PKR was kept alive all these years because of the memory and idea of an Anwar. The memory of an Anwar that ignited the imagination of many Malaysians. Progressive, modern and pro growth Anwar. The idea of an Anwar who symbolizes the ideals of liberal democracy, the administration of justice, rule of law etc. these two ideas kept the support for Anwar and made PKR.
These ideas attracted many diverse people to PKR according to their levels of understanding. They don't necessarily agree with each other but they have learnt to stay together cemented by the two ideas. The group that will prevail are those who shared these ideals and are willing to subvert personal interests in favor of the ideals.
Somehow Zaid doesn't fit into the scheme of things. Zaid is a highly independent minded individual finding himself in a setting, where he finds he can't have his ways all the time. It takes all kind of people to be in PKR as with other parties. In such a situation, it's the art of living with and making compromises that count more than the weight of personal ideals. Zaid is a man full of personal ideals. He talks and lives them. but the more important question, are these shared by a sufficient mass in PKR than can give him a win.
I am not confident that he has the numbers. We love lovable gadflies and mavericks. These however do not translate into political substance sufficient in turn to give power to Zaid.
THE THIRD FORCE CARTEL dont fuck around Zaid that desperate? better form a new party withRPK,HARRIS IBRAHIM and TUN Mahathir. formidable team
for backing the wrong horse Zaid's manipulation, flip flopping.
Winston Churchill said:
"A lie travels half way around the world before the truth puts on its shoes."
A television broadcast or a newspaper article with misleading or even false facts can be seen by millions long before a statement countering the false allegations can be printed in some remote alternative media. Malaysians must be aware that the country is now in the midst of a political war. Barisan Nasional and its supporters are not fighting according to Queensberry Rules.

