It is Azmin versus Zaid, and their quotable quotes..

Zaid Ibrahim : "Pemilihan 2010 is both a first for our country and for our party. Every member has a vote, and every vote counts. For the first time in history, the party can choose to elect its leaders on principles and not just on blind loyalty. The party can decide on a candidate based entirely on his or her contributions and commitment.

I believe that our party members are mature enough to evaluate the existing leaders for themselves. I leave my proposal and vision to their judgement because I am confident that this is the way towards real change in our Government."

Azmin Ali : "The party will always have space for every member, including Zaid."

"I have great respect for Zaid. He has strength that will help the party, and I believe that if I am accepted as deputy president, Zaid will get an important role to continue to help consolidate and prepare the party for the next general elections… this is not a political pronouncement, but my commitment to work with Zaid and other colleagues."

" We need to re-energize the party, we need to be loyal to the party, and with my organizational experience behind, I promise to lead the party towards the reform of Putrajaya!"

Guns for power?

Posted: 21 Oct 2010 10:59 AM PDT

The previous U-Tube did not make it clear. However, this one shows how they ambushed Tengku Ismail Petra at gunpoint. He was defenseless in the MPV when about 20 'ninjas' stormed his motorcades on May 4, 2010 just outside the Istana Mahkota.

Those behind this were obviously 'sick people'. Their intention was clear - to get him out of power!

The government knew about it, and so did the State Government and Bukit Aman but they refused to investigate merely because it was 'a palace matter'. Had one of the 'ninjas' accidentally fired a bullet towards him, there wont be any investigation too, I guess...

ROTTEN PARENTS, TAKE HEED

Posted: 21 Oct 2010 09:10 AM PDT

Straits Times 18 Oct 2010

Under the proposed changes to the Maintenance of Parents Act, adult children may not be legally obliged to support their aged parents if they are undeserving of the support.

Let's admit it. Not all parents are role model material. There are some who are violent and abusive to their children. Some are gamblers, some squander away money meant for the children's education, and there are some who abandon their families only to return years later to seek shelter, support and forgiveness.

Children who grow up never knowing what it is like to be loved and cared for by their parents cannot be expected to show love when there is none. If compelled by law to provide financial assistance to their aged parents, they will do so but with resentment.

A case of 'As you sow, so shall you reap'?

