Hmmmm.... Muhyiddin...

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 03:31 PM PDT

Why all of a sudden? Tan Sri Muhyiddin said on Tuesday that his relationship with Datuk Seri Najib remains strong, and that rumours about a rift were unfounded.

Nobody asked him about it. No reporters asked him to comment on the subject at a book launching ceremony yesterday. But why did he?

I dont wish to write any further as I dont want to add anything to the rumours or to spark anything that could lead to more speculations.

Its the start of Ramadan and I dont want to spoil my day. Anyway, 'takda angin, takkan pohon bergoyang...'

Another Weekend At Sham's Sanctuary

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 02:51 PM PDT

Last weekend was spent in Ulu Langat at Sham's Sanctuary and the last time we were there was in February 2010.

Apart from the usual suspects Major Sham, Colonels Mike Naser, Shaik and Shafique, and General Dato' Amin, we had Colonel Sheikh "Bill" Tawfiq and Tigers KC Heah, Chris Cheng, Hamdan Azmir and Kamarul Shahrin.

It was another weekend of great company, food and drink (in that order) and this time around it was a rather sober occasion (we must all be getting old). Only about 12 bottles of wine, a bottle of whiskey and two cases of beer for the whole weekend (Friday evening till Sunday morning).

Food was again exceptional but with Annie (Mrs Sham) indisposed, variety and quantity were unlike last February. Nevertheless, Friday dinner was steamboat with two kinds (hot and sour tom yam and savory dragon fruit) of soup. There were also the customary Thai Miang Kham and cheese platter. It is fruit season and we had lovely durians, bananas, rambutans and dukong langsat from Sham's orchard.

Saturday morning breakfast was kampung nasi lemak and apart from the nicely cooked nasi and sambal accompaniment we had deepfried catfish slices cooked in chilli. Sheikh "Bill" Tawfiq arrived in time with one of the best sambal sotong in town (prepared with love by his better half; as he puts it).

It was a lazy Saturday afternoon with some trying to catch up on sleep lost the previous night. Shafique was the main hero. Chris Cheng arrived with her son (and a delightful orange cake) in time for tuna sandwiches prepared by Mike.

This time around we had the irrepressible Sheikh Tawfiq whose non-stop supply of jokes and anecdotes for every occasion kept everyone in stiches. That was before he took out his Yamaha keyboard and began belting out songs of yesteryear for the rest of the day and night! Not bad for a guy who plays by ear. When he finally went to sleep at 3.00 am even the crikets were intimidated into silence; late night at Sham's Sanctuary probably has never been so quiet...apart from the droning orchestra of muffled snores of course.

BBQ on Saturday was again Colonel Mike's show and it was as usual, excellent. This time around he served grilled chicken drumsticks wrapped in beef bacon, mashed potato topped with caviar, relish wrapped boneless NZ lamb, lemon sorbet, grilled Portobello mushrooms, peaches and ice-cream...and more! The lamb was simply scrumptious! Again, Mike was the chef and I was the cook.

Annie returned home that Saturday night with a pot of mutton curry with murungakai and it was not only the first time I had seen mutton curry cooked with "drumsticks", it has to be right up there among the best I have tasted!

Apart from being an analyst with TMB, Tiger Kamarul Shahrin is a talented photographer. He had brought his arsenal of expensive, high-end photographic equipment and I thought we were going to be treated to  numerous professionally taken records of the weekend's proceedings. I was right with "professionally taken" but totally wrong with "numerous"! The bugger only took a handful of shots! He says an artist deals in rarity! Shit!!! So if this time around this blogpost contains fewer photos (low quality from the phonecam) it should be compensated by some breath-taking shots by Shahrin (you will know which ones they are by just looking). Hopefully, more pictures can be posted up later if I receive them from the other camera owners present.

...More photos to be added soon

Stupid Sarawakians

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 10:35 AM PDT

I personally know quite a few Sarawakians. Judging from the limelight Sarawak Chief Minister has been getting about his alleged wealth, this latest from the Sarawak Report makes it no longer "alleged". It also makes Sarawakians who have given Taib Mahmud landslide victories for almost three decades, look STUPID!

Sarawakians, do read how stupid you have been and you continue to let the Penans get screwed (literally and figuratively), amongst other things. Then ask yourselves this; "If Taib Mahmud made so much, what about all the other stars in PBB?"

Having said that, what about Musa Aman in Sabah? Then we look across the South China Sea and we see Daim Zainuddin and the whole Barisan Nasional coterie. Damn it!!! Malaysians ARE Stupid!!!

Monday, August 9th, 2010 GMT

Sarawak Report has uncovered devastating documents which prove that Abdul Taib Mahmud, Sarawak's Chief Minister, is the real owner of millions of dollars of property assets held in the name of family members abroad.

Held in trust by private agreement - 50% of the shares of Sakti International, worth approximately US$ 40 million.

The damning discovery lays bare a system of private deals, which enabled the Chief Minister to conceal his true ownership of the properties. This was presumably in order to hide the extent of his enormous wealth, for which he has yet to provide any legitimate explanation.

Under the system, whilst it is Taib's relatives who are publicly registered as the official shareholders and directors of the companies owning the properties, a separate, private agreement ensures that the shares are actually held in trust for him.

Documentary evidence of elaborate concealment

260 California Street, San Francisco - Bijou Sakti Office Block

Among documents in its possession Sarawak Report has a copy of one such private agreement (see above) relating to the shares in Sakti International, a company that owns buildings in San Francisco. Sakti is part of a web of companies started in North America by the Taibs, which includes Sakto, a major Ottawa property company, and Wallysons, which owns the Abraham Lincoln Building in Seattle, housing a top secret anti-terrorist facility for the FBI.

The five official shareholders of Sakti International, which is registered in California, are Taib's brothers, Onn Mahmud and Arip Mahmud, along with three of his children, Sulaiman Taib, Mahmud Taib and Jamilah Taib. However, as the document which we have obtained shows, a resolution made soon after the formation of the company has privately ruled that half those shares (a commanding majority) are held in trust for the Chief Minister. The value of these shares amounts to 40 million US dollars for Sakti alone, according to the company's own documents.

Tip of the iceberg?

