That's right, the politics of fear is probably the most effective political strategy ever discovered by Politikus.
UMNOPutra has been using it all the times. There was May 13, there was Loss of Ketuanan Melayu, there was ... you name it, they will do it just make sure you are scare of something except them!
A little confused? I'd try to explain a little harder next time, right now, take a look at US. The Yanks also do that .. 911 is one but they are more civilized. They do it professionally and unlike our Sakai, they kill wantonly. Check them out: -
It's nonsense, of course, but effective. The be-very-afraid approach helped former President George W. Bush ram laws through Congress that chipped away at Americans' rights. He used it to get re-elected in 2004. Now the Republicans are playing the fear card for the fall elections.
The most recent target is the Obama administration's handling of the failed Christmas Day bomber, particularly its decision (an absolutely correct one) to have the F.B.I. arrest and interrogate the suspect and file federal terrorism charges rather than throw him into a military prison where the Republicans seem to expect that he would be given no rights, questioned and held without charges.
Senator Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, suggested — without any evidence — that vital intelligence was lost by that approach. Senator Mitch McConnell, the minority leader, told Politico that he wants to block financing for civilian trials of terrorism suspects so Republicans can brag about it this fall. He said "the core question is whether the attorney general of the United States ought to be in charge of the war on terror."
As Mr. McConnell should know perfectly well, that is not the question at all, core or otherwise. The Obama administration has embraced the idea of using military tribunals for some terrorism suspects. The Christmas bombing suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was arrested in the United States. The American justice system does not allow people arrested in the United States for serious offenses to be detained and held without access to an attorney.
It is good that the administration is pushing back.
In a five-page letter to Mr. McConnell, Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. said that the handling of Mr. Abdulmutallab followed the sensible practices of presidents of both parties. Although Mr. Abdulmutallab stopped talking at one point, he has since begun cooperating, according to administration officials. Law enforcement agents know that many defendants talk after being told of their right to remain silent, Mr. Holder noted.
Republicans like to say that Mr. Obama is giving new rights to terrorists. But Mr. Holder's letter noted that the Bush administration prosecuted more than 300 people on terrorism-related charges in federal courts without a whiff of complaint from those same Republicans. He said those included Richard Reid, the so-called shoe bomber; Zacarias Moussaoui, the only person convicted of involvement in the Sept. 11 attacks; the man charged with plotting to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge; and another who schemed to bomb the Los Angeles airport.
The Republican propaganda is a distraction from the real issue: that the counterterrorism system is malfunctioning more than eight years after the Sept. 11 attacks. Like many of the nation's other problems, Mr. Obama inherited this one. For eight years, Congress failed in its legal duty to oversee the intelligence community and the basic operational tasks of the Department of Homeland Security and correct the abusive system of detention at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and elsewhere that made our country more vulnerable, not less.
Congress should be helping the president fix those problems, not piling up sound bites for November and trying to bring that shameful detention system home.

The following is an analysis of Malaysia's Independence horoscope; giving the most effective representation of her life cycles acting as a crucial backdrop to the rise of different Prime Ministers. This analysis deploys the most fundamental of astrological principles shifting only the context from that of an exoteric/esoteric individual to that of a collective and mundane entity. I am also using the Saturnine planets in particular as they are more representative of the deep-seated undercurrents that move the citizenship through 'collective' time.
st9,10/(7). The nation's rajayogakaraka Saturn is placed in a digbala 7th bhava; 11th to the 9th, 10th to the 10th, implying betterment accruing from partnerships, and of its 'extended' vision. This is potentially beautiful, but we should find a PM with a positively significant Saturn in his own horoscope, and in affinity with the nation's own for this to happen. Typically, this 'partner' deal will take long in coming before it is sealed favorably and mutually.
ur10/3. Everything to do with information, its communications, technology, processes, transportation and its authorities. There will be unique achievements in this area. Uranus is typical of new-ness such as typical of new inventions, new technologies, methodologies, etc. Its occupation of the 3rd house of communications and messaging brings to mind Malaysia's Multimedia SuperCorridor initiative that put her on the map of the digital world. As 10th ruler, that Uranus puts her 'vision' into the 3rd house; relating, communicating, reporting, documenting, etc. This will put Malaysia at the forefront of pioneering a new mode of communication effectiveness. It'd be amusing to think that this would apply to the adoption of the English Language to become the de facto Bahasa, the official working and nifying language of a multi-racial Malaysian society.
np11/5,(6). This is not an encouraging place for a planet representing grand visions. Fiscally, the 6th house is more deficit than anything else. It promises financial obligations, debts, and even legalitites relating to such obligations. It's even worse if Neptune rules 11th of gains and 5th of enterprise as is this case. I fear that the 'entrepreneurialism' of the country will backfire against an unprepared or immature stewardship of such an enterprise. This same position however, suggests that a turnaround is possible if a greater sense of service to community is enforced at street level. Judging by this, the 'national service' style with a focus on 'character development' of the youth does not fit the bill for this Neptune position.
pl7/3,(4). The nation becomes a dynamic representative of global issues or take the rein of leadership of world bodies. Pluto as 7th ruler reveals 'partners' to be a major significance. But within orb of the 4th bhava cusp, it is even further accentuated; telling me that a major spurt of progress to the next higher level will happen with a crucial partnership. At the worst, this is a typical position for internal unrest. The basic home structure will be disrupted, old values rooted out, new values implanted, new initiative for newly installed visions. This has happened before, but this horoscope relates to the probability of a post-independence future time-frame.
In my next posting, you'll find my analysis of the inter-planetary configuration of these planets in the whole horoscope as opposed to the above singular positional analysis.
Indian astrology is deep stuffs eh?

