AM coverMuch heated debate – including the memorable exchanges between Nazri and Mahathir - surrounded the Biro Tata Negara controversy. If Umno is not racist, why does it maintain an indoctrination agency like the BTN, wonders Stephen Tan Ban Cheng, in our cover story.

While all this was going on, Najib and his team continued to promote the 1Malaysia theme. CY peers into the past to deconstruct the 1Malaysia myth - is there space for honest debate and more open democracy, he wonders.

Well, it was a busy beginning of the year, a year that marked my 55th years, a year that I had been waiting for, the day in about eight more months will finally be mine with blessing from Him. Praise the Lord for guiding me being the head of my family thus far and pray that there will be many more to come.

Thank your very much indeed to all regular and new visitors to Aki Momogun.

PART 1MALAYSIAsomehow for reasons best known to him,Najib choose to ignore them.

The credibility and integrity of france is at stake as the world's eyes searches for truth and untruths.the French have better integrity than the British because Tony Blair stopped an investigation of bribery paid by BAE to a Saudi prince over the sale of British fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia.NAJIB should have responded positively when the rakyat demanded that an investigation be conducted on HIM, If that took place, things would not have gone thus far. But , somehow for reasons best known to him,Najib choose to ignore them. .

Or is this an indication that they have not gotten instruction from above to accept the case… Thus giving lame excuses to brush off the issue. Come on la… This excuse is tooooo lame… At least come out with a resonable one la… Like… "The Mongollian lady had not confirmed that what B.Subramaniam says is correct. So it must be a lie" or something of the sort la…So next time, we have any information on some corruption case, MACC will not investigate or interrogate us without us sending them any formal invitation

December 4, 2009

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak finally broke his silence regarding the allegations that his younger brother Mohamed Nazim had coerced private investigator P Balasubramaniam to hush up. NONEHowever, he dismissed the allegations as baseless.

Its just too damned obvious that PI Bala,

being an experienced investigator, knew what was going on. With the DPM Najib desperately making sms messages to Razak Magainda and with hook and crook, got Razak aquitted from the murder trial, it is just that Najib all along had planned for Razak to be his fall-guy and to be paid handsomely

Who is shamed by this crisis?
Our racist Crime Pime Minister, Najib C4 will run to the nearest mosque again and swear to the Koran that he's innocent and that's the end of the French queries about the submarines !

As for Altantuya's case, he's going to say that two policemen have been found guilty and sentenced ………………….. even without any motive for the said crime Najib is going to put Malaysia at risk, and our national security could be compromised anytime. Not to say anything bad about France, but as long as Najib's hands are not clean, France, and for that matter, any country which has the slightest evidence of his wrongdoing can hold Malaysia at ransom. I am not saying they will, but the may, and that's the risk. Naib in order to hold on to power, will do whatever he can to please the enemy. If a lay person like me can smell the danger, I wonder if all the cabinet ministers are still slumbering! If Najib does not go, Malaysia will be gone, soon!

Nothing changed

I thought enough was said that I've laid low for a while. Months in and out, and we see the same decrepit manure falling sideways of BN bandwagon, and recalcitrant forces within Pakatan Rakyat.

All an ordinary Malaysian want is to have a federal government and civil service consisting of substantial amounts of conscientious and competent people who raise Malaysia's profile in the world, fix problems comprehensively, have stable policies, and hold to account those who are corrupt and those who incite hatred. Why? So that the ordinary Malaysian can make a living in peace and concentrate on what matters in life - family and recreation after a hard week's toil, with hope and confidence of what the future holds.

This Allah issue for instance. Surely it is understood that the Christian way is to convert as many as possible to Christianity. It's a mission spelt out in the Bible. So if you think you are a Muslim majority country and you have valid concerns about the confusion that will be caused, you are right to want to do something about the issue. But there are finer tools to do so and to achieve a win win situation. Banning is a nuclear bomb. Why not try smart bomb, like making it a condition to define the word "Allah" to mean "Biblical God" somewhere prominent in the text. Soon enough, those folks reading in Malay will have no difficulty distinguishing between the Quranic Allah and the Biblical God.

Those recalcitrants who want to quit a party - I say be my guest. Pakatan isn't winning federal government anytime soon - might as well feret out those losers and make sure they are not nominated ever again for election.

By the way, has anything changed on the side of Barisan within these few short months? Well yeah sure, Anwar's appeal on Sodomy II has been thrown out (not unexpectedly), Dr Porntip has a police report lodged against her (bravo MACC, I hope someone will be jailed for criminal contempt), the ex MACC head turned around from "Teoh is just a small matter" (well yeah, now his family knows what kind of man their father/husband truly is) to "Teoh was his biggest challenge". And mind you his choice of word is lacking remorse of any degree. Challenge? You call death of a WITNESS a challenge and not a, say, what would be a more appropriate word - REGRET?? And where's 1Malaysia getting us? I saw a billboard in Ipoh near the Padang Demokrasi with our PM sticking his pointing finger purporting to show 1. A friend said it would have been more apt if he was showing his middle finger to the public. The continued impunity of abuse of power and raiding the Treasury is unacceptable. And now that we're almost bankcrupt, you impose all these additional taxes. Credit card tax - kapuii! Real property gains tax to increase revenue - double kapuii (why, because the govt created an artificial crisis, resolves it and expects people to thank them for it)!! GST won't be a burden - triple kapuii!!! And he went to Singapore and instead of telling Malaysians in Singapore concrete plans about raising per capita income and attracting them back, he told them to show patriotism to come back to Malaysia. Patriotic to whom? Malaysia or BN hooligans? Come back and pay tax for whose use? Malaysians at large, or BN hooligans?

And where's our open tender?

Where's AG's letter to Karpal to institute criminal proceedings against Lingam?

Why hasn't MACC questioned PI Bala?

Why aren't FDI coming in yet?

Where's the new law on children's religious conversion?

After a month of alarm at the rate of emigration, where's the change in policy?

Why isn't the federal government living up to its contractual obligation with the now defunct Communist Party of Malaya?

Lots and lots of rhetoric as usual - you see the lights flashing, the bells ringing and the barricade is down - but you'll never see the train coming.

About the only good news are there are that at least one or two prominent persons who, having escaped judgement on earth, have presumably met their judgement afterlife.

