minister and SAPP ally Tham Nyip Shen fired a broadside at Yong, describing his candidacy as "nothing but an ego trip, in a vain bid to try and prove that he is (indeed) a 'taiko' as made out by the Sabah media".

Safest candidate

Amidst this male egocentric political landscape, a woman candidate seems to have been a most sensible choice, even if it was initially to secure "sympathy votes".

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), another Sabah BN component, has issued a rallying call to women to back Tsen in Batu Sapi, saying it's "time that Sabah women are well and truly represented in Parliament".

Tsen, a housewife and part-time music teacher, was a name tossed about to replace her husband but few had thought BN would go through with the idea, given that there are many more capable and able candidates in PBS.

Declining to delve into the coalition's collective decision, LDP president VK Liew simply said: "It was a good decision given the circumstances."

"This is a rare opportunity for women to make their wish come true. They must rally behind Tsen and help her attain a resounding victory.

"She's qualified and has been in party politics for a long time with her husband... it is a recognition for women. She will bring in the votes," he added.

Litmust test

In the 2008 general election, Chong won the seat by a 3,708-majority, defeating independent candidate Dr Chung Ong Wing.

Chong polled 9,479 votes against Chung's 5,771.

This time round, the BN leaders in the Peninsula expect the party to increase its majority as a testimony to its power and influence in Sabah.

The BN leadership has left the fate of Batu Sapi in the hands of Musa.

Musa's "remarkable political touch" which led to Sabah BN's clean sweep in the last general election – securing 24 of the 25 parliamentary seats and 59 of the 60 state seats – saved Umno-BN's place in Putrajaya.

But the scenario then was different. Post-2008 polls, the mood has markedly changed in Sabah. Batu Sapi will be a litmus test more so now that it is to be a three-cornered fight.

The constituency has 25,582 voters, of whom 24,047 are ordinary voters and 1,535 postal voters. Women make 45.92% (11,745) and men 54.08% (13,835) of the voting population.

Some 59% of the voters are Muslim Bumiputeras, with Chinese, non-Muslim Bumiputeras and others making up the balance.

The Muslim Bumiputeras are divided over whom to trust and which candidate has a higher sense of integrity.

On both counts, BN and the opposition have little to rely on with their menfolk.

Sympathy votes or not, housewife Tsen does look to be a saviour for Musa and PBS president Joseph Pairin Kitingan, both of whom are facing their toughest test ever in the prelude to the 13th general election.

Meanwhile, PKR is working hard to convince Yong to withdraw and allow for a straight fight between Ansari and Tsen.

Imagine having a car with doors that can disappear the moment you want to enter or get out. That is innovation.

By Election Irony ~ Progress and developments only come with the death of MP's and State Assemblymen or women!

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 01:18 AM PDT

Isn't it ironic that only when the incumbent Member of Parliament or State Assemblyman or woman dies, will development projects and windfalls benefit whichever parliamentary or constituency here in Malaysia?

I have long been observing this phenomena take place without fail here in this Bolehland. The minute any of the incumbent politician holding the elected post of an MP or State Assembly man or woman drops dead, all forgotten promises after the last election suddenly gets a new lease of life and all the government or opposition machinery gets into gear and starts heading for the affected area.

Suddenly, far flung areas become the target zone and every registered voter no matter if he or she is just a simple villager becomes a much sought after VIP and politicians who all these while had been too bloody busy and occupied with their overflowing agenda will make time and go visit every nook and cranny in order to garner support for the impending by election!

What a bloody show of hypocrisy at its lowest standards!

To the affected areas, it sure is a windfall and those with houses to rent out make quite a killing!

Rents shoot up skywards and reach tens of thousands of ringgits to accommodate party campaigners. Restaurants and hotels are the ones who reap the rewards the most with some turning into campaign headquarters and operate to the max 24 hours throughout the campaign period.

The way top ministers and opposition leaders congregate to shower the beneficiaries in the form of registered voters in every by election parliamentary and state constituency with all kinds of assistance and grants plus overnight approved development projects just goes on to inspire the other unprivileged voters to pray that their MP or State Assemblyman or woman will kick the proverbial bucket soon so that they too might get similar windfalls?

