SELAMAT MENGUNDI KEPADA HULU SELANGOR

Zaid Ibrahim will be the victor and Hulu Selangor will have strong voice in Parliament as from tomorrow.

I am not a fortune teller but based on my intuition with some basic scientific and technical observation Zaid will clinch victory with more than 2500 votes over Kamalanathan.

My friends from BN camp who had coffee and tea with me today begged to differ but that was just my opinion and it may be wrong, even though deep in me I feel that is the actual truth to happen.

Some other friends close to me in BN common Center talked to me over the cell phone and e-mails agreed with me without exertion.

They say that they are not competent enough to compete with PAS machinery who works in full steam, while they in the common center spent too much time loitering around without organic result.

They have MBs, Ministers and big leaders but they are not on the ground except for a few like TS Isa Samad. They said that the campaigners from NS performed reasonably well under Isa Samad and that is the consolation point for BN workers.

The big Pakatan rally in mini stadium in KKB attracted not less than 50000 strong crowd of which estimated slightly more than 20000 were voters. It was noticeable that the crowd were engrossed with speeches of Tok Guru Nik Aziz, Lim Guan Eng, TS Khalid Ibrahim and others.

I don't know how big was the crowd with Dr Mahathir and Najib last night but the figure at the mini stadium in KKB can let them compare and calculate the percentage of moral support over there with those big leaders.

Now the campaign period is over and it is time for the voters to exercise their democratic rights fairly in actual sense of democracy.

No matter what comes by let it is all secretive, as much as possible. The quarreling parties should cease to admonish any side from now on.

The democracy is taking place and now is going to be over by 5 pm today. Let all gone be bygone with no harboring of hatred feelings among everyone involved in this by election campaigning process.

Even though we are still miles away to reach democracy of Westminster Abbey, but that is the best that Malaysian democracy can show.

Not that bad after all but there are still ample room for improvement.

To the voters of Hulu Selangor I wish them all the best. Think seriously before casting the vote and appreciate that someone has got to win and the other has got to loose.

That is why we call it an ELECTION.

Najib - Confident or Dumb?

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 01:40 PM PDT

This Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election is now a national referendum on the Prime Minister Najib Razak. Najib has himself declared the by-election a referendum; the Prime Minister has given this election distinct prominence by his declaration and his active involvement in the election campaign.

It has been customary that in any by-elections, the deputy prime minister leads the Barisan National alliance and by design act as a defence mechanism to the reputation and criticism of the party alienating the no.1 from any adverse negative repercussion.

It has been a surprise and shock to many when Najib made the pronouncement and took over the leadership of the campaign machinery. Even had his "boss" campaigning in the constituency and this could be a first for the Malaysian election history where the so called first lady took an active role running the ground campaign.

Either Najib is so sure of winning or he is really that dumb.

Najib has stolen the limelight in this by-election and it is now all about him and maybe his "boss" being included and this is exactly why the no.1 is traditionally not directly involved in any by-elections.

Many were shock at his announcement and some became highly suspicious on his show of confidence and questions begin to arise resulting in the opposing team having to review the strategic battle plan. But then on further contemplation it could just be out of a plain overdose of exuberance especially after meeting world famous leaders and being elevated.

There is now not much option open to Najib as if he loses this election, the pressure both outside and from inside of umno will mount on him. According to an old chinese proverb, "He has now been placed on the altar".

Tonight is the night! Tonight we will know whether Najib is Confident or He is just plain Dumb.

And if he is so confident than we will want to know why he is so confident or what has given him that confidence.

Keep your eye wide open to this Hulu Selangor polling day today, for Najib has led himself to a corner and things could get desperate.

The votes could just be overwhelming.

Thuggery in Hulu Selangor

Magick River

We were at Pakatan Rakyat's closing ceramah at the KKB mini-stadium where more than 50,000 were gathered to mark the end of the intense campaign for the Ulu Selangor parliamentary seat. It was a heady, jubilant atmosphere charged with positive feelings about the outcome of this massively significant "referendum" on the nation's political future.

