Lawatan ke Gaza kali ke 2

Lawatan ke Gaza kali ke 2

Lawatan ke Gaza kali ke 2

Posted: 25 Jul 2010 12:51 PM PDT

SALAM!

Malay Leader Wanted

Posted: 25 Jul 2010 11:14 AM PDT

Look into the hearts of many Malays and you will find the same advertisement, flashing rather frantically in neon.

Regular reader and commenter Milky Tea in his How To List has 16 simple pre-interview questions for anyone who wants the job..

so all you politicians should give it a read... it is a good and probing set of questions....not for the ticklish

I have pasted here the first 8 questions and final pleas of the author.. it gets better afterwards

I am a Malay and there is a great big leader-shaped hole in my heart. Can you be my leader? If you are not sure, run yourself through my own patented How To Be My Malay Leader, and see how you score.

1. Do you want to lead? If you are leading, where are you taking me? Into the next week? The next year? Next century? If you are not thinking at least 5 decades ahead, I am not interested.

2. Do you know where you are from? After all, to begin leading, you need to start somewhere. And to understand where you are now, you need to know how you got there in the first place. Too difficult a concept to understand? Then, forget it.

3. How do you score in history? See step 2 for relevance.

4. Too timid? Too afraid to hurt feelings? I am looking for someone with Ceasar-like qualities. Which means can you be a bit of a bastard? If you bleat like a sheep, maybe this is not the job for you. We are looking for Lions.

5. Age and refinement. Unless you have the intelligence and determination of Pitt the Younger, don't try it, boy. You know who you are.
6. How is your morality? Really, I am not looking for a saint. Who cares if you used to sow your oats far and wide. But do you have the energy to look after my children's need if you are easily distracted by a bit of crumpet? Your call.

7. How are your manners? In this context, manners include customs and traditions of the Adab Melayu. Score poorly? Its okay if you are willing to learn, but at your age, can you change?

8. Principles. It is good to have principles, but if you can start with proper Adab, that is good to begin with.

We are looking for genuine good leaders not because we believe in democracy, but in spite of democracy. Do you have what it takes to unite the Malays? If you think you do, cross the Rubicon. We are waiting.

p.s. Sorry for the Roman metaphors. Just finished reading Adrian Goldsworthy's "CEASAR". Sublime. That means "limau kasi kurang" in Latin.

When Ibrahim Ali plays the Malay hero...

Posted: 25 Jul 2010 07:45 AM PDT

Dissolve Umno and Pas, form a new 'Malay and Muslim' unity party. That's what suggested by Ibrahim Ali, Member of Parliament (Independent) for Pasir Mas and the president of Perkasa. A good proposal (read here), in fact but its actually easily said than done.

Perkasa now boasts an organisation to fight and protect the rights and the interest of the Malays, so they claim. Umno boasts of being the largest Malay (all Malays are Muslims) party in the country while Pas represents another group of 'Muslim fundamentalist'.

While Ibrahim's suggestion has yet to draw any response from both leaders of Umno and Pas, many would cast doubt over it, especially when Ibrahim himself used to be with both parties. Pas gave him the green light to contest the Pasir Mas parliamentary seat in 2008 at times when his relations with Nik Aziz and the rest of Pas leadership was so intact. Not an overboard statement to say that he contested on Pas ticket.

However of late, he subsequently falls out with Pas, notably after founding Perkasa which receives tangible support from the Malay and Umno leaders and members, including former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who once chided him as 'frog' for his bad political habit of party hopping - from Umno to Semangat 46, back to Umno and then Pas before declaring his 'independent' within a short span.

Umno expelled him when he contested as an Independent for Pasir Mas in 2004 (he lost). "I didnt leave Umno... it was Umno that sacked me..." was his words then.

Now, in suggesting the 'merger' of Umno and Pas, Ibrahim (maybe) has forgotten the role of Perkasa should that idea materialises. What would Perkasa be then, its function and role? Would it be another political party or just maintaining its status quo as a powerful Malay NGO?

The non-Malays, who already made a big fuss about Perkasa (calling it a racist and anti 1Malaysia organisation) would not feel very easy should Perkasa joins the 'new party'. As a hero by then for making such a brilliant idea, he would definitely join it if Perkasa is not turned into another political party.

And again, the non-Malays would feel very uncomfortable to see a 'Malay chauvinist' sitting together with Najib Razak, Muhyiddin Yassin, Nik Aziz and Hadi Awang. DAP will be the most stung by it as the Pakatan Rakyat has lost a component party.