Kini UMNO berusia 23 tahun, PKR pula berusia 13 tahun.

I did wonder how much more damage the ruling coalition could possibly inflict on our nation.
Our ratings are down, and our once stellar reputation is steadily going down the drain.
From The Malaysian Insider:
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — Events since New Year's Day have given the Hong Kong-based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC) the impression that the situation in Malaysia is becoming increasingly unstable.
You'd think the government would know when to slink away quietly and lick its wounds in silence.
They issue a feeble response (albeit with plenty of posturing) that only serves to reiterate what PERC claims, what investors have long suspected and what we, unfortunately, already know.
On my drive back home from work yesterday, the newsreader almost sounded apologetic as she announced the government claims that someone out there has a "hidden agenda", which according to Muhyiddin Yassin is the reason behind this report.
"I think they must be talking through their nose," he said.
Yes, someone is talking through their nose indeed, but it certainly isn't PERC.

According to my sources, a Selangor MP may be implicated in a hit and run while Driving Under Influence of alcohol (DUI).
The victim is now lying in a coma.
It is said that the victim is a university student and the family of the victim is thinking of suing the pants off the said MP.
My sources will not say who the MP is or which party the MP represents..
All my source will say is that if convicted the jail sentence will probably be more than two years...that will mean the constituents will no longer have a representative in Parliament.
Hmm.. this is very poor example by a Member of Parliament.
I strongly feel that this MP must bear the full force of the law and be made a stern example.
DUI is a serious offence.
DUI is a very selfish offence
DUI is a major killer on our roads and an MP committing this offence deserves the dimmest view from society
I hope the police will speed up the investigation and the mainstream Press will pick up on this case and make it public

Our police investigators are getting even busier. Not only to distinguish all evidence in Anwar-Saiful sodomy trial but also other cases. Things are not getting any easier either. At the same time, the Force has to attend to its routine.
So many reports are lodged. Now its about Kit Siang and Nizar (who lost the legal battle with Zambry over Perak MB post... read Rockybru), the murder and sodomy of a toddler, bank robberies, rapes, blackmails, etc.
Latest is how RPK's son Raja Azman Raja Petra swallowed a razor blade and cut his wrist on Monday in what the police described as a suicide attempt. Azman, 34, is under remand at the Sungai Buloh prison pending investigation on four charges against him for housebreakings and theft (read h e r e...)
There must be reasons why he did that.... and where is his father Raja Petra Kamaruddin, the editor of Malaysia Today? Still enjoying life in London, staying in what is believed to be Kalimullah's apartment?
I think RPK should come back and visit his son, whom I think is under mounting stress. Or could his father was part of the reasons why Azman tried to kill himself? Hmmm...
No more comment.