Because of the immense crowd, me and my friends opted to leave the stadium before Anwar had finished his fiery speech. When we got back to Kg Pertak, we were shocked to find the entrance blocked by a group of men who had parked a couple of motorbikes across the road.

A couple of Temuan youth had been assigned RELA T-shirts and flashlights and instructed to stop people from entering the village. A group of imported Umno heavies (some from Pekida it appears) stood around to provide additional muscle power.

What's utterly sickening is the vicious and violent energy Najib's goons have brought to Malaysian politics. Never have I witnessed such despicable strategies, born of abject fear of losing power.

So far I have not seen any consistencies in the way these ceremonies are conducted by the priests of different temples. And nobody seems to know which priest is doing the right way. Probably I lack religious education, but I can't accept the fact that there are many ways that a religious ceremony or rituals can be conducted. When this happens in almost all the temples that I have been, I have lost confidence in these priest whom I believe are not monitored and their practices are definitely not regulated.
Some of them have clearly deviated from the normal teachings that public knows and understands. Some of the priest claims they can chase the ghosts away and performs strange rituals where goats and chickens are sacrificed. There are also many other strange rituals conducted occasionally but nowadays it is confined to rural areas and estates.
The conduct of some of the priest are also questionable. I have also seen a priest who drinks and dances in a wedding procession in Rawang, a priest that goes to Casino, a priest who wears kilos of jewellery in Kluang, Johor and another priest who says men whose ears are not pierced are not a Hindu. I don't have my ears pierced and immediately I was declared a non-Hindu.
I also have experience where I was given different dates for a wedding ceremony by priest of different temples. Both priests told me that the date given by them are the most auspicious ones.
Only later that I found out that the dates given are those most convenient to the priest to be booked for the wedding ceremony and not really the most auspicious date as claimed. Basically I was conned by two priest from two reputable temples. I believe these priest have conned many people over the years for monetary gains.
There are also some popular priests who goes on air in local radio station to endorse religious products by local companies.
On the other hand, there are also some companies who claims that their products are clean and pure to be used by religious purposes. They use RTM Radio Six to promote their product and uses various religious verses, sayings and quotes with their own interpretation to substantiate their claims.
Who is monitoring the conduct of the priests, temples and those unscrupulous companies who uses the name of god to sell their product. How do the public clarify and find out who is saying and doing the right thing? Where do the public go to if there are any grouses related to conduct of some temples and it's practices?
There may be some writings and guideline in the Tamil newspapers and magazines but usually they are written in a way that confuses the public. What about those who can't read Tamil? Where do they go for information?
I hope the relevant authority will clarify and also start taking action before this goes out of control and more and more people get cheated and unknowingly deviate from true and legitimate Hindu teaching.

MINNAL RTM Media biased against Islam

Hyderabad: Senior journalist and chief editor of Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age, MJ Akbar said that a section of the western media has been reporting certain news with a clear prejudice on issues relating to Islam, Muslims and occupation of Iraq.

He was delivering the 4th Professor S. Bashiruddin Memorial Lecture here on "The traps of prejudice in reporting" on 21 August. The event was jointly organized by Prof. S. Bashiruddin Memorial Committee, Osmania Journalism Alumni Association, Advertising Club, Hyderabad and the AP Chapter of Public Relations Society of India.

He said the print media enjoys an importance as it offers the true picture of everything inspite of the electronic media. He said that there have been large developments in journalism during the last 10-15 years. One of these developments is the new technology and television. Television has made print media a powerful weapon, he said.

Commenting on recent attempts to peddle the theory of the so-called incompatibility of Islam with democracy, he said, "political system should not be confused with religious reality." He said that dictatorship is also prevalent in Hindu and Christian societies. Although the West thinks that Islam is limited to only Arab countries, Muslims are found in great numbers in eastern countries. He said that Bangladesh is a democratic country whereas there are dictatorships in Arab countries courtesy the US.