However, Sakti International, estimated to be worth US $80 million, accounts for just a small proportion of the Taib family wealth. Our previous exposes have revealed a vast portfolio of further international property assets, which are owned by members of Taib Mahmud's immediate family. For example, Taib's own children are the shareholders and directors of numerous companies controlling residential and commercial buildings in Canada, Australia, Britain and the United States together worth hundreds of millions of US dollars. Yet, suspiciously, many of these assets came into their possession when they were in their early 20s and still college students with no visible access to legitimate resources to invest. The inevitable question for Taib Mahmud, therefore, is whether, as in the case of Sakti International, they are also secretly holding these other properties in trust for him? If not, what explanation can there be for these investments?

Golden Wedding Couple - The Godfather and his family

A number of reports have already been made to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the recent disclosures of the Taib family wealth. These new revelations proving the direct link to the Chief Minister will increase the pressure on the MACC to respond with a proper investigation.

Further Fingerprints

The Sakti International documents in our possession, released as part of the disclosure in a recent court case, provide further extensive evidence of Taib Mahmud's involvement in the company, despite his denials of any business connections. Indeed one of the company's earliest official documents, signed in 1987, even lists him as one of the Directors of Sakti International.

Chief Minister's name in black and white, listed as a Director Of Sakti International

The document in question is a Domestic Stock Corporation Statement for Sakti International, which is required annually by the State of California. In 1987, the year the company was set up, its inaugural statement clearly registers Taib Mahmud, along with his brothers Onn Mahmud and Arip Mahmud, as a Director of the company. The only officer of the company is listed as Mahmud Taib, the Chief Minister's eldest son.

It is well-known that in subsequent Taib family enterprises the Chief Minister has always scrupulously avoided including his own name in any documentation. This early mistake will undermine his constant claims that, in keeping with his role as Chief Minister, he has no direct business interests. It is clear that he in fact set up Sakti International, using the address of his own house in San Francisco.

Cover Up

Subsequently, records show that the structure of the company was altered to make Onn, Arip and Mahmud Taib the three Directors, while Rahman became the only officer of the company. But, as we are now able to exclusively report, Taib Mahmud secretly retained his control through a resolution by the company directors dated April 8th 1988. This resolution (see top) placed 500 of the 1,000 shares issued by the company in trust for him.

The Godfather

The Sakti documents give a fascinating insight into the manipulative methods used by Taib Mahmud to control his family members, who are supposedly the earners and 'businessmen' who have generated the Taibs' legendary wealth. The five relatives who were selected to own shares in Sakti International were each been given a different number of shares. Each then surrendered differing proportions of these shares to be held in trust for the Chief Minister.

Brother Onn Mahmud gets 400 shares, but of them 200 are held for the Chief Minister, whereas brother Arip gets just 200 shares, 100 of which are in trust for Taib. Mahmud Taib has the same arrangement ast Arip. However younger brother, Sulaiman Rahman Taib, who was later made sole Director of Sakti, only gets 100 shares under the agreement and they are all in fact held in trust for his father. Daughter Jamilah also only gets 100 shares, but she gets to hold them all herself.

The system ensures that Taib Mahmud has half of all the shares held in trust for himself, whereas none of the others hold more than 200 shares. In this way he clearly keeps a commanding control over the company he pretends not to own.

Classic Car on Standby - Vintage Ferrari kept ready for Chief Minister's occasional visits to 43 Presidio Avenue. Son Rahman Taib, who shared his father's interest requested a 4,000 square foot garage to house his car collection in the States

Taib in charge

Former employees of Sakti have testified to the controling position the Chief Minister holds over the other members of the family. Rahman, as he was known in the States, was still in college when he became sole Director of Sakti and has been described as being in awe of his father, whom he once had to wait a week to get a meeting with.

"We always considered Taib to be the ultimate boss and decision-maker" one former executive has told Sarawak Report, "It was obvious that he was the source of the money and Rahman was extremely deferential towards him".

Where did the money come from?

The Chief Minister has so far made no comment on the string of recent exposes regarding his wealth. However, this new evidence will increase the widespread demands for him to explain how he and his family accrued the millions necessary to acquire such investments. Taib's personal salary from his numerous concurrent positions still only delivers an official income of just under 50,000 MYR (around US $16,000) a month.

Multi-billionaire? Chief Minister's finances beg immediate scrutiny

In past weeks the existence of Ridgeford Properties in London and Sakto Corporation in Ontario, Canada have also been made public (see previous exposes on Sarawak Report). These companies own and manage numerous office blocks worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Ostensibly the Directors and owners of these concerns are Jamilah Taib and her husband Sean (Hisham) Murray, a Canadian national. However, like Sakti, Sakto was originally set up under the names of Taib family members, not Mr Murray.

Although numerous members of Sean Murray's family now work for Sakto, all the evidence indicates that these are in fact Taib family businesses, ultimately controlled by the Chief Minister of Sarawak.

Surely the weight of evidence is now such that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will be unable to ignore the deluge of demands requiring thorough investigation into Sarawak's White Haired Raja?

RPK allow me to come to the real issue. that Saiful Bukhari Azlan and Farah Azlina Latif

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 09:05 AM PDT

What we need in this time of uncertainty is not more technology, but more human relations, more understanding of different perspectives and working with that to achieve peace and social justice.

This man was a "judge" of man, some kind of judge? Now he faces GOD, THE CREATOR, THE GREATEST EQUALISER, THE ALMIGHTY and THE SUPREME DIVINE JUDGE OF ALL MEN AND THE UNIVERSE, who will consider his "credentials" (if any) irrelevant! What is relevant is how he judged others. Did he uphold his oath of office with impartiality, PURE CONSCIENCE, prudence and good faith? Only God knows.

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Now that the court has delivered its decision — that Saiful Bukhari Azlan and Farah Azlina Latif would not be called to testify with regards to their sexual relationship — allow me to come to the real issue.

Yes, the sexual escapade between Saiful and Farah is not what I was targeting at. That was actually the Red Herring to draw them out and make them run round in circles in panic. And, boy, did they panic. Putrajaya was so flustered that even an attack on Johor by the Singapore armed forces could not have outdone that.

