BACK TO ZERO FACTOR SOLUTION

BACK TO ZERO FACTOR SOLUTION ,SO THE THE TRANSITION PLAN IS OUR

- Umno vice president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today the postponement of the party elections to March next year indicates a new deadline had been set for party president Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi to step down.
"It was earlier decided 2010, but at today's meeting the president and deputy president indicated that the postponement from December to March is to facilitate earlier transition, you can analyze anyway you want, but as far as I am concern, maybe a new deadline has been set, but let the president make the announcement," he told reporters after the supreme council special meeting t
"I sense magnanimity in making this decision which is very important for the party," said the International Trade and Industry Minister. When asked whether he was satisfied with the decision, as it is still unclear whether March 2009 is the new deadline, Muhyiddin said: "There must be some element of trust on the decision made today, there is no need for unnecessary speculation."
Most importantly, we have to wait before the divisional meetings as the divisions need a clear sign whether the president will defend his position, it is not for me to say, but wait for his announcement," said Muhyiddin.
"Let's not pre-empt what is going to be. I cannot go beyond that," he said.
He added that the postponement reflects the sentiment on the ground and will not affect Abdullah's integrity.
"Whatever decision we make it must not split the party and adversely affect the president's image," said Muhyiddin.
"This is the best time to close ranks, because we have a bigger agenda to bring back the confidence and rebuilding the Barisan Nasional," he added.Muhyiddin was the first senior Umno leader to urge Abdullah to reconsider the 2010 deadline.
.
SO THE TRANSITION PLAN IS OUT, IT IS NOW WHO IS GOING TO CHELLENGE TENGU KU? FOR THE PRESIDENT POST,WHO IS GOING TO CHENLLANGE MUHYIDDIN FOR THE DUTY PRESIDENT POST?

SEPT 25 – ON THE FACE OF IT, POSTPONING THE PARTY ELECTIONS UNTIL JUNE NEXT YEAR HELPS PRIME MINISTER ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE IN UMNO.

HE CAN REMAIN AS PARTY PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER AND HAVE ANOTHER SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS TO COMPLETE SOME REFORMS AND SALVAGE HIS LEGACY.

OFFICIALS FAMILIAR WITH THE SERIES OF MEETINGS ON THE TRANSITION PLAN BETWEEN ABDULLAH AND DATUK SERI NAJIB TUN RAZAK SAY THAT THE PM WAS NOT SOLD ON THE IDEA WHEN HIS NUMBER TWO RAISED IT ON TUESDAY.

THAT POSTPONING THE PARTY ELECTIONS WOULD OPEN UMNO TO RIDICULE FROM MALAYSIANS (MANY OF WHOM ALREADY VIEW THE PARTY IN DIM LIGHT NO THANKS TO THE LIKES OF AHMAD ISMAIL, ETC) AND CREATE EVEN MORE UNHAPPINESS AMONG THE PARTY GRASSROOTS, WHO HAVE SPENT THE LAST FEW MONTHS PREPARING FOR THE ELECTIONS.

ABDULLAH'S SUPPORTERS HAVE ANOTHER REASON TO OBJECT TO PUSHING BACK THE ELECTION DATE: IT PAINTS ABDULLAH AS A DESPERATE LEADER WHO IS WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO STAY ON AS PARTY PRESIDENT. AND THIS INCLUDES STAYING ON IN A LAME DUCK CAPACITY.

AN UMNO SUPREME COUNCIL MEMBER, WHO IS ALIGNED TO ABDULLAH, TOLD THE MALAYSIAN INSIDER: "NAJIB SHOULD EITHER SUPPORT THE TRANSITION PLAN OR TELL PM THAT HE CANNOT DO SO. THEN PAK LAH CAN GO ON AND TRY AND GET THE NOMINATIONS TO DEFEND HIS POSITION. THIS IS MORE HONOURABLE THAN TRYING TO STAY ON LIKE THIS…THIS IDEA OF POSTPONING THE ELECTIONS AND THEN HANDING THE POSITION TO NAJIB ONLY BENEFITS NAJIB."

HOW SO?

IT APPEARS THAT THE DPM HAS LOST CONTROL OF HIS OWN WARLORDS ON THE GROUND. HE ADMITTED AS MUCH IN TALKS WITH SEVERAL SUPREME COUNCIL MEMBERS RECENTLY.

AS SUCH, HE IS UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO RISK THE BACKLASH FROM THEM IF HE CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE TRANSITION PLAN WHICH WILL SEE ABDULLAH CONTESTING THE PARTY ELECTIONS IN DECEMBER AND THEN HANDING OVER POWER TO NAJIB IN 2010.

NAJIB BELIEVES THAT IF HE SUPPORTS THE TRANSITION PLAN UNCONDITIONALLY, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT HE AND ABDULLAH WILL HAVE TO FACE OFF WITH TAN SRI MUHYIDDIN YASSIN, TENGKU RAZALEIGH HAMZAH AND OTHER CRITICS OF THE PM.

HE HAS TOLD HIS SUPPORTERS THAT HE IS CONFIDENT THAT HE AND ABDULLAH WILL BE ABLE TO EMERGE VICTORIOUS BUT WAS WORRIED THAT IT WILL COME AT A HIGH PRICE.

ON THE FLIP SIDE, IF HE DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM ABDULLAH'S TRANSITION PLAN, THIS IS BOUND TO PERSUADE THE PM TO WAGE AN ALL OUT CAMPAIGN TO OBTAIN AT LEAST 58 NOMINATIONS FROM THE DIVISIONS AND DEFEND HIS PARTY PRESIDENT'S POSITION.

IN THIS SCENARIO, NAJIB MAY HAVE TO FACE OFF WITH ABDULLAH, A BATTLE WHICH COULD BE EXPENSIVE FOR A POLITICIAN STILL RECOVERING FROM A BATTERING TO HIS IMAGE BY THE OPPOSITION.