Insya Allah.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Demikianlah lagu nasyid yang paling menggerunkan mereka yang mempunyai penyakit Al Wahn.
Al Wahn yang membawa maksud cintakan kehidupan duniawi ini dan takutkan mati.
Padahal bagi mereka yang mahu berfikir akan sedar bahawa bilamana sampainya saat dan ketika ajal setiap dari kita, maka tak ada gunanya kita lari ke seantero penjuru dunia sekalipun, makanya Malaikat Maut yakni Sayyidina Izra`il Alaihis Salam tetap menjejaki kita!
Engkau cubalah macamana sekalipun, menyembunyikan diri disebalik kubu yang paling kuat nescaya akan sampai Malaikatul Maut kesisimu.
Dia tak kan peduli samada engkau seorang Raja, Presiden, Syaikh, Maulana, Mursyidul Am, Tuan Guru, Blogger atau insan biasa yang hidup tak pernah bercampur dengan orang sekalipun?
Tak adanya kes di tunda atau di tangguh bicara?
Tak terawal barang sesaat mahupun lewat barang sedetik!
Cukup masa, ruh kita akan berpisah dari badan.
Ini ketentuan Allahu Rabbi.
Sedarkah kita masa berlalu begitu saja?
Namun masih ramai di antara kita yang alpa, mengadu domba, meneropong salah dan silap orang padahal bontot sendiri bagaikan ayam jantan kokok berderai derai, ekor bergelumang najis?
Penyanyi lagu nasyid ini Allahyarham Ustaz Mohd Asri Ibrahim, penyanyi utama kumpulan Nadamurni yang selepas Al Arqam dibubarkan telah berhijrah membina Kumpulan Nasyid Rabbani.
Beliau kini sudah lama kembali ke Rahmatullah meninggalkan untuk kita rakaman suara dan persona diri terus mengingatkan kita pada Al Maut melalui khazanah seni suara dan nasyid beliau.
Suara gemersiknya terus menjentik jiwa dan sanubari kita yang masih merindukan kehadirannya dengan dagu bergetar yang tiada dua di alam fana ini.
Bawa bawalah beringat didalam kembara jiwa kita di Yaum al Duniya ini.
Insya Allah.
Marilah kita sedekahkan bacaan Surah Al Fatihah kepada Allahyarham Ustaz Mohd Asri Ibrahim.
Al Fatihah!
UMNO throws poor Malays to the Elist wolves,Umno must be stopped from manipulating justice
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 05:57 AM PDT
JOHOR BAHARU (Harakahdaily) – Calling on Malaysians to "bury fascism", PAS Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat urged them to oppose any slide towards an authoritarian government opposed to the spirit of democracy and justice.
"Fascism in any form will bring destruction. The public's better awareness and literacy about information have brought only trouble for UMNO and BN, the fascist government.
"UMNO must be stopped from continually manipulating justice for the people," Nik Aziz told a forum organised by rights group Suaram here.
He said although the Federal Constitution had clearly stated Islam as the religion of the Federation with other religions able to be practised peacefully, Nik Aziz pointed out that the UMNO and Barisan Nasional were not ruling based on any religious values but one which he said was based on secularism that was oriented to racist nationalism.
"When the spirit of religion is not practised by the BN, there prevails tyranny, oppression, plunder and injustice agianst the people," he said.
He cited examples of the Internal Security Act (ISA), as well as many other laws preventing freedom of speech, and the undermining of bodies such as the Election Commission, police and the judiciary.
"Because they are fascists, they do not follow their religion, they disobey the constitution and they rob the people of their rights. Just like the Perak coup to overthrow the elected government," said the Kelantan Menteri Besar, adding that denying people their democratic rights and advocating racism were the characteristics of fascism.
He called on Pakatan Rakyat to double efforts in creating awareness among the people in the urban, rural and remote areas.
"Leaders must prove their integrity and moral leadership based on religion. Never abandon any religion," he said.
UPDATE 6 In a speech that is bound to raise the already high political-temperature in the country and drive investors further away, Prime Minister Najib Razak used violent language in his opening address to his Umno party, vowing to defend their five-decade stranglehold on the federal government even if it meant crushed bodies and lost lives.
"This is the most shocking and irresponsible statement to come from a PM although many of us in the opposition have been warning of a major showdown. But it also brings to the fore the fact that Najib is not as confident as he pretends to be. In fact, he is desperate because the chances are very high that Umno-BN will lose," PAS central committee member Nizar Jamaluddin told Malaysia Chronicle.
At the 61st Umno annual assembly, Najib – who is the party president – was cheered by members as he led them through reverberating shouts of Hidup Umno (the Malay equivalent of Long Live Umno) three times. Umno pundits had actually been expecting a slightly cooler reaction with many members waiting to grill Najib for his 1Malaysia plan, tepid performance and recent flip-flops over a series of political and economic issues.
"Even if our bodies are crushed and our lives lost, brothers and sisters, whatever happens, we must defend Putrajaya," Malaysiakin reported Najib as saying. Putrajaya is Malaysia's administrative capital.
Racial cleansing
In his hour-long speech, Najib even warned of the possibility of 'racial cleansing' such as in Rwanda and Bosnia if unnamed parties continued to challenge and debate the preferential status now enjoyed by the Malays.
Nurul – Umno likely to hound her
Some of the Pakatan Rakyat leaders who recently and openly debunked Umno's claim of special rights include PKR's Nurul Izzah Anwar, who created a mini-tsunami in the country with her Malaysia or Malaysaja series of articles. She has challenged Najib, former premier Mahathir Mohamad and ultra-Malay rights group Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali to public debates, which all three men have shunned.