But now everything has settled down again. Yesterday, everyone, in particular those in Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak's office, have breathed a sigh of relief. With the court's ruling blocking Saiful and Farah from testifying with regards to their relationship they feel they are now well protected.

Well, if that was my main target then maybe so. It would mean they are quite secure. But that was not my main target. That was merely a distraction to get them to fluster for awhile and just when they thought it is now safe to go into the water, as they would say in 'Jaws', I spring them with what I was really aiming for.

Before that, do you remember Datuk Syed Abdul Rahman Alhabshi? He is the Mongolian Honorary Consul to Malaysia who escorted Altantuya's family whenever they were in Malaysia and who held a few press conferences condemning the Malaysian government with regards to how it was conducting the Altantuya murder investigation.

Syed Rahman was very vocal. He practically accused the Malaysian police of covering up crucial facts of the murder. He even threatened to take legal action against Malaysia.

Syed Rahman was on a crusade. He was angry and wanted to expose the real culprits behind Altantuya's murder. He met Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Anwar Ibrahim, and many other political leaders to complain about what was going on. He actually mentioned Najib by name and declared that he had in his possession the photograph of Najib, Razak Baginda and Altantuya, which he had handed over to the IGP.

Yes, there was much which Syed Rahman alleged. And in his crusade to bring the real murderers to book he met many people and told them this story over and over again.

I was there together with Datuk Kamal Amir, Aspan Alias and Jaddawi Datuk Ghazali (all Umno people) in the Bangsar Shopping Centre when Syed Rahman spent about an hour briefing us on the entire facts of the murder. In fact, there were about 15 of us there that day, all relishing the 'insider information' that this Honorary Consul was giving us.

  • the double faced honorary consul of mongolia: altantuya's father gave all the pictures, notebooks, films, computer files – to the double faced syed rahman

After the murder of Altantuya, a charitable soul contacted Shaaribuu Setev, the father of the young woman : Datuk Syed, honorary consul of Mongolia in Malaysia. "I am ready to do everything to help you", said the diplomat to Shaaribuu Setev. His dedication even pushed the amicable Datuk Syed to make revelations to the father. "The Malaysian governement is ready to spend one billion of tughrik (mongolian currency, equivalent to 500,000 euros) to cover up the case"

Then, during the Permatang Pauh by-election in 2008, Syed Rahman did a u-turn. He went on primetime TV and declared that the allegation of Najib's involvement with Altantuya is a downright lie. And he denied he had told people so.

There are hundreds of people all over Malaysia who can testify to the fact that Syed Rahman did tell them that Najib was involved with Altantuya and that Syed Rahman admitted he had handed the photograph that proves this to the IGP. But all that is now water under the bridge and is old news. What we want to talk about today is the relationship between Najib's office and Saiful.

Do you remember the photograph below of Saiful and Khairil Annas bin Jusoh, Najib's aide, which Malaysia Today published in 2008, mere days after the Sodomy 2 allegation against Anwar Ibrahim surfaced?

What is the relationship between Saiful and Khairil? Khairil says Saiful went to Najib's office to apply for a scholarship and he says they met only that once. Malaysia Today said that that was not true and that there is something more than that going on between Khairil and Saiful that has nothing to do with a scholarship.RELATED ARTICLE

Khairil is a graduate of the International Islamic University (UIA) and all his contemporaries in UIA know about his gay tendencies. A number of his university mates have confirmed this, as have his secondary school mates from Sekolah Alam Shah.

On 30 June 2010, Khairil got married to Syed Rahman's daughter, Syarifah Nabila Sara. Yes, that's right, our Mongolian Honorary Consul to Malaysia is now the father-in-law to Najib's aide, Khairil. However, barely a month later, Syarifah Nabila went home to her father. They are not quite divorced yet but divorce is certainly on the cards.

And why did Syarifah Nabila leave her matrimonial home to return to her parent's home in a huff? Simple. She is not happy that her husband is AC-DC, just like Saiful. For the benefit of the less savvy readers that means bi-sexual.

Yes, Khairil, just like Saiful, likes it both ways. And Syarifah Nabila is very upset that her husband is using their bed for trysts with boys. Having sex with boys is one thing. Bringing them home to your matrimonial bed is another — Khairil's wife can't accept that.

So what do we have here? Najib's aide is married to the Mongolian Honorary Consul's daughter. The daughter wants an end to the marriage after merely a month because her husband likes boys and brings them home to their bed. The gay aide also has links with the gay man who has accused Anwar of sodomising him. And this same 'sodomy victim' also has a sexual relationship with the deputy public prosecutor in Anwar's trial.

Even Peyton Place is not as complicating as this. And do they not say that the truth is even stranger than fiction?

Let's see them wangle out of this one.

Queensland University political scientist David Martin Jones, currently working in Malaysia, says: "There is now an interesting collection of scandals dating from the first Anwar case in 1998 that coincides with the fragmentation of Umno-controlled politics."

"For the second time," Danby said, "the Malaysian legal system is being manipulated by supporters of the incumbent government to drive Malaysia's best-known leader, Anwar Ibrahim, out of national politics.

"For the second time, documents are being forged, witnesses are being coerced, and evidence is being fabricated. This trial, like the first trial, is a disgrace to Malaysia, a country that aspires to democratic norms."

General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail told reporters today that the junior prosecutor was removed to prevent negative public perception of the Sodomy II prosecution team "The Attorney-General's Chambers cannot compromise on any issue that can tarnish the image or credibility of the department and we are looking at such matters very seriously

"This can be very difficult for us but any personal matter if it can have any implication in whatever form on the department will be handled very seriously " he told reporters at a press conference at his office here.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail told reporters today that the junior prosecutor was removed to prevent negative public perception of the Sodomy II prosecution team.

In the run-up to Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial, his lawyers including senior counsel Sivarasa Rasiah had warned that in the end the government would try to nail the Opposition Leader based on fabricated DNA evidence.

And it looks like they may have guessed correctly.

On Thursday, lead prosecutor Mohd Yusof Zainal Abidin managed to get Dr Mohd Razali Ibrahim, one of three HKL doctors who examined complainant Saiful Bukhari Azlan, to stun the Court by agreeing that there was anal penetration.