SO THE SAFEST OPTION FOR NAJIB WAS TO COBBLE TOGETHER A PLAN WHICH ACHIEVED THE TWIN OBJECTIVES OF ALLOWING ABDULLAH TO REMAIN IN HIS POSITION FOR A FEW MORE MONTHS WITHOUT COMMITTING TO THE 2010 TRANSITION PLAN.

HE BELIEVES THAT POSTPONING THE PARTY ELECTIONS WILL KEEP THE PEACE IN THE PARTY AND ALLOW ALL THE STAKEHOLDERS TO WALK AWAY WITH SOMETHING.

AND YES, IT WILL ALLOW NAJIB TO INHERIT AN INTACT UMNO.
AND AS A BONUS HE WILL NOT HAVE TO SEEK NOMINATIONS FROM DIVISIONS WHICH HAVE BECOME INCREASINGLY CONFRONTATIONAL TOWARDS HIM SINCE THE PERMATANG PAUH BY-ELECTION DEFEAT ON AUGUST 26.
HE REASONED
A WIN-WIN PROPOSITION FOR A MAN WITH PRECIOUS FEW OPTIONS.

ONLY IN THEORY, IT SEEMS .

Mahathir still wants it his way

After Datuk Seri Najib Razak met Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad last week, he was hopeful that the sniping from the sidelines against the party leadership would stop.

The Deputy Prime Minister discussed current political developments and the transition plan and pointed out that it could all become pear-shaped for Umno if animosity between its top names continued to fester.

Najib did not get a commitment that the verbal volleys from Dr Mahathir would cease but he was hopeful. He was wrong.

Yesterday, Dr Mahathir lashed out at Abdullah and Najib, sensing that the transition plan could survive the pressure it has come under from party officials since the Permatang Pauh by-election defeat. He also turned on the Umno supreme council, saying that it had become the personal instrument of the party president.

Writing in his blog, he drew attention to the supreme council meeting last Thursday where several members including Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz urged Abdullah to short circuit his transition plan.

"It appears that the words used by some of the members were very strong. Rafidah Aziz even attacked the roles played by Abdullah's son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin and the PM's son Kamaluddin.

"So harsh were the words used that Abdullah's face changed and he was reeling from the onslaught when Najib, ever the protector of Abdullah, stopped the proceedings. Najib promised he would speak on the matter with Abdullah.

"It seems that the other supreme council members were not happy as once again controversial council matters were made into private deals between Abdullah and Najib," he said.

Since the March 8 general election, Dr Mahathir has been championing for Abdullah's removal, saying that he must take responsibility for the electoral setback suffered by Barisan Nasional.

Initially, he promoted Najib as the successor but this relationship soured when the DPM accepted the transition plan which will see him take control of the party in 2010.

Najib's commitment to the plan has wavered somewhat after the by-election defeat and he recently said that divisions should be the arbiter on whether Abdullah should contest the party elections in December and then hand over power to him later.

Abdullah's supporters interpreted this statement as a signal from the DPM that he was willing to accept nominations from the divisions for the top post. The PM has since reiterated that he will contest the top post and his supporters have promised a no-holds-barred fight against any challenger, even Najib.

Dr Mahathir accused Abdullah of turning to his son Kamaluddin, son-in-law Khairy and even his wife Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah for advice when faced with a tricky situation. It would be the same this time too, he said.

"It is well known that the family is enjoying the power and freedom to shape Abdullah's decisions based on their own personal interest i.e., to accumulate as much wealth as possible and to ensure Khairy's political ambitions, including to become the country's youngest Prime Minister," said Dr Mahathir, who has attacked Abdullah publicly since 2006 after believing that his legacy in the country was being diminished by his successor.

He noted that by the time Abdullah meets Najib, the former would have been briefed by his family on what to say.

"And Najib being Najib would then accept Abdullah's solution to the problem. In this case he would want to insist on staying until June 2010 or maybe a short while before. Najib would then have the task of selling this solution to the supreme council," said Dr Mahathir.

The former prime minister's tirade against the supreme council is surprising because when he was the party president he ruled supreme over the council. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim found this out after he was sacked from government in September 1998.

Anwar has always said that he never received a fair hearing from the council, which presumed him guilty of

They call me a cyber terrorist

By LUKE HUNT, Bangkok Post

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sweeping by-election victory takes him one step closer to power. Raja Petra Kamarudin is one of his most vociferous supporters and the man behind the Malaysia Today news website.

To ordinary Malaysians, Raja Petra is something like a rock star. As publisher and editor of Malaysia Today, the self-confessed hippie has delighted his fans by turning up the heat on the nation's troubled politicians, who vainly attempt to rebuke him or feign indifference whenever his name is mentioned.

"They call me a cyber terrorist," he says with a smile and a slight sense of bewilderment.

Politicians try to dismiss him as a mere blogger, which in Malaysian parlance is a term with its own nuances as the country's leaders eagerly attempt to relegate their critics to the status of second-class citizens because they communicate through the Internet as opposed to the mainstream media.

Former Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin referred to Raja Petra and other bloggers as off-key karaoke singers who like the sound of their own voices, but lack real public influence. Azril Amin, vice-president of the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia, once wrote that Raja Petra had failed to meet his responsibilities by defaming Islamic organisations. He also said Raja Petra had a confused misunderstanding of Islam and was appalled by his "vulgar-languaged polemic".

Such attacks might hold some credibility if the very popular Malaysia Today was a flop. Instead the website has become a target for hackers — many suspect supporters of the Barisan Nasional — since it scored a massive five million hits over two days in July last year as Raja Petra was summoned to a police station to respond to defamation charges.

He is now facing a charge of sedition and a further three charges of criminal defamation for alleging that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was linked to the brutal 2006 murder of a beautiful Mongolian model, Altantuya Shaaribuu, a crime that has captured the attention of the nation.

Najib has denied the allegations and gone so far as to swear in a mosque that he never met or had anything to do with the dead woman.