(Ever since the formation of Perkasa, the Chinese and Indians too have formed theirs. Even Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin said all races can form anything similar to Perkasa. The Malays dont like it actually and start to call them racist, too. Is this healthy for national integration?)

Ops... another thing. Why didnt Ibrahim suggest for Parti Keadilan Rakyat to also consider the Umno-Pas 'new party'? PKR members are mostly Malays, too. He can always tell PKR non-Malay members to either opt for MCA, MIC, DAP, PPP or others. Why didnt he think of that?

If you are too concern about Malay unity, dont leave anybody behind, right? Not fair. Anwar Ibrahim is a Malay too. Maybe we can suggest to the judiciary to call off Anwar's court case (we can kautim anything in Malaysia, right?) and let him join the new party for the sake of Malay Unity!

Anyway, I kinda like his idea. He is a true Malay, isn't he? Can we call him a Malay hero?

Selangor has failed to keep promise of increasing sand revenue: Soi Lek

Posted: 25 Jul 2010 05:33 AM PDT

KLANG: The Selangor state government has failed to keep its promise of generating RM150mil annually from the sale of sand, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

"They promised in the past that they will generate RM150mil a year but in reality, the revenue has drastically decreased to about RM10mil a year," said Dr Chua after launching the Selangor MCA state convention 2010 here Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference later, Dr Chua said the state's sand revenue had dropped in 2008 and 2009 after Pakatan Rakyat took over Selangor.

He added that Pakatan had also contradicted its election manifesto by setting-up a company (Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd) to manage the state's sand-mining activities.

"They said they would not be involved in business in their manifesto before the general election but as soon as they became the ruling party (in Selangor), they set-up a company to manage sand.

"This created many issues and many accusations and at the end, the revenue from the sale of sand also went down," he added.

Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd has been mired in various controversies, including allegations of graft, recently.

Earlier in his speech at the convention, Dr Chua said the MCA must regain the support of the people, especially members of the Chinese community, for its political survival.

He added the party's reputation and political survival also depended on the outcome of the next general election.

He said the Selangor MCA must monitor the state government closely and reveal its weaknesses to the electorate.

Isu Pasir: Pemimpin UMNO Cuba Perbodohkan Rakyat, Kerajaan Selangor

Posted: 25 Jul 2010 04:15 AM PDT

Another conspirator in the Anwar Ibrahim frame-up bites the dust

The 'big secret' of the Chairman of Felcra, Hamzah Zainuddin, revealed

Who is Hamzah Zainuddin? Before this not many have heard his name. How did he become the Felcra Chairman, a post normally reserved for those who have 'served the powers that be', in this case the one-time Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad? What did he do for Mahathir that resulted in him being appointed the Felcra Chairman?

And how come, as a mere Chairman of Felcra, he is worth so much money that the Ipoh Syariah Court saw fit to command him to pay his abandoned (first) wife an amount as high as RM11.206 million, which is supposed to be only a portion of his vast wealth?

Hamzah was one of the conspirators in the plot to smear Anwar Ibrahim and he is the latest in the long list of conspirators to bite the dust. He is certainly rich but he made his money through foul and corrupted means, even by trying to 'sell' his wife and, together with Anuar Musa, robbed RM40 million from the fund set up to assist the hardcore poor.

Pak Lah is paranoid that Mahathir is out to get him

Before we talk about Hamzah Zainuddin, let us first talk about the new Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Pak Lah). Why is a person like Hamzah still the Felcra Chairman while Anwar is kept in prison and denied his request for medical treatment?

Not long after Pak Lah became Prime Minister, a few ex-close aides of Anwar went to meet him (Pak Lah) to discuss the possibility of Anwar being allowed his much-needed medical treatment.

And that was around the time rumours were spread that Parti Keadilan Nasional's Youth Leader, Ezam Mohd Nor, went to meet Pak Lah to discuss his entry into Umno. The truth is, the meeting was about Anwar's medical treatment.

A series of meetings were held but finally Pak Lah declined the request. He said that his position in Umno is not secured yet — he is still only the Acting President and is yet to be elected its 'confirmed' President at the Umno General Assembly due to be held in June this year — so he is worried that if he allows Anwar his medical treatment, then 'Mahathir's men' in Umno would view him as weak and may try to oust him from power.

Clearly, Pak Lah is worried about being surrounded by Mahathir's men and is paranoid that they would make a move on him, his Deputy, Najib Tun Razak, being one of them. And Hamzah is Najib's 'man', so he too must be spared.