"With all these reports I have now, there is evidence of penetration even without clinical injuries found on the complainant," Mohd Razali said.

No, he did not reverse or overturn his own HKL medical report, which in fact, he stood by. Corroborated by two colleagues, the report had stated there were no conclusive clinical findings suggesting there was penetration of the anus nor were there any significant defensive wound on the complainant's body.

A second medical report from Hospital Pusrawi also came to the same conclusion. Why then did Dr Mohd Razali, who has handled more than 100 cases involving the anal area, tell the Court that he "would say there was penile penetration"?

Malaysia Chronicle spoke to Sivarasa who explained that it was because Mohd Razali was making an inference based on the Chemistry Department's report and not from his own direct evidence, which is the HKL medical report.

"Mohd Razali has no right to make such an inference as it is outside his scope. He is responsible only for his own medical examination and report, which he has confirmed. He stands by the HKL report which states very clearly there were no signs of penetration," Sivarasa said.

"But based on the Chemistry Department's report of having found semen on the swabs, Dr Mohd Razali put two and two together and now he claims there was penetration. Obviously, we will ask the Court to reject this inference and focus on the doctor's direct evidence, which I repeat is the HKL medical report.

"The chemistry report is none of his business. It is the Chemistry Department which is responsible for the identification of the semen and DNA samples and not the Dr Mohd Razali. Any inference on this aspect should come from the Chemistry Department as it is their direct evidence, not Razali's."

During Anwar's first sodomy trial in 1998, the Chemistry Department found semen on a mattress but the findings were so weak that during cross-examination, its testimony was discredited and had to be rejected by the Court.

Dr Mohd Razali will be cross-examined by the defense soon, while the Chemistry Department has yet to testify.

Nevertheless, the doctor's sensational testimony has stirred up a media storm with the mainstream media quick to insinuate that the medical evidence did indeed show penetration.

"Not true at all. As I said, Razali actually confirmed the HKL medical report that there was no evidence of penetration. He only deduced there was penetration when he was asked by the prosecutor to take into account the Chemistry Department's report and he should not do that," Sivarasa said.

Karpal had wanted more time for preparation in light of Dr Razali's testimony today.

Another lawyer, Sankara Nair, agreed with this.

"This is an ambush, unprofessional prosecution. I want time. What the doctor has said just now is merely an assumption during examination-in-chief.

"He is just a general surgeon. He says he's seen many [posteriors], [it] doesn't make him an expert. We will ask him why he didn't know (about the swab samples)," said Sankara.

Anwar claimed "two or three semen samples" were found on Saiful. But Anwar said he was not surprised by the doctor's testimony.

The Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader claimed that there were "two or three semen samples" found on Saiful, but did not elaborate any further.

"The question is, whose semen is this? You'd be surprised to know whose semen is it from," said Anwar.

Earlier on in court, Karpal claimed that Anwar was in unit 11-5-2 of the Desa Damansara Condominium during the time of the alleged sodomy, not in 11-5-1 as Saiful had claimed.

This did not sit well with Saiful, who insisted that Anwar was with him in unit 11-5-1 at the time.

"No, your honour, it's not true," said Saiful.

Karpal also stressed that this would be the defence team's strategy.

"Our defence is alibi," said Karpal.

Anwar, the 62-year-old PKR de facto leader, is charged with sodomising Saiful at Unit 11-5-1 of the Desa Damansara Condominium in Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara here between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.

The former deputy prime minister has denied the charge, describing it as "evil, frivolous lies by those in power"

N64 Sarawak “A Fiery Battle”

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 08:46 AM PDT

N64 Sarawak in the next election will see a fiery battle between two known nemesis in Incumbent SUPP YB Andy Chia and DAP Miri Chairman Fong Pau Teck. The above photo speaks for itself and on the gound level it has already sparked some "reactions"

audie61 was also on site in Miri to see the extend of the devastation where Fire broke out on Sunday night and destroyed 46 houses and made 296 people and 59 families homeless.

DAP Fong asked a very provoking question to YB Andy which was overheard by audie61,"Now,What are you going to do..?" YB being his calm self, though a bit more than being mere agitated, he did not create a scene especially with so much sorrow in evidence.

However he just told the press present,"We have taken immediate relief action and we let our actions do the talking."

The quick action on the night in question especially at the height of the Fire has propelled YB Andy's negative rating of 49% by the polls conducted on the ground to a much respectable 53% as an incumbent Yb.

According to many political analysts the DAP candidate has indeed shot himself in the foot eventhough he has been seen to be" championing the cause of the people and being the voice of opposition in PUJUT by checking the BN government."

He has indeed losts a HUGE CHUNK OF HIS GOOD WORK BY THE OUTBREAK OF THE FIRE. He has indeed picked the right time to show..

Sathiya Jalan Pasar ~ Sidewalk Trader with a Golden Heart!

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 01:46 PM PDT

Dear fellow Malaysians,
Would you believe that in these times, there still exist someone as generous as Sathiya, a sidewalk mobile phone trader, who has been giving away free drinks and food to passersby at Jalan Pasar, Kuala Lumpur's famous shoppers paradise where you can get practically whatever your heart desires especially where the latest gadgets and telecommunication devices are sold at a price that most can afford?

In these End Times when goodnaturedness was said to be on the way out just like many endangered species of flora and fauna, Sathiya's selfless act of giving out drinking water and free food from yesterday has caught many by surprise and gives us a reassurance that there is still some hope for our nation as a country with citizens who still care.
To some his good deed may not be nothing much to crow about but when we come to think of it, despite having hundreds or maybe thousands of millionaires or billionaires living here in the nation's capital city, how often have you come across people as generous as Sathiya giving out for free drinking water and food with no strings attached?
When I asked him why he was being so generous, he replied that it was his gesture of respect to the coming of Ramadhan, Islam's holiest month and that he wanted to do his bit to help Malaysians from all walks of life regardless of creed or color to have a free drink on him!
My heartiest congratulations to Sathiya, a selfless sidewalk mobile phone trader who is willing to fork out more than RM2500 of his own hard earned money just to carry out his wish to give his fellow man a drink, no strings attached!