We're at cross-roads. The path to the left leads to peace and prosperity, but is blocked by fortified barricades calling themselves BN warlords/cronies. The other path right leads to destruction and destitution, and is downhill, without brakes. It's the path of the status quo. Many buses have no choice but to travel this route. At the front, called the "TOP BN/CRONY 1BUS" is the only bus with parachutes. At the end of this route, lies chasm to hell. The 1bus plans to reach the end and extends its parachutes and land elsewhere. The rest, without parachutes, will plunge.

We don't care if all hell breaks lose at Pakatan end. All Malaysians want is to get off the express route to hell. We don't care if we have to crash through fortified barricades and damage our buses in the process.

I'm where I've been - the only solution is a political one. Please please Borneo folks, wake up and see BN for what they really are. The world is bigger and better than what BN can offer you.

Release the Christian Bibles

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 08:13 AM PST

YB DOMINQUE NG to government
8th Dec., 2010.

The High Court ruled that the Catholic church had a constitutional right to publish the word "Allah" in the Bahasa Malaysia edition of its Herald newspaper.

Following a court decision on 31st December 2009 to allow use of the word Allah by the Catholic newsletter, Herald, YB Dominique Ng, the ADUN for Padungan, has called on government to respect the ruling. "The Government should now act accordingly to demonstrate its recognition and respect for a tolerant multicultural Malaysia. "

He refers to the reported confiscation in Kuching on September 15th 2009 by Government of 15,000 imported copies of Bibles bearing the word ALLAH . He asks the government to explain why it may not now release all of them to the churches and individuals concerned.

The Leader of Opposition, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had also quoted an influential world Islamic cleric, Sheihk Dr.Yusof Al Qaradawi, as saying that there is no problem with Christians referring to God as Allah.
Tok Guru Nik Aziz, the PAS Menteri Besar of Kelantan had before the court ruling said that he did not oppose the Catholic Herald using the word ALLAH.

YB Ng praised PAS, the Islamist partner in Pakatan Rakyat, in promptly deciding to back the use of the word Allah by Catholics. The party has just issued a statement saying that "it is consistent with the federal Constitution and Islamic principles"and that "based on Islamic principles, the use of the word Allah by the people of the Abrahamic faiths such as Christianity and Judaism, is acceptable" .

"PAS strongly objects to any aggressive and provocative approach that can lead to tension in society," it is quoted.

Ng said, "that leading Muslim clerics and so many Malaysian Muslims are so religiously principled in their stand in sharing the use of the term ALLAH, is indeed a defining moment in Malaysian communal relations. It is indeed heart-warming. This is a most positive national unity development which the Barisan National would be well advised to embrace rather than resist through another court challenge and thus seeming to encourage other acts stoking social tension."

" This is indeed a litmus test of 1Malaysia. The Prime Minister should let Malaysians be ONE in the belief of God and Allah, a ONENESS which will be promoted using a shared term ALLAH, blessed be His Name ! "

"With the policy statement by PAS, the ball is now in the court of UMNO and Barisan National, to show it can measure closer to the religious understanding and tolerance shown by PAS and Pakatan Rakyat. It is the duty of all political parties to show leadership at this moment in a matter of national harmony, and not just for Pakatan Rakyat parties."

Ng also referred to a few other previous instances of confiscation of Christian religious articles by government, both in KL and in Kuching, on the grounds that they contain the word ALLAH. A Sarawak Melanau Christian had gone to the court in KL to try claim back his confiscated Christian DVDs.

" Sarawak Government should act positively and reassure all Sarawak Christian of their rights under the Malaysia Constitution and the Spirit of the Malaysia Agreement," says Ng. Ng noted that over 40% of the people of Sarawak are Christians. "Sarawak Government owes it to Christians to immediately help expedite the release of confiscated religious articles to them as the first step," says Ng.

Taking God's Name In Vain

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 07:50 AM PST

This morning when I was listening to the news on the radio, it was implied that PAS was very much against this issue of Catholics using the word "Allah" to refer to God.

Upon reading Harakah, I have discovered (and straight from the horse's mouth) that this isn't the case at all.

PAS has no issue with Malay-speaking Christians using the word "Allah".

Umno raih simpati rakyat isu 'Allah'
Muhammad Yusri Amin

In fact, the article goes on to explain that UMNO is milking this issue for their own political benefit.

They need the support of Malays badly and they will stoop to anything to get it.

So, if any of you got that false impression, as I did - now you know.

“Bidayuhs Rejoices on News”

My brother in law received an sms," We have a State Minister in Michael Manyin,Assistant Minister In Peter Nansian and now we have a Deputy Federal Minister in James Dawos. What else can our race ask for? The Bidayuhs up and down the country must be rejoicing and we thank God for a Belated Christmas Present. The groundswell of dissatisfaction on being left out and overlooked in positions and postings has paid dividends. Sometimes it does pay to make a little noise here and there and our Bidayuh leaders must be commended.

The full report from an internet portal Malaysiakini Mambong member of parliament Dr James Dawos Mamit has been named by the prime minister as the new deputy tourism minister to replace Sulaiman Abdul Taib who resigned recently.

James Dawos MamitMamit, 61, will be sworn in as the deputy minister on Jan 13, said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

Mamit, a Bidayuh, is a supreme council member of the Sarawak-based Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

Yesterday Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud said that the vacant post must be filled by someone from his party, PBB, adding that he had submitted a name to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak

Sulaiman, 41, who is also PBB Youth vice-chief, was appointed deputy tourism minister on March 19, 2008, when Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was the prime minister and retained the post when Najib took over as prime minister in April last year.

However, he resigned recently for health reasons.

There have been speculations that Abdul Taib is planning to contest his son at the next Sarawak state election, due by 2011, and begin grooming him as a possible successor.

There were also rumours that Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who was overlooked by Najib when he named his cabinet eight months ago, be picked as a minister in a minor reshuffle hastened by Sulaiman's resignation."

"It is indeed a Joyous and Memorable day for all Bidayuhs around the country" Our congratulations from audie61 to the New Deputy Tourism Minister . Make us proud…

PAS double-vision in Allah issue

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 03:59 AM PST

This is PAS, the only Islamic party in Malaysia. Claiming to be a perfect political sect, the party says it is okay for non-Muslims to use the word ALLAH. Each time their leaders answer questions from non-Bahasa newspapers, they will say such. Yes, that's what they told The Star, New Straits Times and others - that non-Muslims can freely use the ALLAH 'kalimah' or phrase. Fine!

