UMNO: Buang Pekerja PETRONAS. Serah Minyak Pada Brunei

UMNO: Buang Pekerja PETRONAS. Serah Minyak Pada Brunei

UMNO: Buang Pekerja PETRONAS. Serah Minyak Pada Brunei

Posted: 06 May 2010 02:36 PM PDT

Adakah Malaysia mahu menjadi seperti Indonesia.

Bersiap sedialah wahai rakyat Malaysia sekelian.

Pekerja kontrak Petronas bakal hilang kerja
Harakahdaily

Where is UMNO's soul? May I remind UMNO members, that the soul of UMNO is expressed clearly in Fasal 3 of UMNO's Constitution:
Mempertahankan kemerdekaan dan kedaulatan negara.

Malaysia raised the tone of the allegations to a more dangerous level.

Islam propagates the idea that the rightful ruler of this world is Allah(SWT) alone. No one else has the right to govern people unless they do it within His defined limit. The humans are sent to this earth as vicegerent (Caliph) to Allah(SWT) to establish His rule and system. When a prophet is present among the people, he is Allah's(SWT) chief vicegerent and once he passes away, the next best person among the muslim nation is chosen by the mutual consent and consultation of the believers. The first 4 rightly guide Caliphs of Islam were the true vicegerents of Allah(SWT) after Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They were chosen in a democratic way and were accountable for all their errors and mistakes. The first Chaliph of Islam, Abu Bakr(RA) had the following to say after he took over the Khilafa:

O Muslims! though you have made me your chief, I am not the best among you. If someone else among you had taken charge of this burden which you have put upon me, it would have been better for me. If you expect that I should rule you just as the Apostle of God did, then I must tell you that it is not possible. The Apostle received Wahi (Revelation) from Heaven, and he was infallible whereas I am an ordinary man. I am not better than you. Therefore, if you see me walking on the straight road, follow me; but if you see me deviate from it, reprove me. If I do right, support me; if I do wrong, correct me. Obey me as long as I obey God and His Apostle. But if you see that I am disobeying them, you too disobey me.
You have the Qur'an with you, and it is complete. God's Apostle has shown you both by precept and example how to conduct yourselves in this life. The strongest among you all is he who fears God. The weakest among you in my sight is he who is sinful. A people that gives up jihad, loses its honor. Be punctual in saying your prayers, and do not miss them. May God have mercy on you, and may He forgive you all."

According to a hadeeth:

There shall be Prophethood (nubuwwa) among you for as long as Allah wishes it to be among you. Then it shall be lifted up when Allah wishes to lift it up. Then there shall be successorship (khilâfa) on the pattern (minhâj) of Prophetship for as long as Allah wishes it to be. Then it shall be lifted up when Allah wishes to lift it up. Then there shall be a trying kingship (mulkan `âddan) for as long as Allah wishes it to be. Then it shall be lifted up when Allah wishes to lift it up. Then there shall be a tyrannical kingship (mulkan jabriyyatan) for as long as Allah wishes it to be. Then it shall be lifted up when Allah wishes to lift it up. Then there shall be successorship on the pattern of Prophetship. Narrated from Hudhayfa by Ahmad with a sound chain as stated by al-Zayn in the Musnad (14:163 #18319) and as indicated by al-Haythami (5:188-189):

There are two kingships that Quran talks about, one that is the kingship awarded to the pious people by Allah(SWT) like Prophet Dawood(Peace be upon Him), Prophet Solomon(Peace be upon Him), Dul-Qarnain etc., which is equivalent to Khilafa since all those pious people were acting as the vicegerent of Allah(SWT) and hence spread peace and justice on this earth. The other type is the one that is obtained by force, violence or by family association like Pharoahs of Egypt etc. The monarchs that I refer to are the ones that belong to this 2nd type. Islam believes that the people who are chosen to be the leaders of the Muslims (Ameer-ul-Momineen) should be the most pious among them and ever ready for his accountability in case of an scandle. The monarchs, however, were known from history to be the ones who basically ran the kingdom as their own property and tortured and killed people based on their own desire. They are not the ones to be confused with the vicegerent of Allah(SWT) since those monarchs will be judged much more severely then ordinary people in the hereafter as they exploited their position by their false desires of lust and word domination.

Zaid's effigy set on fire outside PKR HQ

Leading a 30-strong crowd chanting, Perkasa Youth chief Armand Azhar Abu Hanifah accused Zaid of being a "traitor" over a posting in his blog yesterday. First Wave Of PAS members hit the Ground….Selamat Datai

4076_trnsfeaturedSIBU: The first wave of PAS members from the Peninsula have moved into the Nangka area in the Sibu parliamentary constituency, where the majority of voters are Malay-Melanaus.

PAS election officer Wan Johari Wan Omar said they were part of a 30-member delegation who have arrived in Sibu to assist DAP with its campaign in the Malay areas. He added that more will be arriving in stages.

The Siby by-election is set for May 16.

Wan Johari said with him in Sibu were DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

In KOTA BARU, national election director Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah, who is leading the delegation, said they were focused on the Malay voters, who are supposedly anchored to Barisan Nasional.

He said they will be in Sibu to assist the DAP's election machinery.

"We will be focusing on the Nangka constituency where the majority of the voters are Malay Melanaus who are Muslims. We are aiming to convince them to vote for DAP.

"At the least, we will ensure there are sufficient voting and counting agents for the Malay areas," Wan Abdul Rahim said, adding members from the Peninsula will be complementing the existing campaign by PAS Sarawak members.

The Sibu parliamentary constituency has 54,695 registered voters including 2,537 postal votes.

It comprises 5,470 Malays (10.5 %), 36,389 Chinese (66.7%), 12,050 Ibans (22.1%), 54 Indians (0.01 %) and 289 others (0.53%).

Tight race

The Sibu race is expected to be tight and Bumiputeras voters, who make up 38%, are seen as the kingmakers.

The Sibu parliamentary constituency covers three state assemblies — Bawang Assan (an Iban- majority area), Nangka (majority here are Malay/Melanaus) and Chinese-majority Pelawan.

The focus of the Pakatan coalition partners will be on the 110 longhouse in Bawang Assan and Batang Igan.

In the last election, the DAP was accused of ignoring the Malays, Ibans and other communities in its campaign to woo the Chinese.