When we have filthy rich politicians, businessmen, tycoons all flushed with cash yet be so tight fisted when it comes to doing charity works, Sathiya's efforts here outshines each and every one of them!

He is doing what many others who can afford to do more for the poor and the common man have not done?

When we read or hear of the country's top leaders hold open house, this and that, how many of us know that they do not cough out a single sen in holding such events and functions?

The government foots all those bills. From the canopies to the caterers and event management companies costs, its the Treasury that pays all those bills.

The political leaders get their 5 minutes of fame on national tv and bask in the free publicity as if they are the ones footing all such bills?

They ought to be ashamed of golden hearted Malaysians such as Mr. Sathiya here.

He may look like a roughneck rocker but the man stands tall as a towering Malaysian!

Congratulations Sathiya!

We are proud of you!

‘Cyber war’ to expose lies of the Opposition

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 06:27 AM PDT

BATU PAHAT: Johor MCA has gone on the offensive by embarking on a "cyber war" to expose the lies of the Opposition, said party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

He said all 26 divisions in the state had been told to counter the "double standard" of the Opposition in preparation for the next general election.

"At the moment, we have to admit that our cyber war efforts are weak.

"Therefore, all divisions in Johor must redouble their efforts in the psychological war against the Opposition via the Internet," he told newsmen after chairing the Johor MCA liaison meeting here yesterday.

Dr Chua, who is the state liaison chairman, said the party would expose the weaknesses of the Opposition.

An example of the Opposition's double standard was in Selangor, where it condemned the Barisan Nasional for issuing support letters but at the same time, it had also issued such letters, he said.

He also told the divisions to inform the rakyat of the empty promises made by the Opposition.
"The Prime Minister has reminded all of us that it is time to go on the offensive.
"Johor, which is known as a Barisan and MCA stronghold, must be ready for this," he said.
Dr Chua said the party would also organise training for its election machinery beginning next month and register more voters.

On the issue of foreign labour, he urged the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Labour, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to review the policy on hiring foreign workers, especially in the agriculture sector in Johor.

"The process of hiring foreign workers is too complicated.

"The agriculture sector in Johor is in need of more foreign workers but the complication in the hiring process had disrupted the sector," he said.

He also announced that Johor MCA has formed the International Affairs Bureau and the Climate Change and Green Technology Bureau.

Taking Back Our Politics

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 06:16 AM PDT

The whole idea of politics was to have someone represent you - basically be your voice in the larger arena.

Most of us were really excited when the tsunami of GE12 showed the impact when people unite and come together with a purpose.

But a few years down the road, we're disillusioned with what we've got.

Frogs who've leaped to the other side upon offers of cash (or threats of exposure).

Troublemakers who can't keep their mouths shut, like Hasan Ali of PAS and Zulkifli Noordin and PKR.

Haris has a plan. And I like it.

His post, Enter the Third Force even had me raising my eyebrows and wondering if it was wise to split the vote at a critical time like this.

But there's more to it.

I'll let Haris walk you through it.

PROTES kenaikan harga barang

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 05:14 AM PDT

PROTES kenaikan harga barang bertempat di Flat 17 tingkat PKNS pada 9 Ogos bermula pukul 5:00 petang. 3 orang aktivis ditahan polis sebelum pelancaran protes bermula.

Used Car Dealership Story: The Chinese Chung Brothers

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 11:34 PM PDT

Via AoSHQ, a great story, ought to make a film out of it. Excerpts with major plot twist spoiler below:

Beautiful Bodies; Rotted Hearts

There are a few streets in Chicago that are affectionately known to the working class locals as "raper's row." These are places one goes to get a used car when one is short on cash, credit, and hope. Places like this are the border towns of the capitalist miracle; where the national character shines most intensely, where regulation is lax, and where everyone seems to either be fleeing to or from something.

I hired on for what I thought at the time was going to be a bookkeeper job; taking inventories, keeping the ledger, and filling out the mountains of paperwork. The staff was more or less typical for the that street: a semi-reformed bar-brawling alcoholic called Fast Eddie, who ran the place; a "deal closer" named George with a whiskey blown James Coburn voice who had once been a very big name in the new-car trade but who had since slid all the way down the mountain to Cicero Avenue on an avalanche of white powder; a washed up ex-professional wrestler who went by the name of "Zeus"; an old debauched jailbird whom we called "Blackie" after he woke up one morning in his apartment following a night of very hard drinking and discovered that the woman he had picked up and brought back, who he could not otherwise remember, had dyed his hair black with something that wouldn't come off before she left; a 22-year-old semi-literate street person who acted as our "gopher" and who was allowed to live in one of the junked cars in the back lot and was known as "Ratso"; and the staff of our body shop one block over on Belmont–three guys known to all as the Chinese Chung Brothers, even though they weren't Chinese, weren't brothers, and weren't really named Chung.

What an interesting moral order this turned out to be.The Chung Brothers were the true heart of the operation (whatever the salesmen thought). Maestros of Bondo and Buffing, they were expert body and fender men whose job it was to reanimate the corpses we dragged in from the auto auctions for sale at the front lot. The Chung Brothers were actually Cambodian refugees, the last survivors of a money making scheme that Fast Eddie and some of his car dealer pals had been involved in several years earlier. At that time, the US Government has found itself with more Cambodian refugees than it knew what to do with. So they had offered a subsidy to schools that would teach them a trade. Fast Eddie and his pals had somehow found out about this and when they saw the size of the subsidy, they had quickly set up an "Auto Body College". The first and only class had fifteen people in it, who worked, ate, and slept in the garage where the Chung Brothers lived now. (How all these people slept there I never knew. The Chung Brothers slept in a Three Stooges style bunk bed they had built later.)

"The school was a great set-up," Fast Eddie later told me. "Fifteen slaves and all paid for by the US Government."

In this laboratory of free enterprise, the Cambodians did, in fact, manage to teach themselves body and fender work. The Cicero Avenue boys had shown them the rudiments of Bondo, spray paint, and buff outs and then turned them loose for a practicum on the junked cars in our weed choked back lot. The moment that any Cambodian gained a minimum amount of confidence in his work and English skills, he would graduate by slipping out the back door one night. In about 18 months, the college was down to the three Chung Brothers. Somehow it didn't surprise me that no one had bothered to learn their real names. We rarely went over to the garage except to drop off a wreck or pick up a debutante. When anyone needed to distinguish between the Brothers, they would just refer to them as Chung One, Chung Two, and Chung Three.