Raja Petra is also being investigated after casting doubt on the validity of a second sodomy charge, a crime in mostly Muslim Malaysia, being brought against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"They're charging me with everything except spitting on the street," says Raja Petra.

We're sitting on the veranda of a modest restaurant in the middle-class suburb of Bangsar, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.

Raja Petra's wife, Marina, is nearby, and the patrons, waiters and people walking past are acutely aware of Raja Petra — who is vainly attempting to light a pipe — and what he stands for. Friends call him "RPK" or "Pete".

At the heart of Malaysia Today remains what is cherished most by Raja Petra; honesty, transparency and accountability. But the recipe for success is much less noble; an old-fashioned racy mix of corruption and politics, laced with sex and murder.

And there's no shortage of material, fuelled by scandal-prone politicians who have felt the wrath of voters at the ballot box and risk being thrown out of government by Anwar, who is also Raja Petra's politician of choice.

"I think he'll be the next prime minister," he said.

That choice was a long time coming.

Raja Petra first met Anwar as a teenager. Born in England to Selangor royalty through his father and with a Welsh mother, he was later educated at one of Malaysia's top boarding schools, the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK), known then as the "Eton of the East", where Anwar was three years his senior, a prefect and unloved. "I never shared his political sentiments, he represented everything I was against," he said of Anwar, whose political career dates back to his school days. "There was certainly no love for him then."

Nothing personal, Anwar — it was the 1960s. Politicians and the Establishment were out of favour and even the school's old boys were railing against their British roots, referring to Eton as the "MCKK of the West".

"I didn't like politics, nor Anwar so much, it was what he represented," Raja Petra said.

"I became a biker, so did my wife, I was 17 and she was young and we became part of the Malay chapter of Hell's Angels."

"We were anti-establishment, anti-Vietnam War, I wanted marijuana legalised, I was a hippy and into Woodstock. We grew our hair long when everyone else wore their hair short. When people grew their hair long we shaved — maybe we just never grew out of that, going against the system."

Those sentiments changed only slightly over the next 30 years as the first of five children arrived.

At home, the television channel was changed every time Anwar's face popped up on the screen.

But in 1998, Anwar was sacked by then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, almost beaten to death and jailed for six years on corruption and sodomy charges, although the sodomy charge was later dropped.

"When he was first sacked, my initial reaction was 'Serves you bloody right'. Then he was beaten and a lot of people sympathised with him overnight."

"This is just wrong; a government cannot do that, he was sacked for political reasons, nothing else, and now no one believes in this second sodomy charge," he said.

And perhaps there is a touch of the Old Etonian about Raja Petra. He says it's all about respect for authority, position and age, a healthy respect that he reserves even for Dr Mahathir, who he partially blames for eroding the importance of their alma mater.

"When Mahathir came to power he held Cabinet meetings on Wednesdays, the same day that old boys would wear their school ties. Half the Cabinet turned up with the same tie on, and Mahathir asked why so many people were wearing the same tie. The habit abruptly stopped," he said.

"However, Mahathir still gets my respect. I kiss his hand when we meet and people ask me why? It's a Malay sign of respect. He is an older man and that is the way we respect our elders. We may not agree with you but you are an ex-prime minister and in your eighties," he said. "The same goes for Anwar. You can't beat up a former deputy PM, beat him and nearly kill him."

It was at that point the former motorcycle dealer and rice distributor became involved in politics. He joined a new party that over 10 years has evolved into the multiracial Parti Keadilan Rakyat — Anwar's main political vehicle in his attempt to oust the government — and established Malaysia Today.

Raja Petra is delighted to list his proudest moments; the stories that linked senior police officers with senior underworld figures, the government's involvement with the United Nations Oil-for-Food scandal in Iraq and lurid tales of lavish gifts involving Malaysian leaders and their extra-marital affairs.

The accuracy of his reports has left many wondering who his sources are, especially when he can detail an alleged meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Najib and Saiful Bukhari Azlan who made the second sodomy allegation against Anwar shortly after Anwar announced he would garner enough defections to form a new government after the Barisan Nasional's abysmal showing in the March general election.

At that poll, the BN coalition led by Umno lost the two-thirds majority it had held in Parliament since independence in 1957. Prime Minister Datuk Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has since announced he will hand over power to his troubled deputy, Najib, in mid-2010.

Raja Petra also uncovered another alleged meeting in Room 619 of the Concorde Hotel in Kuala Lumpur between Saiful and a police officer named Mohammad Rodwan Mohammad Yousef, just one day before the sodomy allegedly took place. Rodwan was also involved with the initial charges of sodomy against Anwar made 10 years earlier.

His doubts also extend to the current trial of two police officers for the murder of Altantuya. "They wouldn't know the difference between C4 and Plasticine," he says with a touch of mirth, referring to the way the model's body was disposed of — by being blown up by explosives.

Is he wrong?

Raja Petra is quick to point out that nobody has refuted any of the claims made on Malaysia Today, instead he is dismissed as a "blogger".

"They won't deny it," he says.

Initially, charges of making a false statement, which would require proof, were brought against him but later dropped. Instead he was charged with sedition and criminal defamation, where truth is not a defence.

"And I'm told I'm the first person ever to be charged under this law (criminal defamation)."

Raja Petra is left despondent by the tactics. He sighs and finally lights his pipe.

And who are his sources?

But that's one subject he won't discuss.

The timing of the scandal Smell exactly the same. correct, correct, correct Najib it's written on the wall, time to checkout before you are shipout like the two engine

Dont blame the Government!

Posted: 10 Jan 2010 06:35 AM PST

For the first time ever, I would like to differ from what Rockybru wrote today - blaming it totally on the government. Even what Lim Kit Siang opined about the urgency for Najib and Hishamuddin to act on the day the Allah issue erupted, was mere a political inveterate.

I dont work for the government, thus I dont have an eulogy for Najib or Hisham or the rest of them. However, Datuk Seri Najib was not irresolute, neither did he treat the matter as frivolous.