Malaysia's federal constitution does not state that Malays have special rights or rights that are above the other ethnic groups. However, there are clear provisions that the Malay community is entitled to special positions in the economic and educational sectors.
Nonetheless, this is not the way Najib or Umno sees it. They insist that any interpretation other than theirs is an affront to Malay supremacy, although many in the community do not agree with such a stance as it smacks of oppression and racism. Nevertheless, racial supremacy has been the traditional tool used by Umno to tie the Malay community to it.
"What I am saying is not surprising. In the 20th century, we have seen cases of punishment without trial in the United States, the holocaust tragedy in Europe, the slaughter of Palestinians in the Middle East and the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Rwanda. Imagine, what is the outcome, if every generation of Malaysians question the social contract which were agreed upon by their forefathers," said Najib.
Pakatan calls for calm
Meanwhile, Pakatan leaders have called on Malaysians to stay calm and ignore Najib's invective. They slammed him for the "grossest" hypocrisy, pointing to his maiden speech to United Nations last month where he called for moderation and even offered Malaysia's help in creating a movement of moderates over extremists
"Shame on Najib for trying to frighten the people. This is the worst type of scare-mongering and bullying. If the people are still not convinced by now that he and his Umno-BN must go, then this speech will convince them," PAS leader Dr Hatta Ramli told Malaysia Chronicle.
"If Malaysians decide to change for the better, no one can stop the landslide, so stop the drama. Najib only shows his fear and hysteria of impending rejection by the people. He has degenerated so far down the line that he is even bragging to Umno that he is willing to use force to thwart the wishes of therakyat (citizenry). And the sad thing is, Umno members are themselves deceived by this racial emotionalism."
Malaysia's 28 million population is expected to go to the polls again in early 2011. At the 2008 general election, the people gave Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim and his Pakatan coalition control of 5 out of 13 states. Significantly, they also withdrew Umno-BN's long-held two-thirds parliamentary majority. This majority has been blamed for the rampant corruption and abuse of power by the ruling elite as it gave them the power to ram through whatever laws they wished.
Malays form about half the country's population, indigenous people about 10 percent, Chinese 28, Indians about 10 percent and rest by unlisted ethnic groups.
Pre-empting criticism from Umno members
Political support amongst the Malays is split between Umno, PAS and PKR. Chinese have abandoned BN's MCA and Gerakan in droves and are expected to vote for the Pakatan in the next election. Indians and the Bumi or indigenous people are harder to read as both have traditionally been BN loyalists, although the Indians switched over to the Pakatan in 2008.
Members were expected to grill Najib and his 1Malaysia
Despite rosy popularity surveys by pro-government bodies, there is also a growing number of pundits who believe that Najib may dissolve Parliament next year, but not the BN-controlled state governments so that he will not lose all should the people decide to go for change.
Some also believe Najib was trying to deflect Umno's attention from his weak performance and leadership by swinging sharply to the right and trying to out race-champion his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister.
"Dissolving just the Parliament is one theory that is making the rounds. But it is hard to tell. The fact is Najib is a political coward. He may even decide not to call for a GE next year. What he is trying to do now is to rally support for himself from Umno members and GE is always an effective way," Batu MP Tian Chua toldMalaysia Chronicle.
"Umno members will get so hyped up by his speech, they may forget to blast him for his non-performance and flip-flops. He has been in power for nearly two years but has achieved nothing other than spending millions on expensive public relations and wasteful mega-projects. But whatever his strategy, he will not be able to fend off a challenge from Muhyiddin in the Umno election next year."
Banner war on the road to Parliament
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 02:20 AM PDT
A battle has broken out in Parliament this morning as several Pakatan Rakyat parliamentarians marched out of the building to erect banners from their respective political parties in retaliation to those put up by Umno. The opposition MPs saw red early this week upon encountering banners for Umno's 61st annual general meeting being draped on lamp posts on both sides of the road leading to Parliament. Berfikir sejenak lebih baik daripada beramal sepanjang malam
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 06:22 AM PDT
Bagi orang-orang yang zuhud dan yang muktabar mereka selalu mengajar murid-murid mereka supaya berusaha menjadi orang yang ikhlas dan jujur sesama manusia. Apabila kita jujur dengan manusia yang lain maka sekaligus kita adalah seorang yang jujur kepada yang Maha Esa. Tiada siapa yang mengetahui sejauh mana kejujuran seseorang itu melainkan diriNya yang sebenarnya.