It lost the Sibu seat to Sarawak United People's party candidate Robert Lau Hoi Chew in a three- cornered fight. PKR also contested the seat. Lau won with a 3,323-vote margin.

The Sibu seat fell vacant following Lau's demise on April 9.

But this time, DAP with the support of PAS, PKR and local party Sarawak National Party (SNAP), is working on a broad-based strategy for Sarawak as a whole and Sibu in particular.

Said Wan Abdul Rahim: 'We have confidence in our strategy and the DAP candidate, Wong Ho Leng. He is the right man for the fight, having contested the seat several times before and only losing narrowly to the BN party.

"Race is not an issue with PAS; we are here to win and the candidate with the best chance must be fielded," he said.

The Sibu by-election is expected to be a straight fight between Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) and DAP. However, this will only be confirmed after nominations on May 8.

In the last Sarawak election, DAP won six state seats and PKR one. They were all in Chinese- majority areas.

"This fact and the show of support by the Chinese in the Hulu Selangor by-election have given us the confidence that the Chinese support for Pakatan has grown.

"I don't think it is an issue anymore. In the Bukit Gantang by-election, PAS secured 82% in a Chinese-majority Kuala Sepetang. In Hulu Selangor, PKR received 80% in Kampung Rasa, another Chinese-majority areas," Wan Abdul Rahim said.

Can you stomach the truth?what are waiting for musa hasan resign now

"Truth drugs" are in the news again. The Supreme Court has declared the use of such psychotropic substances as sodium pentothal for getting evidence from accused illegal. The court is going by the logic that getting a person to involuntarily reveal information is a violation of the 'process of law'. But what is the science behind these so-called "truth drugs"?

Research all over the world has shown that people administered a class of drugs called barbiturates slip into a fuzzy, drowsy twilight zone, their guards go down and they start getting more and more talkative though speech slurs. Of course all this depends on measured administration of the drugs. In high quantities, these drugs lead rapidly to coma and death.

Some of you might be thinking, "Wait a minute. I know something else that induces the same symptoms!" Well, you are right – alcohol has a very similar effect.

Three barbiturates are used as "truth" drugs – sodium amytal (amobarbital), pentothal sodium (thiopental), and to a lesser extent seconal (secobarbital). First synthesized in 1903, over 2,500 types have been synthesized and about two dozen of these have been used in medicine. Billions of tablets are prescribed every year all over the world. In popular culture they are known by a variety of names like goofballs, Luminal, Nembutal, red devils, yellow jackets, pink ladies, etc.

How exactly do they work? Not much is known but the effects are well documented. Small doses cause sleep, reduce anxiety. Give somebody 3-5 times the sedative dose and the subject will fall asleep or unconsciousness but you can still wake them up. A still larger doses will act as an anesthetic, depressing the central nervous system. Go further and breathing will stop, death will result. The stages are the same as seen when drinking, except that it is fast-forwarded. The change in appearance is dramatic – the body slackens, the face crumbles, there is a phase of excitement, even giggliness, followed very quickly by sleep.

For a quick recap of how to conduct an interview with a truth drug, let us listen to the experts, the CIA. In a declassified document called "Truth" Drugs in Interrogation authored by George Bimmerle the interrogation is described thus:

"Each patient was brought to complete narcosis and permitted to sleep. As he became semiconscious and could be stimulated to speak, he was held in this stage with additional amytal while the questioning proceeded. He was questioned first about innocuous matters from his background that he had discussed before receiving the drug. Whenever possible, he was manipulated into bringing up himself the charges pending against him before being questioned about them…… his speech was thick, mumbling, and disconnected, but his discretion was markedly reduced…….. Sometimes it was useful to pretend, as the patient grew more fully conscious, that he had already confessed during the amnestic period of the interrogation, and to urge him, while his memory and sense of self-protection were still limited, to continue to elaborate the details of what he had "already described."……… Several patients revealed fantasies, fears, and delusions approaching delirium, much of which could readily be distinguished from reality. But sometimes there was no way for the examiner to distinguish truth from fantasy except by reference to other sources……….. As the subject revived, he would become aware that he was being questioned about his secrets and, depending upon his personality, his fear of discovery, or the degree of his disillusionment with the doctor, grow negativistic, hostile, or physically aggressive. Occasionally patients had to be forcibly restrained during this period to prevent injury to themselves or others as the doctor continued to interrogate. …."

And so on.

The point being this: there is no way of knowing whether answers given during such drugged interrogations are true or false. The CIA document itself concludes thus: "The barbiturates, by disrupting defensive patterns, may sometimes be helpful in interrogation, but even under the best conditions they will elicit an output contaminated by deception, fantasy, garbled speech, etc." So, the "truth" drugs are a myth, but their bogey is so terrifying that people assume they are working.

Rosli Dahlan's Trial: When cornered, divert and delay

I am gratified that RPK had asked readers of his Malaysia Today blog to read my posting yesterday entitled " Rosli Dahlan's Trial: The Liar Kevin Morais buried in his lies!". I am also pleased to note that that posting and an earlier one entitled "Lies, Lies and Lies!" have drawn considerable public interest in Rosli Dahlan's case.

My objective in fanning public discussion is to create awareness of the lies perpetrated daily upon Malaysians. What is alarming is that these lies are even played in the courts. Therefore, I make it my mission to expose the perpetrators of these lies.

We hear of the government's NKRA (National Education Key Result Area) in six areas of public concern. We hear of integrity being the core value of this NKRA. One of the NKRA is the eradication of corruption. We hear voices of dismay on the part of the MACC that the public does not appreciate the difficulty they face in the fight against corruption. As such, the Minister in charge of NKRA, Dato' Seri Idris Jala has taken the MACC on a road show to educate the public of the importance and relevance of the MACC in the fight against corruption. The MACC too has gone on a public relations (PR) campaign to repair its battered image.

While all that is commendable, the core issue here is that the MACC must be seen as a credible law enforcement agency and not as a tool of oppression. The MACC must prosecute real criminals and not persecute innocent citizens!

The public's concern is real, not illusory. They saw in Teoh Beng Hock's case, the death of a WITNESS while under the MACC's custody. And for what offence? An investigation into a miserable alleged corruption of RM2,400. Then the cover-up in the Inquest. The public's suspicion that the Inquest was just a diversion to deflect public outrage is now proven. The Inquest has indeed become just a charade especially when the Home Minister, Dato' Hishammuddin Hussein, and the Parliament Minister, Dato' Nazri Aziz, are seen threatening and intimidating the famous Thai forensic expert Dr. Pornthip Rojanasunand How do you expect the public to have any faith in the MACC?