Commenting on the term 'foreigner,' he said that Mughals are not foreigners as they had developed many fields for which their subjects used to pray for them. Foreigners are those who come here and go away taking our wealth like the British. On Jihad, he said that there is no difference between Dharam Yudh and Jihad. «

Obama is a very friendly guy. But note his expression here. The grim lines. The Democratic Zionists are already pushing back, hard. His choice for CIA head caused a mini-riot in the DNC Zionist enclaves. They want one of their own in that position. They remember Eisenhower and his CIA group. This group didn't want Israel to run riot. When Israel joined France and England in attacking Egypt, he stopped them. The nightmare of the Zionists is for the CIA to be run by non-rightwing neocons. Obama didn't consult with the Zionists in the Democratic House or Senate because he wanted to have someone beholden to him, not Israel, advising him about foreign affairs.

The Zionists in Congress are already up in arms because he won't endorse ethnic cleansing outright. His silence is infuriating them even more than it upsets those of us who are against the butchering of women and children. Look at Jimmy Carter here! He saved America from the stagflation mess. He stood up to Russia in a real way which hurt US farmers who were making money in Russia. But he revealed the gulf between stupid talk about fighting communism and really fighting communism.

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 11:03 AM PDT

Pakatan's grand finale draws thousands

Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has appointed Datuk Zaid Ibrahim to chair a special government body to look after the state's Felda settlers, underscoring the importance of the Malay vote in tomorrow's Hulu Selangor by-election.

In what has become the most keenly-contested by-election since Election 2008, both Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN) have pulled out all the stops in a vote which could define both coalitions' fortunes in the next general election.

In a press statement issued tonight on the eve of tomorrow's vote, Khalid said the special body was aimed at administrating the process of issuing land titles to Felda settlers in the state.

Malays account for 53 per cent of Hulu Selangor's 64,500 voters and there are more than 7,000 mostly Malay Felda settlers in the constituency.

In the last two days, the BN campaign has concentrated its pork-barrel spending on this group of voters.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak raised the ante in the contest by dishing out RM50,000 in cash to 100 settlers and promised more money.

The Prime Minister, who has already called tomorrow's vote a referendum on his administration, has hit the hustings continuously in recent days.

Even before Najib hit the campaign trail, PR has found it tough to penetrate Felda settlements, long considered BN strongholds.

But the PR campaign hoped to hit back with the announcement that Zaid, a former Umno Law Minister, could sort out their long standing grouses about land titles.

Khalid said tonight that Felda settlers were entitled to the land occupied by them because he claimed agreements signed with the federal agency had already expired.

The Selangor mentri besar also pointed out that payments made by settlers to the federal agency were not in line with the profits made by Felda Holdings Berhad, the corporatised investment holding company of the federal land development agency.

He also argued that the state government had never benefitted from handling over its land to the federal agency to be used as settlement land.

"Datuk Zaid Ibrahim was chosen because he is experienced in matters of the law and is able to offer advice on land ownership," said Khalid.

Both BN and PR have traded forecasts of winning tomorrow's vote while working the ground today for every vote.

Najib's BN campaign and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's PR team are separately holding mass rallies tonight in the constituency the size of Malacca in last-ditch efforts to sway voters.

A victory for either coalition could provide the impetus needed to clinch victory in the next general election.

But many observers expect a BN victory tomorrow because of the coalition's massive spending and its slick campaign machinery.

BN must win big to justify Najib's personal involvement in the campaign.

In an unprecedented move, the prime minister himself has led the campaign to ensure MIC information chief, P. Kamalanathan, defeats PKR's Zaid.

BN lost the seat for the first time in its electoral history by a razor-thin 198 votes in Election 2008, which saw the ruling federal coalition humbled in four states and 81 other federal seats.

BN has consistently won the seat with at least a 8,500 votes majority since 1990, when Datuk G. Palanivel began the first of his four terms in the constituency.

For the current campaign, BN has given close to RM60 million in a combination of projects and cash awards to win over the majority of the 64,500 voters in the traditionally pro-BN constituency, which comprises three state seats won by BN in Election 2008.