Tahap kejujuran itu hanya akan sampai apabila kita telah melakukan penyucian terhadap diri kita melalui ibadah pada zahirnya dan amalan pada hakikatnya. Jika kain dan baju kita itu kotor maka cara membersihkannya ialah dengan membasuh dengan air dan sabun pencuci. Tetapi penyucian diri kita itu hanya boleh dilakukan dengan mengamalkan zikirullah secara intensif yang merupakan solat berterusan yang dinamakan dalam kajian hakikat sebagai Solatul Daimun.
Bertawajjuh dan bertawassul kepada Allah merupakan satu amalan yang dituntut bagi kita menjolok rahmat Tuhan dan seterusnya kita berharap dibukakan hijab untuk menjadi orang yang ikhlas dan jujur dalam semua penghidupan termasuklah bidang siasah dan politik yang melibatkan manusia ramai. Itulah amalan pemimpin-pemimpin besar Islam zaman dahulu dan kebesaran gagasan dan jajahan takhluk Islam dilakukan oleh pemimpin-pemimin yang sentiasa bersama Tuhan.
Lain-lain perkataan pemimpin-pemimpin Islam semasa itu sentiasa berada bersama Tuhan dalam segala kehendak kehidupan mereka. Kesebatian mereka dengan unsur ketuhanan mereka sangat tinggi; ibaratnya, kalau tidur dibuat bantal, kalau berjalan dibuat tongkat. Inilah pakaian hidup pemimpin-pemimpin besar Islam dahulu kala yang mampu menakhluki sebahagian besar dunia ini dan mengembangkan Islam di merata pelosok dunia ini.
Kita berbalik kepada unsur ikhlas tadi. Sifat ikhlas ini merupakan sifat Tuhan yang Maha Esa dan mereka yang zuhud sahaja yang boleh dikategorikan sebagai ikhlas. Walaupun ramai di antara kita yang mengaku bahawa mereka serta perjuangan mereka adalah ikhlas hakikatnya yang ikhlas hanya mereka yang sudah sampai kesucian batin dan qalbi mereka sahaja.
Tindakan seorang yang ikhlas itu bersandarkan kepada 4 landasan yang dibahagikan kepada 2 elemen yang berbeza:-
2 perkara yang kita mesti ingat sepanjang hayat dan 2 lagi yang kita mesti lupakan sepanjang kehidupan kita.
  1. 2 perkara yang kita mesti ingat sepanjang hayat kita ialah baik orang kepada kita. Satu lagi ialah jahat kita kepada orang. Mengingati baik orang kepada kita itu merangkumi sifat berterima kasih dan sifat syukur. Mengingati jahat kita kepada orang lain sepanjang hayat kita ialah untuk membina sifat taubat dan menyesal di atas tindakan jahat kita kepada manusia lain.
  2. 2 perkara yang kita mesti lupakan sepanjang hayat kita ialah baik kita kepada orang lain dan jahat orang kepada kita. Melupakan baik kita kepada orang lain merupakan sifat ikhlas dan jujur yang dituntut oleh Tuhan kerana jika kita ikhlas dan jujur segala perbuatan kita itu tidak minta diingati mahupun minta dibalas. Ianya semata-mata kerana keredhaan kita sebagai makhluk Tuhan yang dikatakan sebagai secantik-cantik kejadian. Melupakan jahat orang kepada kita ialah untuk membina sifat pemaaf atas kesalahan manusia lain terhadap kita.
Perkara-perkara yang disebutkan di atas ini merupakan elemen kesempurnaan sebagai insan yang diberikan tanggungjawab menjaga kesucian dan kerahsiaan Tuhan dan jika ada di kalangan kita mempunyai ciri-ciri ini dalam kehidupan kita maka kitalah sebenarnya yang menguasai segala apa yang baik yang diturunkan oleh Allah melalui Rasul-Rasul dan Nabi-Nabi serta Aulia-Aulia dan Wali-WaliNya.
Dalam konteks ini maka kita lebih-lebih lagi pemimpin-pemimpin boleh bertafakkur walaupun sejenak untuk meletakkan kita di mana yang sepatutnya diletakkan. Bertafakkur dan berfikir sejenak itu lebih baik dari beramal sepanjang malam. Itulah satu dari Fiman Tuhan yang Maha Esa.
Kunci Pembuka Fitnah Politik UMNO
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 03:05 AM PDT
Perdana Menteri yang juga Presiden Umno telah membuat beberapa kenyataan sempena Perhimpunan Agong Umno 2010 hari ini.
Kenyataan beliau yang paling penting pada hemat saya adalah pengakuan bahawa hak Melayu sudah "terkunci kemas" di dalam Perlembagaan sehingga seandainya mana-mana pihak mempunyai majoriti dua pertiga dalam Parlimen pun tidak mampu mengubah hak Melayu tanpa kebenaran Majlis Raja-Raja.
Oleh itu adalah menjadi tanggungjawab Pakatan Rakyat pula memegang kunci tersebut untuk membuka ruang-ruang baru yang akan mensejahterakan semua rakyat dan mendemokrasikan negara yang berbilang kaum ini.
Kunci ini juga mesti membuka kontrak politik baru dimana undang-undang anti-demokratik seperti ISA, AUKU, PPPA dan sebagainya mestilah dihapuskan segera. Kunci ini juga menentukan bahawa undang-undang anti-demokratik ini tidak lagi diperlukan kerana hak Melayu telah dikunci kemas melainkan undang-undang anti-demokratik bukan sahaja untuk mengunci tetapi merantai rakyat untuk kepentingan Umno sahaja.
Kunci ini juga mendedahkan fitnah politik Umno yang mengatakan bahawa Umno itu Melayu dan Melayu itu Umno tidak benar sama sekali kerana kunci ini terletak di tangan Raja-Raja Melayu yang sebenarnya adalah Raja-Raja semua rakyat Malaysia.
Fitnah politik Umno ini hanya digunakan untuk menguntungkan golongan Umno yang kecil dan memiskinkan rakyat jelata yang ramai seperti yang didedahkan oleh Ketua Pemuda Umno sendiri dimana setelah 53 tahun Merdeka, 60 peratus orang Melayu luar bandar masih dilanda kemiskinan.
Dengan itu saranan Presiden Umno untuk terus mempertahankan Putrajaya sebaliknya menjadi panggilan keramat untuk rakyat membebaskan Putrajaya daripada Umno.
Sudahlah dan cukuplah kerana tiba masanya semua Raja and rakyat memegang kunci ini dan bukan Umno, yang menjadi pemfitnah dan hipokrit perjuangan bangsa.
'Third Force' in Malaysia?
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 02:12 PM PDT
There is currently a clamour in Malaysian politics for a 'Third Force'. While I haven't investigated and determined its origin, I suspect RPK to be the 'promoter' of such a movement. Of course I may be wrong but I'm sure Peter won't mind me pointing my finger at him, for after all, what is kaytee's mere suspicion in comparison to the government's draconian persecutions against him.