Afterall, those who forms the anti-ISA group are the ones coming back to the government for the Internal Security Act to be applied on those caught and convicted for torching up churches in the Klang Valley, Taiping and Sarawak. A 'surau' was also attacked.

Now that many parties have made calls for the Council of Rulers to intervene, some are also trying to lucre on the issue by making statements that can somehow invigorates others to join the 'blame-the-government' bandwagon.

The government's action was not too late. Perhaps its better to observe and study the matter first rather than jumping off the chair immediately after the court gave the rights for Herald to use the word Allah.

Why? This is a Muslim country, as stated in the Constitution. Had Najib avowed his dejection at the court's decision about two weeks ago, then the backlash will be upon the Muslim-lead government. Many would question his sincerity in managing a multi-racial country under his 1Malaysia concept.

There was actually no need for him to lose his balance as the upshot would be very, very damaging for Barisan Nasional. Umno would be blamed, too as being racist. In his capacity, Najib was wise as compared to some Opposition leaders who jumped out of vertigo.

Even Hisham didnt make any unpleasant statements after the court's ruling, apart from calling on all Malaysians, especially the Muslims to stay calm as the issue can be resolved. A few days later, the Home Ministry filed an appeal at the same court for the ruling to be overturned. As the ruling was made under the process of law, let the whole matter be resolved at the hands of law again!

Nevertheless, some groups were fast to take to the streets on the pretext of trying to protect the rights of the Muslims. These groups are mostly from the Opposition. Pas started it all by making unhealthy yet contradictory remarks about the issue. Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was never heard except for what he wrote in his weblog.

The Opposition was leaving it to Pas to come up with counter statements. Even so, Pas made silly errors in doing so by saying it was actually alright for non-Muslims to use the Allah phrase (when speaking to non-Bahasa media). However, they were very protective by telling Bahasa media that Allah must be strictly for Muslims and Islam only!

When few NGOs with Opposition-link took to the streets, then came others. Had they heeded

Hisham's call for everybody to stay calm and just leave it to the government to settle the issue amicably, it wouldnt had led to some lunatics succumbing to their emotions by attacking churches and other place of worships.

And now, why are you looking at the government with askance? Why must you make so many circumlocutions? The government is in fact wanting to hold on to a policy of mediocrity as to avoid accusations of being partial in making any decision or action. Whatever action must lead to building new scabs on the old ones (I hope we understand this well enough).

Some politicians had since the last few days made superficial statements that what's taking place in the country now is a
spina bifida to the economy, that foreign tourists are beginning to shy away from coming to Malaysia. This is absurd, unless we let alone foreign media to exaggerate the incidents and blow it out of proportions.

Another question - are you sure that those who carried out the attacks are Malays? Could it be others who had the intention to create chaos in the country? Whom do they work for?

We have read reports that during the US occupation of Iraq, the Yankees were also involved in killing a few of their own countrymen to substantiate reasons to launch major military assault on the civilians. Its so simple - just kill one or two comrades and blame it on the insurgents. Is there any possibility to what happened here?

I remember during my short stint in Iraq in 1983. In Basrah, Saddam Hussein will normally troop a few thousand Shiite soldiers at the frontline of every offensive against the Iranians. They were the ones who got the bullets and the napalm gas first!

In this context, I dont Najib and his Cabinet members were late in their actions. There was enough pre-empt statements issued for the public to stay calms. However, political movements sparked it off and it gave steam to a few individuals to become gremlins.

Those involved, directly of not should instead be blame for this
faux pas. Some people or quarters are involved in this cahood. Some even turned the incidents as a beano, especially those who felt their way of attending to the issue is somewhat a success.

As Malaysians, we should appreciate what the government is doing to redress the issue. We cannot be shortsighted about it. Its time to stop pointing fingers at each other. This is our country that some people tried to wreck. Instead of finding faults in others, why not give the government a hand?

Dont you think bickering over this issue will lead us to nowhere?

Leave it to the authority when it comes to sensitive and delicate matters like this. We have the Malay proverb for this - ibarat menarik benang dalam tepung, benang tak putus, tepung tak berselerak.

p/s Bru, bro... no offend!

WHY BLAME MELAYU?...

It could have been a cheap Hollywood movie script with anticipated conclusion had the most convenient suspect would have done it. It was to be too easy for the ensuring investigation to have an open and shut case instantaneously had it been that the known suspect been the hand behind the arson and molotov cocktail attacks at Christian places in and outside Klang Valey.

No I do not think us Malays are behind all these. We aint that predictable, simply.

It could have been the work of some people with obvious motive to drive a wedge between us Muslim, the believers and the non-believers in this Allah-blessed country.

It would have been clearly an incongruently and unhesitantly stupid for the Melayu to go around in bikes throwing molotov cocktails and so-called fire bombs to places used by non-believers on weekends.

Our escalating problem today started when some non-believers with unannounced but clear objective were handed down a High Court decision allowing them to use the name ALLAH Subaha Nawataala in their selected publications meant for the certain segments of non-believers.

ALLAH SWBT is exclusively for the believers, period.

And believers we are, us Muslims....Ya Ayuhalazi Na'amanu.....

Churches Attacked in Sarawak, Perak and Melaka (malaysiakini)

More churches have come under attack in Sarawak, Perak and Melaka, revealed the authorities.

According to Bernama, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said a church in Miri was the target for attempted arson in Sarawak.

However, he said the situation was under control.

"The public need not worry, and they must not be influenced by reports on the internet or (rumours circulating) through SMS," he added.

Perak police chief Zulkifli Abdullah said there was no damage to the All Saints Church, the oldest Anglican church in the country (left), while the school's guard post suffered only minor damage.

According to Bernama, he said the church keeper realised the incident at 7.30am and reported the matter to the police.

Police, who went to the scene, found two black spots on the church wall and two broken bottles believed to have been used in the incident, he said when contacted.

He added that police believed the incidents were perpetrated by opportunist individuals out to take advantage of the current issue.