Cantik!

This is what PAS is all about. It gets more absurd. Its leaders are willing to do anything to safeguard their political interest.

While wanting to woo support from the Chinese, Indians and others, PAS is going ashtray. What happens, every Malaysian knows.

Its pact with DAP and Parti Keadilan in Pakatan Rakyat is turning its leaders into liars. They like it, indeed. Its the kind of game Anwar Ibrahim introduced some years ago - just do anything as long as your politics are on strong footing, even though you have to cheat your own Creator!

Since the Allah issue erupted last week, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim didnt comment anything. He was comfortable in leaving it to Nik Aziz and his information chief doing the talking. So, they simply made statements to any member of the Media. Nobody is blaming Anwar should Pas makes contradictory statements.

How about DAP? Almost no statement too.

So, Pakatan Rakyat is leaving it to PAS to answer all questions pertaining to ALLAH. Nik Aziz, who once said ALLAH is only for Muslims, now is having double-vision to keep PR intact. (Double Vision is also the song by Foreigners.... ever listened to it?)

Why not we request PAS leaders to sing it...

INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT FOR ANWAR IBRAHIM The events which are unfolding in Malaysia are nothing short of Kafkaesque in nature.

In Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, the chief protagonist, a salesman by the name of Gregor woke up one day only to find out that he had transformed into a giant insect. Lying down, he could see his many legs moving about in the air above him. Strangely, rather than wallowing in self pity and descending into a state of utter depression, Gregor's first reaction was "how am I going to get to work?"
readmore musa hassan,Ghani Patail who are you to decide what is correct in law for we malaysians when you protect the murders the pimps

He then thought "what would happen to my family, as I am the only one who worked to bring in the money?" While Gregor was thinking of the family, the latter was however far from being sympathetic to Gregor's plight. They were filled with repulsion and they regarded Gregor's position as a burden on them.

The rest of the story tells us how the familial relationship between Gregor and the members of his family slowly deteriorated due to his condition.

In my frequent Kafkaesque moments nowadays, I have this vision of me having a bowl of soup in one of those fancy restaurants in KL Hilton. Suddenly everything became big. My body grew up so big. The table, the chair and of course the bowl of soup, the spoon and whatever else.

I continued scooping the thick creamed mushroom soup with the spoon. Suddenly the spoon touched on something hard, buried somewhere under the thick mushroom soup. My curiosity took over. I scooped and scooped and scooped. And OMG…

Everybody around me stopped doing whatever they were doing before I screamed. They rushed to my table. The waiters and waitresses too. The manager hurriedly hovered around my table. And there, right in front of me and everybody else, bedded in my soup bowl, with thick creamed mushroom soup dripping from its impellers, and some black peppers sticking to its aluminum body, was one whole jet engine!

I think Kafka would have been proud of me.

On a more serious note, I have a report from a friend of mine in Johore. This guy is an engineer. So, I presume he knows his stuffs. But then again, he is a Liverpool supporter. So, I stand corrected on my last statement about more IGP Musa Hassan and AG Gani Patail Witness what happened to former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim by Police Chief. CHARGE THEM for not reporting

Anyway, he text me the other day. He said he knows exactly where the jet engine is. According to his inside information, Rafa Benitez bought the engine last summer thinking that it was a midfield engine. The engine is now in Anfield awaiting fitness. LOL!! Living La Vida Jet Engine readmore It is imperative that the Attorney General's wide powers be subject to close scrutiny and not be permitted to be exercised arbitrarily.

Okay, sorry, that wasn't serious. That was a joke. I have to make that clear lest some of you dear readers might be confused. Maklumlah kita orang-orang Malaysia ni, terutamanya orang-orang Islam Malaysia, senang sangat jadi "confuse". So, let me make it clear, that was a joke, okay. The jet engine was not bought by Rafa Benitez. No. That was a joke.

The really serious thing is this. The Attorney General had yesterday announced that 2 guys will be charged in Court today for stealing the engines. The 2 guys are apparently an Air Force Sergeant and a company director. Good job, mate.

Why are you all laughing? That was not a joke. That is true. Really. No, it was not a joke, I can assure you. Oh God, why are you laughing? Confused? Oh well…

When the news about the theft of the decade was first leaked to the public some weeks ago, I remember Minister Zahid Hamidi appearing in national news, with sweat of patriotism and national pride bristling over his forehead, totally angry and absolutely incensed, promising to charge everyone who was responsible for what he termed as an act of treason.

The Star newspaper reported as follows:

"Describing the thieves as traitors to the nation, Dr Ahmad Zahid vowed that those found guilty would have to pay a heavy price for the crime.

"The ministry has already conducted a domestic inquiry into the missing engine and its findings will be disclosed to the public via court proceedings," he told reporters after receiving a courtesy call from Maldives' Defence Minister Ameen Faisel at the ministry office here Tuesday.

He added that those who were involved in the theft have been identified through the inquiry and that they would not escape the law.

"The matter has been handed over completely to the police and the Attorney-General has released a statement that the investigations would be complemented with legal proceedings," Dr Ahmad Zahid added."

The Prime Minister, who was the Defence Minister when the engines were stolen right in front of our nose, chipped in and said:

"The ministry has no intention to cover up at all," he said after chairing the Malaysian Aerospace Council meeting in Putrajaya.

"In fact we went forward to the police. At that time I was the minister in charge. I decided we should report it to the police," he said.

He added that the ministry will wait for the relevant authorities to wrap up their investigations before any action is taken against the wrongdoers.
"It depends on what the personnel had done wrong, It is up to the air force and armed force's council to decide on that," he said.

(Malaysiakini report)
Most notably, Minister Zahid, in the same Star report said:

"Action will be taken against high-ranking officers overseeing the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) fighter jet at the time when its RM50mil engines were stolen, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi."

Then there were talks that a Brigadier General and some 40 army personnel have been told to leave because of the debacle. On this, Minister Zahid was quoted as saying,

"Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the engines were discovered missing from the Sungai Besi RMAF airbase during routine maintenance service. Also missing were its maintenance and service records.