What did surprise me was that the Brothers didn't seem to mind. They were always working and always smiling. Naive in the ways of the free enterprise system, I couldn't understand why the Chung Brothers stuck around. They hardly ever seemed to get paid anything and their work was really, really good. They were so skilled, that had they been physicians they could have botoxed a fifty year old into a high school prom queen.

Was this operation profitable? The basic auction house price for the car plus the Chung Brother's magic was mostly covered by the down payment. Between rolling over the repos and the occasional person who actually made their payments, there was also the occasional person whose credit rating was not so terrible that we couldn't sell the contract at a discount to an "acceptance company". We made a living. The salesmen only ate what they killed. The Chung Brothers were only paid peanuts. The only other salaried people were Ratso, who took in $50 a week for a seven day week plus whatever change we forgot to get back when we sent him out for cheeseburgers, and your truly, the old Professor.

In a way, the whole thing rested on top of the Chung Brothers, who in their dream engineering at least produced something tangible. Given what kind of wrecks we were feeding them (and I knew how wrecked these cars really were, because I had to shepherd many a sick puppy home from the auction house) they seemed to perform cost efficient miracles turning these junkers into sparkling lumps of valuable cubic zirconium. They always seemed to be willing to work any number of hours and to turn out a car no matter how fast we said we needed it. With their perpetual smiles, they were the perfect image of the cheap Third World labor force that just loves to work for substandard wages under appalling conditions.

It was Ratso who turned out to be the weak link in the Chung Brothers' operation and he was the one who brought down the whole house of cards.

As our gopher, Ratso's main job was to fetch car parts, buckets of Bondo, barrels of STP, bags of cheeseburgers, piles of dirty magazines, and all of the other things that a modern used car lot needed to operate. He seemed quite content to be living in the wheeless '63 Pontiac Catalina in the back. And while we didn't particularly trust him, he really did look like a guy who was living on only $50 a week.

But Ratso got busted when a questionable item appeared on a car parts bill. It was a hub cab, something that we would have never under any circumstances purchased new. Ratso was skimming off a portion of what he got on our tab at the car parts dealer and then was selling it at a discount to our competitors. Between the inventory we found in the trunk of the Pontiac and what we could gather from a long overdue audit of all the bills going back several years, we soon got the impression that he was more or less doubling every order and was therefore skimming about 50 percent. He had been doing it so long (and apparently so had his predecessor) that Fast Eddie had long since simply priced it into his overhead and had never really noticed it, since we rightly assumed that all the wrecks we dragged over to the Chung Brothers needed extensive restoration.

But a more shocking truth was revealed when Fast Eddie, George, and Zeus took Ratso out to the back lot for his "exit interview". It turned out that the Chung Brothers were far and away his best customer. They would pay him a flat $100 in cash a week to pick up whatever they ordered, which was double what they actually needed for us. Ratso had actually been skimming off the Chung Brothers, who in fact were running a very profitable body and fender shop in our garage, using our tools and parts. The Chung Brothers had such a good reputation in their community that they had even opened up a satellite garage a few blocks away staffed with Mexican illegal aliens. The fact was, they had learned our ways all too well at the Body Shop College and had turned into even more ruthless businessmen than we were.

The was a very bitter pill for Fast Eddie to swallow. The smiling slave façade had been in fact a cruel hoax. Knowing what I know now about business, the smart thing for Fast Eddie to have done would have been to write off his losses and cut a new deal with the Chung Brothers. But Fast Eddie hadn't gotten to where he was in the world for nothing. He instead fired them on the spot and kicked them out of the garage.

This rash and thoughtless act spelled the beginning of the end for the dealership. New slaves turned out to be rather hard to find, and Fast Eddie had to start paying something much closer to retail for his body work; work that never seemed to rise to Chung Brothers' standards. Our stock began to look as shabby as everyone else's on the street and we began to lose our edge on Cicero Avenue.

Teoh's last note - why only 10 months later?

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 04:52 AM PDT

There's a very good reason why the police investigator 'found' a note, allegedly a suicide note as asserted by our remarkable world renowned Attorney General (AG), two months after Teoh's mysterious death on the eve of his wedding when he had just a short while prior to his interrogation by MACC and subsequent death, phoned his best man to remind the latter of the important event the following day.

Strange as it may seem, that MACC had correctly claimed Teoh committed suicide immediately following the poor man's death, two months BEFORE the suicide note ('suicide' as alleged by the AG) was fantastically discovered from Teoh's sling bag, probably from a very secret compartment hitherto unbeknownst to police, MACC and even Dan Brown or for that matter, RPK.

We were aware that there had been accusations by MACC and police that Teoh revealed the corruption of his boss, Selangor DAP chief Ean Yong Hian Wah to the MACC, an action apparently so stressful that Teoh forgot about his wedding in order to seek relief in the Netherworld.

And we know that immediately after his death, his belongings, laptop and underwear were all diligently, scrupulously and carefully sifted for evidence of the DAP's wrongdoings, though (perhaps due to the secret compartment in his bag) nothing incriminating was found.

But more significant than the wondrous timely discovery of a suicide note ('suicide' according to the AG) two months after Teoh's had purportedly committed suicide (according to the AG) was the AG withholding such an important piece of evidence from the coroner's court until now, 10 months after it was found.

The AG claimed he wanted to do the job for the coroner, namely in proving the authenticity of the note. Don't we just love the AG for such diligence, always so helpful, so thoughtful, so law abiding that surely we cannot help but scream, screech and shriek out of pride for our No 1 Law Officer. He deserves the Nobel Prize for Chemistry!