He said police had stepped up the monitoring of houses of worship in the state and urged the public to remain calm.

According to Malaysiakini correspondent Humayun Kabir, St Louis Church, which sits adjacent to SM Convent was also struck with a bottle containing flammable liquid but with little damage.

In Melaka, Chinese daily Nanyang Siang Pau sent out a news alert that the police have confirmed that the Melaka Baptist church in Durian Daun was splashed with black paint.

Over the past two days, four churches in the Klang Valley were hit by petrol bombs.

The Metro Tabernacle Church in Desa Melawati, the Assumption Church and Life Chapel Church, both in Petaling Jaya were attacked by unknown assailants between midnight and the early hours of Friday morning.

Yesterday, it was reported that the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Petaling Jaya was also attacked.

The Metro Tabernacle Church was worst hit - the ground floor of its three-storey building was completely gutted, while the other three churches suffered minor damages.

Perbuatan Membakar Gereja Mungkin Didalangi Oleh UMNO Serta Elemen Luar

Posted: 10 Jan 2010 01:42 AM PST

Pengaruh Luar Mungkin Terlibat

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in southwest Kuala Lumpur was the latest target. There were no reports of injuries. -- PHOTO: AFP

Mungkinkah Ada Pengaruh Dalaman Yang Mempengaruhi Tindakan Pelampau Ini?

Orang Kristian Harus Rasional Dan Jangan Mengikut Rentak Islam

Thank You.

Churches Fire-Bombed In Malaysia

Posted: 10 Jan 2010 04:46 AM PST

It comes as no surprise that we have made it on CNN - again, for all the wrong reasons.

If you haven't been following closely the developments in Kuala Lumpur, the high court ruled last week that the Herald weekly (a Catholic magazine) had the right to use the word "Allah", after a long-running dispute with the UMNO government who banned it for 3 years.

It shocked Jihad Watch, the rabid, froth-at-the-mouth anti-Islam group but the bastards had the last laugh. Unfortunately.

Well, after 5 churches and 1 school being firebombed by the extremists - the Metro Tabernacle, the Church of Assumption, Life Chapel, Good Shepherd Lutheran and All Saints Church in Taiping - Malaysia's reputation as a "moderate Muslim country" has gone up in flames.

No pun intended.

The white banner at the centre reads: "It is not only our heads that they are stepping on, but they are making fun of Allah too!!! Holy War! Holy War! Allah Is Great! Allah Is Great! Allah Is Great!"

It evidently escapes these village idiots that the Catholics are using the word "Allah" to refer to their God, so at which point are they "making fun"?

SABM and a few other civil initiatives have strongly condemned the cowardly acts.

But UMNO is desperate. They will stoop to anything just to stay in power (and I suspect regaining control through emergency rule), even if it means wrecking this country apart.

UMNO - A Seasonal Party

Posted: 10 Jan 2010 08:02 AM PST

UMNO has exchanged attributes with opposition parties. UMNO's existence is just seen at the high level while down on the at the Division and Branch level UMNO is technically dead, lifeless and breathless.

Conversely the opposition parties are more energetic and hands on with the people on the ground through innovative, imaginative and creative approaches that position them close to the people.

UMNO seems to be like the oppositions of 2 decades ago when they are only seen to exist 'just before' and 'during election' weeks.

Now the opposition is casually saying that UMNO's existence is apparent and noticeable only during an election and it exists seasonally.

UMNO has abandoned all activities in almost all Divisions as their leaders are too busy with personal politicking in Kuala Lumpur spending a lot of their valuable time in Ministers' offices carrying files and documents for businesses which they in the end fail to secure.

More often than not, those files and documents are not even theirs: those are files and profiles of companies owned by others normally by big Chinamen who do not have easy accessibility to the leaders who have good signatures.

These brokers earn retainers while soliciting the jobs and subsequently being paid commissions after the jobs have been awarded by the government through their friendly Ministers and inside connections.

While big leaders in Kuala Lumpur are fleshy with eloquent rhetoric, leaders and members of the party down there at the branches are blinking without activities.

PAS and PKR have managed to make up their existence and they are being seen to be near to the public and active working out their programs with the public active participations.

Their leaders are always within their vicinity for interactions and continuously being fed with latest up dates of the goings and comings of the nation's politics.

The day when UMNO branch heads were active drawing up programs and activities for their members and their neighborhood is obviously gone in oblivion.

I have been spending quite a number of hours a week with these branch heads whom I am still in touch with and I am convinced that lack of money as the main reason for their helplessness to function as branch heads.

We know that UMNO and money is synonymous. No money, no UMNO.

"Sekarang ni Ketua Bahagian tak bagi duit untuk bergerak bang! Takkan saya nak pakai duit sendiri sebab saya sendiri pun nak pakai duit."

Quite a number say, "Dia orang buat kerja dapat projeklah, dapat duit dari sepak terajang sana sini! Yang kita ni disuruhnya buat kerja macam lembu…sorrylah bang!"

Some say, "Kalau buat program pun orang tak datang bang! Kalau PKR dan PAS buat ramai orang datang. Kita tempah karipap, mee goreng, teh tarik dan macam-macam lagi orang tak datang juga. Jadi malulah kat PAS dan PKR."

Days back a branch leader told me, "Kita kalau buat program, akhirnya penceramah kita ceramah kat kita, jawatankuasa cawangan-cawangan. Apa faedahnya?"

This environment can't go on perpetually as it is going to trap us tightly in the next General Elections.

UMNO have lost the main constituent and essential of strength: that is hard working and committed activists to labor their energy and mind for their party.

There must be reasons for this ungainly and graceless attitude and values of the members at the ground level.

They cease to pay attention to program organized by UMNO as they have perceived themselves as being made tools by their opportunist leaders who sell the support they get from the people at the ground level for their personal benefits like getting businesses and position with lucrative remunerations.

For past more than two decades UMNO made decisions without referring to the people especially through UMNO and that slowly but surely made the people on the ground felt left out in any major decisions made by the government.