Deception, mis- and disinformation and propaganda are not new subjects in politics. As early as the 16th century Machiavelli concluded that there were two means for a nation to gain its objective from an unwilling adversary; force or fraud. Since the application of force entailed expending resources and taking serious risks, Machiavelli strongly recommended that a ruler should "never attempt to win by force what he might otherwise win by fraud".
The Chinese strategist, Sun Tzu wrote in the 4th Century B.C.E. that all warfare is based on deception and devoted an entire chapter on the use of spies. Do you expect Barisan Nasional to ignore Machiavelli and Sun Tzu in their attempt to retain control of their political powers?
Dr. Molly Cheah, Chairman of the Party Election Committee is there to keep their fervour in check. However, if despite the warnings candidates persist with rhetoric that burnt bridges within the party then the members will have to be wary of them. The candidates cannot adopt a slash and burn tactic in an internal party election. Such candidates even if they win will end up with pyrrhic victories. One who is sincere in seeking the job to look after the house cannot in the process of seeking that job burn down the very house one he is aspiring to manage. None of the candidates is Evelyn Salt but some may have been provoked and baited by Evelyn Salt to embark on a misguided scorched earth strategy.
So who is Evelyn Salt? He or she is not acting out of naïve exuberance. He or she is carrying out overt actions for a covert design. The members and public will be able to detect Evelyn Salt as the elections move to the next phase. The running dogs and the sleepers will reveal themselves eventually. He or she is the one who spreads misinformation, disseminates disinformation and instigate agent provocateurs to sow dissent and discord.
Misinformation is incorrect information. One of the most popular forms of misinformation on the internet, especially email is the passing along of urban legends. Urban legends are untrue stories that are passed along by sincere people who believe them and feel the need to inform others. The allegation that the headquarters is involved in irregularities in the party elections is an example of this misinformation. Due to weaknesses in previous administrations, the list of members for each division is incomplete.
The Secretariat instructed each of the divisions to check the accuracy of the members' list for the 2009 annual general meetings in preparation for these 2010 party elections. However, because there were no division elections, there was a lack of interests by both division leaders and the members to confirm the accuracy of the list then. As a consequence those whose names were not in the list of members were not able to vote at the present elections.
Disinformation is the lowest of the low. Never underestimate the evil intentions of some individuals or institutions to say or write whatever suits their particular purpose to the extent of deliberately fabricating false information. Propaganda is generally an appeal to emotion not to intellect. It shares techniques with advertising and public relations. Propaganda seeks to change the way people understand an issue for the purpose of changing their actions and expectations in ways that are desirable to the interest group. Propaganda is part of political warfare. Psychological warfare is one of its weapons.
Propaganda can be classified according to the source and nature of the message. White propaganda generally comes from an openly identified source. Information provided by openly identified BN biased blogs and media is white propaganda. Black propaganda is identified from one source but in fact from another. This is most commonly done to disguise the true origins of the propaganda. Black propaganda and disinformation is fabricated by organizations purporting to convey information in a neutral or impartial manner but is in fact propaganda slanted insidiously towards its own interest group and its personal agenda.
Many associate the special branch as the men in black monitoring opposition party members. It must not be forgotten that the special branch is acknowledged as one of the best agencies in the world. Its ability to infiltrate the Malayan Communist Party ("MCP"), feed false information back to the MCP and to have a special branch agent not only infiltrating the MCP but elected as the second highest ranking official are legends in the world intelligence community. It is the special branch that taught the Americans in the Vietnam War the tactics now known as "Winning the Hearts and Minds of the People".
The infiltrators into KeADILan have taken the playbook from the special branch manual in spreading misinformation, disinformation and black propaganda. Democracy depends on the electorate having adequate and reliable information so that they can make well informed decisions. The crucial key to a successful democracy is not the quantity but the quality of information provided to voters. Little attention has been given to the role of misinformation, disinformation and propaganda in a democracy. There is misinformation, disinformation, propaganda and finally censorship.
The withdrawal of Suara KeADILan's license by the Ministry of Information, the sacking of radio and television broadcasters for airing news unfavorable to Barisan Nasional speaks volumes on the use of these tactics in Malaysia.
An example of the disinformation and black propaganda is the story of the Keadilan leadership being undemocratic and that the headquarters is manipulating the party election by fraudulent means. The Headquarters appointed 120 volunteers to supervise the division elections. The volunteers are from a different state from the divisions holding the elections. They have no interest in the particular division elections and do not even know the members of that division. The allegation of fraud made against these volunteers who man the polling booths from 10.00am to 4.00pm and then count the votes for the 3 senior division posts and 15 committee positions and the same number of positions for the Women and Youth Wings would only be completed by 3.00 am or 4.30 am. This accusation is the unkindest cut of all.
The story of infighting amongst leaders such as Tian Chua with Chua Jui Meng is another piece of disingenuous disinformation. Disinformation can be detected when one compares the story with known and reliable facts. When a story is inconsistent with the known and established facts it must be viewed critically. This story is irreconcilable with established facts. Anwar who was imprisoned for more than six years for an offence that he did not commit, Dr Syed Husin Ali who was incarcerated in solitary confinement for eight years under the ISA, Tian Chua and others who have been detained without trial, can it be conceivable that they would all suddenly changed from waging a struggle for justice and freedom to a struggle for personal power? Chua Jui Meng has not declared any interest in vying for an elected position, so how can there be any disharmony between Chua Jui Meng and Tian Chua?
Malaysians need to be able to discern true information from propaganda, disinformation and deception. This means that one must learn to read, hear or view articles and information from the mainstream media, alternative media and even emails critically. We must analyze the stories with a clear awareness of the point of view they embody, recognizing the attempt to influence our thinking and beliefs.
One must be vigilant that one sided presentations are not the truth. We must seek viewpoints that are dismissed or ignored. One must always ask oneself who is the author of the story, whether the article identifies the source of the information or whether it is from an anonymous source, the purpose for the statements and whether such a story is consistent with the known and trusted information on the person or subject matter of the story. In this information age, it is vital to know how one can be manipulated if one is not sensitive to verifying sources, determining quality, assessing plausibility and apprehending "effects".
The same tactics used by Barisan Nasional against PBS in Sabah are now employed against KeADILan. It had turnover PBS leaders and lured them to cross over with offers of Ministerial positions and the establishment of new political parties. The most effective tactic of overcoming a strong opposition is to use the trusted method of "divide and conquer". The people of Sabah were split when the PBS leaders established new political parties. In the end PBS loss control. It was rendered impotent by defections and establishment of what was deemed as third forces. Sabahans live to regret it to this day.
Those who proposed the formation of a third force on the excuse that KeADILan and Pakatan are weak or ineffective or are purporting to expose its weaknesses to champion the formation of a third force are in fact employing the same tactics used against PBS. These tactics are part of political manipulation. This tactic is commonly referred to as creating a "controlled opposition". This is where the opposition to a party is infiltrated and manipulated until it is taken over and used as a foil to the benefit of the subverting party. It operates either by making a caricature of the opposing party through antics and scandals or by channeling popular opposition to an ultimately futile and demoralizing direction.
The people must remember the saying:
"Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me."
The people must not be fooled again. The people must have faith that the majority of the KeADILan members will have the wisdom and the acumen to choose the right leaders. The people must believe that KeADILan is a rough diamond that will be polished in the crucible of fire by these party elections. It has started its detoxification process. It will overcome its shortcomings and mature into the party needed to lead this nation to a new dawn.
Just like our computers, we must install in our minds anti-virus programmes to filter the information received and block disinformation. It is when the people can detect the lies and deception would the Evelyn Salts and Trojan horses be neutralized and wiped out. The American propaganda failed in Vietnam and those who try the same tricks in Malaysia should fail too. Keep the faith.