He said a brigadier-general and 40 other armed forces personnel had been sacked over the incident."

(as reported by Charles Lourdes in a report appearing here).

But later, the MoD denied that the Brigadier General's resignation had anything to do with the thefts. So, what is what? Who resigned for what? We asked. Malaysians, at this point of time, had a grave and present feeling that nobody seemed to know what they are talking about.

I also remember that Minister Zahid said outside agents were also involved and that ation at the "international level" will be taken. The Malaysian Insider reported:

"The Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) F-5E fighter jet engine missing since 2007 was sold to an international company based in South America, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the company was believed to have hired an agent to bring the RM50 million engine out of the country.

"The ministry will take legal action at the international level to charge the company involved."

Regardless, we are assured that the national defence has not been compromised.

Later, the one jet engine became two jet engines. Than apparently, they were shipped to Argentina. Some said it was Iran. The IGP confidently announced that,

"The stolen engines have been taken to Argentina," the police chief said. "We have to check if the engines are still in that country."

Musa told the Star newspaper that several top Royal Malaysian Air Force officers, including generals, are expected to be questioned in connection with the theft."

He was also reported as saying:

"We need to question all of them as it is not easy to just cart away the engines without authorization and proper documents."

Yes, it surely wasn't easy to just cart away jet engines from an air base, which presumably, is a heavily guarded area, unless of course, everybody had transformed themselves into big insects with multiple legs which sleep all the time.

The Attorney General then confirmed that it was not an easy job. He was reported by the Star as saying,

"Gani said the case was complicated as it involved various agencies including transportation and courier, ministries, security network and the company entrusted with overhauling the engines."

And now, events have taken the Kafka route. Apparently, only a Sergeant and a company director were involved. They are going to be charged todar for stealing the engines, reported the Malaysian Insider.

And so, it appears that it wasn't that difficult to breach our national defence system after all. Let's see. Any Sergeant would be able to authorise the removal of two jet engines from the jet. He then would personally remove the jet engines from the jet. Then he would drive a fork lift and lifted the engines onto a truck or whatever.

Then he would drive the truck out of the base. He would show all the documentation for the transportation of the engines out of that base, which he had obviously forged.

Then he drove to the port. In the meantime, he would have prepared and forged all shipping documents and arranged the freight. He then cleared the customs. He also arranged the sale and purchase transaction.

This SPM/STPM qualified Sergeant apparently had the all the connections with international illegal arm dealers and underground arm smugglers allowing him to arrange the sale. All the while, he also managed to communicate with those people undetected. His calls were never intercepted by our army intelligent nor the police. Our police, who had successfully traced RPK from a worm hole in Great Britain did not manage to trace all these things. No Sir, no.

After various correspondence and due diligence, the sale was concluded. He then shipped the engines. Oh wait, they were shipped to Argentina but the ship stopped at Uruguay along the way. May be the Captain of the ship had to pee in Uruguayan port. Now, apparently, the engines are in Uruguay. The Attorney General is now reported to have said,

"Police managed to trace the containers carrying the engines to Argentina where it was off-loaded onto another vessel and shipped to Uruguay."

(The Star report)

The sale was completed. Engines delivered. Money paid to the Sergeant's account. He managed to get the Bank Negara clearance. Yes. The Sergeant knows how to do that too. Oh wait, did he used the money changer?

So, folks, that's the story for now.

Over the past few weeks I have been seeing that Astro b-yond advert on Astro. You know, that advert with the submarine surfacing in a housing estate in front of a little girl on a tricycle with a pacifier in her mouth.

Beautiful Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu was Shot in the Head Twice and Then She was blown to pieces with C4 Explosive in a Gruesome Murder in
Malaysia Allegedly by Top Level Officials and Political Elites.

Malaysia's Ruling Party is on the Ropes and Things are Getting Ugly Real Fast: An influential Malaysian blogger alleges that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's wife was present when a Mongolian translator/model was murdered in 2006. Can somebody say 'cover-up'?

I am sure when suspensions get serious they will find a "fall person" usually some local idiot and have that person convicted and executed real fast if this is a crime by the Political Elites. And people will forget about it real soon, thats the way cover ups usually work.

C4 Murder: Malaysian Police will be calling up Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin to investigate allegations in his recent statutory declaration on purported facts related to the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said the three individuals named in the document filed on June 18 would also be called up.

In an explosive statutory declaration to a Malaysian court, one of Malaysia's most prominent web journalists has alleged that the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak as well as a Malaysian Army officer and the officer's wife were directly involved in the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu on October 19, 2006, and that people at the very top of the Malaysian government are aware of the fact. Raja Petra Kamaruddin states:

"Altantuya's body is alleged to have been blown up with C4 explosives at a secondary forest in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam. The murder trial is currently ongoing at the Shah Alam High Court.

"My informer states that Aziz was the person who placed the C4 on various parts of Altantuya's body witnessed by Rosmah and Norhayati," Raja Petra claimed in the document.

"I make this statutory declaration because I have been reliably informed about the involvement of these three people who have thus far not been implicated in the murder nor called as witnesses by the prosecution in the ongoing trial at the Shah Alam High Court.

"I also make this statutory declaration because I am aware that it is a crime not to reveal evidence that may help the police in its investigation of the crime," read the document, which was first posted on the bigdogdotcom blog run by another blogger."

He further alleged that he has also been 'reliably informed' that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi knows of Najib's wife alleged involvement.

Najib and Rosmah have repeatedly denied they are linked to the killing of Altantuya, describing the widely-known allegations was nothing more than 'slander and concocted stories'.

The declaration, by Raja Petra Kamaruddin, a well-connected journalist who edits the web publication Malaysia Today and is on trial for sedition charges stemming from a commentary on the case. There is no independent confirmation of Raja Petra's allegations, and the declaration was ignored by Malaysia's government-linked mainstream media and one Kuala Lumpur-based lawyer with connections to top United Malays National Organisation figures expressed doubt about it.

In the declaration, Raja Petra claimed that the trio – one of them a prominent woman – were present at the scene during the murder of the Mongolian translator in October 2006.

Copies of the two-paged declaration together with the identity of the trio have been posted on various blog sites.

In the document, Raja Petra said he was "reliably informed" of these allegations. An aide to Najib also said they were aware of this latest claim made by Raja Petra. The aide however refused to comment if any action could be taken against Raja Petra.