That is why all the while my mind is so engulfed by performances history.

Administration pre Mahathir was more people oriented as every government decision which involved public interest, the public would be informed and opinion from the people would be sought after.

The information departments at district level were so involved in disseminating information through civic courses organized by the lowest government administration, the JKKK.

The idea was to tell the people what the government program were besides getting feedbacks and reactions from the people on the ground.

By doing so, the people were made to feel involved in major government decisions and they physiologically perceived that they were closed to the government of the day.

As from Mahathir's regime decision were top-bottom and the people just had to accept what his administration did.

From then on the people and the government were slowly distanced away and the government did not get the actual feelings of the people on anything the government did.

Dr Mahathir just did everything his way and that made him so unpopular among the people towards the end of his premiership.

Consequentially the people just voted for Abdullah Badawi's administration when he succeeded Dr Mahathir in 2004 with landslide victory. The people were just waiting for anybody else to lead as long as it was not Dr Mahathir in that General Election.

But Abdullah was all the way honeymooning from the day one he took over until his retirement and nothing has changed but only changed for the worst.

Najib took over 10 months back but he did not get the legitimacy of his leadership by calling the General Election but instead just follow through with Abdullah's ungainly government until today.

He should have called for the GE while at his infant months of his premiership before all the current divisive and hot issues surfaced.

Now it may be too late for Najib to call the GE as issues after issues are surfacing and to call for GE at this current environment would only invite for sudden death to BN like what was faced by Liberal Democrat Party of Japan in August 2009 election.

UMNO and BN are now trapped in a very tight spot: trapped in between calling the GE now with humiliating and mortifying performance and calling the GE in 2013 which is exceedingly risky as other mountable issues are coming in streams to weaken Najib and his weak government.

The issues surrounding the government are by no mean small but very vulnerable. No one can really size up the actual support from the people for this government…it can be slightly better or much more devastating than Abdullah's regime.

What do we do now? Can we just rely on the Juara Rakyat program that was launched by Najib yesterday to do the repair job? Is that enough?

Let's talk about it.

THE DEATH KNELL TO 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT OF NAJIB

Posted: 09 Jan 2010 11:14 PM PST

The Catholic Church was compelled to go to the courts to protect its Congregations constitutional rights to use the generic word "Allah" in the Bible. The High Court on December 31 of 2009 ruled that the Christians have a right to the use of the generic term. However, immediately after the ruling was made public, certain sections of the Muslims made it clear that they were going to stage a demonstration after their Friday prayers on January 8 2010, which they did, in a small way.

In the meantime the government had filed an appeal and had made an application for a stay of execution of the decision and the Catholic Church consented to the order. Instead of letting the issue to be determined by the courts, it had become a great political debate and a political game.

Mahathir, the great pseudo Malay, started to fan the flames of discontent of a small section of the Muslims. He, had propagated that the courts would not be able to resolve this dispute. But, Mahathir conveniently forgot that when he was the Prime Minister of this nation for 22 years, it was he who had put a stop to the Catholics of Sabah and Sarawak from printing the Bible in the Malay language and using the word "Allah."

Let it not be forgotten or overlooked, that the natives of Sabah and Sarawak, have been praying in the Malay language for hundreds of years. Their earliest printed Bibles in the Malay language go back to the early 1800, where the word "Allah" is printed therein.

So who is the cause of this current challenge made by the Catholic Church?

The writing is on the wall. On the other hand Najib as a responsible Prime Minister was  expected to be astute and decisive. He failed miserably in his duties and responsibilities to a nation of diverse people who have to inevitably live and meet on a daily basis where their cultures and faiths meet and interpenetrate at a dizzying pace.

However, early last week Hishammuudin when questioned by reporters on the planned demonstrations gave a feeble reply. Instead of stating that the government will not tolerate such demonstrations, this good for nothing mid-eastern mixed blood pseudo Malay stated that people should have the freedom to express their views. Subsequently, Najib endorsed the views expressed by his cousin.

The perpetrators of the demonstrations took the cue that they have received the tacit approval and the blessing of Najib and went ahead with their actions without any remorse. The police force did not take much action on these idiots who endeavoured to become a public nuisance, all in the name of "Allah" who is the one and only God to all human beings.

The government in the first place should have realized that God does not need any assistance from any mortal fallible human beings to regulate religion. In the final analysis the government has failed to realize that it cannot force any adult to change any of his/her thoughts. As Reinhold Niebuhr has rightly stated " The sad duty of politics is to establish justice in a sinful world."

Therefore, Najib should have exercised the power of his government to defend the inheritance of our civilization and the established order of our civil society, however imperfect it may be.

Needless to say, Najib gave his tacit approval to the religious fanatics to demonstrate on last Friday. This irresponsible act of Najib gave rise to the seeds of tyranny and aggression being sown. And the result was the consequences which was even worst than what would have happened in a war. As even in a war places of worship are never destroyed.

Of all persons, Najib should have realized that under his 1Malaysia Concept he should have mastered the nature of our social fabric and the state in which the said fabric was in, when Najib decided to launch the said concept. Nevertheless the concept is now dead.

It in now apparent that Najib is a hypocrite as he has demonstrated that he vainly does not believe that he has himself mastered the said concept to be the substitute for equality as provided for in Article 8 of the Federal Constitution.

What Najib has done is to demonstrate to the world that he believes in the concept of pure religion. He has miserably failed to act in an unbiased manner. He has failed to demonstrate to the people of this multiracial and religious nation that there is no cure for the pride of a particular group of virtuous people in respect of a particular religion. But instead Najib turned it into a political issue to gain political mileage and now faces the peril for his ignoble conduct.

Now, after several Churches have been firebombed or there were attempts made which did not bring to fruition the desired results, the well known megalomaniac of a Prime Minister states that "In every society there are people who break the law." (The Star on January 10 2010) What a lame statement.