The scene is now repeating itself in the point blank fatal shooting of the 15 year old school boy, Aminulrashid. The inept IGP Musa Hassan gave press release after press release to paint the dead schoolboy as a criminal armed with a parang, while his friend who escaped was made to look like a fleeing felon. Then it turned out that the fleeing felon is himself the son of a policeman. When the boy gave a press conference of his version of the events, IGP Musa Hassan expressed anger and threatened to pull the police off the streets. That the IGP could make that threat, depicts his mentality of a bully. To pacify the public, the government announced the setting up of an Enquiry Committee. Can the public be blamed for distrusting this as just another diversion and a charade?

That brings us to the Trial of Rosli Dahlan. This is a perplexing case of the brutal treatment of a professional. A lawyer, whose very duty is to advise and represent client. At that time, Rosli was actively involved in pursuing the case of the massive losses of RM 8 billion suffered by the national airline, MAS, against its former Chairman, Tajudin Ramli. That fact is known to the NKRA Minister, Dato' Idris Jala, as Idris was the MD of MAS who instructed Rosli to pursue this case. In the end, AG Gani directed that the case be closed by imposing a fine!

Rosli also acted for Dato' Ramli Yusuff, the former Police Director of Commercial Crimes Invetsigations Department (CCID). Rosli's services to Dato' Ramli extended to situations where IGP Musa Hassan and A-G Gani Patail wanted to release a known criminal Goh Cheng Poh @ Tengku Goh and Rosli was tasked to prepare affidavits to oppose it. The CCID also discovered IGP Musa Hassan's connections with the Along syndicate. It was imperative that Dato' Ramli must be removed. So a conspiracy was hatched to publicly lynch Dato' Ramli as a crooked cop with RM 27 million assets. Rosli acted for Ramli and made various enquiries to the MACC Deputy Director of Prosecution, Anthony Kevin Morais.

Instead of replying to Rosli, Kevin directed his MACC officers who then stormed Rosli's office, shouted and humiliated him before his staff, handcuffed and dragged him with bloodied wrist to the MACC HQ and locked him up for the night during the holy month of Ramadan. Then the MACC charged him one day before Hari Raya 2007 to inflict the maximum humiliation. The mainstream media carried headline stories of the lawyer who was charged for hiding Dato' Ramli's RM 27 million.

But read the bold print of the Charge and it immediately shows that Rosli was not charged for hiding anything. He was charged for allegedly failing to reply to Kevin's Morais notice. The point is that Rosli did reply. Rosli categorically said that he was not Dato' Ramli's "associate" and did not hold any asset for Dato' Ramli. Rosli also challenged Kevin's notice as bad. He was after all an accomplished lawyer and he knew what is legal and illegal. That enraged the MACC and AG Gani. You see these people in power are not used to being questioned. They did all that to Rosli to teach him a lesson. It did not matter that Rosli was charged before they even found if Dato' Ramli had done anything wrong. They did not care that it seemed odd that Rosli was charged before Dato Ramli.

Only later then Dato' Ramli was charged. The conspiracy began to unfold. Dato' Ramli was charged for some alleged misdeclaration. He was not charged for any corruption! The RM 27 million story immediately fizzled out. Just last March, Judge Gunalan acquitted Dato' Ramli without his defence being called. The Judge said there was no prima facie case. The Judge said there was no predicated offence to justify the issuance of any notice against Dato' Ramli. The Judge said the Notice against Dato' Ramli was bad. The Judge also found that all the allegations of the non-declaration of the assets are false. So, it is now proven that Dato' Ramli was fixed. Earlier on in Kota Kinabalu, Judge Supang Lian had also said the same thing and found that IGP Musa Hassan " was not a credible witness whose evidence is to be disbelieved".

So, if Dato' Ramli is innocent and has been freed, Rosli Dahlan would also be free, right? Wrong! It did not matter that Rosli was charged first before Dato' Ramli when investigation was incomplete. It did not matter that there was no evidence to link Rosli in any way to Dato Ramli's alleged wrongdoing, except that they were university friends. It did not matter that the professional relationship they had was that Dato' Ramli sought legal services from Rosli. It was stupefying that when Rosli rendered legal services to Kevin's boss, Dato' Nordin Hassan, to enable Nordin Hassan's family to recover RM6.5 million, Rosli was considered as a good man but when Rosli acted for Dato' Ramli, he suddenly became the target of MACC's attacks. All these did not matter.

All that mattered was that since the MACC has charged Rosli, therefore they just have to justify what they did. It did not matter that the MACC had to build on lies upon lies to justify what they did to Rosli. And that is what the Trial of Rosli Dahlan has shown.

The MACC Deputy Director of Prosecution, DPP Kevin Morais had lied throughout his witness testimony. That was the thrust of my article "Lies, Lies and Lies". I am glad that RPK has managed to obtain the court transcript that showed Kevin being evasive. Art Harun has pointed out to me that the revered Lord Denning says that when a witness says "I don't remember, he is lying!". In the Malaysian context, Kevin Morais had said "Tak Tahu" to almost all the questions under cross-examination by Rosli's lawyer, Dato' Kumaraendran. Judge Abu Bakar Katar should not hesitate to denounce Kevin Morais as a liar, just as Judge Supang Lian did toIGP Musa Hassan.

I promised to report the continuation and attended court on Day 2 and 3 of Rosli's Trial. I am disappointed to report to you that having been cornered, having no more escape route, DPP Zulqarnain quickly dispensed Kevin Morais and all the other witness. Instead these two valuable days were used by DPP Zulqarnain to make lengthy legal submissions on very petty legal issues. I suspect these are just diversions in order to delay and make the public forget. My suspicion is proven correct because DPP Zulqarnain then sought to take off the next hearing dates on June 1st and 2nd 2010,whereas these dates were fixed earlier in January. The reason? DPP Zulqarnain is going for a holiday in Australia with his family. How frivolous!