For real or not was the first question asked by audie61 to the SPDP DSG Paul Igai on what has been speculated by many on the defections of the 5 Assemblyman and 3 SC members on this hot blistering day in Kuching. It certainly turned out that way there was even an article by the internet portal"Malaysianmirror" which we will reposts and share with all of you.
Certainly Paul said he was quoted but its not to that extend and there will be NO FIREWORKS from them as we are about to welcome the Year of the Tiger. Plainly he said,"they are just seeking advices and there are no preemptive move by them to just leave the party."
Its more an internal matter and we will be together UNITED AS ONE to ensure that the party maintains all its seat and deliver it in totality to the State Barisan National. In politics its always about COMPROMISE AND FINDING SOLUTIONS . Its no different in SPDP and for them to seek advises its their democratic right which has turned out for the better good of SPDP as a whole.
The Malaysian Mirror article:-KUCHING – The deputy secretary general of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), Paul Igai, said today that the party is aware of the move by the five elected representatives and three members of its supreme council to leave the party.
"Yes, we are aware of their move, but we still want them to come back," said Igai who is also a political secretary to the Chief Minister.
He said: "We must, instead, reconsolidate and re-energise the party. Focus must be on the strength of the party and the Barisan Nasional in view of the coming state election.
"Parking permits must never be an option. They are still needed in the party," said Igai.
He said the party president, William Mawan, had met the Chief Minister and the chairman of the State Barisan Nasional, Abdul Taib Mahmud, to explain the party crisis.
Political observers, however, see the crisis has worsened because of the move by the five elected representatives and three of the supreme council members to quit the party.
The elected representatives are Sylvester Enteri (state assemblyman for Marudi), Peter Nansian (state assemblyman for Tasik Biru), Rosey Yunus (state assemblywoman for Bekenu), Paulus Gumbang (state assemblyman for Batu Danau) and Dr. Tiki Lafe (MP for Mas Gading)..
The three supreme council members are Peter Gani, George Garai and Eda Egar.
According to highly-placed sources, the group met the Sarawak Chief Minister on Wednesday to inform him of their decision to leave SPDP. They are asking to be parked with Parti Rakyat Sarawak which is headed by James Masing.
Last Thursday, they met with the Prime Minister informing him of their decision to leave the party.
The sources said that they were told by the Prime Minister not to form another party as they might not be able to join Barisan Nasional later.
Maintaining status quo
But the Prime Minister was said to have told them to consult the Chief Minister as to which party they should be parked.
The crisis precipitated last month after Mawan dropped Enteri as secretary general and replaced him with state assemblyman for Ba'Kelalan Nelson Balang Rining,
Enteri accused Mawan of not honouring his promise of maintaining status quo after listing him as one of the "President's men" before the party went for its election last year.
A PRS leader, who refused to be identified, has welcomed the move by the group to be parked with PRS as it would not only enlarge the party's elected representatives, but would also open the way for the merger of Dayak-based parties.
Currently, PRS has nine state assemblymen and six MPs
An SPDP member after reading this article said,"Lets just usher in the YEAR OF THE TIGER with COLOURFUL FIREWORKS and he said tell him if there is a PRESS CONFERENCE TELLING THE MASS MEDIA THAT THEY ARE LEAVING and let me on behalf of SPDP wish everyone a very Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year. Kong Xi Fa Cai……………….."

Raja Petra Kamaruddin, or commonly known as RPK, who blogs under MalaysiaToday, his whereabout are still unknown to the Malaysian Police although he frequently writes in MalaysiaToday.
The articles he writes and publishes are very critical and most readers feel its factual and interesting to read.
Raja Petra Kamaruddin is wanted for failing to appear in court on two occasions last year over a sedition charge. He is accused of defaming the Prime Ministers wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, in an article published in MalaysiaToday.Today, it was reported that Anuar Shaari, a former Finance Ministry officer who worked for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim between 1996 and 1998, arrived at the Melaka Tengah district police station today and spoke to Melaka Tengah OCPD ACP Salehhudin Abd Rahman to pass on the information on RPK's alleged whereabouts.
Will the Police ever find RPK ?

Malaysians must learn to notice the difference between political posturing and real championing of the people's interests.

Clearly distracted from the sumptuous spread on his banana leaf, he let it all fly, accusing newspapers of breaching new levels of banality and unfairness.