It is high time that the politicians of all strips either from the ruling government or the opposition realize that "Religion" is a way of life. It is an individual's belief and faith in a supernatural being and that such kind of faith or belief is like the belief in the Barisan National or the Pakatan Rakyat or in a belief in the concept of liberalism or conservatism.

There is no way that any government can regulate the image making faculty of a man's mind. A man's imagination of his religion or his other beliefs or for that matter a custom or tradition makes it real to him. Hence, a belief, custom or tradition cannot be regulated. But it is the responsibility of the government to regulate the actions of men or an individual to protect the interest of other people in this nation of ours.

Najib, the days of waiving the Kris and behaving like a Cave Man is over. We now live in a borderless and globalize world and the people can interpret the hidden messages of politicians which can be transmitted universally at the speed of light. We do not need to rely on the spin that is given by the main stream feeble print media.

There is now available to the masses the visual culture where there is the publication of visual images. These images coupled with voice reproduction, speaks more than a thousand words. As the poet and critic Rachel Lindsay characterized as the "hieroglyphic civilization." This civilization has opened up the possibilities of reproducing visual images where people can visualize human acts and conduct in a new variety of ways.

Under these prevailing circumstances, it is best that you and your moribund Cabinet Members educate yourselves on the fact that the government has to uphold Article 8 of the Federal Constitution, without bias.

All the Bartizan National politicians must learn with pain that there will be no lasting peace in this beautiful nation of ours should the government and all its henchmen, fail in their duties not merely to tolerate but must respect the faith of all the people of this nation just like their own.

This is premised on the fact that no government however powerful it may be can dictate to adult human beings on what to belief in or how to think.

Umno juara pengganas

Posted: 09 Jan 2010 11:34 PM PST

Di mana pihak Polis berupaya hantar 3000 pengawai polis ketapak pengundian, kenapa pula bila jadi kes pebcerobohan PENGGANAS UMNO, beliau memberikan alas an sedemikian??

PRESS STATEMENT - HINDRAF-CANDLE VIGIL TO PROTEST AGAINST STATE SPONSORED ARSON

Posted: 09 Jan 2010 11:27 PM PST

By Joe Fernandez

PRESS STATEMENT 10th JANUARY 2010.

RE: ARSON ATTACK ON 4 CHURCHES.
CANDLE VIGIL TO PROTEST AGAINST STATE SPONSORED ARSON.

Hindraf condemns the recent torching of the churches in Malaysia by the incitement of the politically motivated UMNO led government.

There is nothing beyond an iota of doubt topped up with a tacit blessing by the PM in stating that those UMNO sponsored NGO's should proceed and stage their protest against the High Court judgment that lead to the torching of the churches. Whatever UMNO may say now, it is clear from the happenings of the previous several days, that there were signals of encouragement both subtle and overt by various UMNO leaders.

In the current scenario, the High Court judgement is being exploited by the UMNO led government in their state sponsored arson action hoping to create an unrest amongst the public by fanning the religious issues to strengthen their withering support from the public through fear and intimidation.

Besides these bombings, the utterances of the Muslim zealots after the Friday prayers on the 8th of January 2009 are very threatening and seditious. The UMNO Government should prosecute those involved for sedition. . Freedom of religion as guaranteed in the constitution continues to be a pie in the sky.

Nonetheless, the UMNO led government fails to realize that the public is much more matured and in tune with the current state of the country and the failure and double standard that is being conducted by the current administration.

To express our serious concern and in solidarity with our Christian Malaysians, HINDRAF is organizing a candle light vigil in protest of the violent arson attack against the churches. All peace loving and democratic minded Malaysian brothers and sisters are invited to join us to express our concerns on the deteriorating Freedom of Religion and Minority Rights situation in the country and for us all in one voice to let it be known that these violent and criminal acts must be dealt with in the strongest of terms by the Government.

Date : 13th January 2010.
Time : 8.00pm
Location: Entrance (Outside) Assumption Church
Jalan Templer Next to Assunta Hospital.
Those Malaysians who are keen to join hand with us in this peaceful vigil, please contact our National Information coordinator S.Jayathas on 012-6362287.

Thank you

Sabah politician sees fire bombings as the end game

Posted: 09 Jan 2010 11:23 PM PST

By Joe Fernandez

The federal government can longer bank on solid returns from the Christian electoral fixed deposits in Sabah and Sarawak in the wake of yesterday's arson attacks on churches in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

"There are parallels in the church fire-bombings and the temple demolishing that preceded the 2008 political tsunami in peninsular Malaysia," said Jeffrey Kitingan, the Pakatan Rakyat head for the two states, in an exclusive interview yesterday evening with Malaysiakini in Kota Kinabalu.

Jeffrey is also convinced that Chinese voters, not just the Christians, and many god-fearing Muslims as well in East Malaysia will abandon Umno in the next General Elections.

He dismisses BN (Barisan Nasional) which, according to him, has ceased to exist following the emergence of the Pakatan Rakyat.

"It is bad enough that the Customs are sitting on our Bahasa Indonesia language Bibles for using the word Allah," said Jeffrey. He added that the arson incidents could erase all doubts among the community.

Jeffrey, also responsible for strategies in Sabah and Sarawak as PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) national vice-president, thinks that even the debate in the courts over the term Allah had not been enough so far to budge the rural vote bank from Umno's vice-like grip.

"I am more a man of the intellect rather than the heart and emotions," he confessed.
"But even I was emotionally moved beyond words when I first saw the graphic pictures of the church fire-bombings in peninsular Malaysia. Tears welled up in my eyes for the first time since my detention under the ISA (Internal Security Act)."

Hindraf example for E. Malayasia

The Sabah strongman thinks those pictures will have a devastating effect in the rural heartland of East Malaysia.

He does not deny that local politicians will not be averse to embellishing stories of the incidents, actual and rumoured, with their own versions.

This is what happened among Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Front) activists in the wake of temple demolishing, he added. "Indian voters were stirred in the 67 parliamentary seats where they are in some numbers..."