FULL REPORT KUALA KUBU BARU: Pakatan Rakyat's "grand finale" ceramah at the Kuala Kubu Baru stadium tonight drew close to 15,000 people.
The overflowing crowd at the "mini" stadium is said to have caused concern in the Barisan Nasional camp but some claim that the fears are baseless because most them were outsiders.
Hundreds also made a beeline outside the stadium, hoping to catch a glimpse of the opposition stalwarts.
When PKR candidate for the Hulu Selangor by-election Zaid Ibrahim arrived, he was greeted with rapturous cheer and chants of "Reformasi" and "Undi Zaid Ibrahim".
The crowd also went wild when PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat made an appearance.
PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim, who was caught in a traffic snarl, caused a stir when he arrived riding pillion on a motorcyle.
This was the opposition coalition's final assault, with campaigning drawing to an end at the stroke of midnight.
When a police helicopter hovered above the stadium, DAP supremo Karpal Singh had the crowd in stitches when he quipped, "Rosmah is inside (the helicopter)."
Rosmah Mansor is the wife of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the people needed a representative who would hear their voices, work with them and give them hope.
"If (Barisan Nasional candidate P) Kamalanathan is elected into Parliament, he would not have the guts to stand up against Najib," he added.
Anwar: Umno is out tomorrow
Meanwhile, Zaid told the crowd that Najib has described the by-election as a referendum on his leadership.
"So if BN loses, Najib please step down. In the Westminster system, if the premier steps down, the deputy should step down as well," he said.
Zaid also quoted Najib as saying that BN must win this contest at all costs while his "guru besar" Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that there is no halal or haram in politics.
"We will face this 'ajaran sesat' (deviant teaching) tomorrow. But this is not only about my future, but the future of the nation as well," he said.
When Anwar took to the microphone, the crowd broke into thunderous applause.
"This is not about money or promises. It is about fighting for your dignity," he said to loud cheers.
"Umno mistreats you, then offers you money whenever an election comes around and you forget what they have done to you in the past. But Umno is out tomorrow," he added.
The massive ceramah brought traffic to a standstill in Kuala Kubu Baru, whose streets are usually deserted at this hour.

An eight-day campaign that saw lavish pork barrel spending and blistering personal attacks will probably see Datuk Zaid Ibrahim retaining Hulu Selangor for Pakatan Rakyat (PR), a straw poll indicated tonight.

The Malaysian Insider straw poll showed that Zaid has 49 per cent support while Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate P. Kamalanathan is behind with 40 per cent in the constituency that has 64,500 voters in three state seats.

Another 11 per cent were undecided in the straw poll that asked who would they vote in tomorrow's polling.

In the Batang Kali state seat which is nearest to Kuala Lumpur, PR's Zaid won the support of 70 per cent polled by The Malaysian Insider while Kamalanathan picked up 30 per cent.

Zaid also led in the Kuala Kubu Baru state seat with 45 per cent support against Kamalanathan's 30 per cent while 25 per cent were undecided.

But in Ulu Bernam, those polled picked Kamalanathan who received 55 per cent support against Zaid's 35 per cent, leaving 10 per cent undecided.

The Malaysian Insider also found Zaid was liked by more Malays (23 per cent), Chinese (14 per cent) and Indians (12 per cent).

Kamalanathan won over more Malays (27 per cent) followed by Indians (8 per cent) and Chinese (5 per cent).

The straw poll was conducted today when top leaders from BN and PR including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, PR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat campaigned extensively from morning to night.

Some 85 per cent of those polled had also voted previously in Election 2008 where PKR candidate Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad won narrowly with 198 votes majority.

All those polled said they will vote tomorrow although the Election Comission predicts turnout at 80 per cent in Selangor's first by-election since the 2008 polls.

The Malaysian Insider conducted the straw poll amid predictions by both sides that they will win the seat with BN getting 52 per cent of the vote while others forecast PR will retain it with 53 per cent of votes cast.

One of those polled in Batang Kali, Rosli Nawawi said the candidate's race was a major consideration. "I don't mind choosing anyone as long as he's a Malay," the 58-year-old explained.

"So I will vote for PKR because he is a Malay and also has the potential to be a great MP," he added.

Shamsuddin Salleh said he would pick Kamalanathan as he appeared to have the potential and spirit for the job.

"He is also highly-educated and can speak Malay well. Its not wrong to give him a chance to bring change to Hulu Selangor," said the 70-year-old.