Tetapi, apa nak herankan. Perkataan Al Quran tidak disebut pun dalam Perlembagaan UMNO. Bagi UMNO, apa yang ISlam haramkan, tidak semestinya haram bagi UMNO.

After long and in-depth research, full of arduous travel to tedious destinations such as Singapore, Bali, Los Angeles, New York, London and Berlin — with a difficult weekend side-trip to Helsinki — an all-party parliamentary delegation has come to the incontrovertible conclusion that it only rains in India.
The logic is irrefutable. If rain fell on other cities, their roads would also crumple like Commonwealth Games toilet paper. Since no London becomes a moon track with one rainfall, it obviously never rains in London.
Fie on those who think that only Delhi surrenders to water-riven weather. The 'low way' (it began as a highway) between Mussoorie and Delhi is a very democratic drive. It begins in BJP khand, swerves through BSP queendom and then zigzags into Congress empire. This national artery gets a nervous breakdown in Uttarakhand, then descends into nightmarish trauma in UP. By the time it enters Delhi, it has an incurable split personality. It should be renamed after Freud.
We are a curious nation. For nine months we pray for the monsoon, and the moment our prayers are answered, we have no idea what to do. It is as if the showers came once a century rather than once a year.
You don't need to summon Agatha Christie to solve the plot. Most of our roads are constructed for annual destruction, since there is more money to be made in rebuilding than in building. Governments are not merely hand-in-glove with contractors; they are hand-in-pocket. Shared loot is safe loot.
Contractors are not particularly worried about the law; they have lawyers with Satyam on their tongues. A congenial cynic suggested that it was time Parliament passed legislation decreeing that anyone worth more than Rs 1,000 crore would automatically be given bail. Businessmen make money all over the world. The difference is the distance between profit and avarice. The first has limits; greed has none.
In our country, corruption has become mainstream; honesty is a rivulet, which is why the System has developed such sophisticated expertise at deflecting street anger. The game is played out in full public view, and we do not see hypocrisy trapping us in slow motion.
What does the System do when it does not have an answer? It changes the question.
Witness how the rage against corruption in CWG has been manoeuvred into a debate on whether they can be held successfully. Who was responsible for this delay in the first place? Even this question has been diverted. The Organizing Committee, reorganized with some sticking plaster, is being reinvented from villain to victim of mysterious forces. We do not know if any race in CWG will see a nail-biting finish, but certainly the preparation has acquired a nail-biting dénouement.
Fudge is offered instead of explanation. The previous government, it is declared in stentorian tones, took the decision to hold the Games in Delhi. So? The previous government did not decide to hire treadmills for a few weeks at many times their retail price. Instead of treadmills, we have treadmillionaires.
A committee of 10 wise bureaucrats is appointed as the scourge to destroy evil and shepherd the Games towards a shining heaven. What has the committee been tasked to do? To "solve coordination problems…ensure completion…furnish progress reports…tie up loose ends". In other words, to do within 45 days what should have been done over 45 months.
The simple fact is that they cannot take any decisions because all the decisions have already been taken during The Era of Evil — apart perhaps from a catering contract and sponsorship, the second of which is a revenue decision rather than a spending one. A government committee, incidentally, will provide excellent cover for the return of public sector sponsors.
The critical issue lies elsewhere. Indians are not against the Games; they are against corruption in the Games. Can this committee reverse any of the deals that have been exposed remorselessly by media? Will it return, without payment, the treadmills to those who have become treadmillionaires? Sanctimonious noises about the guilty being punished after the event are meaningless. How? If a contract has been sealed at a particular price by mutual consent, and then executed, how can the contractor be held guilty of malpractice? This is more dust in the eyes of a nation already semi-blind with sleaze.
Suresh Kalmadi was quite right to flash a V-sign after the "accountability" meeting at the Prime Minister's residence on Thursday afternoon. The scapegoats in his committee have paid the necessary price. None of their decisions have been altered, since there were too many others clinging to the food chain. Nothing has changed, apart from the touch of a few cosmetics that barely hide the accumulated debris of deals. Long live the System.
bid for the UEM Group and the PLUS highway concessionaire via his flagship MMC Corp has heightened perception that the billionaire tycoon is amassing unusually large stakes in strategic national economic assets.