I've heard RPK has even become a registered member of the British Liberal-Democrats, the vogue Third Force in that country's political landscape. With RPK you will never know what he is up to, but you can bet he doesn't do things like joining a British political party without a good reason connected with politics back here in Malaysia, or to be more precise, PKR politics and Anwar Ibrahim the politician.
Anyway, my humble opinion (naturally very insignificant when measured against those of blogging giants like RPK) is that it's way way way too early to talk about a 'Third Force' in local politics, for the express reason we need to have two political forces or a two-party state for a considerable time, so that we may tire of both of them before we would, out of frustration with the policies of the two principal parties, visualize, suggest, promote, and embark on forming a 'Third Force'.
In the UK, the voters have been so dissatisfied with both Labour and the Tories for so long, that the Lib-Dem's political fortune has benefitted enormously from the voters' frustration. In Australia, the Democrats used to be the 'Third Force', a party which vowed to 'keep the bastards honest' ('bastards' being the Labour Party and Liberal-National Coalition). Alas, the Democrats has vanished from the Ausssie political scene.
But in the demise of the Australian Democrats lies a lesson, that there's danger in a 'Third Force' getting into political bed with one of the two main parties, as did its leader Senator Meg Lees when she became involved with John Howard's GST. It wasn't the only reason that started the Democrats' downfall but it certainly was the principal one (I'm simplifying the explanation here).
Because the numbers in the Senate were nicely balanced between the two main parties, John Howard's ruling Coalition needed a couple of extra votes in the Upper House to pass legislations, like the GST. Prior to the GST, Independent Senator Brian Harradine was in a position with his single vote to twist the arms of PM John Howard for funding etc for his constituency whenever the PM wanted his support to get a few pieces of legislation through the Upper House. Harradine's disproportionate power must have led Meg Lees to believe the Democrats with its pack of senators would/should be in a far stronger position than Harradine to extract from the PM what the party wants for its constituencies.
She forgot one important factor – her party's supporters wanted the Democrats to continue keeping the bastards honest, but with her involvement with Howard's GST, she and her senators joined the Coalition 'bastards' as well, which spelt the beginning of the end of her party.
OK, back on track - so, please tell me, where's the evidence Malaysia has a stable and mature two-party political system?
Yesterday I posted
Quo Vadis Pakatan, to illustrate the illusion of this loose coalition as a cohesive block of political ideology, policies and personalities ready to offer itself to Malaysia as an alternative government.
Yes, it's recognized that despite its lack of cohesiveness, Pakatan has done well in the last general election and in a number of by-elections, but its victories have been more the bonus of public disenchantment and frustration with the BN. Thus Pakatan has gained numerous seats by default of voters using their ballots against BN rather than for Pakatan. Even Pakatan leaders weren't expecting their 82 seats victory in March 2008.
I just wonder how a Pakatan government would have been formed or progressed from that point, had it gained another 31 extra seats?
No doubt, after several days of shock and disbelief at their unexpected political fortune, the Pakatan squabble would have set in, letting loose the centrifugal forces of ideology and political avarice. Who knows, maybe even 'Malay unity' might have been realized (and I don't have just PAS in mind). That's the frightening possibility, given the unexpected election tsunami vis-à-vis an unprepared and as then, an un-unified Pakatan.
Even after two and one-half years, the Pakatan is still shifting and shaping to become a credible alternative government in waiting. Lamentably, it's one without the consensus and nerve to form one of the fundamentals of an alternative political party, namely, a
shadow cabinet. It evades this vital responsibility for no other reason that it fears the fallout of disagreement over power sharing among coalition members, its disintegration as a coalition.
Thus why talk about a 'Third Force' when there is not even a meaningful 'Second Force'. And even if there is a 'Second Force' why would we require a 'Third Force' if we haven't yet given fair opportunity for its policies to become mature – 2.5 years is hardly a fair spell to evaluate Pakatan's policies and the success of their implementation against our humongous 52-years-deprived expectations.
To wit, there is no such 'two party' system in Malaysia yet – there is only one, namely UMNO and its non-Malay branches, with a scattering of smaller opposition parties like PAS, DAP, PKR and the even smaller PSM, SAPP, unless of course you want to consider PAS as the 2nd, DAP as the 3rd and PKR as the 4th Forces.
Don't forget those zillions of wannabe parties like kimmia, cinta Malaysia, etc wakakaka, all formed for no other reason than their respective leaders hoping to be a senator or deputy minister or even a parliamentary secretary in the BN government.
Then there's HRP or the remnants of Hindraf which believes it can become the dreaded powerful 'Third Force', holding the balance of power and being able to thus threaten its political bête noire, the DAP. Its leaders believe they can still marshal the once powerful force of Hindraf, not realizing most of their erstwhile supporters have returned to the BN banner.