Selvan Nagapan, 35, from Batang Kali said, "of course I will support PKR as it has helped voters here."

"Although it has just been two years in Selangor, they have proved they can serve the people," he added.

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 09:39 AM PDT

Just a hype. When the day came, nothing actually happened. No slippers... just a few anti-Blair banners and placards. It was really anti-climax!

Nope, I wasnt there as I had to attend a function. But I kept track via SMS and few calls to friends who were part of the anti-Blair campaign at the Sunway Convention Centre yesterday morning. Not many Perkasa members attended. Others were university students and NGO members (read here).

What happened? After so much excitement about the demo, it was suddenly reduced from a public rally to a small assembly. I was hoping to see at last 1,000 people based on the response and publicity on blogs and other media.

Poorly organised is perhaps the right word. What could had happened was some parties wanted to claim credit as the main organiser for the rally. I remember what took place when we rallied at the Australian High Commission in February... do you?

And finally, Blair the Liar emerged the winner. Also, organiser Success Resources of Singapore which made good bucks out of it. The former British premier is also paid handsomely for the talks.

Another reason, maybe, is the price of slippers suddenly soared after retailers heard about the 'Thousands Slippers' story. The organisers just couldnt afford it!

1 Day to Hulu Selangor : Acts of A Desperado

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 08:37 AM PDT

Will THIS be the 'deciding' factor tomorrow? You tell me Hulu Selangor!

Giving RM1,000 each to Felda Settlers while promising another RM49,000 more if Selangor was 'recaptured' back by BeEnd in coming 13th General Elections.

Giving RM50,000 each to 100 Orang Asli families in Hulu Selangor while using Jabatan Hal Ehwal Orang Asli jeeps to bring beer and alcohol to 'entertain' the orang asli families for the past 7 days of campaigning.

Promising RM3,000,000 to 4 Chinese primary school IF BeEnd is to win tomorrow's Hulu Selangor by-election.

What about the Indians? Ee-lek po-chi?

Our Mr.PM Najib has been virtually 'throwing' money in this coming by-election. Why? Is it because he's trying to 'swing' back the votes to BeEnd especially in this last minute campaigning where if not mistaken, he has pledged more than RM500 Million to the residents in Hulu Selangor.

Something is not right somewhere. Is he really serious that money politics still relevant these day? Sure boh?? Will you be so sure that people will vote for you even after taking RM100,000 from you? It may still be relevant to our orang asli people who are more naive and simple. But to the Malays and the Chinese, sometimes it will "backfire" especially when you 'only pledged' to pay in case you WIN. What about when you lose? Will Najib be a 'sore-losers' and refuse to pay? I guess everyone knows the answer… Hehe.

One wonder where the heck is MACC? This hopeless government agency has indeed either gone o sleep or holiday with their brothers-in-arm Election Commission as such blantant acts of 'vote-buying' could happen in broad daylight without any shame or fear! The MACC has proven again that they are useless when the figure comes to millions or hundred of millions while continue to hunt down 'ikan bilis' of a few thousand ringgit. This the reason why the more we need to send a clear signal to BeEnd that their End is indeed near starting with this by-election in Hulu Selangor.

More than 50,000 people at KKB? Will they be transformed to votes??? Let's Pray that they will!

Tonight the FINALE of Pakatan Rakyat campaign was held in 'mini' stadium in Kuala Kubu Bharu where according to the twitt of our Penang CM Lim Guan Eng, more than 50,000 has flocked to the stadium to listen to the last minute speech of Pakatan heavy-weights and if these attendance can be 'transformed' into votes, then I really believe a real miracle is in the making. Malaysiakini has also reported that more than 20,ooo people has flocked to the stadium when the report was updated on 10:32 pm.

It has been a near-impossible task for Pakatan Rakyat to muscle with BeEnd jaggernaughts of election machinery but you just can't discount the 'People's Power' when it matters! It is very important that the rakyat be united in all races to say 'enough' to BeEnd and send a clear signal that WE ARE READY FOR THE CHANGE!

Let's do it, Hulu Selangor & Good Luck to Pakatan's candidate Zaid Ibrahim!