Do you still remember that Kevin Morais had also given the same excuse in December 2009? When he was under pressure during cross examination, he abandoned the trial midway on the pretext of celebrating Christmas with his family in London. Despite his English sounding name, Kevin is a local Malaysian boy, he is not English. He does not have family in London, unless he has declared his 60 year old boyfriend as his spouse, then that would qualify his boyfriend as family. But that would pose a problem, because in Malaysia we do not recognise same gender spousal relationship regardless that the conjugal relationship can be consummated! So, Kevin had lied even in seeking the adjournment, and one can only suspect that DPP Zulqarnain is also lying in seeking to cancel the next trial dates.

Some said DPP Zulqarnain would not lie because he graduated from the International Islamic University (IIU), where they supposedly teach high moral values and other Islamic brotherhood values. But I won't bet too much on that. His boss, Dato' Nordin Hassan, was from the same IIU and yet he sold out on Dato' Ramli who was his roommate. He sold out on Rosli who had helped him with his family's legal problems until the family recovered RM 6.5 million. And Nordin Hassan also prosecuted Anwar Ibrahim in Sodomy I. In as much as I won't pay much heed to Kevin's supposedly Catholic upbringing, I won't pay much heed to these so called muslim brotherhood notion of Ukhuwah Islamiyah or Ikhwanul Muslimin or whatever fanciful name you wish to attach to it.

Dato' Nordin Hassan is now high up in the AG's Chambers. He is the Deputy Head of Prosecution for the whole of Malaysia. If he really cares, this is the occasion to make a case, not in Rosli's interest, but in the interest of redeeming the MACC's image, to withdraw the charge against Rosli and make an apology. That is the decent thing to do instead of the diversions and the delays!

Citizen Journalists in Malaysia unite

Posted: 06 May 2010 04:28 AM PDT

Since launching the Malaysiakini's citizen journalism course two years ago, the independent news website has helped empowered more than 180 Malaysians to be the voice of their communities. Last weekend, this pioneering group of citizen journalists had a reunion of sorts at the inaugural Citizen Journalism Conference 2010, that was held at the Central Market Annexe in Kuala Lumpur. The conference, timed in conjunction with May 3 World Press Freedom Day, was the first of its kind in Malaysia. At the two-day conference, citizen journalists from all across the country hold discussions on issues concerning citizen journalism, share their work and reports, and attend workshops to further hone their journalistic skills. Malaysiakini speaks to four citizen journalists about their role and the challenges they face.

Koperal 104747 Khalid Che Rus perlukan bantuan anda! Mana dia peguam peguam Juara Rakyat?

Posted: 06 May 2010 08:22 AM PDT

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Tuan tuan dan puan puan, warganegara Malaysia sekelian.

Besarlah harapan saya agar tuan puan berkeadaan sihat sejahtera bersama ahli keluarga sekelian.

How the Obama Administration Tackles Terrorism Attempts on American Soil

Posted: 06 May 2010 02:45 AM PDT

First, quick roundup by Ann Coulter here.

Using the ongoing case of attempted NYT bomber Faisal Shahzad:

1) Immediately releases information on who they suspect in order to look like they're doing something, tipping the perp off and causing him to try and make a hasty getaway.

2) Much-touted 'the system that works' loses track of perp and then failed to stop him from buying a plane ticket, getting a boarding pass, getting past customs, and actually taking off. Despite perp being on the terror watch list for 11 years.

3) Continues to put its focus on Conservatives and Tea Partiers as the real threat, which leads to these kind of totally unreal conjectures and the media having no clue as to perp's motive. Even after the culprit is caught and confesses and it's found out he hates Bush.

4) In the end, the day is saved and the culprit apprehended due to attentive T-shirt vendors and Jack Bauer not being popular among jihadists.

5) And remember: Don't jump to conclusions. Unless you're going to conclude that the perp is a white police officer or 80-year old lady Tea Partier.

Cheney can take a hike
Though terror acts have spiked
The border's open wide
The CIA's un-spied
Iran is nuclear now
While our President bows
And kowtows to despots

When airport types won't quiz young Muslim men
But search nuns octogenerian
Then we know
Anything Goes!

Has Zaid Ibrahim gone overboard with his comments!?

Posted: 06 May 2010 07:51 AM PDT

He implies we are all stupid and living in the age of feudalism!

It was reported in a Malay tabloid quoting Zaid Ibrahim saying a call by the Sultan of Selangor not to use mosques as places for politicking was not a royal decree but a personal view of a ruler of the state.
The front page of the paper gave a big headline in Malay that says "Bukan Zaman Feudal", or loosely translated "we are not living in dark ages anymore", and to me he is saying feudalism and rulers are passe and that the rulers have to channel their "decree" through a state highest religious body.
He may be right or he may be wrong but the tone of this recently defeated opposition candidate for Hulu Selangor smacks disrespect for any Malay ruler. As a Malay I am all for the system of the institutional monarchy and when I am in front of my ruler I will always put both of my hands on my forehead, a sign of respect! (Mind you I have been around the world, and have seen many rulers dethroned, but our government of a constitutional monarchy is unique, I don't want it any other way!)
It appears as though the members of the opposition, Zaid included, are set to belittle or ridicule the monarchy system of the country. We do remember when a former mentri besar of Perak who said "saya rela menderhaka terhadap sultan", or loosely translated "I am ever willing to betray the king".
And I do remember a certain leader of the opposition, who is on trial now, who refused to bow in shows of respect to the Sultan of Perak.
Ah! Well! We do know that these few disgruntled nouveau riche, new money people like Zaid Ibrahim and his esteemed leader, BABI, who will forever be trapped in the age-old adage that says: "Money alone cannot guarantee you join the club" my friend! You need good breeding to be in one (a club that is).
So Zaid you go ahead wishing and hoping this country will one day be a republic and then you will wake up one day to find you are being ruled by the chauvinist Chinese-based DAP, and like Penang and Singapore once in power the Malays, and their leaders, were slowly marginalised and shoved aside!
Think about it!

Police Actions have a Negative Influence on FDI in Malaysia

Posted: 06 May 2010 01:43 AM PDT

By Pakac Luteb

Someone who wishes to remain anonymous pointed me to
www.humanrightspartymalaysia.com for information regarding the 2
brothers shot dead, apparently by police, in Taiping.

There are a number of issues i need to address based on the above.

First, the facial wounds i had thought due to torture are more likely
due to a fragment of a bullet that hit the brother's car or fragment
of the brother's car created by impact of a bullet.