I wonder how old she is?
She is certainly sweet looking!
But as PKR's deputy president?
Quite frankly I had thought VP was already too high a position for her. Maybe a central committe member but VP or DP?
But Zaid Ibrahim backs her. We have read that, unlike her father's commitment to Azmin Ali, she has been supportive of Zaid, indicating a split in the family perception of who in the party should go up. So there appears to be some reciprocity and mutual support between them.

BN/Umno in their desperation to smear and discredit the Pakatan Rakyat Government in Penang by claiming that the RM 100 given to Senior Citizens in the State as 'Haram' (forbidden) have actually opened a Pandorra's Box.
BN/Umno claimed that the fund for the RM 100 contribution came from the Penang Turf Club eventhough this has been denied by the Penang Government. If contributions from so-called 'Haram' fumds cannot be received by Muslims, then most of the taxes collected by the Malaysian Government must be 'Haram' too. The Malaysian Government like any other Government in the world need to collect taxes to run the country. It is interesting to note that a large portion of Malaysia's GDP comes from so-called Haram activities. Here are some examples.
1 Hotels - They serve liquor to their guests, this makes taxes paid by Hotels are
2. Airlines - They serve liquor too. Their taxes are Haram too.
3. Chinese and Indian restaurants / coffee shops serve liquor too apart from selling
non Halal food. Tax collected here also Haram.
4. Cigarette companies pay taxes too. They too are Haram.
5. Banks / Finance companies - Their taxes are Haram too as they charge interest.
6. Supermarkets - Their taxes are Haram too as they also sell liquor and non Halal
7. The non Halal food industry taxes are Haram too.
8. Tax collected from import of non Halal food and liquor is also Haram.
By just looking at the above list, how on earth does one expect the Malaysian Government to function if we are to go by Umno's Moronic logic on all things Haram and Halal. Or should the Government use taxes collected from the above mention Haram taxes for non Muslims only as being suggested by many. This would also mean that the Malays will never get the 30% Bumiputra equity target as this would mean owning something that in not Halal. The Government will not be able to use monetary policy to strengthen the economy as interest is Haram in Islam.

Cindy of audie61 received a call from her former malaysiakini colleague,"Ada dengar tak,Calon BN N45 mungkin blogger. Tahu Siapa..?? Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz " Kickdefella blog" Ada juga nama2 lain yang di sebut. OK .
The name of Kickdefella is enough to send reverberations up the spine of PAS as lately his posting has been very critical of PAS. He was once a a close associate of Kelantan PAS Deputy Commissioner II Husam Musa – had a much-publicised fallout with PAS last year. There are also other names which have been mentioned.
The lists of potential candidates and names started cropping up when it was reported that MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who himself was expected to be fielded as the BN candidate, he, as the BN and Umno election director, was believed to be inclined to choose another candidate.
Thus besides Kickdefella the others in the running are Gua Musang Umno secretary Abdul Aziz Yusof Gua Musang Umno Youth vice-chief Zamzani Harun Gua Musang Wanita and Youth wings Wan Hazani Mohd Nor and Bazlan Baharuddin.
It will be interesting to see whether UMNO will choose a Blogger to represent them instead of practising from the traditional and normal political platform.
WILL THEY JUST DO IT THIS TIME AT N45..???

Ex-IGP Musa Hassan and Bukit Aman's director of CID Bakri Zinin were ordered to be present at the Kuala Lumpur High Court at 8.30am, 28 Oct. Both were accused of contempt following the police's decision to re-arrest two youths whom the High Court here had ordered to be released from detention under the Emergency Ordinance (EO).
Good decision by Justice Mohd Sofian Razak when dismissing the argument of senior federal counsel Najib Zakaria, that nobody is above the law.
R Muniyandi, 26, from Kluang and B Sasinthiran, 28, of Kuala Selangor, were detained under the EO for their alleged involvement in gangsterism and other criminal related activities.
The duo had succeded in obtaining a habeas corpus writ from the High Court here but were re-arrested immediatly after they stepped out from the Simpang Renggam detention centre in Johor.
On Sept 30, both men had succeeded in their application to initiate contempt proceedings against Musa and Bakri for not complying with the court's order to release them.
Musa is currently performing umrah.