Hulu Selangor - BN's blame game; preparing for defeat?

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 07:39 AM PDT

After UMNO sidelined Palanivel to hang high and dry like a sotong (squid), the MIC No 2 was so cheesed off that he said, words to the effect, UMNO shall now be responsible for Kamalanathan's victory.

At best that was Palanivel saying if Kamal were to bomb out in the by-election, blame UMNO. At worst, it could be anything from Palanivel and faction scratching their b@ll$ and picking their noses while drinking kopi-o throughout the campaign period to sabotaging the young upstart picked by UMNO.

Private conversation overheard in HS: Pordah, they can go f* themselves; why the f* should I slog anymore for those @$$h*le$.

Meanwhile, Najib thinking he has sown up the Malay and Indian votes, worries about the forecast 75% (minimum) of Chinese votes, including those cast by HS' MCA members wakakaka, going to Zaid Ibrahim. So he piled the pressure on the new MCA leadership by declaring the HS by-election is the acid test for Chua and Liow.

Private conversation overheard in HS: Mafulat, ta'sangka ahli MCA undi ni kaki botol juga!

Tapi Datuk, orang Cina syiok kaki yamseng lah hehehhe!
[thinking he was smart making a joke]

[cold stare a la Tun Razak - joker shut up, straightened face and assumed apologetic welfare face]

Janji 3 juta untuk sekolah china jikalau BN menang. "Oi ah Pek ah Mm, lu latang Kialar Lumpoe cali saya jikalau Ah Larn menang. Saya bagi cek."

However Chua said victory for Alan (I'm sure by now you know who) is the responsibility of all BN component parties.

Private conversation overheard in HS: Tiu nia seng, your man called our women 'kai' (chicken) and you still expect the Chinese to support your man, or the MCA kena blame. Real harmkarch'an lah. Ah Larn? Nah, your Larn T'ooi lah! Watch me serve the responsibility back like Datuk Lee Chong Wei.

Hulu Selangor P94: PKR so desperate they are forging Perkasa Letterheads

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 05:41 AM PDT

PKR's situation is so dire after beign abandoned by PAS until Nik Aziz's arrival yesterday... and even then it appears that Malay voters are not convinced abotu Zaid's drinking and gambling track record, and that is before they start looking at his anti-Malay sentiments and anti-Hudud stance...

With the candidate mortally wounded, Pakatan has no choice but to start spreading lies, this time they desperately forged Perkasa's letterhead and created a flyer to ask Malay voters to vote for a Malay candidate...

Of course we all know that Zaid Ibrahim is only Malay in name so it remains to be seen how effective the fake lettter on a forged letterhead is...

but hey, a drowning man will clutch at straws, a dying political party will do anything to survive...

As Anwar's links with the ZIonists become more and more clear, there is little doubt that Malays wills shy away from his party, especially since it is now so clearly fighting only for Anwar Ibrahim's dreams of becoming Prime Minister....

Xavier: This is the most expensive election

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 04:31 AM PDT

Selangor State Exco Dr Xavier Jayakumar, caught in between Pakatan centres in the Hulu Selangor by-election, claims that this is the most expensive by-election the country has ever had. "If you add up all the payments and the goodies (dished out by BN) it looks like it's coming from a bottomless pit," he said. Felcra workers, claimed Jayakumar are getting RM153 million and 'that's a huge sum of money to spend in a by-election in Hulu Selangor ... Video by Citizen Journalist Arvind Raj.

Some choose the party, many more choose the candidate.

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 03:50 AM PDT

Dr Mahathir, Najib, Muhyiddin and many other big guns are in Hulu Selangor campaigning for BN.

Dr Mahathir is supporting the party not the candidate this time around and let him alone knows why he changes goal post too often.

Listening to his advice can be deceiving as I am one of those who took his advice to support the candidate not the party.

His argument then was that if we choose the party, the candidate chosen by the party may be the wrong one.

So he advised us strongly that we should choose the candidate not the party.

Now he is supporting the party which has obviously chosen a wrong candidate to the mind and opinion of many voters in Hulu Selangor.