I hope i can be forgiven for my error, especially in light of the
police torture killing of Kugan.

Second, there were eyewitnesses to the shooting who reported the
sequence of events, including a number of police gathering in the area
beforehand.

The eyewitnesses said the brother's car was later blocked by 2 other
vehicles, people then alighted from a third vehicle and shot the
brothers.

This was apparently no spur of the moment shooting but rather a
premeditated shooting.

There should be an investigation of the shooting that includes an
autopsy of the brothers and matching of any bullets recovered from the
brothers, their car and the scene, to the weapons used and the persons
who fired them.

Why were the brothers shot?

Where the police acting out a scenario? Are the police using people
for target practice? Do the police want to see how modern small arms
fire devastates the human body? Are the police trying to intimidate
people to make them docile? Is the shooting part of a plan to
desensitise the police to killing human beings, for police to be
prepared to shoot
people if people finally get so fed up that they take to the streets
in people power?

Whatever the motive of the police, the matter raises doubts in
people's minds about the police.

People feel insecure, they don't know if they will be shot for
"driving while Indian" or some other "crime".

Security and the perception of security are important to attracting
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Malaysia.

A negative perception will have a negative influence on FDI.

If foreign corporations doubt the Malaysian police, the companies will
not want to set up operations in Malaysia, as they would fear for the
safety of their employees.

Employees are not easily replaceable and companies have a lot invested
in their employees.

Companies consider the security situation, judicial system, level of
corruption, etc.,
before committing to setting up operations in a country.

Companies' perception of Malaysia is not based only on smiling
government officials saying how great Malaysia is or how the companies
will get tax waivers, etc., companies conduct extensive "due
diligence" exercises when seeking foreign locations for investment,
manufacturing, university twinning, etc.

Can Malaysia really compete with other countries to get the FDI, to get the
companies to come to Malaysia?

The police are really doing themselves a great disservice in the long
run. Their behaviour has a negative influence on the economy through
emigration of Malaysians, reduced FDI, etc.

If the police were to behave PROFESSIONALLY, public and foreign
confidence in Malaysia would increase, the economy would increase,
Malaysia would become vastly more wealthy and police salaries could be
sky high compared to how they are now.

If the police continue to plunder and pillage, they are committing
themselves to forever afford only a roti canai and a teh tarik.

If they truly reform and behave as proper police behave then they will
become able to afford an entire Mamak shop or even more.

My original letter with information about the brothers shot in Taiping
appears below for your easy reference

Another Perspective on the Penang Medical College Saga

Posted: 06 May 2010 01:37 AM PDT

By Fuad Ali

The Irish are tying to take over Penang Medical College .
Please try not to allow this take over. Malaysian management must remain
in control the medical college for the rakyat to educate honest honest and good doctors.

Worse still the Irish National Universiti of Ireland which grants the degree MB ChB is going
to be dissolved in June 2011 because of financial reasons and other reasons not disclosed.
The Irish partners of the Penang Medical College twinning programe are now trying to apply
to various worldwide bodies so that they can manufacture a medical degree qualification which
they can market as an intenationally recognised medical degree.

The current degree awarded to graduating students of the PMC twinning programe is advertised
as internationally recognised but this is false. The degree MB ChB (National Universiti of Ireland)
is only recognised in Malaysia and Ieland( where the geat majority of PMC students cannot get jobs)

The degree is now no longer going to exist after the dissolution of the National Univesiti of Ireland
This disaster is very unfair for all the PMC graduates who studied very hard for their degree, paid a lot
of money and also to the Malaysian Government and people who supported the scholaship students.

Please investigate this fiasco where foreigners ae allowed to use Malaysian facilities to exploit Malaysians
and make excessive profits for themselves by exploiting the "Tabik Orang Putih Tuan" phenomenon
which some conning Malaysians are being accomplice to for their own personal gain to exploit their
fellow men.The Penang Hospital should be made use by The Malaysian Ministry of Health and the
Malaysian Ministry of Education to run a Medical Education facility to train doctors who will be caring
and compassionate, not doctors who want to get back the money they have lost in paying excessive fees
for their medical education.

Anyway 75%-80% of the teaching at the PMC college is done by Kementerian Kesihatan staff who should
concentrate on treating the sick.

JPA and MARA should really invetigate and really interview their students , get the truth and maybe
use the Penang Hospital to conduct their own Medical Universiti. What is the use of paying so moch
to foreigners for a degree which is only recognised in Malaysia and , now worse still is no longer going to exist
because the institution granting the degree is going to be dissolved.

The medical college is operational only because of the teaching hospital in Penang ie
Hospital Pulau Pinang . Without the Hospital there will be no medical college. It really cost
a lot of money to run a medical college entirely. The big silent partner in the college is Hospital
Pulau Pinang and Kementeian Kesihatan Malaysia

The Irish are very very aware of this. They are making a lot of profit from Malaysia. It is said
that PMC is nonprofit. but why are the Irish so willing to take control of the College.
The reason is that they getting a great lot of Money from the fees especially fees for the first 2-3years
course in Dublin

The preclinical course in Dublin costs 30,000 euros per year, per student
For 120 students it costs 120 X 30,000=3,600,000 euros, per batch of students, per year
At any one time there are year1
year2
year 3. (1st 6 months/half year)
So in total there are 2.5 batches of students costing in fees only 3,600,000euros X 2.5 == 9,000,000 euros
So its 9 million euros and converted into ringgit it is 9X5== 45 million ringgit. per year

The capital and /or expenditure required for the preclinical laboratories/ course is minimal
So one can see why the Irish are so eager to be involved in Penang Medical College
It gives them a big profit. for almost no expenditure

If there was no PMC the Irish cannot get this money as they do not have the clinical teaching hospitals
to provide practical clinical teaching and training.

They only want to grab grab grab, providing very poor facilities. There have really
no improvements at PMC, facilities poor, library poor, computer IT facilities poor. Irish want more
and more profit , fees keep increasing, more and more students but PMC staff not around ,
a lot of teaching left to junior hospital staff some even have no postgraduate degree The orang putih
get big fat salaies to come and enjoy their retirement in a warm climate. They connot communicate,
cannot talk to patients , do not know the local manners, and often misbehave especially parties.