OK, maybe HRP will lose for the DAP a few seats but it'll turn out to be another mosquito party. And the reason for its fall may be traced to the hubris of Uthayakumar who imagined he was a major mover and shaker, and is now more of a vindictive political spoiler.
The only party that could have been a credible 'Second Force' was the 1969 Gerakan Party. Quite frankly, Gerakan could have been the ruling party by 1980 if May 13 didn't occur – which was why May 13 occurred!
Thanks to the cold brilliance and ruthlessness of Tun Razak, and the threat of withholding development funding for Gerakan-ruled Penang, he emasculated Gerakan's potential by absorbing it into the (at that time) new Barisan Nasional. Look at how pathetic Gerakan is today, and that's the political brilliance of UMNO.
But with the formation of BN in 1972, which initially included PAS wakakaka, the DAP became the main 'Second Force' by default, but one which couldn't progress beyond the image the BN propaganda had painted it as, a Chinese party. Even today, some so-called anti BN people are vehemently anti DAP. I suspect it's because those DAP leaders are uncompromisingly disciplined like Spartan ascetics, refuse to be ethnocentric in their policies and generally incorruptible – bugger the DAP, they have very un-Malaysian traits, wakakaka.
Talking about the DAP, I have always lamented about, and been puzzled by Dr Syed Husin's decision when he took his PRM into an incongruous merger with KeADILan. These two are hardly compatible ideologically, because PRM is democratic socialist while KeADILan, basically a splinter party of UMNO, is conservative Malay nationalism or central-right (of course today UMNO is far right!).
Additionally, some former PRM members in PKR have not been happy with Anwar's cozy relationship with arch Zionist neocon Paul Wolfowitz. As I said, PRM and KeADILan were the most incongruous ideological pair for a merger.
The logical choice of a merger partner for Dr Syed Husin's democratic socialist party would have been the PRM's ideological twin, the secular, multi-racial, social democratic/democratic socialist DAP. Such a merger could have the potential to become a very credible 'Second Force'.
Why Dr Husin or Karpal Singh-Lim Kit Siang didn't see this possibility and thus seek a merger remains a puzzle. The nation missed a major opportunity for the emergence of a credible second main party in Malaysian politics a la the 1969 Gerakan.
Today, with PKR reverting back to its UMNO nature, I wonder how those former PRM and ex Suaram members in PKR feel.
Anyway, the existence of a 'Second Force' remains more of hope and optimism than a reality. So why bother to talk about a 'Third Force'?
Maybe RPK has his reason to provoke discussion in that direction. He should (but of course he won't) tell us why. Instead he has aired his outlandish (no doubt pretend) declaration to join Gerakan as a 'Third Force' if only it leaves the BN!
Wakakaka!
UMNO AGM KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak today sounded a strident clarion call for Umno members to defend the administrative capital from Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Although he did not name Anwar in his speech at the Umno annual general assembly here, it was clear that the premier was referring to him when he used the term "traitor".
"Are we willing to give our beloved Malaysia to this traitor of race and nation?" he asked, drawing a thunderous "no" from the audience.
Two years on, Zaid the UMNO trojan horse owe us an explanation for his Traitery ?
doesn't make Najib a PM we can admire, respect, love or trust. too much baggage from 33 years in Umno!are having the paradigm that they still have rights to rape the nation wealth and it's people as their predecessor did.
Umno leaders had constantly branded Anwar, who was once their deputy president and now PKR supremo, as someone who had turned his back on the Malay race.
Anwar, who was sacked as deputy premier in 1998, was also, among others, accused of being an American agent.
In another swipe at the opposition leader and Pakatan Rakyat, Najib said those who trample upon each other for power cannot be trusted to govern the country.
Khairy to irresponsible Mukhriz: what ketuanan Melayu is he talking Only 73 parliamentary seats are dominant Malay majority seats…
"Can we believe Malaysia's success can be maintained by them. Can Malaysians trust those who have shown nothing but the desire to take the throne?" he asked.
to Celestial, you can go on fucking zaid licking barisan
who the fuck is Datuk Zaid Ibrahim?THE SORE LOSER!
Is there anyone in the world you like totally? As in, approve everything about that person, all the time? Even if you are wildly, obsessively in all-consuming love? Even if you have your rose-tinted glasses pushed right back up your nose? Can you honestly say there is nothing at all about your loved one you would rather change?READ MORE UMNO is: Corrupt Incompetent Arrogant.SINGAPORE is ahead of MALAYSIA; because it is run by the PAP: Corrupt, Perverse butCompetent
Najib also called on Umno members to defend Putrajaya at all cost from the opposition onslaught in the next general election, even if it meant laying down their lives.
"Even if our bodies are crushed and our lives lost, brothers and sisters, whatever happens, we must defend Putrajaya," stressed the Umno president.
Malay rights fully protected
Meanwhile, Najib also assured that the privileges and rights of the Malays are fully protected under the Federal Constitution and cannot be disputed, and this fact should be accepted by all races in the country.
He said this fact was agreed upon by the founding fathers representing all the races in the country when it gained independence.