But there are still many who still take his previous advice that is to choose the candidate not the party and that explains why BN is shivering cold in Hulu Selangor.

There is no point taking his current advice because when time changes he may be back to advise us to choose the candidate, not the party.

Now he is in Hulu Selangor because the feeling on the ground is that both party and the candidate are rejected by the people in the constituency.

Zaid has taken over the attention of the voters of Hulu Selangor at this current moment.

To Datuk Zaid, I wish him luck and all the best. You are indeed the better candidate.

Thanks……………………………………………Aspan Alias

Islam equals hypocrisy par excellence

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 06:57 AM PDT

Muslims love to prattle on about how warlike the 'infidels' are, especially America or anyone that can be portrayed as one of America's friends.  A recent op-ed in a Malaysian government-controlled newspaper*, The Star, excoriated former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, stating in this piece that "Malaysia must not allow this mass murderer to be immune from justice."  So says the author of said piece, one "Professor Shad Saleem Farudi". OK, I get it...America is evil and so is anyone that cooperates with America.

Meanwhile, Muslims who are actually engaged in ongoing mass murder of the worse sort imaginable--bombings and shootings of Muslims praying at mosques, bombings of Muslims being patched back together from said bombings in emergency rooms, bombings of Muslims who are attending funerals of other bombing/shooting victims--this merits, at most, only a passing mention in the Malaysian media.  Actually, such barbarisms are usually not mentioned at all, not in what passes as the 'Malaysian media'.  Not even a hint of condemnation is to be heard.

Tony Blair stands accused by many Muslims and Muslim groups as being a 'war criminal' and for committing 'crimes against humanity', while Saddam Hussein (may he rot in hell) is never similarly accused in the Muslim media.  Yes, Saddam is mercifully dead, thanks to the efforts of alleged 'war criminal' Tony Blair and others, but the authors of the real war crimes described above--the Taliban--are quite alive and well. And still, their enormous crimes are at best ignored, and perhaps tacitly accepted, by Malaysians of all stripes, both inside and outside the government and media.

Malaysia and its people studiously do nothing to fight against those who wantonly murder civilians, including women and children, in schools, mosques, hospitals, and elsewhere.  Why?  Because this means Malaysia would be openly seen to be helping Americans fight Muslims, you see.  Meanwhile, the aforementioned self-righteous Mister Shad Saleem Farudi of course cannot even be bothered to write a perfunctory proforma letter to the editor to speak ill of his fellow co-religionists, the Taliban, or of their many real war crimes.  Only infidels commit crimes against humanity, never Muslims.  Never mind the facts.  And when reality gets in the way, well, you just invent your own reality, like Mr. Farudi and his fellow Mohammedans have done.

All of this has made one thing loud and clear to me.  To be a Muslim means to be a hypocrite par excellence.

*All of the 'mainstream media' in Malaysia is government-controlled to some degree--nothing is published or remains in print or on TV without government permission.

Perbezaan diantara ulamak dan ahlul politik

Posted: 24 Apr 2010 03:30 AM PDT

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Demikianlah cara orang yang bijaksana berfikir. Tidak taat membuta tuli atau taksub tanpa usul periksa akan agenda seseorang ahli politik itu.
Agama tidak menghalalkan memaki hamun dan memfitnah mana mana saingan politik. Diwaktu yang sama, adab bersiyasah tidak memberi ruang kepada mana mana penggiat politik untuk melakukan sesuatu yang bersalahan kepada hukum hakam Ad Deenul Islam mahupun melanggar tatacara dan adat resam turun temurun peradaban Melayu didalam berpolitik secara kasar dan penuh tipu daya dan muslihat semata mata mahu mengejar kuasa secara mutlak tanpa mengambil kira akan natijahnya terhadap anak bangsa dan negara.
Saya menyeru kepada saudara dan saudari para pembaca supaya menghayati isi kandungan artikel Prof Dato Dr Ismail Ibrahim ini dengan lebih mendalam lagi serta sebarkan kepada rangkaian kenalan anda.
Berbalik kepada persoalan tajuk 'Yang mana satu ulamak dan yang mana pula ahlul politik?'
Sudah dapat kenalpasti belum?