The Degree given by National Universiti of Ireland also poor and useless,
Only recognised in Malaysia & Ireland .Many many PMC graduates try to apply to work in UK,
Australia,Singapore but PMC National Universiti of Ireland degree not laku.Graduates told by
General Medical Council in UK , that PMC graduates have to pass PLAB examination first.
Told by Australian Medical licensing Authorities that PMC graduates must pass AMEC exams
first. USA- USMLE, Singapore - no more recognition of PMC degree. For working and
higher specialist training in Ireland , only 1-2 students accepted per year ,and only if they are very
outstanding.

It is very sad that Penang Medical College Graduates cannot even
appear for the qualifying exam in Singapore for medical graduates from unrecognised Universities

To graduate from PMC private student spends about 700k, scholarship student has 10 year bond
or pay 600k penalty. but degree recognition, no different from , local medical colleges
eg AMIST- 300k, Allianz-350k, Melaka Mannipal- 400k, IMU local course 350k,
and now UNITAR- 250k MAHSA College 250k etc etc. Penang and Malaysia needs a good
ethical and reasonably priced medical college.

These facts can be investigated and youwill find that they will se at least 95% accurate
All in all Malaysians have been conned, and are allowing themselves
to be conned . Penang General Hospital can be a very good teaching hospital if properly
organised with PMC Lecturers helping in service and senior hospital staff doing some teaching.

Management is sadly bad and manage the college for their own benefit
i) CEO threatened students who did not attend motivational lecture by his friend Eddie Jordan. Just guess who paid the lecturers expenses

ii) CEO is forcing a change of place of library, canteen , students common room to a rented building 1 km away from lecture and tutorial rooms. Students disagree and petitioned that the change will be incovinient as they cannot use library in between lectures and tutorials but CEO dosent care. he says space is needed, BUT space is wasted on a foreign consulate, and on a research centre
which has nothing to do with students.

iii) CEO does not care about college and students but spends time and college money on his friends Irish Parties, Irish games and puts expenses of his Irish friends and purchases equipment for use by his Irish friends on PMC expenses

If there is an investigation much moore wrongful activities will be found.

. Please dont allow PMC to be sold to the IRISH or any
other company who may latter sell to Irish. Malaysians must keep control of PMC
to keep medical college honest, transparent , affordable, so that students can graduate not feeling angry,
not feel cheated and not having to have plenty of loans to pay off. If students have alot of loans to pay
and feel they have been cheated they will be looking to get as much money from the patients, and the patients
and society will suffer

Please try to keep control of PMC with its teaching hospital in Penang . Good management are to be
a nonprofit organisation and are in the best position to control and show a good example of a well
run , transparent medical college to produce dedicated and honest doctors to servre the rakyat especially
the poor. Please keep control of PMC and the hospital Penang. The Hospital is a very precious asset because
it is very very very costly to run a teaching hospital, They really ,can ,only be run by central governments or
by by foundations supported by very wealthy billionaire benafactors.

PMC course should be made affordable and totally local studies like the rest of the medical schools.
The Irish involvement can be phased out . Malaysians dont need an expensive Irish degree which is
only worth the same recognition wise as a local Malaysian degree, Russian , Indian,Indonesian degree
Those who want a degree from a western country because of plans to emmigrate should not be deceived.
The PMC degree is not an internationally recognised degree.

Please keep costs affordable studies local. Malaysians need only locally recognised degree.I apologise for not stating my real name because of the punishment that could happen to me.

TranungKite Sarang Bloggers Pondan (Tarbiyyah Ulama Sebegini?)

Posted: 06 May 2010 12:13 AM PDT

Mengapa? Kerana mereka takut hendak mendedahkan identiti mereka kepada umum.

Mengapa mereka jadi pondan sebegitu sekali?

Tranungkite kena ubah nama jadi Laman Web Lorong Haji Taib.

Sekian

Khairy, Ezam in the lineup- Mukhriz, full Minister.

For the past week I heard and read about the imminent Cabinet reshuffle to bee soon announced by PM Najib. I heard it is a major one, some are expected names and some are not expected ones which are meant to shoulder responsibilities in place of the current leaders in the states who are not performing.

Bear in mind PM Najib has the unambiguous and explicit rights to choose and announce anyone whom he feels to be at the accurate place and position, even though some quarters may not be delighted to acknowledge it.

Of course there will be some who will feel crippled if the names announced are not to their predilection and their fondness.

There will be some or even many who would be getting the signals that he or she is no more of consequence to the party and government and they should admit that time to retire and live in repentance is the only choice they have in front of them.

It is time for Najib to tell himself, "heck, this is my Cabinet; let me choose whom I think fit. I don't want to be indecisive anymore. I have enough of being nagged by the retiring power brokers who are trying to influence my decision. Just wait, I shall prove that I have 'balls' and I shall just announce it without any exertion".

PM Najib should continue telling himself, "Hey, it is time for me to stop doing cover-up for the mistakes committed by my predecessors, as I have a lot to cover for my own self too".

Okay, as the no1 leader of this Federation he has his own way of trying to get back Selangor and other states controlled by Pakatan Rakyat.

If he thinks by appointing Ezam Mohd Nor to be in the government can lead the party to put up a strong challenge to Selangor PR government in the coming GE than Ezam has the liberty to be chosen and be in the government.

AND if he feels that Khairy Jamaluddin is needed to play big role to save Negri Sembilan of the ailing UMNO/BN ruled state than Khairy should be there. After all he is the National Head of UMNO Youth, and the party delegates were the ones who put him there, not Najib.

PM Najib should be fully aware by now that most of UMNO members and leaders can switch allegiance instantaneously and would support Khairy unequivocally and all the prejudices against him in the yesteryears and months would be forgotten.

That is the main attribute of UMNO members. DS Najib should just announce, then the fluid politicians in UMNO would just follow.

One should be by now understood that leadership in UMNO is far and long gone. Let us just read Selangor in brief. Who is fit to take on the mantle of the state? Let us not mention names here but the fact remains that UMNO has zero viable leadership here.

So far there is no name that fits the slot to shoulder the responsibilities in capturing the state government. Let us be frank to the utmost. Can one tell the public who is the fittest?

What about Kedah? UMNO is facing the same problem. The only one shinning potential is Mukhriz. No one sees anybody else there. If Mukhriz is the pivoting leader in Kedah, where is the wrong, if Najib appoints him as a full Trade Minister?