Musa said the matter could be sub judice as the Altantuya murder case was still being heard.

He also said Raja Petra must be "brave enough to face the consequences if he is bold enough" to make the allegations.

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General's Chambers has lodged a police report against Raja Petra over the statutory declaration.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said the allegations were "highly defamatory" and if found untrue, those making the allegations would have to face the consequences.

"We want to investigate because we want the truth. As far as I am concerned, we have to look at it seriously."

"If it's true, we will act accordingly. If not, the writer will be investigated," he said, adding that the report was lodged in Putrajaya on Saturday.

Raja Petra said he expected to be called up.

He said he was bold enough to face the consequences. This is not the first time he is alleging that Najib was involved in Altantuya's murder, but he has failed to produce any solid proofs besides empty talks so far.

The story adds considerable chaos to the country's political mix. The Barisan Nasional, the national ruling coalition, is reeling from the loss of its two-thirds majority in March elections. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, taking the brunt of criticism over the loss, has already promised to step down at some future date to cede the premiership to Najib. District elections are due in July in the United Malays National Organisation and there are suspicions that the verdict in the Altantuya murder trial is being delayed until the elections are completed.

Raja Petra wrote that Najib's wife, Rosmah Mansor, and Acting Colonel Aziz Buyong and his wife, Norhayati, Rosmah's aide-de-camp, were present at the scene of the murder and that Aziz Buyong was the individual who placed C4 plastic explosive on Altantuya's body and blew it up. Both Najib and his wife have repeatedly denied any involvement in the case although Kuala Lumpur has been buzzing for months with rumors of their complicity.

Shaariibuu was executed by two shots to the head and her body was blown up with military explosives in a patch of jungle near the suburban city of Shah Alam. One of Najib's closest friends, Abdul Razak Baginda, once the influential head of a political think-tank, and two of Najib's bodyguards, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar of the elite Unit Tindak Khas or Special Police Action Unit, are the subjects of a marathon murder trial that got underway more than a year ago.

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has ordered the police to conduct a thorough probe into the murder of a beautiful Mongolian freelance model.

The Prime Minister said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan informed him about the murder of 28-year-old Altantuya Shaariibuu.

"I told the IGP he had to investigate the case thoroughly and properly.

"Nobody is above the law. That should be remembered," he said when asked to comment on the high-profile murder that took place about two weeks ago.

The police have detained a 46-year-old prominent political analyst who heads a local think-tank and remanded him for five days from yesterday to facilitate investigation.

On the involvement of police personnel in the murder, Abdullah, who is also Internal Security Minister, said action must be taken against anybody found guilty under the law.

Three police personnel — a chief inspector, a lance corporal and a constable — have also been remanded to assist investigation into the gruesome killing of Altantuya, who was shot before her body was blown up to bits in a secondary jungle in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam.

The woman arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 9 with her sister and a cousin in search of the political analyst whom she claimed fathered her 16-month-old son.

Altantuya's case came to light after her sister lodged a police report following her disappearance on Oct 21. Police identified the political analyst, who is said to have befriended the deceased a few years ago, as a suspect.

Earlier, Abdullah launched the Royal Professor Ungku Aziz Chair and the Centre for Poverty and Development Studies at Universiti Malaya.

Neither Najib nor his chief of staff, Musa Safri, has been questioned nor summoned to testify despite the fact that Baginda, in a sworn statement in November 2006, said he had contacted Musa for help in dealing with Altantuya, his jilted lover who was demanding money. That statement raised suspicions that all sides in the court – prosecution, defense and judiciary – are struggling to keep the case under wraps. The trial has been subject to numerous delays for reasons that are unclear.

Raja Petra himself is due to go on trial in October on sedition charges that were filed against him for writing an article titled "Let's Send Altantuya's Murderers to Hell." In that piece, he accused Najib, his wife and others of complicity in the murder. He amplified the statement considerably in his statutory declaration, made last Wednesday, in which he also said that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had seen a full report by military intelligence on the involvement of the deputy premier's family. Badawi gave the intelligence report to his son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, for safekeeping, according to Raja Petra's statement.

Raja Petra, a member of the Selangor royal family, also wrote that one of the country's sultans had been given a full report on the matter. He didn't identify the sultan, but if his statements are true it means that at least one member of royalty may be able to back up his declaration, which was not made under oath.

From the time Altantuya's body was discovered, the case has raised dark questions about the possible involvement of top government figures. Others also believe that the 28-year-old mother of two may have been involved in a much bigger controversy than a jilted relationship. She made several trips to Kuala Lumpur to attempt to confront Baginda, at one point standing in front of his house and screaming "Razak, bastard, come out!" The last time she was seen alive was again in front of his house, when she was bundled into a car and taken away.

She had accompanied Baginda to France when he was involved in negotiating the purchase of two Scorpene submarines and a used Agosta submarine produced by the French government through a French-Spanish joint venture, Armaris, for the Malaysian defense ministry, which was headed by Najib as minister. The submarines were bought through a Kuala Lumpur-based company, Perimekar Sdn Bhd, which at the time was owned by yet another company, Ombak Laut, which was wholly owned by Abdul Razak Baginda.

The €1 billion (RM4.5 billion) contract to buy the submarines was non-competitive and netted Perimekar €114 million. Although Najib has sworn an oath to Allah that he had never met the woman, he was in France at the same time as Najib, one of his best friends, was there, dealing with matters over the submarine. A cousin of Altantuya's testified at the trial that she had seen a picture of Najib together with the dead woman, but she was quickly hushed up by both defense and prosecution lawyers about the matter and the picture has not been produced.

Altantuya admitted in a letter discovered after her death that she had been blackmailing Abdul Razak, presumably to keep his family from finding out about their relationship. But in his statement to the police, Baginda said he had already informed his family of the relationship; he said she was pressuring him for US$500,000. Her father, Setev Shaariibuu, a psychology professor in Ulan Bataar, has said she was killed because she "knew too much," although he has never elaborated on that statement.

Given the close relationship between the two men, and that Najib was reported as presenting jackets made available by Perimekar to the submarine crews training in France, and that Altantuya was traveling with Baginda, it is difficult to understand why the court has not pursued the issue of whether they met.