"Even if the two-thirds majority is gained in Parliament, nothing can be changed without the consent of the Council represented by the nine Malay Rulers.
"In other words, it would be pointless to quarrel and use this provision on citizenship to threaten the other races because the provision enshrined is so concrete even if an emergency were to be declared, it still cannot be touched," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
In his speech with the theme 'Empowering the Race to Lead Prosperity', Najib pointed out that efforts by certain groups to question the position of the Malays as a race whose privileges are protected, had clearly caused uneasiness and dissatisfaction towards the Malays who are noted for their accommodating attitude.
"This feeling of discontentment has begun to spread and may destroy the racial harmony which we have nurtured for so long," he said to loud applause from the more than 4,000 delegates and observers.
Najib said that after gaining independence for 53 years and that Malaysians were now facing relentless pressure on the main thrusts in racial relations which had existed all this while, this national polemic could possibly pose a threat to national solidarity.
"What poses a problem under these circumstances is that there will be tension when history is ignored or forgotten as time goes by, or when there are irresponsible groups who try to re-interpret all this to suit their interests or narrow agenda," he said.
Najib said the Malays had actually made the biggest sacrifice to achieve independence, when they were willing to share the ownership of 'Tanah Melayu', which was their motherland, with the other races.
Three phases of recovery
Najib also said that Umno will have to undergo three phases of recovery in order to continue shouldering the responsibility of building the future and empowering the Malays.
First and foremost, he said, Umno should acknowledge weaknesses and problems faced by the party, engage in soul-searching to find the remedies, and thirdly, to launch an efficient party machinery.
"It is important that the party goes through these phases in an orderly and organised manner. Otherwise all the changes and transformation plans will not come to a successful fruition," he said.
"Like it or not, the Malays of this century should face the reality in order to achieve success. What is the use of quota, reserves and permits if these are taken for granted. What is the use of opportunities if they are pawned for short-term gains," he said.
Najib said that to face challenges, Umno would be steadfast in its struggle for the race, religion and country through concrete initiatives, policies and programmes.
"Umno will not forsake the Malays, Umno will not let them be sidelined and become wanderers in their own country. We are committed not only to doing our best but also doing the right thing for the Malays. We cannot afford to be lulled by our past," he said.
Crushed Bodies, Lost Lives, Ethnic Cleansing - Warning from the 1Malaysia PM Najib
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 02:44 AM PDT
Najib warns of 'crushed bodies', 'lost lives', 'ethnic cleansing' if status quo not kept
Wong Choon Mei, Malaysia Chronicle
 In a speech that is bound to raise the already high political-temperature in the country and drive investors further away, Prime Minister Najib Razak used violent language in his opening address to his Umno party, vowing to defend their five-decade stranglehold on the federal government even if it meant crushed bodies and lost lives.
"This is the most shocking and irresponsible statement to come from a PM although many of us in the opposition have been warning of a major showdown. But it also brings to the fore the fact that Najib is not as confident as he pretends to be. In fact, he is desperate because the chances are very high that Umno-BN will lose," PAS central committee member Nizar Jamaluddin told Malaysia Chronicle.
At the 61st Umno annual assembly, Najib – who is the party president – was cheered by members as he led them through reverberating shouts of Hidup Umno (the Malay equivalent of Long Live Umno) three times. Umno pundits had actually been expecting a slightly cooler reaction with many members waiting to grill Najib for his 1Malaysia plan, tepid performance and recent flip-flops on a series of political and economic issues.
"Even if our bodies are crushed and our lives lost, brothers and sisters, whatever happens, we must defend Putrajaya," Malaysiakin reported Najib as saying. Putrajaya is Malaysia's administrative capital.
Racial cleansing
In his hour-long speech, Najib even warned of the possibility of 'racial cleansing' such as in Rwanda and Bosnia if unnamed parties continued to challenge and debate the preferential status now enjoyed by the Malays.
Sivarasa: In response to Zaid Ibrahim's statement "Empowering Keadilan" on Anwar Ibrahim's trial
Press Statement
In response to Zaid Ibrahim's statement "Empowering Keadilan" on Anwar
Ibrahim's trial
20 October 2010
I view with incredulity Zaid Ibrahim's latest unkind salvo against
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), which I sometimes think he forgets is the
party he currently belongs to and is in running for Deputy President.
It is very irresponsible and even malicious for him to suggest that
PKR seems to be a one issue party – keen only to champion Anwar
Ibrahim and his ongoing trial.
This myth he knows is not true and is something that we normally only
hear from UMNO-BN politicians. Over the last decade or so, PKR has
grown tremendously and has played a major part in forging the Pakatan
Rakyat alliance while espousing its true multi-racial brand of
progressive politics, leading to the Pakatan Rakyat's Common Policy