Thanks to Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) in Jalan Imbi, the homeless, the jobless and the hungry now have a place to go to for a hot meal. Barely a month at its new premises, KSK is already drawing long queues every weekday from 11am to 1pm. The menu changes each day depending on what KSK receives from the sponsors. On the day that I visited, each client received not only a generous portion of steaming hot rice with two vegetable dishes, but also a bag containing a loaf of bread, biscuits, a packet drink, a bottle of mineral water and a fruit.
Volunteers busy preparing hot meals and food bags.
Continuous stream of people queuing up for food at the soup kitchen.
KSK's modest medical consultation cum counselling room.
Here's KSK Project Director Justin Cheah doing the laundry for the homeless. This is truly service beyond self.
On Saturday nights, KSK volunteers go out in teams of 3-5 to pre-designated areas e.g. Chow Kit, Pudu Market, Petaling Street, Brickfields and Bukit Bintang, to distribute meals and food packages. Last Saturday blankets were also among the items distributed to the homeless. That night it was cold and wet after hours of heavy rain. The blankets were heaven-sent to those who received them.
Many hands make fast work. Volunteers busy preparing the food items for the Saturday night distribution routes.
Almost ready to go. Note the blankets to be given away as well.
For these homeless street people their beds are cardboard pieces, and the clothes on their backs are the only ones they have. None of those that I gave food to asked whether the food was halal, whether the sponsors were Christian, Muslim or Buddhist, or whether the gift packages were bought with money from gambling revenues. These were of little significance to them.
The hungry, poor and homeless don't ask questions. They are grateful for what they receive. Neither do KSK volunteers ask the clients for their personal particulars. They are happy to serve all, regardless of race, creed or religion. (Note: KSK serves only vegetarian meals.)
The story behind Kechara is closely tied to its founder and spiritual guide H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche who first visited Malaysia in 1992. Today, 18 years down the road, Kechara continues to grow from strength to strength. It now has 13 departments ranging from publications to lodgings, and has plans to add more over the next few years. KSK's long-term goal is to set up a Nurture Centre where the homeless will be trained and equipped with skills to enable them to find jobs.
Volunteers listen to a briefing before setting off on the night rounds. They are taught how best to approach the homeless, and how to offer assistance if required.
Kechara's website is a veritable treasure-house of everything you may want to know about the organization, and more. Check it out and be amazed at what Kechara has achieved in such a short period of time.
If you would like to help out at the soup kitchen or on the food distribution routes, please contact Justin Cheah at +6012 203 2135 or email him at email@example.com. Kechara also welcomes sponsorship for its food programme. Click here for Kechara's wish list.

Quite a bunch of us ordinary folks were quite stunned by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozmi Ismail when she announced that Mat Rempits are the results of hormonal activity. Worse, she finished by saying that Rempits were an unstoppable activity and we can only hope that the youngsters will become responsible once they have passed adolescence. That last bit prompted scores of incredulous comments from Malaysians especially parents and ex-victims of Rempit activity. But the best comment came from my friend, Steve which I would like to share with you here......
I'll tell you a true story. I was in Bandung a few years ago and noticed a sizeable motorcycle population. I asked my taxi driver whether they ever had a "Mat Rempit" problem. I had to explain what Mat Rempit was of course. He said "Yes, but its all stopped now". I asked how it was solved, and he said very nonchalantly "Polisi tembak". I kid you not.
And to think they send us their people to work as maids?

Buyers of pirated DVDs and VCDs will be fined five times the price of the genuine products once the Copyright Act is amended.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the ministry was hoping to table the proposal for first reading in Parliament, in the coming sitting beginning next week.
"Currently, the Act only allows us to take action against pirated DVD sellers but not those who buy these products. We hope that with the amendment to the Act, we will be able to curb the piracy issue in the country," he told reporters after attending the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia Hari Raya open house here Thursday.
On how the ministry would carry the enforcement once the Act was amended and whether house-to-house raids would be conducted, Ismail Sabri said the details were being planned.
He said the ministry would also work with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to stop illegal downloading from the Internet.
"We will work with MCMC to see if we can bar those involved in illegal downloading from accessing the Internet," he said.
Ismail Sabri said another amendment of the Copyright Act would also involve the collection of royalty.
"The Act will be amended to make it compulsory for all companies which collect royalty payments to register with our ministry. There must also be an agreement between these companies and the artistes involved to allow the former to collect the royalty," he said.
He said other intellectual property related laws like the Industrial Design Act, Patent Act and Trademark Act were also scheduled to be tabled for first reading in the coming Parliament sitting.
In April, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said the amendments would not only tighten the enforcement of intellectual property rights but also protect small and medium enterpreneurs as well as the creative and entertainment industry.