On to another topic concerning these often in the news group of politicians who never seem to run out of controversies to merit their mugs be published in the daily newspapers and appearing in television talk shows, I wonder as to what exactly have they been doing for their voters in the respective parliamentary and constituency?

Some of these MP's and SA's only seem to be hogging the media limelight but not doing anything for their areas?

Some MP's are very dedicated towards solving crimes by going ahead of the police such as our MP for Kapar had demonstrated recently.

Some MPs are much more interested in creating hullabaloos over there in Parliament by raising petty issues that serves no other purpose than to get themselves reported in the news?

Is that the reason why we elected them into their positions in the first place?

To fulfill their personal agendas and to pull stunts that even Harry Houdini would be too embarrassed to even attempt in the first place?

As the years go by, I sense that many out there would be praying that so and so drops dead quick in order for them to profit from the ever ready development projects that would materialize in some magic form or manner just out of the blue?

One anxious Ong Chew Tee of Hulu Selangor is awaiting his area's MP YB Kamalanathan to fulfill his promise to replace his leaking roof?

I sure hope that Ong Chew Tee isn't praying for a new MP!

Touch wood, some say?

Dua calon miliki kelebihan tersendiri

Posted: 25 Oct 2010 11:46 PM PDT

Where will the ‘Lim Guan Eng of Sarawak’ stand ?

Posted: 25 Oct 2010 11:34 PM PDT

audie61′s has the pleasure to introduce our new Political Correspondent Tiger Liew with his first article:-

In Semenanjung Malaysia, they have Lim Guan Eng, in Sarawak, we have Chong Chieng Jen.

Like the Lims dominate the DAP in the west, the Chong family wields great influence over the state DAP in Sarawak. They may even be nursing the confidence that Chieng Jen is now unbeatable. Maybe even a future Chief Minister of Sarawak. It has happened in Penang with Lim Guan Eng, hasn't it?

In politics, perception is more powerful than reality. They believe they will win in the long run.

So far, things have been going Chieng Jen's way. The second term MP for Bandar Kuching rode the waves of discontent against SUPP in the state election of 2006, narrowly beating Alfred Yap Chin Loi and winning the new seat of Kota Sentosa.

We do not know how Alfred Yap felt after his loss but we can guess. He had of course been asked to give up his relatively safe Batu Kawah seat then and be the knight in shining armor riding into Kota Sentosa.

But if you believe the whispers on the ground, Yap has been quietly campaigning since the day he lost.  The word is that Yap will love and relish the chance to win his SUPP party' nomination. He must be itching for a second round in Kota Sentosa.

If Yap does get nominated for a second time in Kota Sentosa, will he get the chance to meet Chong again?

For Chong, he has already proven his point when he fell Assistant Minister Yap in Kota Sentosa. He has bigger fishes to fry. The DAP has always been proud that their leaders (for example Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng) can parachute anywhere into Chinese majority areas and win. The elder Lim has proven it many times by winning in Melaka, Perak and Penang.

Will Chong defend his Kota Sentosa seat next time round?

Or will he go off and slay a new dragon somewhere else. Let his lieutenant fight Kota Sentosa? If the DAP can still tap the Chinese voters' anger, Chong will be a hero and prove his worth by charging into the enemy's stronghold. He will be able to hold his head high among his colleagues in Semenanjung Malaysia if he gains another state seat elsewhere.

But where?

If Chong chooses to fight another seat, one likely and logical place is the neighboring seat of Batu Kawah. He has been known to be making the rounds there.

And shhhhh,  the SUPP Batu Kawah hacks are scared shit about the prospect of a "Chong vs Tan Joo Phoi" fight. They would be, wouldn't they? At the moment, See Chee How of PKR is claiming the chance to fight Batu Kawah. But if Chong drops in, the calculus will be much different.

So, will Chong leave Kota Sentosa for Batu Kawah?  Will he prove his worth and live up to the nickname they have given him: "Idol of the Chinese rural youth"

Don't forget, you heard about this first from the Tiger. Grrrr