"Anyway," said Pak Lah, "This matter is between Anwar and Mahathir." He added that, from the beginning, he was never involved in the conspiracy to get rid of Anwar and he refuses to get involved now.

Pak Lah never said Anwar is guilty of the crimes he has been accused of committing or that this is a matter for the courts to decide. He admitted this is all about politics but that this is between Anwar and Mahathir. Because he has not yet successfully strengthened his position in Umno, Pak Lah refuses to undo whatever Mahathir has done lest the ex-Prime Minister instructs 'his people' to make a move on him come June this year. And Mahathir appointed Hamzah the Felcra Chairman so he will not interfere in this matter as well, notwithstanding what has now been revealed.readmore "Justice may be delayed,

how did Ezam become Mahathir's script writer? Mahathir need Ezam FINISH OFF ANWAR

In 2003 or thereabouts, Anuar Shaari, Ezam Mohd Nor, and two other people who have all since left the opposition, made a trip to the United States. I did not know about it until I received a phone call from a contact in the US. He wanted me to verify who these four people are and whether it is true that they work for the Free Anwar Campaign.
I was caught off guard and did not know how to respond. I lied and said I was in a meeting and whether I could call him back later. I then got in touch with someone who would know what was going on and asked him what was happening.
The person I contacted was surprised that I had found out.
I was of course quite perturbed. The Free Anwar Campaign was just me. I was running the Free Anwar Campaign alone. There were no other people involved in the Free Anwar Campaign. How come there are now four people in the US who are supposedly there on the Free Anwar Campaign business?
The person I spoke to told me why they were there. He then asked me to call back the US and confirm with the person who had called me that the four are legitimate. I did as I was told — but not before I gave that person a piece of my mind and told him I did not like what was going on. Nevertheless, for the sake of the cause I will obey the order.
I then called back the US and told my contact that the four people who were there are legitimate. I also gave him the names of the four people and my US contact confirmed that I was right.
It is important that I confirm that these four are authorised to act on behalf of the Free Anwar Campaign, my US contact informed me. Then he asked me another question. "Is it true that the opposition is very short of money and that if they had a few million Ringgit then the opposition has a better chance of winning the next general election?"
"That is true," I replied.
"Okay," my US contact told me. "Then we will help arrange something for them. Ten or twenty million Ringgit is no problem for us. We can handle that."
That was just before the March 2004 general election. But the tens of millions in election funds were not sent to Malaysia. Instead, it was channelled to Hong Kong. And the March 2004 general election came before the money could be diverted from Hong Kong to Malaysia. And we never heard of the money again. Soon after that Ezam and his gang, which included Anuar Shaari, left the opposition and joined Umno. Some left just before the 2004 general election.
I found out later from a very senior party leader that the money came from George Soros (see more here: The four in fact personally met Soros in his office. And I was even told who had arranged for the meeting and the subsequent funding.
On 2 September 2004, I met Pawanchik Merican, one of Anwar's lawyers, in the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya. "Do you know that Ezam and Anuar Shaari have been collecting money in the name of the Free Anwar Campaign?" Pawanchik asked me.
"Yes, I know," I replied.
"Did they give you anything?" Pawanchik asked me.
"No, not a sen," I replied.
"I thought so," said Pawanchik. "I was told they are using your name to collect millions and that they did not give you anything. Why don't you close down the Free Anwar Campaign? If not these people will use it to collect money."
My wife who was there agreed with Pawanchik. "That's what I keep telling him but he is so stubborn," added my wife.
"I will never abandon Anwar halfway," I told Pawanchik. "Once Anwar is free then I will close down the Free Anwar Campaign."
"What if he is not freed? What if he spends 15 years in jail? Do you want to continue running the Free Anwar Campaign for another nine years without being paid any salary and allow them to use it to raise money?"
"I suppose so," I responded. "But Anwar will be freed today. So today I can close down the Free Anwar Campaign."
"None of the lawyers think so," said Pawanchik. I just shrugged my shoulders. Two hours later Anwar was freed by the Federal Court and I went home to make my last posting, 'Alhamdulillah, Anwar is now free', and closed down the Free Anwar Campaign.
Yes, that is the story of Ezam Mohd Nor and Anuar Shaari. Of course, I know the identity of the other two who also made that trip to the US, plus the 'fifth man', the man I phoned. I also know the name of the senior party leader who told me that the tens of millions came from Soros. And, invariably, I also know the name of my US contact who set the whole thing up. But as long as they keep their peace with me then I shall keep their secret safe. However, the minute they cross me, then their names will be revealed.