In all morality Perak is still a PR government…say whatever one likes. Let us all find one leader here. Give one name…Nazri? The definite answer is no. He is the candidate to be retired. Zahid Hamidi?..He is already been given mountable task in Penang which the result is already predictable.

In Perak PR is still the choice of the people there but if I were to say this I would be grounded…but that is the fact. It is not that PR is strong in the sate, but UMNO does not have a viable and trusted leader.

All good leaders are outside UMNO. They have preferences for PAS and some prefer to be in PKR while the rest of the good leaders feel they should stay outside and smoke cigar.

What about MCA? Yes MCA leadership seems to be united after their last party election in the EGM, but the party is not acceptable to the Chinese any further as most of them recognize DAP as more viable and conducive for them.

Even many Malays prefer to vote for DAP if there is a fight between MCA and DAP.

As for PM Najib, there is no moral unfairness if he were to appoint Khairy and Ezam Mohd Nor in the government in the imminent Cabinet reshuffle. Appointing Mukhriz as the full pledge Minister is also not a political offense.

As there is quite a slim chance for BN to recover in the PR ruled state it is always important to defend the states which they are still in control and NS is the state which is at touch and go possibility.

So why deny Khairy. After all other leaders are no better than him…almost everyone has issues against them as well. There is no more clean names in the list of candidates.

Lastly we must appreciate that DS Najib and Khary know each other very well.

Thanks……………………………………Aspan Alias

“2 Elections in Sarawak Mid-May..!!”

Posted: 05 May 2010 10:17 PM PDT

It seems that they will be two elections in the month of May in Sarawak. One involves PRS TDC elections on the 15th of May and the Other P212 By-election on the 16th of May. A Bidayuh BN member was not too happy as there were rumblings on the ground and the tremors could be heard by the opposition in that the PRS TDC should have been put off to a later date.

Instead PRS decided to continue without giving due considerations. PRS should have mobilise all their forces in totality with full concentration and help their SUPP Coalition partner in this by election in Sibu. Isn't PRS a multracial party? Imagine 700 PRS members having a TDC with internal elections in Bintulu? Where is the justification of helping your fellow BN SUPP partner?

PRS grassroots will be rooting for their own people/candidates to ascend the leadership ladder and in that there will be intense lobbying and campaigning for the Vice Presidents and SC posts available. Will those PRS leaders just leave it to chance to see themselves booted out when they are busy campaigning for the Sibu SUPP candidate.? Absolutedly not and we wrote earlier  on April 19th Will SUPP or BN be happy?

In one of the paragraphs of the article we said,"Every help is needed in every byelections/elections for that matter and if one coalition is so busy with its TDC that means they care for themselves more than the BN coalition. What is in the minds of PRS ?

Many theories have sinced surface especially with KM3,CMs successor and now the ground has reveberated to be erupted In Bintulu according to an aide ,"James will tell the whole assembly that N54 Pelagus is PRS and they will field a candidate of their choice. We will determine who we want and BN will have to follow us. They will not be Larry Sng in Pelagus N54″

So its all bargaining and leverage being played by PRS as they want to show their strength and credibility with the inclusion of the Parked YBs and MPs from SPDP they totalled 18 legislators and SUPP is just irrelevant to them. These words have surfaced more than once according to sources within PRS.

Shouldn't PRS be standing alongside PBB in the State political power sharing instead of SUPP? Many question the loyalty of PRS as being the determining factor which SUPP remains more the favoured partner of the BN Sarawak Coalition. {PRS is an offshoot of the now defunct PBDS and PBDS was very instrumental in the 1987 Ming court affair.The remannts of PBDS are still inside PRS and they determine the direction of the party. KM3 has been mentioned and BN Sarawak cannot afford to face a common enemy again}

SUPP then did not play ball with Permas/PBDS and Today the wound might heal but the deep scar remains. It will not go away so easily even after more than 23 years. The fruits are ripening and it seems the time is just about right again and its almost perfect for a final assault of the KM project.

3rd(Third) time lucky who knows and not postponing the TDC is just the tonic for a bigger picture. The bargaining chips are now full in the hands of the dayak leaders in PRS. We go ahead and we invite the Chief Minister to officiate and that is the message very clearly. {We have prepared it long time ago is just a lame excuse and postponing it will be less one issue for the opposition to capitalise. How much again did they pay the blogger..?? Wonder how much audie61 would fetch in the market..??   }

[ FYI PRS TDC LONG OVERDUE DEC 2006 last held AND MAYBE THEY ARE AFRAID TO RUN FOUL OF THE REGISTRAR OF SOCIETIES and PRS COSTITUTION}

The PM needs to address this TDC issue and if the BN candidate suffers and loses by 700 votes to DAP we all know where the blame goes to. Overconfidence has a price and its not only Top echelon leaders who needs to be seen working for the candidate  in Bandar Sibu P212 but also all BN component grassroots.

P212 has a history of a giant killer and who knows the Lau legacy and political continuity might just be this factor of PRS TDC. If SUPP can say the debate with DAP can be put back after the elections no one in BN will begrudge that PRS do theirs and postpone its TDC to a week later. Najib havent you heard of the song,"It's Now or Never…."

The Hotels or organisers will not sue the party for breach of contract nor will travel arrangements be turned upside down. Najib will do well to tell PRS leaders that he wants to come to the TDC a week later. All the component parties in BN will willingly be seen in the PRS TDC and it will be a boost for the party.

Have they thought of the bigger picture or have they got their own agenda..??? You Decide….

SIBU; MCA and GERAKAN's chance to prove it is still relevant

Posted: 05 May 2010 08:32 PM PDT

Sibu is the first by-election where the majority of constituents are Chinese so if the past BY-Elections have all felt like Umno-led by elections due to the demographics, I personally would like to feel a bit out of my league during this by-election.

Sibu is a Foochow town, in fact if you go there you can be forgiven for thinking that it is a provincial metropolis somewhere in Taiwan so the MCA has no excuse for not sending plane loads of their campaigners down to Sibu.

As we know the Chinese community has not shown any meaningful support for Barisan Nasional since the last General Election. This is neither surprising nor unexpected because the Chinese have always been very clear with their politics.