It is also difficult to understand, given published reports, plus the fact that the accused Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar were members of Najib's own bodyguard unit, that neither Najib nor Musa has been questioned about how the bodyguards came to be accused of Altantuya's murder.

There have been many other discrepancies as well. Prosecutorial setbacks over the course of the trial have endangered the case. Sirul's purported confession has been thrown out. The prosecution has attempted to impeach one of the prosecution's star witnesses, Rohaniza Roslan, a 28-year-old policewoman and Azilah's girlfriend. Rohaniza said she had seen the victim bundled into a red Proton car and taken away. Later, in court, she said she had been "tortured and coaxed" by police interrogators into signing that statement; she then offered the court a version of events that differed considerably from her initial account.

"The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor cannot remain silent on the latest bombshell," wrote Lim Kit Siang, leader of the opposition Democratic Action Party. "The credibility and legitimacy of the Abdullah premiership and government will suffer a mortal blow if Abdullah, Najib and Rosmah remain silent on Raja Petra's bombshell allegations."

Raja Petra Kamarudin has made a serious statutory declaration on June 18 alleging that Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Najib's wife, was at the murder scene of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu in 2006. Whether the allegation is truth or not is not known… in fact only very few people would know at the moment. RPK has shown his courage over the years, some say he is abusing his influence to bully the politicians.

Altantuya was last seen on Oct 19, 2006 as she was being bundled into a car outside Abdul Razak's home.

ANWAR TO NAJIB: "Nothing personal!"

(Courtesy of MalaysiakiniTV 29 June 2007)

Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has been asked to explain the claim made in a court testimonial today that he had been photographed with murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu. PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said it was all the more compelling for the deputy premier to explain since he had previously denied having met her.

Shaariibuugiin Altantuyaa (Mongolian language: Шаарийбуугийн Алтантуяа; sometimes also Altantuya Shaariibuu; 1978 – 2006), a Mongolian national, was a murder victim who was either murdered by C-4 explosives or was somehow killed first and her remains destroyed with C-4 in October 2006 in a deserted area in Shah Alam, Malaysia near Kuala Lumpur.

Altantuyaa was born in 1978. Her parents raised her and her sister while they worked in Russia where Altantuyaa started first grade elementary school. She was reportedly fluent in Mongolian, Russian, Chinese and English.

Altantuyaa moved back to Mongolia in 1990 and a few years later, married a Mongolian techno singer, Maadai. They had a child in 1996 but the marriage ended in divorce and the child went to live with Altantuyaa's parents.

Despite training as a teacher, Altantuyaa briefly moved to France where she attended modeling school before returning to Mongolia. She only modeled part-time, for a brief time also opening a tour business in Mongolia.

Altantuyaa remarried and had another child in 2003 but the second marriage also ended in divorce (this is questionable). The second child also lives with Altantuyaa's parents. Her mother said she never been a model.

She moved to Hong Kong in 2005, it was around this time she met Abdul Razak Baginda, a defense analyst from the Malaysian Strategic Research Centre think-tank, reportedly beginning a relationship with him. Initial reports of Altantuya having a child with Abdul Razak have been proven to be untrue .

Some sources allege that Altantuya came to Kuala Lumpur with a cousin in early October 2006 intending to confront Abdul Razak. When she went missing on Oct 19, her cousin lodged a police report and sought help from the Mongolian embassy in Bangkok.

Malaysian police found fragments of bone, later verified as hers, in forested land near the Subang Dam in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam. Police investigation of her remains revealed that she was shot twice before C-4 explosives were used on her remains, although there has been later suggestion that the C-4 explosives may have killed her. When her remains were found their identity could only be confirmed with DNA testing. The provenance of the C-4 remains unclear.

Abdul Razak and three members of the police force were arrested during the murder investigation . The two murder suspects have been named as Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 30 and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 35. They had been members of the elite Unit Tindakan Khas (the Malaysian Police Special Action Force or counter-terrorism unit) and were both assigned to the office of the Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, who was also the Defence Minister at the time of the murder. Abdul Razak has been charged with abetment in the murder.

Altantuya's brutal murder received wide, detailed coverage in Malaysia, Mongolia and other Asian countries.

The trial was originally going to be held in March 2007, but was postponed until the 4th of June 2007. Due to controversial and last-minute changes in the prosecution and defence teams, and the presiding judge, the trial was again postponed until 18 June 2007. The pre-trial preparations have seen both the prosecution and defence teams level accusations of evidential impropriety at one another.

During the trial there was an incident between Baginda's wife and the victim's father.

In a statutory declaration in his sedition trial in October 2008, Raja Petra accused Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor (the wife of Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak) of being one of three individuals who were present at the crime scene when Altantuya Shaariibuu was murdered on Oct 19, 2006. He wrote that wrote that Najib's wife, Rosmah Mansor, and Acting Colonel Aziz Buyong and his wife, Norhayati, Rosmah's aide-de-camp, were present at the scene of the murder and that Aziz Buyong was the individual who placed C4 plastic explosive on Altantuya's body and blew it up.

Zoo Negara ~ A photographer's heaven. Part 1.

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 05:00 AM PST

This is one handsome cute baby boy whom I met during my visit to Zoo Negara recently. His name is Luqman and he had quite a curiosity about my beard.

He made a move to grab my beard when I carried him! Hahahaha..

Children being who they are ~ free from sin are such a delight to be with.
I admit that I have a fondness to go carry any baby that I come across and love to see those bright shiny innocent eyes which tell me that there is still hope for mankind.

That not everyone out there is full of evil and mischief. I try to reassure myself that all those villains out there, all those naysayers and hatemongers were once babies themselves and were once innocent. Would I be able to recondition them back to the pure state that they were once in?

Wallahu 'alam.

Just like this cute baby hippopotamus trying to open up its cavernous mouth...

Here is its cousin doing a 180 degrees yawn! Imagine the harm that those sharp canines can do to a boat?

Big Daddy Hippo was watching his baby doing its thing with a wary eye.

Children have an uncanny ability to look straight at the camera lenses. See how these two are keeping an eye on me as I train my lenses at them?

Natural models, don't you agree?

They sure will remember their visit to the zoo. There are plenty of exotic animals being kept at the zoo and I will be sharing with you the many photos that I took of them during my visit.

Lots of cute trainees were there as well. Volunteers were also busy sweeping up the many enclosures at the zoo and doing their bit for our nation's national zoo.