The master network of Mahathir is large! It spreads across the country. Their network has detected this movement from Anwar!

The criminals at work!

A clear picture of the crimes of these two evils are described here in the chronology of dates beginning 11th. May 2008.

11th. May 2008 – Najib met Mahathir (It is here the drama began, started by Mahathir in calling Najib a coward in April. The big evil engineered the small evil Najib to its front door. Needless to say the true drama that is going to be unfolded for the next few months began here, only to be polished later!) related article a repeat of the gut-wrenching melodrama and tragi-comedy who pushed it in Rosma? Mumtaj's girl Khairil Asshole (Pegawai Khas Dato' Seri Najib)

The period between 12th May and 28th. June 2008, where all the make-up men, artists and props were designed to perfection to stage this truly Malaysian Mahathir-Najib drama! The drama needed to be staged fast to deprive Anwar from entering Parliament. On 19th. May, as per their master plan Mahathir left UMNO, together with Sanusi, etc. This created much interest amongst Malaysians and the international community, distracting every one from the actual complex drama that is being staged by Najib.

Barisan Nasional politicians spend like there is no tomorrow, and the PM ane wife set good examples.
Then they ask the Rakyat (people) to tighten their belts a few more notches than last year, a little tighter than 2008,like a hangman's noose around one's neck, and yet the leaders do not see.

From The Malaysia Chronicle, lament after lament are being echoed, ye the leadrs remain deaf and blind, not dumb. They sing can sing K-rah-rah-rah-KO songs.

Not only politicians but investors draw battle lines in Malaysia

Wong Choon Mei, Malaysia Chronicle

The worst is still far from over for Malaysia, which recorded an 81 percent plunge in foreign direct investment last year as investors bet that Prime Minister Najib Razak will not be able to steer his country to safe shores.

"From their point of view, Malaysia is beginning to look more like Thailand each day. They don't think Najib is in control at Umno anymore and they are worried about the next handover of power," PKR strategic director Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.

"The second-line Umno leaders like Muhyiddin, Hishammuddin are not inspiring. Then the type of politicking displayed by people like Khir Toyo and Ibrahim Ali frighten investors even more. And that's why they bail out. And I'm not talking about foreign investors but also Malaysians themselves. Both categories are running away."

Najib has to call for a general election latest by March 2013, but pundits beleive it will happen before October 2011.

Sore thumb amongst ASEAN nations

Indeed, Malaysia was the only country in the region to record negative FDI in 2009. According to the World Foreign Investment Report 2010 released by the United Nations on Friday, Malaysia received only US$1.38 billion.

This is even less than Philippines' US$1.95 billion and pales in comparison with Singapore's US$16 billion. Only Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, Laos and Timor-Leste received less than Malaysia.

The WIR data is chilling given that Minister in Prime Minister's Department Idris Jala had earlier warned that Malaysia could go bankrupt by 2019, if the government was not allowed to embark on a subsidy-slashing program to reduce debt.

But experts and opposition politicians have dismissed Idris' arguments as masking the real problems, arguing that the reasons for the economic downfall was due to endemic corruption, a weak political and administrative system.

In particular, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has lashed out at Najib, who is also Finance Minister, for offering piecemeal solutions rather an integrated and structural revamp."Burdening the people on the pretext of reducing deficit and using 'government savings' to fund government excesses must be stopped immediately," said Anwar.

He warned that subsidy cuts, which would trigger prices hikes, should only be used as a means to cut the national deficit. However, Malaysia's national debt has soared to record high and the fiscal deficit was 7 percent of GDP last year, he pointed out.

DAP chief economist Tony Pua was also unconvinced by Najib's five-year plan unveiled last month. This aims to bring the deficit down to 5.3 percent this year, and reduce government debt as a proportion of GDP to 49.9 per cent in 2015 compared to 52.9 per cent in 2010.

"What was previously unimaginable, that we may one day be compared to countries such as Cambodia and Myanmar, is now a real possibility," said Tony, pointing to the WIR data.

"The government cannot use the excuse of global financial crisis as the reason for the precipitous drop in FDI as we have performed the worst compared to all other countries big and small in the region."

Najib's roadshows failed to inspire

The WIR data also showed that despite its current problems Thailand recorded a 30.4 per cent drop, Vietnam 44.1 per cent and Indonesia 44.7 per cent.