For them politics must create an atmosphere that is conducive for business, first and foremost. Secondly politicians should help preserve their cultural roots. For the longest time MCA played this role very well and the Chinese helped Barisan Nasional maintain its two thirds majority.

For the valuable role of the community, the MCA is rewarded with many cabinet and Government posts and everyone busied themselves with growing the economy and creating prosperity.

In the past 10 years, the Opposition has successfully sowed doubts in the minds of the Chinese with regards to these two important criteria.

Firstly they have convinced the Chinese that, somehow, the BN Government had denied them opportunity. This despite the fact that the moneyed and middle class is made mostly of the Chinese. Chinese business continues to dominate the Malaysian economy but this fact seem to be lost on community leaders.

Despite decades of supporting Chinese vernacular schools despite the national objective of a one-school system and numerous other support for Chinese culture, the community bit Opposition bait that they are losing their way of life.

Well, actually they were told that MCA AND Gerakan are mere Umno lackeys and they just sat there and did not defend themselves.. which is rather peculiar, that is to say suspicious.

We know that the Chinese are far more united in their objectives, if not their politics than the Malays so it is up to the two major communal parties within Barisan Nasional to convince their people that Barisan Nasional has always had and will always have their interest at heart.

This is neither a lie nor an exaggeration because BN leaders realised from early on that there was nothing fundamentally wrong  with the relationship and interdependence between the three major groups in Malaysia.

Admittedly there was a serious, colonial -induced imbalance in the system that needed correction to prevent it toppling over but otherwise everyone is free to carry on with their lives as long as they contribute towards the betterment of the country.

What MCA and Gerakan have to do is re-convince the Chinese of the truth about the country, that itis working well, yes it has faults and these are being dealt with but overall, each community are given the room to flex their muscle in the area that they are best suited for...

You can't get fairer than that can you?

The issue of the ‘machete’

Posted: 05 May 2010 08:49 PM PDT

In the case of the police shooting of the minor, most people are upset because they think the police are too trigger happy.

While this might be true, I think there are other issues involved here too. An  important point is to determine whether there was any 'parang' in the car when the child was shot dead. If there is no parang when the 2 kids drove the car to the mamak stall, and later , after the shooting , there was one found in the car, someone must have planted the parang. If this is the case, then there is an attempt to cover up.

In the States, a president was impeached in the 70s because of his attempt to cover up, or rather his failure to stop the cover-up,  a break-in– The watergate.

If there is an attempt to cover up, then a very grave wrong would  have been done on purpose. If this is so, there must be a full investigation to find out how high the cover up has gone..If any highers-up are involved, they must face the law too.

So it is very important for  the investigators to find out where the parang is from. It si also important to have independent investigators.

Looking at the face of the kids, I really doubt that they were 'robbers' or criminals, even though they had done a wrong in driving a car without a license

What has Malaysian society become?

A doctor too many IV

Posted: 05 May 2010 08:12 PM PDT

At the end of 2008, Malaysia has about 23000 doctors, almost half in private sector.

Our Ministry is trying to achieve a ratio of 1:400 as existed in most OECD countries.

In the haste to achieve this number game, they have forgone quality.

It does not mean the more the better. Look at some of the communist countries like Bulgaria. They have a ratio of 1:200 doctor:population ratio. That does not mean that they have a better healthcare than Britain which has a ratio of 1:450. Another example is Kazakhstan which has a ration of 1:280 , as compared to Australia which has a ratio of 1:400.  Does that means that Kazakhstan has better healthcare than Australia?

Our officials stress too much on achieving numbers. They stress too much on 'form' rather than substance.

If we have well trained doctor which are productive, a ratio of 1:1100, will mean that we are on par with those 1;400 countries with doctors which have low productivity.

Alas, we built 5 star hospitals with lobby bigger than Shangri La, but you dont need 5 star bed to treat diseases. You need clinical acumen , experience, and doctors who communicate with their patients.

As for the question asked by MKO in the last post (A doctor too many 3), it is still ok to get treatment from govt hospital NOW. In 5 to 10 years time, I am not sure. Unless they buck up, and set up a body to oversee the standard of doctors produced, I will not want to get treatment there in 10 years time.

I must stress that I am never against producing doctors. I am not in favour of producing too many INADEQUATELY TRAINED doctors. That would be like producing too many gun-carrying policemen without training them as to when to shoot and when not to shoot.

At the rate we are producing doctors, 4000 a year, we will soon be down to 1:100 ratio.

Let us assume that we have a population of 27 million. Let us assume that the population growth is 3%. So every year, we have an additional 800000 people. Divide 800000 by 400, you get 2000. That means once we achieve a ratio of 1:400, we need only to produce 2000 doctors a year to maintain the ratio found in most advanced country. But we will be producing 4000 local plus 1000 from overseas (India, Indonesia etc..many will be staying put in the place they study like my children). So there will be excess 3000 doctors a year… This will quickly bring our ratio down to perhaps 1:100, and you will find some o the hawkers and taxi drivers with MBBS degree hanging in their stalls or taxis.

Not joking…

And looking at the history of medicine at advanced countries, when their doctor:population ratio decreased, the charges went up, and so was the cost of medical treatment , even when taken into consideration of inflation. This is because those who are competent, will charge higher and do more investigations.

There will come a stage when we have too many doctors, too many lawyers(already happening since some junior lawyers have to pay the senior lawyers to do their chambering), too many nurses, too many hawkers, too many cars, too many motorcycles, too many politicians, too many parties, too many police, too many criminals and too many crooks….. I dread to think of such a day!

As for the suggestion by Stevent in the last post, yes, we can send them overseas to work and gain experience, but which country would take them in if their standard is low? I am sure there is a cutting point where even Singapore would not want to take them in, as is the case now.

So you can still send them, to tag with experience doctors. That would like starting their medical training again and you need to pay overseas doctors money to do that sort of things, and there is really no guarantee these people will come back, once they are competent enough to be able to find a working job overseas.

The whole system is rotten, and all the planners can think of is short term and they are all very short sighted… Ultimately they will  suffer too if there is a drop in medical standard. Because health hits everyone equally, it does not mean that if you are wealthy and powerful, you would not get cancer or immune disorders.. Ultimately, like facing the creator, everyone will have to face health problems, and they will then realise that what a monster they have created in their haste to achieve certain figures… Because a healthcare system without good doctors will be like a monster released ..