Jeffrey (left) does not think the arson attacks were isolated incidents which could be excused as the work of "some cowards or fanatics".

He's convinced the Umno Government's handling of the Allah issue was the inspiration and the clearest evidence that "the party is up to no good in the emerging new politics of the nation".

"I think that there are certain elements in Umno who have this thinking that when it comes to the crunch, they must be willing to employ strong-arm tactics to remain in power," said Jeffrey.

"This means deliberately embarking on a campaign of intimidation and instilling fear to beat others into submission."

"It is ironic that people in peninsular Malaysia would demonstrate over us in far away Sabah and Sarawak using the term Allah for God in our Bible and prayers," said Jeffrey.

And God had rested for three centuries....

"Allah is not an issue among the Christian community in peninsular Malaysia but among us on this side of the South China Sea. By what right do people in the peninsular decide, after 300 years, what we call our God?"

He cited a surah (chapter 29, verse 46) from the Holy Quran: ". . . and do not debate with the people of the book (Christians and Jews) except with decorum, except those who are belligerent among them, and say to them we believe in the books/scriptures that had been brought to us and unto thee; my God and your God is one; and only to Him do we submit."

He gives this as an example of Islam the Faith as practiced by fellow-PR partner PAS unlike the Islam the Politics propagated by Umno.

Jeffrey reiterated that the demonstrations and the church fire-bombings were politically-motivated and well-organised acts "designed to intimidate the people of Sabah and Sarawak into total submission".

Prime Minister Najib and his cousin Hishammudin (Home Minister) were literally encouraging the demonstrators, he added.

Raw deal sentiment growing stronger

"It's becoming increasingly clear with each passing year to Sabah and Sarawak that this Malaysia has been a raw deal for us," said Jeffrey.

"It's not just peninsular Malaysian intimidation of us over the Allah issue. We are in fact coming to the tail-end of nearly 50 years of neo-colonialist exploitation."

The veteran Sabah politician, long noted for his campaign for autonomy and state rights, sees Umno as being unable to redeem itself after having inherited the mantle of power from the departing British colonialists.

"After 50 years, surely we have to ask ourselves whether we still want a party which is no better than the British colonialists. Where is our freedom?" asked Jeffrey.

"They indulge in divide-and-rule tactics like the British, treat us like slaves, are trying to introduce racial polarization a la Malaya and exploit our resources without developing our states."

Jeffrey points out that he does not want to "sound like a broken record stuck in the same groove" by reciting the litany of Federal Government transgressions in Sabah and Sarawak besides the Allah issue.

"Mark my words. Umno is bent on systematically creating political chaos in the country to save itself out of the hole it had dug itself into over the years," warned Jeffrey.

"Everyone is beginning to see the hollowness of Prime Minister Najib's so-called 1Malaysia theme. It was too good to be true."

POLICE SHOULD STEP UP SURVEILLANCE OF MOSQUE & CHURCHES

Posted: 09 Jan 2010 11:35 PM PST

Since many more churches have been attacked by arson, the time has come for the Malaysian Police Force to show that they are the protectors of Malaysians and their properties to perform their duty to safeguard them.

Rather than just giving advice and staying stationed in fenced-up police stations, police personnel should be mobilised to make more frequent rounds to mosque and churches around their vicinity or place a round a clock policemen at mosque and churches to stop these arson menace.

With the involvement of the police and with the sight of police personnel will deter any further attacks of these religious institutions.

The time has come for the Malaysian Police Force to show their worth to the public since the public has alot of misgivings about the police force due to many recent controversial issues.

Will the Police take this 'golden' opportunity to show their worth?

Anak kecil main api
Terbakar jarinya sendiri....

The Altantuya Shaaribuu's case: how and why she was killed
Published in the Liberation French newspaper on 5th March 2009

This is the English translation of the Liberation French article:

Shaaribuu Setev is a bitter and disappointed man. Yet, behind the saddened face of this Mongolian lies a fierce determination. Seated in a sofa in the lobby of an Ulaan Baataar hotel rattled by gushes of a freezing wind, this sixty years old man is ready to fight. His face features, hardened by the suffering and the stern climate, and his intense gaze tell all. "My daughter has been murdered by Malaysians on Malaysian territory. And they did not have even offer a word of apology," states this professor of psychology at the National University of Mongolia.

The assassination of his daughter, Altantuya Shaaribuu, took place in October 2006. This was a murder unlike others in a region where business conflicts or petty politics are often settled with a gun. Everything in this case, which started in 2002 when the French Spanish company Armaris concluded the sale of three submarines to the Malaysian government for the amount of one billion Euros, is out of the ordinary.

The impact of the "Altantuya case" in France, Malaysia and Mongolia has yet to reach its climax. The murder of the 28 year old Mongolian was the result of a "commission" at the price of 114 million Euros by Armaris to its Malaysian counterpart. This "commission," which was acknowledged by the Malaysian government in front of the Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, has triggered a chain of events that has led to the assassination of Altantuya and the disappearance of several key witnesses in the case.

A report from the Malaysian police, written on 19th november 2006 and which has been kept secret until now (can be read below), reveals dry and precise descriptions as to how this young woman, a member of Asian high society, has been killed. In this document, one of the killers, a policeman of the Malaysian Special Branch named Sirul Omar, replied to the questions of an officer at a police station close to the murder scene. "When the Chinese woman saw that I was taking a gun, she begged me to spare her, saying she was pregnant. Azilah (the commanding officer of Sirul) grabbed her and [threw] her on the ground. I immediately shot the left side of her face. Then Azilah took off her clothes and put them in a black plastic bag. Azilah noticed that her hand was still moving. He ordered me to shoot again, which I did", said Sirul. This is the first confirmation of Altantuya's assassins' identity. "Then we carried her body into the woods. Azilah wrapped the explosives around her legs, her abdomen and her head, and we exploded her."

Why isn't the ACA or anyone else checking into the accounts where this huge sum was paid into and trace the trail of that money.