The other ASEAN nations Singapore, Brunei, Philippines and Myanmar managed to register positive FDI growth despite stiff challenge from East Asian dragons like China and Hong Kong.

Earlier this month, Anwar had suggested 4 key measures to bolster public and investor confidence. These include the immediate announcement of drastic reforms for a transparent government procurement system; restructure of gas subsidies for Independent Power Producers; vigilant management of Government-Linked Companies and government agencies and lastly, stepping up efforts to combat corruption and to stop political meddling in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Attorney-General's Chambers.

"It is not a mystery at all why we did so badly. Investors fear not the Pakatan Rakyat but Umno and BN. They are afraid Umno might instigate or trigger a political stalemate if they lose at the next General Election. Bear in mind some Umno leaders have hinted they would fight to the end not to lose political power," Tian said.

"We also have to look at the performance of Najib as Finance Minister. He has done poorly and should relinquish the post to someone more capable immediately. So far, his New Economic Model has disappointed and the weak FDI numbers are another testament to his inability to draw in funds despite numerous expensive road shows. He spends too much money on frivolous thing like public relations and media advertisements to boost his image and on the political front - too much time on negative politicking."

Pakatan Rakyat organised a briefing on registration of voters. Dato Mansor Othman, the Penang PKR Chairman. urged the participants to help to register new voters so as to ensure a bigger voting base in the next general elections.

"More than 3 million new voters are out there to be tapped, and that will make a difference if they are registered now!" he emphasised.

BN discouraged new voters to be registered. In fact, they make it difficult to do so. Many countries already let their citizens automatically become voters when they reached the age of majority, some fixed it as 17 or 18, whereas for Malaysia it is 21, and it is not automatic.

Dato Seri Nazri, Minister of the Prime Minister Department, gave the lame excuse in Parliament as "we don't force people to become voters." In actual fact, BN fear the young voters!

Time To Suppress Your Anger!

Posted: 25 Jul 2010 12:40 AM PDT

Every now and then, just when I think I've seen the worst, something comes along to prove me wrong.

Today's case in point is this notoriously ridiculous blog by the name of Marahku.

Forget that the blog owner attempts to decorate his blog with flames to give an aura of "anger". At least I think that is the intention.

Forget that trying to get a legitimate fact out of this blog is like finding a needle in a haystack.

If you have been following the attempts to discredit Haris Ibrahim, the owner of The People's Parliament, you would have been astounded to find that while Haris is able to present his facts from government sources, his detractors have had to rely on merely muddying the waters.

Anyone with half an education would be able to spot that.

But what was absolutely classic, is the statement, "Government is the work of saints coveted by fools".

I nearly died laughing.

Now, I may look at a lowly-paid social worker who lives in the slums in efforts to improve the welfare of those slum-dwellers and concede that he/she is a saint. Most people regard Mother Theresa of Calcutta as a saint, anyway.

But there is no way I could possible look at the Malaysian government (or any other government, for that matter) and call them saints.

Some say the best governments are the Scandinavian governments - they have really good welfare schemes, good healthcare, excellent infrastructure, a superior education system and well, the list goes on.

As for our government, they purchased submarines that refused to submerge. The Malaysian air force owns F5 aircraft of which engines were pilfered and then mysteriously returned after a stint in South America.

We have a police force that closed down some of its stations in crime-infested districts due to fears that it isn't safe for the cops themselves to be manning those stations.

We have highways that are jammed with traffic even though motorists are still forced to pay toll to use that highway.

Hey. We have a government that sprays chemical-laced water and tear-gasses citizens that publicly (but peacefully) oppose its nefarious regime.

With full knowledge of that, can one seriously say that government is the work of saints??

NOTA EDITOR: kenyataan terbaru Dato Hasan Ali membuktikan bahawa Mufti UMNO, HAramsani, adalah seorang pembohong nombor wahid. Begitulah perangai orang UMNO. Lagi teruk pembohong.

Saya masih ingat lagi nasihat kawan saya:

Kenyataan Hassan dedah Harussani berbohong
Abdul Aziz Mustafa

"Kenyataan Dr Hassan jelas mendedahkan pembohongan seorang mufti seperti Harussani.

Itulah sebabnya saya menulis dalam posting saya semalam bahawa kita kena bersihkan pekung kita dahulu sebelum kita nak bersihkan kudis-kudis orang lain.