Platform which we believe will pose a strong challenge to the BN in
the next general election.
I am further shocked that Zaid has suggested that by defending Anwar,
the party is unable to defend the rakyat. Again, very UMNO-BN-like
criticism as he knows very well that the party has a good track record
in defending the rakyat on various issues concerning civil, political,
economic, social and cultural rights.
I am sure Zaid is well aware that securing justice for Anwar does not
merely mean providing the best legal defence but involves a campaign
outside court to expose the Government's manipulation of key
institutions to persecute political opponents. Again, this statement
that Anwar has received the best legal defence and therefore there is
nothing else to do – certainly seemed very UMNO-BN-like, and certainly
appalling coming from a PKR leader.
The implication of Anwar's trial if he does not know is that Anwar's
current and previous trials represent all that is wrong with UMNO-BN's
brand of sham democracy – one that enables the government of the day
to make use of all the state machinery including the judiciary,
police, AG's Chambers and even hospitals to manufacture false evidence
and implicate political opponents.
In case Zaid has forgotten, Anwar has spent six years' imprisonment on
trumped up charges, and is once again facing the same fate. Surely it
would be extremely unkind and ungrateful of PKR to suddenly abandon
Anwar just when the party is becoming a major political force in the
country.
I am certainly at a loss to understand Zaid's campaign strategy as he
seems bent on publicly and continuously criticising the party and its
leadership (which I must remind he is also part of) instead of
strengthening the party, and championing the party's policies,
processes and issues including that of UMNO-BN's persecution of Anwar.
GALAS: PAS Akan Kekal Menang Sekiranya Pengundi Luar Pulang Mengundi
Posted: 21 Oct 2010 12:27 AM PDT
Membandingkan keputusan 2004 dan 2008, saya berani berkata faktor kemenangan PAS di Galas adalah pulangnya pengundi yang menetap diluar Kelantan ke Galas untuk mengundi. Hakikatnya, undi BN tidak turun banyak pada 2008 berbanding 2004. Namun, jumlah undi PAS meningkat dengan sebegitu besar berbanding 2008.
Oleh sebab itu keseluruhan ahli dan penyokong PAS yang menjadi pengundi di Galas WAJIB pulang mengundi pada hari itu untuk memastikan BN tidak terus mendapat peluang menjahanamkan Malaysia.
TIdak hairanlah SPR, sebuah agen UMNO, menjadikan hari bukan cuti sebagai hari mengundi. Memang dasar SPR barua UMNO
Pelaburan Asing: UMNO Gelabah, Salahkan Pembangkang Pula
Posted: 20 Oct 2010 11:50 PM PDT
Setelah khabar bahawa Filipina lebih enteng dari segi menarik pelabur asing berbanding Malaysia, UMNO mengambil keputusan menyalahkan pembangkang pula. Kenyataan Mukhriz hanya mendedahkan kekukusutan UMNO di dalam menyelesaikan masaalah kemasukan pelabur asing yang semakin meruncing di Malaysia.
Hakikatnya, pelabur2 asing MENOLAK UMNO. Sekiranya UMNO pergi, maka pelabur asing akan kembali ke Malaysia, inshaalah.
Dengan tiadanya kemasukan pelabur asing, masaalah pengangguran akan semakin meruncing, gaji2 pekerja seluruh Malaysia tidak akan naik dan kuasa membeli semakin mengecil.
Duit minyak kita pun semakin habis kerana Idris Jala kata pada 2011 Malaysia akan menjadi pengimpot minyak.
HAkikatnya, UMNO akan merosakkan serta menjahanamkan Negara kita ini.
Mukhriz hina pelabur tidak datang ke Malaysia
Abdul Aziz Mustafa
KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Okt: Timbalan Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir menghina para pelabur apabila mendakwa mereka tidak datang ke negara ini akibat hasutan pembangkang.
Ahli Jawatankuasa PAS Pusat, Mohamad Sabu berkata, Mukhriz memalukan Malaysia kerana beliau boleh mengakibatkan orang luar menghina Malaysia kerana mempunyai menteri yang tak cerdik.
"Jangan hina pelabur. Mereka tidak bodoh seperti orang menjawab tidak pakai akal.
"Bila pelabur hendak buat keputusan sama ada hendak melabur atau tidak ke negara ini, mereka tidak tanya Presiden PAS. Mereka tanya badan-badan yang diiktiraf seperti Economic Intelligence Unit atau Moody's," katanya mengulas dakwaan Mukhriz di Dewan Rakyat hari ini.
Menjawab soalan Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli (PAS-Kuala Krai) mengenai kejatuhan pelaburan asing sehingga 81 peratus ke negara ini, Mukhriz mendakwa kejatuhan berlaku akibat tindakan pembangkang memburuk-burukkan negara ini di luar negara.
"Dalam keadaan sebahagian besar pelabur sudah tak ada selera untuk melabur di negara ini, tiba-tiba muncul pula seorang yang bertaraf timbalan negeri di negara ini yang nampaknya cuba membayangkan para pelabur bodoh sangat untuk membuat keputusan tentang pelaburan mereka," kata Mohamad.
Katanya, Mukhriz juga kelihatan menyifatkan rakyat terlalu bodoh untuk menelan jawapan seperti itu.
"Saya rasa akhirnya Mukhriz sendiri yang akan dianggap berada dalam tahap kebodohan yang teramat bodoh dengan jawapan itu. Jangankan ahli-ahli Dewan Rakyat di mana beliau memberikan jawapan itu, orang-orang Kampung Kandis di Jerlun pun mentertawakan beliau," katanya.
Mengenai tuduhan Mukhriz bahawa pembangkang tidak patriotik, Mohamad berkata, pihak yang tidak patriotik ialah kaki rasuah yang dilihat oleh rakyat berduyun-duyun di dalam Umno sehingga ayah Mukhriz sendiri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad mengingatkan rakyat bahawa Umno sudah jadi parti perasuah.
"Bila rasuah, untuk mengelakkan hukuman, kuasa disalahgunakan, kebebasan kehakiman dinodai dan pelbagai kejahatan lagi dilakukan.
"Kaki-kaki rasuah itulah, termasuk di dalam Umno, yang tidak patriotik dan menyebabkan pelabur tidak mahu datang ke negara ini," katanya.