Umno executive secretary, Datuk Abdul Rauf Yusoh, has vehemently denied a Malaysian student's allegation that he made racist remarks at an Umno Club function in London a few days ago.
Rauf led an Umno delegation to London to meet with party members there in a private closed-door meeting earlier this week. There the student, Ahmad Naim Mazlan, heard the party official refer to non-Malays as "bangsa asing" who were trampling on the Malays in "Tanah Melayu".
But Rauf denied making any derogatory remarks, stressing that the session was a closed-door meeting and no one outside should be listening in to what was being discussed.
"This was a closed door session... this is not true, because what I said was that Malays must sustain power in order to gain respect from the Chinese and other races," Rauf told The Malaysian Insider in a telephone interview.
The top Umno official went to great lengths to point out that the function was a party function for "Kelab Umno" and was not a public forum organised by the Malaysian Students Department.
"I think the student who overheard, his BM (Malay language) was not very good," he added.
The student in London also claimed to have overheard Rauf and an "Umno Youth Exco" defending Datuk Nasir Safar's recent racist tirade against non-Malays.
Nasir resigned as special officer to the Prime Minister shortly after controversy erupted over an allegedly racist statement he made at a 1 Malaysia seminar in Malacca. It was alleged that he said, "Indians came to Malaysia as beggars and Chinese especially the women came to sell their bodies"
"I am not supporting Nasir Safar at all! I am supporting what he said. Let me just put it this way — there is a right forum to talk about Malay interests, and what Nasir Safar did was not right, talking like that in public.
"If it was discussed behind a closed door session, its normal, but he said it outside... what he said was not right," said Rauf, who used to be the Umno Youth assistant secretary," Rauf said.
He also maintained that Umno is essentially a Malay party, therefore it was an acceptable practice for Umno to talk about "Malay interests".

Doctor's attending to blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin's son, Raja Azman, have decided not to surgically remove the razor blade in his stomach.
According to one of his lawyers, they felt it was unnecessary as the blade had broken in two and should be allowed to exit the natural way.The lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Raja Azman, warded at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, is in stable condition. He is handcuffed to his bed with prison guards on duty.
"We are making an application today to see him during the long Chinese New Year break," he told Malaysiakini.
Raja Azman (left), had used the blade to slash his wrist before swallowing it. It is not immediately known how the blade found its way to his cell.
Yesterday, it was reported that Raja Azman had been warded since Tuesday night incident.
Gombak police chief Abdul Rahim Abdullah in confirming this said a weak Raja Azman was spotted in his cell at the Sungai Buloh prison by a warder.
Raja Petra had claimed in his blog that his son inflicted the injuries on himself as he could no longer take the physical and mental torture he was subjected to by the prison authorities.
Rahim, however, refused to comment on the allegation, saying only that investigations were at the early stage.
Raja Azman under pressure
The lawyer confirmed that his client had been assaulted by two prison guards in his cell.He said the incident happened late last year, when they found a hand phone in the cell which held 30 inmates.
They beat up Raja Azman on suspicion that the handphone belonged to him.
"This was related to us by Raja Azman at one of his recent court hearings ," he said, adding that questions could be raised on how a handphone could be smuggled into a cell.
The lawyer also said Raja Azman was been placed in solitary confinement for several days after the assault.
Asked why the victim did not report the incident to the police, the lawyer said he believed that no action would be taken.
"When Raja Petra lodged a police report at the Sentul police station last year that Muslim Internal Security Act detainees in Kamunting, were not allowed to perform Friday prayers, the matter was not investigated.
"The police could have investigated the truth of such allegations by asking him or taking action against Raja Petra for lodging a false report if it was wrong.
However, nothing happened," he said.Hence, the lawyer said Raja Azman also believed that there would be no police action against the prison guards if a report against them had been lodged.
"However, it is better that Raja Azman is out of the prison," he said.
The lawyer said it was puzzling the razor blade and handphone could have made their way in prison cells.
Raja Azman, the second child of Raja Petra, had been remanded after he claimed trial at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court to four counts of theft, and receiving stolen property and criminal trespass.
He was accused of stealing a Nokia mobile phone, a Seiko watch, and a bunch of motorcycle keys, all worth about RM3,850, belonging to student Saipul Adli Mohamad Yunus, 21, at No 16, Jalan Sastera, U2/1K, Section U2, Shah Alam, at about 10am on April 2, last year.
It was reported in the Malaysia Today website run by Raja Petra that his son was subjected to further beatings earlier in the week and was transferred to a 'punishment cell'.
It was during the confinement that the razor blade apparently made an appearance.