Good for them and for the zoo as well.

When was your last trip to the zoo?

Click on to the photos to view them in a new window.

The best wayang kulit of the year award goes to ….. Missing Jet Engine
Everything that has to do with high level 'wheeling and dealing' has an Indian connection. How powerful they have become of late amuses me. Paul, Lingam, Nathan, Navindran, and now Tharmendran and Rajendran Prasad. Land of BolehMachans!

Najib's talk about making a police report and passing the files to the AG for action exposes a glaring point about his intentions to take action or inaction. The PDRM and AG can only act against civilians, local or foreign, who were involved in the theft. Uniformed officers in the service at the time are subject to Military Law, even if they have been cashiered since then.

It's an insult to the intelligence of all MalaysiansSalutations to 1Malaysia! always only small fries are caught and big sharks happily swimming away….worse still..we had an ex-Defence Minister (now the PM) who did not even bother to resign or at least say sorry to all Malaysians for this scandal – and this guy propagade KPIs, NKRA…No sense of accountability or shame among UMNO/BN leaders
Has anyone ever enter military bases?
The security is tight, very tight.
The sentry do check people entering and exiting military bases.
Smuggling the two jet fighter engines and other parts out of military base(s) is a herculean task.
It takes much logistical supports, such as trucks, tight scheduling, temporary storage locations; Human resource supports, such as truck drivers, movers, shippers; and plenty of advance planning.
And I haven't even begin to talk about normal procedures like inventory checks that can easily spotted the parts are gone.
Please don't tell us a sarge and a director can accomplish it all.
Malaysians, the joke of the year has just begun. Stealing jet engines worth RM100 million and the charges are for theft and disposing of stolen properties! Worth the crime indeed. A sergeant managed to cart away two jet engines, each weighing more than 200 kgs. Superhuman feat indeed! Are security just so lax at the air force base? Incredible is your story AG! I think the USA will give a better picture!Oh of course there is no cover up.
It's completely believable that three rank-and-file RMAF airmen can confound all the security and process checks of the entire RMAF and carry away 2 massive pieces of equipment worth RM 100 million.
CAN happen anywhere? The government's logic in this cover up is simple — reduce the number of people to be charged to the barest minimum, pay off the fall guys handsomely, keep them on a tight leash so that they won't sing and hopefully there won't be any 'leaks' published in Malaysia Today in the future. Semuanya OK and
the salam 1Malaysia bandwagon goes on.
Ghani Patial,
What a joke but as rakyat Malaysia , in my opinion more than 80% rakyats anticipated this outcome, total no surprise. If under such a high security area, two big engines being remove from the high protected and high security area, something is very wrong with the Malaysian Government, and the worse part, a RMAF Sergeant being charge, meaning that all the Generals and the Minister of Defence are hopeless, because such a small rank officer can do wonders in the RMAF Camp.
For all you rakyat you know, the Fighetr Jet plane body could have ended up in the scarp yard, either in the Mega Steels or ASM .
Stop all these nosense, Rakayts Malaysia are not stupid, by right Najib should not be the PM, as he can't even lead the RMAF, POLICE and ARMY, so much of question marks in his departments management.
I wonder how fragile our country's defence system is. And also how bad the standard operating procedures and security measures are. Such huge engines could even be quietly smuggled out from our country without being noticed by any high ranking officers, police or ministers. Even worst, these engines could be taken out from high security area without any prior approval from officers. Today we saw big objects such as plane engines being taken out easily. We are curious and wonder the high possibility of smaller objects such as riffles, bullets, and other weapons being 'taken out' from the base. The investigations disclosed by our AG is indeed very doubtful and suspectious.

Tharmendran is being led into court this morning where he was charged.

By Neville Spykerman

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 — Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Sgt N. Tharmendran and company director Rajandran Prasad were today charged in the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court today in connection with the missing two F-5E jet engines amid cynicism that the government has covered up the scandalous theft.

Rajandran, 37, was charged with disposing of the engines while Tharmendran, 42, was charged with stealing the engines. Bail for the two was set at RM150,000. The case has been fixed for mention on Feb 11.

Police had earlier said four men, three of them rank-and-file RMAF airmen, were the only ones involved in the 2007 theft of two General Electric J85-21A turbojet engines, said to be worth RM100 million, much to the chagrin of many that the scale of the crime suggests higher-ups were involved.

The RMAF had earlier denied that a brigadier-general and 40 others sacked for incompetence were involved in the crime.

According to the charge sheet, Tharmendran, who is still serving in the air force, had conspired with senior airman Mohamad Shukri Mohamad Yusop at the RMAF base Subang Jaya to steal the engines from the Material Procession Shed at RMAF Base in Sungai Besi on Dec 2007.

If found guilt he faces imprisonment of up to 10 years and fine. Mohamad Shukri was not charged.

Rajandran was charged with intentionally disposing of the engines which he knew were stolen on April 30, 2008 at the Subang Industrial Park. He faces a maximum of seven years imprisonment and fine.

The case was heard before Sessions Judge Aslam Zainuddin. Tharmendran was represented by lawyer V. Ravichandran while Pritam Singh Doal acted for Rajandran.

Deputy Prosecutor Raja Rozela Raja Raja Toran had asked the court to set bail at RM200,000 for both men because of the seriousness of the offence.

However Aslam set bail at RM150,000 after defence lawyers objected.

Pritam said his client would be able to post bail today but Ravichandran said he doubts Tharmendran would be able to raise the money.

Female family members of one of the two men were seen openly crying in court today while before the start of the case a female Sin Chew photographer was manhandled by male relatives of the two men as she tried to get their pictures.

The reporter was seen grimacing in pain but was otherwise unhurt.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said last night the RMAF airman would be charged for stealing while the company director for disposing of stolen properties.

"Investigations revealed that both F-5E jet engines were removed from the Material Udara 1 (Matra 1) godown in Kuala Lumpur as a result of a collaboration between an RMAF personnel with the rank of sergeant and a company director to dispose off both jet engines," he said in a statement issued via Bernama.

He said based on information from witnesses and documents obtained, he ordered the duo to be charged.

The sergeant will be charged under section 380 of the Penal Code to be read with section 109 of the same code, while the company director, under section 414 of the code.