10 months after its discovery! Of course we all know that time is important and necessary to 'prepare' proper evidence – ask Colin Powell about the importance of preparation when he as US Secretary of State presented 'evidence' of Saddam Hussein's illicit and dangerous WMD programs to the UN Security Council. He (Gani Patail, not f* Powell) deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

Then more gratitude would be due to some for the discovery of this vital piece of now-authenticated (by the wonderful AG) piece of evidence – it had been none other than UMNO Senator Ezam who alerted the authorities to it; he heard it from pro UMNO blogs – it's just marvelous that UMNO bloggers and Senator Ezam had chipped in to support discovery of evidence even before the coroner's court and the lawyer for the Teoh's family had known about it. These are Towering Malaysians.

But in the midst fo accolades and gratitude expressed, I do have a complaint against the journalists who AGAIN misquoted that wonderful man, Mr Abdul Gani Patail, the world renowned Malaysian AG. They incorrectly quoted him saying he was briefed by the investigation officer (IO) that he (Ahmad Nazri the IO) conducted a thorough search after being advised by a psychiatrist that, ordinarily, a note would be left in a suicide case.

There's one observation and one error in that quote:

Observation"… ordinarily, a note would be left in a suicide case."

I cannot help but applaud the incredibly unerring accuracy and prescience of the IO and psychiatrist that Teoh's death was a 'suicide case', an important advice which then motivated the IO to search more vigorously for a note which would 'ordinarily' be left behind to help police investigation, and indeed it had been such valuable advice that stimulated the IO into (I presume) discovering the secret compartment in Teoh's sling bag which brought forth the note, alleged by the AG as a suicide note.

The note apparently reflected Teoh's grief for revealing his boss' naughtiness to the MACC (as correctly claimed by the MACC one year ago – they have been so accurate that I am going to see them for Empat Ekor forecast) though I am still puzzled why the MACC haven't been all over Ean Yong Hian Wah to finish him off – maybe the MACC officers are compassionate people? Well, they may deserve nomination for the Nobel Prize for Peace!

Noted Error/Misquote – "…after being advised by a psychiatrist that, ordinarily, a note would be left …"

The AG didn't say 'psychiatrist' but 'psychic'. Yes, the IO was advised by a psychic that the late Teoh Beng Hock had left a note in his sling bag for them, two months after he was interred. Bloody journalists should get their facts right and stop misquoting our wonderful AG.

Now what was it I said in my initial sentence in this post?

Oh yes, "There's a very good reason why police investigator 'found' a note, allegedly a suicide note as asserted by our remarkable world renowned Attorney General (AG), two months after Teoh's mysterious death …" and why the AG had hung on to it for ten months.

We have to blame Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand who is due to present her expert testimony this month, that Teoh Beng Hock was subjected to strangulation prior to his death fall.

All this psychic stuff wouldn't have been necessary if that Thai woman wasn't coming or wasn't so expertly and fearlessly truthful.

Hong Kong Shoots 'First' 3D Porn Film.

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 04:16 AM PDT

A group of Hong Kong filmmakers have started shooting what they claim will be the world's first 3D pornographic film, said a report recently.

The US$3.2 million (RM10 million) 3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy, set for release in May, has already generated interest in a host of Asian film markets, as well as Europe and the US, the Sunday Morning Post reported.

Loosely based on a piece of classical Chinese erotic literature, The Carnal Prayer Mat (picture), the movie will star Japanese adult actresses Yukiko Suo and Saori Hara, the Post said.

The film chronicles the story of a young man who, after being introduced to the erotic world of a duke, realises his ex-wife is the love of his life and features "orgies, swinging and some very graphic sex scenes", the paper said.

Producer Stephen Shiu acknowledged that censors would likely block the movie's screening in mainland China, a key market for Hong Kong filmmakers.

"(But) we are almost closing deals with some markets including Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and some pay TV channels in Hong Kong," Shiu told the paper.

Italian director Tinto Brass has announced he would produce a 3D remake of his 1979 erotic film Caligula, while Hustler plans to release a pornographic spoof of 3D science fiction film Avatar, the top-grossing movie of all time which has earned some 2.7 billion US dollars worldwide since its release.

Selamat menyambut Bulan Ramadan

August 10 — Lim Guan Eng berated Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today for getting involved in what he said was a lie that the Penang state government was discriminating against Malay traders.

The Penang Chief Minister said Muhyiddin "was stirring racial sentiments" when he said that the state government had victimised the traders.

"I'm not sure how DPM (Muhyiddin) can get himself involved in this lie. He is supporting a person who can be charged for criminal breach of trust," he said, referring to Komtar Merchant Association (KMA) vice-chairman Mohamed Ghani Abd Jiman whom he claimed had not paid Penang Development Corpoation (PDC) the rental collected from the traders.

"This is not the first time the state government is attacked. It's repeated many, many times. I strongly feel like the state government's dignity has been violated," he added.

Rakyat … "the times that are a changing!"

Every new day for UMNO brings with it new hope – it has nothing much else to look forward to but hope!

By steadyaku47

News that a record 86 contenders for 25 CC position in the MCA elections this Sunday can only mean that with an MCA in disarray, it is UMNO that will dictate the sharing of the spoils of war from the many projects, contracts and tenders to be awarded by the Government! No need to consider any request from a weak MCA! So more for UMNO!

The DG of the Information Department recently stated that "A study showed that the majority of Malaysians are aware of the 1Malaysia concept but need more clarification to understand its meaning."The same can be said about the callous murder of Altantuya's. I can categorically say that the majority of Malaysians do have some conception that Najib is somehow connected in there somewhere – whether through Razak Baginda or directly with Altantuya on a personal level. All they want is for Najib to "clarify" his involvement so that they can understand the situation better and Najib can then can get on with the business of trying to Govern what is left of our country after over fifty years of the UMNO regime.

And then there is this Hishammuddin Hussein. As if he does not already have his hands full fielding the "will he or won't he leave" IGP issue, mischievous elements from within the opposition are announcing that there are factions in UMNO hell bent on nominating Hishammuddin as number two to Najib – citing the fact that being first cousins, they would be able to work together without looking over each others shoulders for one to stab the other!