The jets engines were found missing in 2007 while being taken for a routine maintenance from the 12th Squadron (Scorpion) in Butterworth to the RMAF godown in Kuala Lumpur.

The jet engines were discovered stolen by RMAF on May 22, 2008 and a police report was lodged on Aug 4 the same year.

But like the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal where four executives were charged for criminal breach of trust (CBT), prosecuting the airmen and company director will not abate calls for further investigations into how the jet engines ended up in South America.

Gani had said the engines powering the ageing F-5Es are now in Uruguay after police said it went through a Middle East nation to Argentina.

They have said that Malaysia will seek international cooperation to recover the engines.

But opposition leaders are asking for a royal commission of inquiry into the theft that happened when Datuk Seri Najib Razak was the defence minister.

Now prime minister, Najib has promised that there will be no cover-up but many are left pondering his words with just a serviceman and an aviation services firm director in the dock.

If this sargeant is really the 'main culprit', he is one bloody genius of a guy. Manage to evade the sentries, customs etc. I'm sure he is worth more than just a sargeant with his ingenuity. One after another blunder by this fed gov…a low ranking police charged for kugan's death, now this. This story is Hollywood/Bollywood proportion, any takers?Selling of the country's secrets or weapons should be regard as crime against national security. Enemies can bribed armed forces personnel to sabotage the country and weaken her defence system. Since all the armed forces units are under the royal umbrella so the charges should be more serious than just stealing of government properties. It should sound more like treason.

Isu Kalimah Allah: Beberapa Pengarajan Yang Saya Pelajari

Posted: 05 Jan 2010 09:01 PM PST

Our sugar is still very cheap

Posted: 05 Jan 2010 08:33 PM PST

So many complaints when the government hikes up the price of sugar by 20 sen. Ironically, those complaining are urban folks.

Let's not politicise on this commodity. In many countries where the price of sugar is still much higher than that of ours, they people do understand the reason although only a few countries in world provide subsidies for sugar, and Malaysia is one of it, having to spend about RM1 billion a year to keep its price at bay.

Why must we complaint? Each time when the price of fish or vegetable go up, we just love to complaint without even trying to consider the plight of our fishermen and vegetable farmers. If we can spend a few hundred bucks every nite at entertainment outlets, is there a basis to avoid 50 sen toll gates and 50 sen/hour parking fee?

Actually, we are the ones who practise a lot of double-standards, dont you agree? As being well-educated and living in big cities and towns, everything about the government and its agencies are considered absurd. Why? Because we will be imposed penalty tickets if we fail to obey the parking meters.

If we go by logic, is it still possible to maintain the price of a cup of coffee at 15 sen in the 70s today? Do we really understand what demand and supply is?

We have to be fair to the manufacturer and sugarcane planters as well. Just like the fishermen and farmers, we only expect them to provide us with our daily needs without even thinking about their fate at sea and high lands.

If our sugar price is high, our friends across the border wont come flocking our groceries for it. Similarly, there wont be any sugar smugglers along the common border with Thailand.

Why dont we ever appreciate it when the price of other commodities such as rubber and palm oil go up? Dont you think it benefits the country and us as well?

Kasihan Annual Bakhri Haron.

Posted: 05 Jan 2010 08:19 PM PST

Kawan saya pernah bagitau:

"Kalau orang UMNO kata Tuhan itu satu pun, kita jangan percaya. Bukan sebab benda dia kata tu betul, tapi sebab yang berkata tu adalah orang UMNO".

Arif hanya pandai maki orang belakang-belakang, tapi bila disuruh berdepan tak berani pulak. Sifat orang yang bersalah memang macam tu. Lepas tu tak gentlemen, guna bini untuk mengkedepankan agenda jahat pribadi. Padahal diri sendiri tu jahat macam iblis. Hancur PMBK di tangan ahli UMNO bernama Arifahmi ni. HANCUR SEHANCUR HANCURNYA.

Pasangan Sehati Berdansa: Kopi Dangdut Sungguh!

Siapakah gerangan pasangan Sehati Berdansa dari Kelantan? Kalau dalam ruang siber bergelek bukan main tetapi bila berdepan mata ke mata kejam celik sikit terus tiada. Macam biskut chipsmore pun ada.
Dua Minggu Yang Lalu
Begitulah bertuahnya rakyat Kelantan.
Satu Minggu Yang Lepas
Seminggu Yang Akan Datang
Dua Minggu Yang Akan Datang

Tony Fernandes poised to launch takeover bid for West Ham.

Posted: 05 Jan 2010 08:04 PM PST

Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes appears poised to launch a takeover bid for West Ham United. Fernandes, the founder and driving force behind the highly successful AirAsia airline, is a lifelong West Ham supporter and has been in sporadic talks about taking a stake in the Premier League club for several months.

Telegraph Sport disclosed in November that Fernandes had met West Ham chairman Andrew Bernhardt in Kuala Lumpur but the pair could not agree a deal. Talks have continued with, it is believed, Fernandes finally deciding that he wants to invest in the club.

Indeed it is possible that a resolution to West Ham's ownership may be found this week even though the club's owner, CB Holding, maintains it is in no hurry to sell.

Two other bidders have submitted offers. Last week David Sullivan, the former Birmingham City co-owner, underwent the second stage of the due diligence process. On Monday night the Intermarket Group claimed it had met Rothschild, the bank that has been engaged by Bernhardt to sift through the offers, and will formally submit a bid in writing on Tuesday.

Even so, it is Fernandes's bid that has caused the greatest excitement given his track-record for innovative ideas, flair and growing businesses as well as his passion for sport. He is also team principal of the Lotus Formula One team. The businessman is also firmly committed to supporting manager Gianfranco Zola and met the Italian after the Boxing Day victory over Portsmouth.

Fernandes, 45, is expected to attend Sunday's league match at home to Wolves and there is a sense of anticipation around West Ham that the club may be able to make a positive announcement prior to the fixture which could provide a launchpad for the rest of their season.

Meanwhile, the Football Association will on Wednesday begin its inquiry into the crowd disturbances at West Ham during and after the Carling Cup clash with Millwall in August.

West Ham and Millwall are set to launch a strong defence against a total of seven charges. Both clubs were alleged to have taken insufficient action to stop missile throwing and violent, threatening and racist behaviour at Upton Park.