Say what you will but common sense does tell us all that for once somebody in UMNO is right! It is reasonable to assume that Najib must prefer to work with family rather than an outsider from Johor. And of course the people in Johor cannot complain when Muhyiddin is pushed aside – after all Hishammuddin can claim that his roots are also from Johor! So with one foul sweep they not only give Najib a deputy that he can trust and still appease UMNO Johore! Killing one stone with two birds or is it being stoned while trying to kill the other one … or something to that effect lah – I am sure you can figure that out by yourself! Sometimes these UMNO people get confused themselves with all the twists and turns of the politics that they indulge in. But be rest assured that somewhere in there someone is getting eliminated or getting stoned … or maybe even getting stoned and getting eliminated!

So from day to day UMNO dances to the drums that their warlords beat. UMNO thinks that it is savvy enough to change to the situation that surrounds them. From day to day they will do the necessary to react to the crisis that slowly but surely threatens to swallow them whole. From day to day UMNO prides itself as being able to respond to whatever internal crisis it finds itself regurgitating just so that they can keep their heads above water and make themselves as ready as they can to weather the next General Election. But here lies the irony of it all. As Thomas Jefferson said, "A politician looks forward only to the next election. A statesman looks forward to the next generation". I can tell you that the only thing UMNO Statesmen look forward to now is a car!

Our country did not become what it is today overnight. When did people start dying while under police custody? When did individuals who stood up against injustice and for their beliefs start to be put away in prison without trail with impunity – at the whims and fancies of those in power?

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear" – Harry S Truman.

When did those who were given the authority and the power to protect the people start to use these powers to extort money from the very people they are supposed to protect? When did our politicians start to make the enriching of their personal self a priority over their sworn duty to work for the people's good? When did all these started happening?

Just as nightfall did not come all at once neither does all this come all at once. The time between night and day is dusk. The twilight of time when everything seems to remain unchanged and yet we know that day will turn into night just as surely as at dawn when we know that night will turn into day. Malaysia now finds itself at the dusk of a dark, dark future or at a dawn of a brand new day.

What do we do?

We must keep our anger. We must keep the fire inside us burning bright and true. True to our aspirations of a new tomorrow, our hope for a decent government led by a decent leader – and most important of all – our irrepressible belief in our ability to bring about this change through our right to vote in who we consider will do good for our country, our people.

Among other things we want "freedom of religion; freedom of the press; freedom of person under the protection of the habeas corpus; and trial by juries impartially selected" -Thomas Jefferson

The Rakyat has begun to stir! There is a common purpose within us that has given emphasis and urgency to PKR to be ready to form a capable and responsible government after the next election. We who elect these politicians understand the responsibility and the power that is in our hands on the occasion of the next GE. The source of political power is for us to give to whom we choose. We have the responsibility to elect decent, responsible and accountable leaders and more important we have the power to do so. We have in our hands the power to do good or evil and for once the politicians will sit quietly to await our verdict. We must use this power wisely.

UMNO will always say that the Malays will require UMNO to lead them. Lead them to where? To destruction? To the demise of the Malays as a potent force in politics, in commerce and in the governance of our own nation? For the Malays to be led to their own destruction as UMNO implodes? No the Malays no longer need UMNO to do anything for them.

The Malays can now tell UMNO that it is UMNO that needs the Malays for UMNO to survive. The question for the Malays now is why do we need UMNO anymore? Are they relevant to the development of the Malays as individuals, as a race? Does the numerical advantage of the Malays translate into a license for the Malays to award themselves "ketuanan Melayu", give them license to ignore the rights of the minority that also call Malaysia their home – and more telling, does the numerical advantage of the Malays allow them the right to dictate and impose its will over the others who also call Malaysia their home? We Malays must ask ourselves these questions … and in answering them we need to consider the relevance of UMNO to the whole equation.

We now live in enlightened times. I do not simply advocate changes in our laws and our constitutions for the sake of change but we must keep pace with the human mind – with our capacity to think what is right and what is wrong. Equality and justice to everyone regardless of race, religion or politics. Honest government and the competent administration of our affairs – all these are the expectations and aspirations of too many of our people now to be ignored – as it is now being ignored by UMNO.

The people have begun to stir. The rules of the games have altered. Race, religion and politics no longer dictate the pulse of our nation.

The last election was a rare occasion in our history when the people spoke with a deafening roar that the time for change has come. But UMNO did not listen. How do we make them listen at the next election? I will tell you how! Let our collective "NATIONAL WILL" emerge from our diversity of race, religion and politics – and let this "NATIONAL WILL" use the occasion of the next general election to bring into our history fairness and justice to one and all through the ouster of UMNO and its Coalition partners. We deserve nothing less! Do not forget – you are one, with me we are two. Together our "NATIONAL WILL" decides!

Umno's Utusan Malaysia hit out at Lim and the Penang state government yesterday with a front page story headlined "Malays still oppressed" which highlighted allegations that the administration was preventing Malay traders from setting up Ramadan stalls.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin was reported to have said that the Penang state government was being unfair to Malays.

PDC also clarified yesterday that Malay traders were not being discriminated and that the issue arose from the failure of KMA to pay rent it had collected from traders.

Lim said today that if Muhyiddin was not fully informed about the issue, he should clarify the facts and withdraw his statement.

He stressed that the state government had no issues with the Bazaar Ramadan stalls, but was only concerned with KMA's actions.

"Now because of this person [Mohamed Ghani], it has become a racial issue," he added.

PDC general manager, Datuk Rosli Jafar, who was also present at the press conference said "he was sad with how things had turned out".

He said the problem would not have arisen if KMA had been professional.

"We welcome traders but rules and regulations must also be followed. You have to pay before starting operations," he said, adding that KMA had set up stalls without paying PDC the rental collected from traders.

"We also have to consider the sensitivity of other users of the building. We don't want the area where the state administrative office is located to be congested as this will be an inconvenience to visitors to the office," he added.

Rosli said PDC would be holding a meeting with the traders today to explain the real issue.

He said PDC was not sure how many traders were involved because "he was told that some traders owned more than one stall".

More than 100 traders led by Mohamed Ghani staged a protest at Komtar yesterday over what they claimed to be the "state government's discrimination against Malay traders".

Following this, PDC agreed to increase the number of stalls at the third floor concourse area to 17. The traders were required to pay RM50 in rental per day. The remaining 10 traders would be able to set up their stalls at level four of the building and they would pay RM25 per day.
